2015 FALL PLANT SWAP THREAD

We're inside of two months now for the 2015 Fall Plant Swap. We'll use this thread to RSVP, keep a list of those attending, and for general discussion. For anyone who hasn't been to one yet, yes it's about bringing and taking plants but it's more about the good friends, good food, and good discussions. Hope to have a nice turnout, including YOU !


WHEN:
Saturday, September 19th, 11:00-4:00, but feel free to arrive earlier and stay longer!
There will be a pot-luck lunch at about 1:00.

WHERE:
My house in Frederick, MD; address to be sent to planned attendees closer to the swap date

WHO:
DG members, their friends and families (including children).

WHAT TO BRING:
*Chairs and, if you have one, a small table.
*Something for lunch (Food Thread will be put up closer to the swap date)
*Something for the gift table (optional) - something inexpensive, newly-purchased or collecting dust on a shelf, basically anything you think someone else could use

*Plants, although in case this is your first Swap, please know that you're welcome to come even if you don’t have plants to share, and you will be able to take plants home even if you don't bring any. There will be plenty of gardeners eager to share their extra seedlings and plants, and plenty of food, fun and camaraderie!

I will be there--and I usually bring 2 or 3 items for the gift table--
just to cover those that may not have brought something.
Besides-I have a lot of stuff to get rid of.

Cam--get creative and figure out a "game" or some other way that people can
take turns going to the gift table. I think it is more fun that way...

Hugs are always welcome ! Except by my one kitty... Kennedy, she's not nearly as outgoing as her sister, Reagan. Go figure... a liberal less open than a conservative. LOL

Awwww, poor Kennedy. :-( I have one kitty like that--a bit hesitant about the hugging thing, while her brother sprawls across me, nuzzling my chin for hugs and kisses.

Yeah, she's shy when there's a crowd. But just a few people over, and especially when it's just me at home, she's very affectionate and loving. She's a real sweetie. Her sister is more bold but along with that comes an ornery streak. LOL

We have a cat like that. She pays a bunch of attention to me but only when it's just my wife and I. If anyone is over the house, she basically doesn't exist.

(nodding)--yes, that's my sweetie Emma to a tee! Loves petting from me, and likes to curl up with me, but disappears when others are over. My shy kitty.

Cam, I am sure I will love them both.. and I can really identify with that ornery streak. =P

I would like to know IF any of you will want corms/roots of some Liatris???

These are the big clumps in Olga's bed which I will be digging up soon.
I have dug Liatris up before--and I know that almost every clump of leaves
has their own cluster of corms.

SO--there would be some available. Let me know IF you may be interested...

Otherwise--I will plant some in a sunny spot--and Olga will plant some
(Oh, Yeah!--I will) in her unused bed---and then i will take the rest to work and give them way.

Whenever this heat breaks--I will do more hard jobs outside.
These 90* forecasts--"Hot and Humid" every day is getting to me....
Just don't feel like working outside much--except under my patio roof.

You won't have to wait long, Gita... High temps in my area starting with Thursday. yours will be similar: 81,77,83,85,85,86,85,86. That's yardening weather !

Critter/Jill... where are you ?

As of this minute, she is out weeding the garden with a bunch of neighborhood kids, but I'm guessing that isn't what you meant LOL. She is back from her beach vacation, so I'm sure she'll be chiming in soon for the swap participation he he he. We've been trying to coordinate getting those huge shrubs to her that I picked up from coleup. My main motivation for heading over her way, other than the shrub drop off, is a stopover at the Rocky Point creamery in Point of Rocks for some soft serve ice cream.

Yeah, I was pretty much messing with her... I know she'll be there, just hasn't gotten around to responding yet. :)

Soft serve ice cream... if they have it in Black Raspberry, I would drive from Frederick to get some. :)
