I planted chiles from a four-pack of plants, supposed to be jalapenos. One is clearly different. I think it must be some variety of New Mexico or Anaheim. With that latter, the ones I'm used to seeing in the supermarket are lighter green than these, which when green are of similar color to the jalapenos (deep green). I picked one earlier and it seemed to have little heat. These are also somewhat smaller than I tend to associate with Anaheims.
Below is a shot of two I picked recently. They came out a bit lighter in the shot than in RL. Any way to ID the variety? I'm not sure how much it matters, but I'm curious.
Chile variety
I wonder if they are a hybrid.
Not quite as wrinkled as an Anaheim, either.
Color might be from cultural conditions as well as the variety.
If you can find a use for it, flavor, heat (or lack of) and so on, then save some seed, see what it grows next year!
