Accomplished a little today, well I really should say my son did. I have a drop ceiling in my kitchen, whoever put it in left the original ceiling with a lot of holes in it.They had put up neon lights and slowly they started to burn out. We always talked about replacing them, but never got around to it. Today we went to Lowe's and bought the lights we needed and son put them up. The cobwebs, etc. that collect is another job to tackle. Now I have to wash all the plastic panels. Got to get out my paint and give the T-bars a coat before putting panels up. Oh, I'm going to have so much light in my kitchen now. Son used to put up the dropped ceilings so he knows just how to go about fixing them for me. Easier on the eyes too. I guess tomorrow will be another busy day, but at least we are accomplishing some work around here.
Made an appointment with my new doctor today. This doctor got a lot of new patients and I should have made the appointment sooner as I have to wait until July 22nd to see him. I guess several doctors had retired so all patients had to be moved around.
Sweet Interruptions: Suite # 309
Pegi you did have a busy day. Rest and have some tea. Bummer on the Dr apt. that is a long wait.
savannah is sunburned , lobster red and blisters. I m so mad at my friend who she went on the trip with. Both our girls are blistered and red. ! uhg. i mean really ! ??? i m just sick about it. The friendship has taken a turn .
Sorry to hear she is sunburned. Put some aloe or vinegar on it.
good morning
I leave on vacation in 5 days. yippeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get away from these crazy people next door.
Morning everyone.
Good morning or afternoon depends on where you live. Thought we were going to get some rain, but not enough to even say it rained.
Washing plastic panels day, yuck! Better get going before it gets too warm out.
I am sitting here crying....... someone renewed my DG subscription, and it's the nicest thing that's happened to me today.......
I'm living in a house that I don't want to be in. Yes, we can work with the setup, but have a dysfunctional relationship with the basement tenant (Mike) and the owner of the house won't allow us to be the Property Managers he says we are, and get another tenant.
Mike's gotten us to pay for his internet & tv, parks on the lawn (and last night Bob put up stakes across the front lawn and Mike removed them and parked on the lawn anyway).
Ker (the owner) has taken over the 2 car garage, and will make it into another suite. We are to pay for all the utilities for the house, and get the funds from the (two) tenants. Mike is supposed to pay for the internet & TV, but hasn't. Mike is also supposed to pay his half of the washer we bought because the washer we got with the place seized up and we replaced it because Ker wouldn't. Mike hasn't paid for his internet/tv, NOR the 1/2 of the washing machine.
Ker says we can't evict Mike (even though that was the agreement when we took over as Property Managers). We get NO discount for doing Ker's work.
Bob says, "don't push Ker, cuz he will push back". The difficult part is, Ker is Bob's boss. Ker would make life for Bob difficult at work, we both know it. Maybe Bob should go to the General Manager of the company?!?!?
We have tenants moving into our old place, moving in slowly from the 15th to end of the month, so we don't even have our own place to move back into. Plus the fact that we have to pay for re-tiling the bathroom in the old place because when we moved our preferred washer/dryer into the new place we discovered water damage on the bathroom floor (where the washer/dryer was). We put another washer/dryer in the old place.
If this all sounds like babbling, it's because I'm very emotional - both because of bad living situation, and because of the DG angel who signed me up again......... Bless you, my angel.
Sending prayers your way Susan. I hope things will work out for you soon.
Thank you, LK
I would miss everyone here.....
Putting on a brave face, re: living conditions, but it's not easy
hmm we have a severe thunderstorm watch here. Maybe not the best day to plant my patio pots (herbs & tomatoes)
Good day all.
You have a very safe trip to NY if we don't see you here before.. Sis Kathy. May only good weather follow you.
Benadryl for Savannah, Sue. Get those burns treated with calamine lotion. Sometimes adults have no common sense. She sure needs to stay indoors now.
You have a great looking nephew Cindy. How old is your niece? You could be her sister.
Oh Pegi, you must be very appreciative of all the help your son can give.
That's a major work with a drop down ceiling and having to replace the lighting.
Susan, how could you expect that to happen?? All the time you were given the impression as Property Manager, you could evict the tenant if necessary. Yes, it's hard when Bob is working for Ker. My advice is, don't report it to the GM. It's a personal business arrangement between Ker and Bob. The report might backfire. Leave it in God's hands, especially when you don't have a home to return to.
Thank you DG angel for renewing her membership. We appreciate that act so much.
Weather is yucky and I am feeling yucky.
Got more tubs to look through and I found some fabric more than 20 years old! But the thread count and quality are much better than the current ones.
Wow Susan!!! That whole mess of yours is not right!!! I would be seeking legal counsel asap!!!
Jaye, my niece will be 45 in Dec. Both my nieces resemble me a lot.
Well the first thing I would do Susan is have his internet disconnected. Not yours to pay. Thinking you need to get something in writing from Ker. If he's not willing to do that, you may have to move back out. No reason the jerk downstairs should be allowed to run rough shod over you. Either Ker holds up his end or you tell him. OK deal is off. That should have no bearing on Bob's job. IF Ker connects it to the job, then Bob talks to the GM. Sorry for currant tenants but not your fault Ker is not to be trusted.
no, I don't trust Ker - not as far as I can spit, and I don't spit.
It's gotten to the point where I say to Bob "If you trust your boss more than your wife - goodbye".
Bob doesn't have a receipt for having given Ker $1200 for this month's rent, either.....
Bob keeps saying to me "don't push Ker". Well, Bob is pushing ME! I can't live in a place where I can't trust the person (Ker) who's responsible for where I live.
I would give up everything, except for the clothes on my back, to feel like I belong.
I would move back to Winnipeg - I'm sure someone would take me in for awhile.........
Renting from a coworker is the same as dating one. I would never do either unless I had something in writing.
You need to insist on a reciept for all money paid and verbal agreements, backed up in text messages or on paper. Next time you pay rent, tell him you get the rent when I get a receipt and a lease agreement telling us how much authority you do or don't have.
Just spoke to my daughter (paralegal in a Real Estate firm), and she says she doesn't trust Ker either - and really understands my feelings.
Bob called about 45 min ago, saying he was on his way home (from a company we live 15 min from). He asked how I was feeling and I told him - terrible. He asked if it were my knees - told him my knees are fine. I think he's either talking to Ker, or he's playing avoidance, cuz he knows what he's coming home to......
I haven't tried to read to check up...too many pages!
I'm finally finishing up with all the people coming to see the garden. I have a luncheon on Monday and then the Sistahs/RU at the end of the month. If I could just figure out how to get the clover and the thistles not to grow, I'd be fine!
I hope everyone here is doing well.
Listen to your sister.
Hey cookie. Nice to see you posting.
So sorry Susan for all what is going on. I hope things get straightened out soon for your sake. That Mike must be a first class jerk!
We had to go back to Lowe's because the one unit has a burned out ballast. Tim decided to only put up one neon bracket holding one single neon light instead of two. It is in an area that I don't need a lot of light. Once he is finished with that I can get back to cleaning the t-bars and washing the panels. Someone told me to use tsp for cleaning them, but Lowe's doesn't carry it and I know I have a lot of cleaners here that will do the job. It costs more to turn on and off the neon lights than keep them on constantly. I'm getting too darn old to be doing these things!! Glad Tim is so willing to do the job, as of course it is something he knows so that helps.
oh brother - Mike just called, after reviewing the internet/tv bill, and said he'd pay it on Friday, when he gets paid. I asked him about his half of the washing machine ($150). He said that it wasn't the one we agreed on splitting the cost on - no, it's a better one that we had in our last place. We wanted the better one, so I asked Mike if he wanted to pay half of the cost on the better one? He said he wasn't paying for the original "replacement" and that WE are making life hell for him, living here. "You put little sticks on the lawn to block me parking". I tried to hand the phone to Bob, who wouldn't take it, and in the meantime, Mike hung up on me.
Pegi I hate going to a new DR allways want to stay with my old one same for dentice as well.
Susan don't you just hate those mind games when someone trys to steer your life especially when it's never in your best interest. Tell K to buzz off.
Pegi I put up with bad lights in my shop even though I had 8 new fixtures. When I had to use a flash light to set my table saw I said enough is enough. About 6 hours later I had a bright shop. Why do we go so long.
Linda just brought me chicken strips and cold slaw works for me
Pegi, somethings are better left on, as it takes less energy.
Don't break your back trying to get things done. Thank God you have dependable Tim.
Kel can't even give his mother 10 minutes of his time. If there's nothing in it for him, he's invisible.
Oh Susan, I feel your anguish. Seems like Bob feels he's torn between you and pleasing Ker.
Seems like Ker is calling the shots, Bob must realise that a happy wife is a happy marriage.
Will be praying for you and hopefully your tenant will calm down and see the sense in co operating with his new neighbour. How is Alice by the way?
God be with you, sis.
Linda is so good to you Ernie. Yours is truly a marriage made in heaven. Can you please take pictures of her quilts? I want to be inspired!!
Hey there Cookie! Thought you'd be busy at this time. Once you figured a way to eradicate those pesky clovers, please share here. I've been weedeating endlessly just to clear my walkway.
LK, if it's in the 90s here, you must be in the triple digits?
Days like this leaves me tired, lethargic and cranky!
I just have a plate of raw green beans with a Siracha dipping sauce, and a side of ??? Yep.. just that!! Just no appetite for any meat lately.
Alice - she's good, actually - no new brain tumour (others were removed in surgery), and no other tumours. They researching to see why she was "talking funny", but at the moment she's fine.
"a happy wife, is a happy life". Right now, I'm NOT happy. Got a terrible headache, and Bob's out delivering furniture - we have to get rid of stuff we have "extra" in the old place. Asked $10 for a dinette table and 5 chairs (3 of one style, 2 of another, and don't match the table). She asked for it delivered, so I asked $10 more - in this part of the city........

It was 100 yesterday and today, and very humid.
nasty weather, LK - hope it rains and cools off for you soon.
It is supposed to rain Sunday or Monday.
that's a long time off yet....... still have to get through today, Friday & Saturday, and maybe Sunday.....
Here's hoping that this is the worst of the hot weather for you for these days.
Not too thrill with the heat I am getting, but at least there aren't any storms on the horizon, just some much needed rains yesterday. About 2 inches worth.
Hope the rains will come through for you LK. Need to bring that triple down to bearable double.
Hang in there Susan. God will make a way for you. Next deal Bob makes, make sure he seeks your approval first.
he sought my approval, but I felt coerced into it......... he wanted this so bad he could taste it.
I'm chatting with a friend who has 22 acres they just bought, 45 min north of Calgary........ we could either rent 1/2 a house, or an entire house on the same property...........
I want to...... we don't have a lease as yet. I'm going to her place tomorrow to look at pictures, etc
Susan sorry to hear of this awful tenant and the situation. Sending prayers.
went to gym
worked in garden
our second day of 90. summer is here.
Jaye i do have some lotions and potions for savannah. Oatmeal baths. Aloe spray. Moisture lotions. she is wearing my clothes LOL . they are huge on her.
pretty tired but Savannah and I are watching our fav show. Little People.
We went to their place in Calgary today, to look at pictures of the acreage and home - on Saturday morning, we're going out to the out of town property, to get a better feel for it.
They're moving in July 1st, and we could move in August 1st (or before, if it's right for us to move there).
I just have to go through the logistics of moving out of the big city, and onto a farm next to a small city of 20,000 people. 22 acres...... wow
Bob's the romantic and is rather excited about it - I may have mentioned it, but he had bought an acreage before we met, and his wife at the time caused him to lose ownership of it. My Bob loves living in the country. Bob would be ok with us moving from here - we just have to see about him driving an hour to work where he does now, or if he'd find a job in Olds, Alberta....... an hour's drive north from here.
Susan fo 18 and 1/2 years I drove 50 miles to work. One hour and five minutes morning and one hour and fifteen minutes home. I bought four trucks and finished off the one I started with. Spent thousands on gas. All in all it would have been better to have found a different job but that's tough when you have a good job that you like. When I first started driving to there the drive or the hours at the wheel did not bother me but I was 48 by the time I was 55 the drive began to take it's toile on me and consumed my energy. By the time I was 60 sometimes I was so tired I would have to take a nap in the truck sometimes an hour before I could drive home. More than once I dozed at the stop light. I did less and less after work because I was just to tired especially if I worked over time. Once when I worked four hours over I just got a motel. Linda didn't want to sell our house and move she had a job close to home so I did what I did. Short story an hour commute is a killer.
LK if it was 100 here I would never leave the house. It's been in the high 70's and made 83 once and I am suffering. I guess 100 is fitting for everything else is big in Texas. Hope the paychecks are big lol.
Jaye I asked Linda how we could take some pics we don't have a clothes line to hang them from. She said she could lay them on the floor. We will see I haven't forgotten.
When it is that hot, we don't do much outside either.
Ernie - Bob's 65, so yes - I'm worried about him being so tired and 2 hour's worth of driving in addition to a hard day's work is tough. I did find a job that I know he could do, in Olds. He's going to call the company to see if it's still available, and we can go from there.
We head out to see the property tomorrow.
Waving...I'm not doing anything... 90's here the last couple of days and our a/c is not working! Ugh! I cleaned one of my houses today for 3 hours and was glad to be there! At least THEY had air!
We're hoping to get the new unit tomorrow. If not then it will be Monday. I'm having a luncheon for 6 on Monday so I sure hope the new unit goes in tomorrow!
Thanks Sue! We just had a whopper of a storm go through, winds were blowing everything sideways!
