Nice statue LK, a great tribute to our fallen military men and women. happy Memorial Day to you, and everyone one else here at DG.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Love it LK. Very fitting for this time of year. Thanks to all who served. Including my own son. 8 years. Now he is going to be National Guard in Kentucky. He signed for 6 years. Proud of our Army.

Beautiful Garden and statue, Linda. Gee ... Mary those are gorgeous! Hope evryon had a safe Memorial Day.. Ours was wet..

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful Rose Marti. We finally got some rain late in the evening yesterday, but we really needed it. Things were getting really dry, we could use a little bit more, but not 5 or 6 inches at once like some of the country is getting lately. Have a great day you all!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I meant to say ripped the tendons in my thumb. I was trying to get a pepsi out of the plastic thingy

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Now see? Pepsi is bad for you. LOL I love the Max, especially the new Cherry Burst.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OUCH! Will you need surgery?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

Isn't it amazing how easily we can damage ourselves? Hope it get's better soon, JKJ.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I had several that big downstate.. They were huge but I had to leave them behind.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

My empress Wu is 1st year. I am so looking forward to seeing it bloom and mature.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

gorgeous giant, Ronna.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

This year is so much better than last year for that hosta. It looked reall spindly and i just was not all that about it really. But this year it has filled out nicely. Looks so much better.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wish me luck everyone. I am in San Antonio at the pain clinic. I am going to demand that he does something for this leg and hip pain.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Good luck, let us know what happens. (((( hugs))))

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Fingers crossed that 3's the charm, LK...Give'em what for!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I saw the Dr. and he gave me a double shot of toradol and something else I can't pronounce, and it is helping. I have to come back next week for a different kind of injection, deeper in the hip joint, but have to have Andy with me to drive me home. In the meantime, he gave me a range of motion test that didn't go to well. He is looking for an orthopedic surgeon for my hip replacement surgery. At least we are on the right track. Maybe I can have a new hip for my 60th birthday in June?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

It's almost June now! I sure hope whatever the Dr. does it happens soon for your sake. Living in constant pain is no fun. Prayers for you LK.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Thank goodness you have some relief, Linda. Hope a new hip will do it for you.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I better come down and take care of you after your surgery so we can get you re-hab'd and in the garden... I love taking care of people. Just wishful thinking out loud here, my vacation time is now limited until September. *sigh*

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

LK so happy that the injection is working. You must be relieved. Hopefully the follow up appointment will go just as well. See the squeeky wheel gets the oil for sure. Lol.

Beautiful gardens Kathy! I hope you can control the beetles this year.

Somerset, KY(Zone 6b)

We have rain again today. The plants are loving it. I have a wild elderberry growing up in the side yard and it is in flower, so will have some berries this yr I hope.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

I can not say i have ever had elderberrys.
Kathy your garden are beautiful. I really never had any problems with beetles. Thankfully.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

We have had nothing but rain. Last night we had a wicked storm go through.
How is your knee doing Mary?

Last day to sign up for the red white and blue swap.

My granddad taught my son how to make whistles with elderberry stems. The kids love them. The stems are very soft in the middle and easy to hollow out.
If anyone is interested, here are the directions:

Elderberries raw are toxic I'm told, but cook them in cobbler or jelly and they are wonderfull or make wine out of them.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

If you google them, they have some medicinal uses too.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

she's about too, this one is out front this year. Jean Pasco and friends.

My favorite shot in these is the yellow one it looks like a gate or fence. So very pretty. They all are pretty. Here are some shots from my garden now...

The first is my roguchia clematis or something like that. It just gets the most beautiful little blue flowers shaped like a bell. The second is the space where i moved my chairs from. It is a little larger than the size of a push broom. So i am happy about this. Yeah a new area to plant!! Then i want to move the giant niagra falls hosta to there. And maybe on of these in the forth pic. I am not sure yet. Hard decision. Smiling.
Suppose to be another wet day today. Off and on rain. Have a great saturday all.
