Battery in camera went dead ,, i don't know plant ,, (always have to have a few of those )
and vegetables next time ,, lol

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Must have been all those Diffenbachias. LOL, JU, are they all from one plant? If so, explain the process. jen Really enjoy the pictures. jen

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Jen , not all from one plant , and besides those in the picture , i have a half dozen more ,,
Thick stems , broken pieces , make new plants ,,
Some of them got to stringy during this past winter , that is how these got started ..

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

What in the world do you do with them all? I thought you said you didn't have any houseplants? Sorry, I asked you on the other thread also, so you can skip that. I have never started one that way. Always thought you should be able to tho. Do you let them scab over before you plant them?

I spent the day out on the deck planting planters and saw where the ones I had already done had sunflowers coming up i them. Seems the local farmers, the squirrel family, has been busy. They are about the best farmers around.

Darn! Sure sorry we missed donut day. Bet they had some good ones too. Well gotta run, ttyl

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Jen Sunflowers and critters do that , don't forget it all for the Birds !!! lol

Hemerocallis Fulva ,, Yeah well ,, sigh , it is a flower ,,,

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

that is pretty , Ju, I have those so nice to have them..

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

milkweeds and obedient plants are probably the next to bloom , prairie coreopsis and Mustards are blooming now ,,
some doing well some not ,, another clematis wilted before I got back to it today ,, oh well one with roots remaining and a couple cuttings still possible ,,,

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I am going to plant some of the seeds from the Obedient plant. I know it is late, so don't scold me, but if they don't bloom this year, hopefully they will next. They are perennials.

I have peonies blooming of course, should take pictures, they are gorgeous, a Honeysuckle the first year it has bloomed very good. A Little Kim Lilac, Only one Daylily, and it is a very common yellow one. Haven't been down to see what else is blooming in the perennials. My hostas are getting huge. Bob said something is chewing on them, but can't imagine slugs getting up there in that planter. It is 2 feet off the ground and made of T111 siding. I will have to go take a look. Hopefully tomorrow. I still have a lot of plants to get in planters but a dr. appt. in Spokane tomorrow, so there goes the whole day. Will try to look at the hostas on the way out to the car. I asked Bob to get the slug bait out of the deck box and put some around them just in case, but he is busy too.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

JEN, i HAVE SOME THAT NEED A HOME, (OBEDIENT PLANT) SO i WILL SEND YOU SOME.
PRICKLY PEARS ARE BLOOMING..

Debra, that would be so cool of you. Thank you. I will send you the postage. I love that Cactus. It is gorgeous. Do they grow different colors? What do you do with it in the winter? I can't believe all the buds too.

I have see them on the cooking shows, but just how they prepare them to cook. Don't know how they cook them. Do you? I would much more like to see them bloom than eat them. l

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oppurtunia is easy, I started with 1/2 of a pad, I stuck it in the ground with a rock over it and three years later it has grown all around the boxthorn. hey make a fruit you can wsh cook and eat, but I just let the birds eat them and spread them around. Full sun, not much watering, easy peasy. The obedient plants do like water, tho. They bloom at end of summer, cactus bloom May thru July. ( here, anyway)

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

The cactus would not do that here. It isn't that dry. Plus, the temps aren't right for it. Mainly we have too much rain for it. It would be a house plant here. jen

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Here ya go ,, I can grow weeds , can't garden worth a darn though
This is a Full Fulva , and milkweed ,, grow off ,,

Ju that looks to me like a very nice place to sit.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I don't sit there often , but I do remember a few 100 degree weekends , when I would move that chair a few feet to the right as you look at it into the shade of the plum tree that is there ,
Enough growing there for some privacy ,

does bring to mind a glass of Tea , and daydreams ..

thank you Pistil

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Well JU, I was just going to ask if the chair had roots yet. Now you have disillusioned me. Darn!! Thought those blossoms on the righthand side were growing out of the seat. I honestly thought you could root anything.

Oh gosh, guess that was Debra. Bet she could root that chair. jen

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

No Jnette, when Ju gets around to rooting the chair, the flower will look like this (depending on what cultivar chair Ju has ; )
For the rest of us, there is always Amazon.com, where I found this table for sale...
he he he. I can't help myself sometimes, I just have to be silly.

JU, how tall is that Feverfew?? It looks just like some we have that grow wild around here. In clumps and about 10 to 12 inches tall. Could it be? I just thought they were another kind of wild daisy since we have so many of the taller ones.

And we don't have enough of those so I bought some Crazy Daisy seeds several years ago and they are a perennial too.

And Pistil, I too like your flower. Have you patented it? Pretty cute. I see you live at Lake Stevens. How long have you lived there? Gosh, I used to live South of Seattle until we moved over here after I retired. Haven't been to Lake Stevens in many many years. (good grief, my spellcheck just asked if I wanted to delete one of the manys) pretty bad when the robots are smarter than we are.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

That describes them , individual blooms in a clump , about the size of a mans fingertip , each bloom .. A smaller one is Fleabane , and asters wild look that way also ,,
The pattern of feverfew is more rosette , more decorative ,, than others ,

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I went back up and enlarged yours again, and the petals are almost round compared to the daisies. Look like those squirt daisies that men wore on their lapels in the comedy shows. Remind me of Abbot and Costello. Don't know why I thought of that. I couldn't stand them. Back then there wasn't much on TV. You watched what you got. LOL, terrible stuff.

Now that reminds me of when we first moved here. All we got were the 3 local channels. So, we had to watch Roseanne. After quite a while of her, Bob was in the hardware store in town, our little town here, and told Brian, the owner, that Roseanne was pretty funny. LOL, Brian says "Bob, you've been in the woods too long." We can only get satellite TV now, Because of all our trees and a mountain right on top of us. Guess it was here first wasn't it?

Well, I'm getting wordy again, ttyl

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Netflix , is popular , and got popular real fast ,,
Rosanne is still on and has a good size following ,

Me,,, some classic movies and Blood &Guts grotesque Stuff ,

I still love Clive dancing the Charleston step around the table as Dr Frankenstein ..
It's Alive !!! it's Alive !!!

???

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Pistil ,, The table looks like Mushruelliea Rosa-tillus , ? Do you know ??? he , he ,, he ,,

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

We may have to do close up photos and post this table flower on the Plant Identification forum. I thought it might be Chairanthemum juhurensis 'GardenR&R'.

ps Jnette I have lived here for years now. At first I gardened in sand, now I garden in clay with builder's rubble. Learning all over again what I can and can't have. No Salvia. No Penstemon. No Phygelius. No Veronica (almost). On the other hand (and much more apropos to this forum) I can have Cestrum. This one I grow from cuttings.

Pistil,

That looks like something new to that area. Almost like a lilac.

Why the change in soil? Sand to clay? How do you deal with that? I thought you used drywall,
wallboard for clay. Gypsum to work with the clay.

Speaking of frogs JU, I had Bob move one of my railing planters and underneath where the fitting area for the 2x6 space was there was a little frog hiding in the shade. I didn't get my pond set up again this year because Bob still wants to paint. I could not wait any longer for the plants to get in the ground. So, I told him to wait until next year for the pond if we are still here. I have a small one he will set up for me. The frogs like that one too. I never did get a broken clay pot for a toad house. Oh well. Everything is plastic now. I do have one that the plastic is brittle and when you pick it up it just breaks out where you pick it up. I could use that one but it is n 8 inch pot. Pretty big for a toad house. jen

Lake Stevens, WA(Zone 8a)

Interesting story that illustrates how important the particular topsoil is- Most soil here is clayey, with a hardpan layer beneath. Yuck. But I used to live in a basement apartment down by the lake. The owner, my friend, was happy to have me garden. She hired someone to mow so it was great. The house next door had been built decades ago by the owner of a sand and gravel business. He wanted a sandy beach so brought in dozens of dump trucks full of sand! This would be illegal now. Anyway the current and wind deposited a lot of this on my yard and beach. The plants that wanted good drainage loved it. They could get their roots down to the water table, but live up on top. I had Agastache, Penstemon, garlic, onions, shallots, Curry Plant, and even Yucca.
This illustrates that one can really change the character of the soil if enough non-native stuff is dumped on top! Once I fertilized and added organic matter it was decent soil. Now I sometimes dream about a dump truck filled with sand... At some point I may do something like that. In the meantime I work on little micro areas of different soils-
#1- Kniphofia on a little hill where I spread 6" commercial planting mix
#2- Hens and chicks on a rock wall, spreading happily
#3- Cotula 'Tiffendell Gold' in gravel between pavers on a slope
#4,#5- here is Eremurus. I bought a bag of sand, mixed it with compost on a slope. They survived a winter! I am getting 2 blooms this year!

Gosh are you still planting seeds JU? I found an envelope with a few packets of zinnia seeds in it, all addressed to you JU. Guess I just didn't send it. Do you want some more seeds? If you're like me you have them coming out your ears. Oh gee, never thought about that for a place to grow these things. Wonder what seeds would look best. Jen

Let me know JU.

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

I have a two to many boxes of seeds for now Jen , Nice offer ,, yes indeed , but as you ,,

I am working on perennials with these ,
some seeds are good some are not ,

Swamp milkweed seeds are still hanging in the garage .. yarrow some rose type planted today . Delphiniums , Snapdragons , on and on
Oriental poppies look good ,, that is first in a while , a few daylily hybrid sprouts , and a first time bloom , about to happen on my hybrids ,
More Goji , some trefoil seeds a lot of flowers , a couple of herbs

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

Since wild like plants are all I can seem to grow I am going to try the Snapdragons along line row after line row of Fulva (daylily orange wild) placed with some white Coneflowers and some Delphiniums if they grow this time ,
Pot sets of taller smaller rooted plants will be placed around all those once I figure out how to do that , Things like liatris and fleabane and possibly a few kinds of aster

A snapdragon bloom , they do not survive well here but the yellow here (spanish snapdragon , I will try this time also ,, Butterfly on milkweed is for fun ,

Love to watch the seeds sprout and grow. So cool. I was just too slow getting my seeds going this year, and then hardly anything germinated. I ordered a lot of stuff from off- brand seed sellers that did not sprout. Guess I should not do that, but like to give them some business and help them too but gosh it sure is a waste of money when they don't germinate.

Hate to stick to the big sellers, but-- - - - - - Not that theirs always germinate, not so. ttyl,

Anderson, IN(Zone 6a)

There is another seed from Debra that has sprouted , it holding the seed developing the starter leaves slowly ,
It just started raining again here also as I was typing this ,
I was going to get pics of the new Delphinium and Hibiscus seeds sprouting , but the rain and time to do things time for that was not there .
Jen seeds are fun to sprout ,
I do not always do well either though , remember that sprouter full of Rhubarb starts , I only have about five 4 to 6 inch plants from those .
Giant Benary's purple Zinnia has A bloom forming , their growing but not thrilled with this cloudy weather ,
