Morning Glories 2015 # 04

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, your pink mg is to die for. Love your tulips and salvia and
Pachystachys lutea is one of my favorites
Only 1 mg up from all I planted. :-(

Gautier, MS

Love your first pink mg Debra, very pretty. Lot's of color from your flowers.

Jackie, hoping you get more germinating soon. The ones I planted early, not all made it either, because of weather or my carelessness.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Hope I get time to plant a few more today Helena
Probably something I did too..

Edited to say 4 or 5 of my old sds are finally up. :-)

Those are nice plants in bloom. There are all kinds of prickly purple thistle along the highway in bloom. I need to stop and get some seeds.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

love the red buckeye, mine is still small.. can't find Pandy, but it was too cold for my bones yesterday.

Gautier, MS

Beautiful blooms and plants Jackie! I saw a thistle plant with similar color along the road last week down here. Once when traveling I spotted a tall dark maroon in color, really liked it.
Only one of my Irises is blooming right now. Buds on other plants...

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

personally Jackie, I think you should enter your photos in PF's. Gorgeous takes on those.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks ladies.
Debra, I might post them if I get time,.
Lot going on here,

Gautier, MS

Imagine my surprise this morning when I spotted a mg bloom! This is like Hattie Bell but larger bloom from Dany's seeds. Thank you Dany.

OH MY! That is beautiful!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Gorgeous! ;D

Helena, a very pretty bloom!!!

Oh well, seems my stream of Ochraceas has come to an end after two months. does anybody know if it's a short day plant or just decided to focus on leaves for a while without a real reason?

Meanwhile I'm in the usual dilemma: most of my annual MGs are big enough to go outside, but there's another 4 weeks with a slight chance of freezing. Still the days are warm enough that I'd expect them to do better outside with real light and out in the ground. So much to win, but so much to loose.

As a climbers side note: looks like I got my cobaea scandens through winter alive and thriving - let's see if it's worth the effort. last year I was lucky that the seedlings started to bloom in July and then flowered in abundance till November. I had Cobaeas from seed before which had their first bloom in the second half of October. Let's see when a mature plant will start. The passiflora hybrid has broken dormancy as well, still waiting for the Passiflora incarnata to show any growth. Yes, I know they're supposed to be slow starters.

Ochracea is a short day bloomer. Mine always finishes up blooming by April each yr.

really nice Garak.. I would set those glories out and cover them with leaves , mine are still going strong with buds outside even tho they are sheltered with a hand full of leaves on them.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda K, Debra and Jackie.

Had a busy day yesterday trying to get more seedlings into bigger pots. BK bud from yesterday opened today. Still one of my favorite mg! My seven sisters roses blooming after all the rain we got.

Beautiful blooms. I have been looking for those roses, and no one sells them here. Pink or red would be fine with me, but I can't find them locally.

My son Andy was here and helped me plant all my cannas in the big raised bed, then put the red mulch down for me! All I have to do is put all the garden art back in place, then clean up the front of it, and it is done.

Great pics Helena of your beautiful blooms. Looking for my Black King sds since yours
is so pretty.. Love the rose, its a beauty,

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Linda, your raised bed will look great with those beautiful
Cannas. I've got a few Canna's going that Ronnie was kind enough to share
with me. I hope we both get some lovely blooms. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I love cannas. They are so pretty, and they bloom all summer.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Linda and Jackie. Linda, I'll have to see if I can start a cutting for you of that rose or if seeds germinate. Nice planter too LK. I love cannas too, very showy plants.

less than perfect blooms today, defects on the blooms. Yukon and BK.

Defects are pretty too.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Still great to see some blooms Helena even if they have a defect. The next blooms most likely will be perfect. I get quite a few defects on my 1st blooms from a vine..

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

gorgeous blooms on BK, Helena, and LK that canna bed is going to be awesome. I dug up my canna's and found half of them rotted so guess I will plant from the seeds I got from them last year, you know I love seeds. Still no sign of Pandy, was outside all day yesterday and I have lots of volunteers, can't wait to see what of.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have never got seeds from my canna's. I see the seed pods, and let them stay on the plant to dry, and when they turn brown, I get empty pods.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I'm lucky like that, I get at least one seed pod from most everything I grow, even my desert rose gave me twin pods last fall. I think I collected about 30 canna seeds from all my canna's last year, most of them red, but humboldt gold gave me two.

You were born with a green thumb!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wont be long on your pandy breaking thru Debra. I have 8 to 10 lead stems up so your's shouldn't be far behind. I'd guess a week or two. :-)

Gautier, MS

Thanks ladies.

Two blooms from this vine, cross blue blzd. Thanks Dany. Rain drops on BK and my yellow lemon lily from my daughter in law!

Gorgeous lily

Thank you ladies! We had a bad thunder storm (a little bit of hail too) here today. Then power went out for over an hour, trees falling on lines. But really not bad just a bit of tree limbs all over the grass.
