Happy April 1!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Still can't see the articles but I'm sure it's just a matter of time until they reappear.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I can see and read the articles on DG if I do a Google Search for "Dave's Garden Articles" I can even leave comments that way. Hmmm...

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

Cville, you should be able to do the same thing through the DG site by clicking "Guides & Information" on the menu at the top of this page and then scanning down to click on "Articles". My point is that the articles are currently available through DG (via the menu) but are just not currently showing up in the designated spot on the Home page.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes - somehow in the shuffling, we have lost the connection to the home page (logged in or logged out.)

And yes, Cville, if you access any page of DG via Google, it will recognize you as a logged-in member (unless you logged out before you searched.)

I just noticed I'm seeing ads again on the articles (this time on the right), but I'm staying logged in on that page so it must be something else that's causing it.

I've been in and out of articles quite a bit in the last few days and haven't seen the ads so it must have just started. I checked my preferences to make sure ads were still turned off and they are.

I know the techs are working on those pages so I'm not at all concerned about it. I just wanted to mention it and see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Here are a couple of Screen Shots from an article:

That is odd - I just accessed those pages and I don't see any ads, nor is there a white space as it might be if an ad-blocker on my browser was blocking it. Can you try clearing your cache to see if that removes the ads? If it doesn't, let me know and I'll get the techs involved.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi Terry,
I cleared my cache and rebooted my computer. The ads are still there.

I didn't notice any ads yesterday. I honestly don't remember if they were there earlier this morning when I checked out the Beautiful new updated articles features, because I quickly went from article-to-article and didn't stay in there long.

I don't see ads on any other pages and I also don't see any on the main page for Gardening Articles, Tips and How-tos.

So far of the articles I've checked, the top ad seems to be gardening related and any ads further down the page are under "Todays Features" and "Find your freeze/frost dates". Those ads are definitely not gardening related.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more screen shots.

Edited: I just checked a couple more articles and, apparently, the ads on top are not always garden related.

Thanks for the additional details - but you shouldn't be seeing any ads, regardless of how related to gardening they are :-(.

I've passed along your post with the screenshots to them to look at. And because they will probably ask, can you tell me what device and browser you're using?

Springfield, OR(Zone 8a)

Just to chime in, I have ads on the articles page, including a flashing one at the bottom.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Terry ~
We have Windows 8 with IE-10 - (Until we decide to upgrade to 8.1 we can't update to IE-11) - We've held off because of all the reported issues after downloading 8.1...one of these days we'll just do it.

We also prefer Internet Explorer over the other browsers because we're used to it and comfortable with it. We haven't run into any problems using it.

13Turtles ~
Thank you for adding your input. It makes me feel a lot better knowing it's not just something wonky with my computer.

Terry, Melody & Tech Team ~
The new changes have been Awesome! I know that the bugs will eventually get worked out. Thank You!

Yes, I can do it that way too. I do a lot of Google searches.

To be honest I've never had time to read many of the articles, but after seeing the discussion of problems here I decided to look at a couple. I didn't see an articles link on my home page, so I went through the menu to find it. I didn't see any ads at all and had no problem submitting a comment on Melody's article about Tiger Swallowtails.

I did notice one problem, however. I clicked the link to view more articles by Melody and looked at one titled "It's Time to Sing the Blues: Spring Wildflowers". All the photo links are broken. The photos are fine in several other articles I looked at, though.

Springfield, OR(Zone 8a)

Same here SallieKr, I don't see an articles link on the homepage.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm pretry sure that's a choice in 'my preferences. '

(Sallie) Cherry Vall, IL(Zone 5a)

Yes, Today's Article is an item in preferences. I moved it to column 2 item 1 so I can easily see if it comes back. Another thing I noticed is that there's a "News From Dave" item. Is this still being used? If not, maybe it could be changed to something else related to site updates, for example. I don't remember seeing any "News From Dave" ever, even though it should have been at the top of my home page (set in my preferences.)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Even when there was Dave, I cannot ever remember having "news from Dave." But when there was Dave, he sometimes made little fixes like that and sometimes didn't. With IB, I don't really see that being a high priority.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I still don't have Today's Articles appearing on my homepage.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Me neither. And there were no articles in my newsletter. But Carole, the articles section is already listed as needing help with the IB techs, I'm mentally giving them a few hours to work!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Good, I'm glad to hear it is listed as needing help. Sorry, techs. I guess I missed that.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

It's a hot topic on the Writers Forum.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Most of us can't see the Writers' Forum.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, that's why I was trying to explain it to you. :D

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Anyone can submit an article.

Just fyi, today's article is showing up on my home page now; however, the format may need some tweaking. It is showing up like this (see attached screen shot). Just a few lines of text with the author's name, no title and no thumbnail. Not sure if that is due to a formatting error on the part of the writer or a glitch with the software or some combination of both.

But at least it's there! (It wasn't there at all this morning at my house, and now I see what you see.)

But I got logged out when I clicked on it. :(

Carrielamont, I also got logged out when I clicked on the article.

That's a good catch - I don't think we've ever referred to the updates that appear at the top of your screen as "News from Dave" and no one realized it was a preference setting. I will mention it to the techs to get it cleaned up and renamed something more descriptive.

Yes, that is something I realized on Saturday - and by then it was too late to get fixed in time for the weekly newsletter.

[quote="carrielamont"]But I got logged out when I clicked on it. :(

That is a recurrence of a problem that we had fixed previously. I'll be sure they know it is an issue again :-(.
