Happy April 1!

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

You know, I spent a few minutes trying to figure out the connection between that thumbnail and the topic. It looks like a blender - which made me a bit apprehensive about where this was going. LOL

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

The Today's Article is showing up on my home page again.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, mine too! Happy days.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

LOL... it was the thumbnail from my article on making Vanilla Sugar... no blender bunnies here, I promise!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I am still not seeing the articles at all. :(

Billerica, MA(Zone 6a)

Quote from taters55 :
Carole, that is what I am talking about, I click on start discussion, and it tells me I have to log into one of three programs.

Linda, are you still having this problem?

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Hope the articles feature is up an running smoothly again soon.

We would love to hear your ideas and suggestions for future articles. Do you have a topic that you'd like to see us cover in an article? If so, please post it here and we'll see what we can do with your idea!"

Not sure how or by whom the articles that appear daily are chosen but I would like to see them be more 'timely' according to gardening seasons. (No 'Best Snow Shovel Ever' in mid July, or "Ukranian Easter Eggs" just after Easter)

Some of the articles chosen for republishing are outdated.
Can the original writer do an updated (or upgraded) version with fresh links, etc and be paid? Some articles are prime for a Part Two or follow up article.

How about some 'Community Participation' articles? For instance 'May Day Baskets: An Old Tradition' with a bit of history and a shout out for members to submit their photos, and run it, with reminders for two weeks before and a week after May Day, annually. Maybe 'Pumpkins' for Halloween? You get the idea.

Today's article is missing from my home page today.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Mine too.

I sure do wish that we could paste things on to the comments. I used the Clipping Tool to clip a picture of that part of the page and can't put it here without downloading it and uploading with DGs thingy.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Look here. It's about 'seed blocks.'

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Missing from mine as well.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I started replying to a comment, wrote at some length, then couldn't post it without first registering for Disquis... so I registered, then tried to get back to my post, but it had vanished. And I still can't log in via Disquis to respond to comments. :-(

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, I had the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago when I tried to register for Disqus.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

On a very bright side, the advertisements are finally gone! Thanks, Terry and tech team!

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

carrielamont - About the ads on the articles problem.

I was also having the same problem caused by not being able to stay logged in on those pages. I contacted administration before realizing this thread had an ongoing discussion about that and other problems.

Melody was wonderful! She forwarded my screen shots to the Tech Team and Terry and told me it was a DG problem that they were working to fix.

Well...happy to report it appears to be fixed!

THANKS SO MUCH... Melody, Terry, the Tech Team and anyone else involved! You guys are great!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I don't want to register for Disquis.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I have a blank on articles too. And I also do not want to register for Disquis.

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Ditto!

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Still can't see articles.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

The Disquis problems are a big issue for me as a writer, since I really enjoy the interactive nature of publishing online. Hopefully they'll get that worked out so we don't have to flip back & forth between DG and Disquis (even if we're willing to sign up for Disquis, and I'd rather not get into it either) in order to post a comment.

I thought the blog-style commenting after the articles was going to work out really well, but this has thrown a wrench in the works.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Whatever they had was working fine for me. Reminds me of the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi everyone,
Melody said the tech team is updating some things which has caused a few bugs in the process. They are working to fix them while also making the site more current and more beautiful.

Please be patient.

If we didn't have the access to Administration that we do we'd be stuck with bugs (and no answers) every time something was changed. All websites make changes and I, for one, have experienced bugs so bad that I stopped using particular sites with no recourse and no one to ask why it was happening.

We should consider ourselves lucky that the powers-that-be on DG care enough to make the site better. I'm excited to see what the changes will be. I hope all you are too.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Please don't make us out to be impatient if we express our concerns or disagree with something. That's what happens on a public website, in my experience.

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Cville_Gardener ~ I'm sorry if it seemed like I was accusing you or anyone else of being impatient because that wasn't my intent.

DG members are generally very patient. Some members seemed frustrated and I was trying to be helpful to the ones that were experiencing assorted problems since I also had experienced some of the same ones them and contacted administration to find out why.

If I thought my comments would be misconstrued, I wouldn't have posted them.

If anyone else misunderstood my comments and thought I was being negative or accusatory, please accept my apology.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I tried to post a rating on PF today and got "Database error. Session halted. Has anyone else encountered that?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

No problem, nutsaboutnature. That wasn't what I meant anyway. No big deal.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

You do not have to sign up for Disqus to add a comment. The problem you experienced was related to the ads showing up (everyone was being treated as "logged out") in that section, so the site didn't know you were a subscriber or that you had DG access to leave a comment.

That problem has been fixed.

The articles appearing on the home page is something we are working to fix ASAP, along with the final tweaks on the new article images.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Yay, thanks!

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Today's article is still not showing on my home page.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Articles showed up today! Thank you so much.

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Yep I see them too! Thanks tech folks!

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

I see the article but when I click on it I get a 404 error page.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I am getting the same error message.

I see Jill's article , but also get the error 404 page. My computer is an iPad right now.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

I think we've got it fixed - for those of you who were seeing an error message, do you see the articles now?

I don't see anything to do with articles, now. .??

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Sorry - I spoke too soon. The techs are keenly aware of it and working on it now. You can get to today's articles from this page: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/ and as soon as humanly possible, we'll have them back up and running from the home page, too.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

I did see the article on my home page earlier (today, I think), but it is gone now.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Yeah, we have a few quirks and kinks we're still fixing following an upgrade and transition to a new editor tool. I apologize for the confusion and the disappearing articles...I think we've about got everything worked out.

Charleston, SC(Zone 9a)

No problem, Terry,

I just posted to provide feedback on the issue, but thanks for the update.
