Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

We're looking forward to meeting you!

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks y'all for the warm welcome for one of my bestest work buddy's terlichman better known as Terry!!! Terry...these kind folks would like to know what types of plants you'd be interested for your very shady yard LOL. Come on over this way and tell them all about it http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1392209/

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Muddy--

I will be bringing you 4 or 5 of the black trays with the tight meshes
for your Winter Sowing. Do you still want them?

G.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Gita - no thanks; I don't need them anymore.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Gita, bring them for packing my van, they might be useful

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Carrying trays are always useful at a swap!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Sally--

I gave abut 6 small, stacking boxes I am bringing for that purpose.
Got them in the produce dept. I think they had berries in them....
Very sturdy...I'd rather keep the trays. Can't find these any more.

I can also bring some of those awesome BEHR paint boxes. They are tops!
They even have cut-out handles.

See ya! G.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Thank you Susan for hosting a really delightful swap. Your yard and house are truly beautiful and your husband did a tasty job grilling. Thanks again for a wonderful day.

Frederick, MD

Yes. Thank you, Susan for opening up your lovely home to us today. And thanks to everyone for a delicious meal and for the beautiful plants.

My girlfriend asked me if I met any nice people. I told her, of course, all gardeners are nice people ! She just doesn't get it. Hahaha. Seriously, what a nice group of people. Looking forward to many future events with the group.

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

What a great day, Susan. Thank you so much for letting us share in your lovely yard and also see your birds in action with the peanuts. We enjoyed meeting the newest members of the group, too, and as usual came home with far more plants than anticipated.

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

You're welcome! I had a great time too; I was sorry to see people leave.

CAM, it was great to meet you; I didn't get a chance to chat with you and we never opened your olives....so I get to eat them all by myself : - )

Thanks to everyone for the delicious food, beverages, plants and help in getting lunch ready. Most of all, thanks for coming! It was a wonderful day.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Got home with no glitches......

Susan--you rock! ....One of the best swaps i have attended!
Your grounds are so pretty! Love all the big Azaleas and other blooming shrubs.
The front of your house must be a traffic stopper!

Thank you again! Gita

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

We had a great time. Beautiful garden and home, great food and best of all seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Great Swap, thanks so much for hosting.

Lititz, PA(Zone 6b)

Yeah I will echo everyone else Muddy! Thank you so very much. Everything in your yard looks so good. Hopefully I'll be able to get ours looking close someday!

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Muddy, I didn't get a chance to thank your husband in person. Big thanks to you and your husband for a wonderful swap!

I couldn't believe how much your backyard had transformed in the past year. I really enjoyed just sitting in the garden.

CAM, it was nice meeting you! Thank you for sorting and handing out the bulbs!

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

I think your yard looks great already, Sequoia; it's just a different kind of beautiful. You have nice densely-packed colorful beds, and I have suburban sprawl ; - )

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

SSG, you're welcome, and thanks! Yes, my backyard is filling out, thanks to all of the plants I get from you and other DG friends.

Falls Church, VA

Hi Everyone that I met on the 9th! Thank you all, especially Susan for hosting the event and allowing me to enjoy her beautiful garden and beautiful house-- for accepting me as an old friend. What a wonderful group. Did not bring anything and received so many---Going home, of course I made the wrong decision with the first turn, but quickly found out since it was a cult-de-sac. Then I did not have any problems going home. Took all the plants from the car and put them in the shade. Will plant them as soon as I can.

A special thank you to Jill for alerting me about the get-together and for Pat to start teaching me so I will not miss any activities in the future! Next meeting I will make something so others will be able to enjoy my creation/cooking and share my plants.

For all the mothers: Happy Mother's Day!

Lucketts, VA(Zone 7a)

Well that sure was an enjoyable day! Thanks Muddy for hosting. Your yard is truly peaceful and beautiful. The food was great, the company even more great! It was nice to spend time with friends, old and new.

Odenton, MD(Zone 7b)

What a great swap! I think I enjoyed this one the most. Susan, your yard is unbelievable, I felt like I wanted to take a chair into that top corner and just sit and watch all that was going on.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Many thanks to Muddy and her husband for hosting the swap. I had a wonderful time, and it was great seeing everybody and meeting new friends.

Muddy has a beautiful garden, which provided a lovely backdrop for the event. It was a true pleasure to stroll through her garden.

Ooooh, I got to "see" you guys!! :)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Great photos!

Muddy, many thanks to you & David for hosting the event! Your lovely back garden made such a relaxing backdrop, and there was plenty of space for eating & lounging. I'm glad you were able to just kick back with me & Terri for a while longer, talking and enjoying the chatter of your bird friends as they got ready for the night.

Taking care of a lot of the plants right after we unloaded gave me a lot more time to visit -- and to eat! Wow, that chicken was good, even better with the yummy peanut sauce.

I don't know what my favorite side dish was... I always love Donner's dumplings and Gita's pickles, but I also enjoyed the flavors in Ric's pasta salad a well as those pickled carrot strips that Coleup brought.

Catbird, Joyanna and I shared that brownie you sent home with me -- for breakfast! We had to save some for later in the day, it was so rich with all the caramel and cookie? bottom... Joyanna said that after just a couple of bites, she was "filled up to the top of her head with yumminess."

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

What beautiful pics Donner! Muddy, you certainly have a gorgeous setting to host this event, I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make it and see everyone, and meet some new friends, but very glad everyone had such a great time!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Nice photos, donner!

I vote that Muddy should hold another spring swap....
Need to see all the beautiful sights once more.

Thanks for posting the picks Donner and Catbird!

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

You all are so welcome! Thanks for being such awesome guests; you made it so easy.
I had such a great time; I was sad to see everyone go. It was nice that Critter and Aspen lingered for a while longer.

Donner and Catbird, you took great photos; some of them are so artistic...there are views of my back yard that I don't notice or fully appreciate.

My youngest daughter and I went plant shopping together and came back with some great native bog plants for my pond. Left to right in the black floating circles:
Peltandra virginica (Arrow Arum), Equisetum hyemale (Horsetail) and Saururus Cernuus (Lizard's Tail).

They join the other native marginals and floaters I already had: Caltha palustris (Marsh Marigold), Limnobium spongia (Frogbit), Azolla caroliniana (Azolla) and Bacopa caroliniana (Lemon Bacopa).

The 2nd photo shows how it looks now. I haven't planted the new plants yet; they can wait until I get all of the beautiful swap plants in the ground!

I treated myself by getting rid of the stupid waterfall which has been such a pain because if it gets the slightest bit unbalanced, the pond starts draining. My DD ordered a pond fountain for me; I'll take a photo when it's installed.

Muddy, speaking of pond plants, did you find the hardy (white) water lily clumps from Martina? I put them in a grocery bag and tossed them in your pile in the garage. They should sprout right out when they get planted. I realized that many clumps was overkill once I saw your pond LOL... but your goldfish inside might like them.

:-)

Vienna, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes, I did; thanks, and please thank Martina for me!. I saw little sprouts on them today. There might be room for all of them in the pond because the water lettuce and water hyacinths are temporary. If not, I'll give some to a neighbor.
