Our count is up to 50!! Daughter rented more tables & chairs & we already had a bunch that are ours.Starting the cooking, making the mashed potatoes as the recipe is meant to be made ahead, mmmmmthey are sooooo good, whipping cream & cream cheese added. Never any left overs, making extra this year. Mix up corn casserole for later baking. Cooking turkey wings, legs & bones to make the noodles in later. Rest of the small turkey was boned & rolled for the smoker along with salmon & jerky...hubby's specialties. Making veggie dip and the chestnuts rolled in bacon for appetizers.Mix sauce to add for second baking just before serving. Spinach salad is last minute but can do the hard cooked eggs, bacon and dressing ahead. Got all the fixins for the kids to decorate cookies. Maybe an apple pie or two to add to the dessert table.Really not much to do after today but get it all down state on Fri.
Apple pie going into the oven and that is the end of the cooking for now.

Rm 299 "Sweet Interruptions" Hotel
Oh man...I ate too much and I was pacing myself!! Only had one little cookie for dessert!
we are done with our thanksgiving. The hotel sure has a spread. !! enjoyed all of it. Had a nice day with Tom's mom. She took me to her house and showed me her collecton of potterey and it sure is beautiful !!!
then she showed me the the village and part of the town.
Had a nice time talking and looking at pottery.
I did get a few pieces for me. Some bowls, cups and a nice soup serving bowl.
So the time is well spent.
Cookie Hope Bill feels better today.
Jaye what can i say. Start to write a book and sell it, !!!! the story just need to be told and you become a famous author . Many women may learn from your experience. :)
hope he gets his stuff together and stops all this nonsense.
Tom is asleep next to me LOL .
Ernie wow that is a lot of fish !
Cindy hope the move goes well. sorry you have to move again.
LK wow on the Dr, visit ! that is nuts waiting that long ! ?
Very nice Thanksgiving dinner at Elks lodge. Food was so good, and of course I ate 2 pieces of cheese cake and a slice of peach pie with cool whip. I ate too much and feeling a little stuffed. Met some of the members. such a nice group of people. They do so much good in different areas. Not too many showed up for the free or almost free meals, which was a shame. Even brought home some turkey for Mandy. Now I need to rest my very tired body. Tomorrow will be a day of rest for me, unless I decide to get busy on my laundry. Now I'll be alone for several days, guess I could finish up a couple books from the library.
Morning everyone!
Glad to hear you went to the lodge for dinner Pegi!
Sue, how is your trip going?
I didn't think I would ever have to eat again, but could go for some of that turkey now.
I see my neighbors are starting to put up Christmas lights, so guess that means we are on count down for Christmas. I had a couple of CD's of Christmas songs that I picked up at the thrift store months ago. Can't go wrong with $1.91 for a good CD. At least 25 years ago DH bought me a Discman portable player with speakers by Sony and it sat in a drawer for the last 14 years. For my personal listening pleasure I set it up and will start enjoying some music. Darwin was kind of a bah humbug sort of guy over the last 20 years, but went along with celebration with my side of the family.
Keeping you all in my prayers.
Evening everyone!
Barb.. LK.. Sue.. Susan.. Karen.. Pegi.. Marion... Cookie... LizRainey,., Liz H... Judy.. Sis Kathy.. Brother Ernie.. Synda...
Smoked salmon, smoked turkey... peach pie.. all that sounds so good!!
Hiya LizH, the weather was nice wasn't it, here in the Carolinas. I'm glad that our Sue here can have some nice shopping time.
And Sue, I am glad you found some pottery. That area and the coastal side are famous for pottery.
Didn't make it to the oyster roast, as it was cancelled. No oyster beds are opened. But managed to fix turkey with dressing and cheesy potatoes.
But tomorrow, Sis Carolyn is holding a post Thanksgiving bbq after church. Don't think I'll be there.
Good morning! It is 60 degrees here! Feels like Spring. I'd walk the garden but that would only depress me!
Same here cookie. 65 degrees, but not much blooming.
trip went well. So wonerdeful !!! . we had a wonderful time ! . Toms parents are so cute . I want to live in NC. Such nice people and hospitality. The southerners sure know there food too.
coming home bitter sweet. Glad to see my kids and the dogs , but back to reality is over whelming at times.
To much going on. Came home to a broken dishwasher :( to much money going out and not enough coming in.
Glad to hear your home and had a good trip. Maybe your dish washer in an easy and cheap fix.
Nice toasty 25 now was 22 earlier. I ran in to an old internet friend. Haven't seen her for 14 years. We had a nice visit last night. Looks like she's getting married.
Son left with our granddaughter to return her to Eastern Wa. She is such a sweet child .
The festivities are officially over so now it's on to Christmas.
Ernie, I certainly home you ate some extra salmon for me.....may treat myself to some and just let my daughter prepare her own dinner. How in the world did 2 people who loved salmon raise a child that doesn't like any type of seafood? Well canned tuna...guess that counts for something. :-)
Thanksgiving was okay...DIL not in the best of moods! We did have a very good meal and loads of fun playing games after dinner with the girls plus DIL's brother. Talk about being different personalities....he is so much fun!! Only enough turkey left for a couple of sandwiches so I baked a ham yesterday.
I got the shock of a lifetime on Saturday. Apparently Kim, with the help of my best friend in Gainesville, scheduled a cruise for my Christmas present this year. Yeap, she is taking me on a 4 day cruise on Disney's Dream!!!!! Talk about going first class......she should have put all that back pay into savings but oh well...gotta love that gal!!! I am still in shock and panic all at the same time. What will I take, what will I wear, will I get seasick? Check one more thing off of my bucket list now.
i wanna go with maid m.
I think there will be room...pack your clothes. I am still shaking with shock!!!!
Praise God you have a wonderful daughter Marion, she certainly appreciates you very much, but then, you're a wonderful mother and what all mothers should be!
Welcome home Sue.
It's Dec. 1 and the new financial arrangement has started. He's still here, but told me not to buy any food for him.
I thank God that at least I know how to eat cheap.
At least I can keep the house warm while he's still here.
Nothing else to write about but giving thanks that I can still function without regular insulin.
Love to all..
Happy to hear about the cruise, Marion. It is something she wanted to do just for you, great gal!
Jaye, prayers keep coming for you. My eating habits aren't good since I don't have to cook if I don't want to, and usually I don't want to cook. I did try a crock pot potato soup that I thought was really good. Later on I steamed some broccoli and added it to a bowl full. Broccoli is one of my favorite veggies. I kept telling myself that Darwin would have liked it.
Rained a little last night, sounded so good to hear rain drops falling. I hope more rain comes as we sure do need it. Put all the plants (what I have left) in shock.
Thank you Pegi.
I love broccoli added to anything!! Even raw! But they're getting ridiculously expensive.
Broccoli is a staple in this household. Buy fresh when affordable but have found a frozen kind that is really great. Only trouble it is packaged in 2 lbs. bag but do reseal.
Jaye and Pegi, I am proud of her BUT she is not perfect and neither am I. She is however thoughtful and appreciative of things that have been done for her...so I guess that is good. Now if I could only get her to bring the dishes from her room to the kitchen!!!!!!
wow Marion - when do you leave?
Jaye - new financial arrangement............ if you're not buying food for him, what is he doing for you? He's obviously paying the heat...... electric too? Mortgage?
Went fishing 25 degrees and would you believe it was a lot warmer out in the Islands than it was in my back yard. I never did do up my jacket but I was layered up pretty well. I had a t shirt then a turtle neck long sleeve shirt, a sweat shirt, at last a long sleeve heavy pull over wool shirt with zip up neck.
We shoved off and headed out it was smooth as glass in the harbor. I looked at the smoke trails the big commercial smoke stacks were spewing and predicted a calm day was to be had or at least until the tide change. As we turned the corner of the outter harbor the big motor came to life and the bow rose and the boat tore off like a rocket. We throttled back let the boat tell us how much faster to push it.
4200 rpm and away we went the water was flat calm. As we went along I saw a sea gull and he appeared to be standing up and I said Confucius said man see sea gull standing on water better look out sea gulls do not stand on water they stand up on logs lol. We traveled about 45 minutes to the NE corner of Cypress island and slowed to a snails roar at a place known as Eagles Bluff. We loaded one rod with a heering and the other with a purple striped squid. I drew the short straw so I got to drive. It was combat fishing for a bit until a few rude guys got it figured out they could not play chicken with the blue boat driven by a maniac. Watch this guy in the Bayliner I see him I see him at the last minute I am going to turn hard to port and let him go head to head with the red boat.Half way through the turn bang the STBD rod went shake shake and it was gone then the Port rod went off in a big way and Adrian hooked a dandy of a fish and reeled it up to the side of the boat and I heard little Ernie saying lift his head come on lift it then saw him tip the net and say nice one.
We fished there for another hour or so and all concluded we needed to go over to Sea Acers over on Orcas Island so off we went and about 15 minutes we arrived put out a heering and a coho killer but it killed nothing but neither did the little dead fish. So off we went to the harbor and were met by the scale sample guy he saw our fish and said wow that is way bigger than anything I have seen today. Well that's nice but it is still only one fish lol.
We took one half and cut it in three hunks I did not really want any so I took just enough for two people and vacuum packed it and Ernie left with his and a hunk for BIL. What an utterly drop dead georgous day.
Marion I pretty much eat every fish with the exception of Tapilah (sp) That kid would have starved at my house. My kids all like seafood. My wife on the otherhand will only eat cod and halibut. She gives a big thumbs down to salmon .

Still say you should write a book, Ernie. You have such a way with words!
Sounds like a great day Ernie. I'm with your wife, not huge on seafood, but definitely no salmon for me.
Morning everyone!
Ernie, I love reading your stories, I agree, I hope your keeping a journal for a book some day!
Well, I bought a 6.5 prelit artificial tree the other day, for only $27.00. and it is up and decorated. Hubby is still a grinch when it comes to decorations, but I just did it. Now, I need to take some of my angels off the shelf, and get out a few decorations for Christmas. Oh, and the manger scene.
The crud is finally gone. My oven died thanksgiving day. new stove being delivered fri.
daughters 3 year old dog has parvo, has been at the vet over a week. can't wait to see this bill. my Sammy got sick yesterday, he is very congested, and is on antibiotics.
daughters cat has worms.
Annual Christmas party is 2 weeks away, and haven't started to get anything ready. Michael has to work till noon that day, and is 3 hours away, so will be late for his own party, which leaves me frying the turky's and smoking the boston butts, and ribs, making lasagna, mac and cheese, pot. salad, mac. salad, relish tray, 3 cakes, 3 pies, fudge, chocolate covered cherries, cookies, spinach dip, and a cheese cake. So my life is back to normal.
Daughter shampooed all my carpets, nikki sabanette finally slept threw the night last night
Glad to her y our doing better, but goodness, sounds like your going to be busy! Sorry to her about all the pet problems.
Linda, come to my party!
I'm here, reading everything and thank you for letting me live vicariously through you all.
Thank you for the fishing trip brother Ernie. I'm the one hanging on to the side of the boat, trying not to throw up.
LK.. I am sure you'd be having some of your beautiful home made ornaments up there.
Sis Kathy, sounds like you'd be having a smashing Christmas party.
pretty busy day today.
waited for fence guys to come. They got the fence up and the dogs love it and so do i.
then to the gym. grocery , phone calls. returning phone calls. banking. and cleaning.
kathy my goodness what a party you will have.
Ernie wow on the fishing. sounds like a fun time.
just finished a great meal of left overs. I had battered halibut and some salmon with some French bread not fancy just buttered.
Nice puppy please socialize him well as they are really guard dogs and can get snotty. That's the last thing you need in a 150pound dog.I think hes a good looking boy.
Kathy, if I was closer I would be there.
Sue, glad to hear you got the fence for the dogs to have running room!
Jaye, I need to make more ornaments, I gave all of them away last year.
Did something different today, out of necessity actually.
There are neighbourhood dogs that ripped the trash and strewn them all over the front yard.
Being that I'm the sole keeper of the grounds.. I re-bag them! Think I didn't burn much calories as the work was slow, don't require much energy!
Good that you have the fence up, Sue. Wish my yard is fenced in all around. Just one side only.
You're so fast with your crafts, LK, you'll have more before the week of Christmas.
Leftovers for me too brother Ernie. Vege soup and corn bread.
Good night and GOd bless everyone here.
Oh, I hate it when the dogs or cats get in the trash!
I need a corn bread infusion. I haven,t had corn bread or spoon bread since my mother quit cooking now she is gone.
Rained a little this morning, not cold out either. Did manage to go to the library to return my book, rain can continue now if possible.
I talked a little to my neighbor whose DH passed a few years ago. She had to do a lot of fixing up, electric bill alone was $5000 and now she said her furnace went out. Said that is going to have to wait until the end of next year. She doesn't go into a panic mode like I do, and she is even planning a 6 day cruise with a friend next year. She doesn't do the electronic stuff, doesn't own a computer. Seems to be getting along just fine. I can't be without computer now that I've become addicted.
Well, off to do some damage to my clutter.
oh Ernie..... cornbread - love it! Used to call it Johnnycake when I was visiting Georga.
I've made cornbread dumplings lately - yummy!
Pegi - addicted to a computer? huh..... what's that? the addiction thing........
lmao - oh yeah, I'm addicted - spend about 11 hrs/day on the blasted thing lol
Sis Kathy!! Not good news on your stove! How many were you cooking for that day? At least you had fried your turkey, right?
Hope everything works out for your party. I'd come help you, if I could! Do you have to have ALL that? How many people are you expecting?
Sorry Sammy is sick, and Crista's babies, too. Hope all get well soon. Congrats on the baby sleeping through the night!
Ernie, I love warm cornbread and milk!! Learnt that from my late Cajun mother in law and for savory cornbread, she'd add ground meat, and the 'trinity'.
We need to take lessons from your neighbour how not to worry, Pegi.
I can't do without a pc, you are in here!! Lol!!
Please continue to pray for me. I know I will come out ahead, and I don't want to run out of patience.
Don't worry sisters, I won't end my life. That will just make things easy on Kel.
Always, Jaye, always....
I'm praying too dear Jaye.....
