8th Annual DG Christmas Floormat Workshop pt 2

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, still beats cleaning up after a big meal though.
Busy at the best of times, can't imagine what a zoo it was

I usually hope there is a delay, rarely ever (think but once) that I leave withought treasures

Imagine, just got up, 8am, unheard of, must make up the time lol

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I was sicker than a dog last night. Diarrhea, vomiting, I don't think it was food poisoning and I'm better now. Good thing, we have about 30 people tomorrow at house tomorrow.

I'll finish the cleaning and then get the master bathroom painted I hope. I can't find the stud-finder and I'm not about to hang that new medicine cabinet until I know certainly where I can safely nail. The electrical will be running along that stud and I do NOT intend to hit it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your feeling better Pat!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well that is not good Pat, with all this going on..company coming and I'll you want to pant a room and hang a cabinet?? And people think I'm a little ĄŁ€#*, you win!

Rest or you will indeed not make it through the celebration.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I slept until noon yesterday, went into town bought the stud finder, ate a chulpa and threw it up. So much for feeling better. Went to bed at 5PM!

I'm up now... going to finish cleaning. You can write your name in the dust on my buffet and fire place mantel. Not good... (I still hope to hang the medicine cabinet!)

Victoria Harbour, ON

well, thing you are doing far too much

do what a friend of mine does, has a few 'get well' cards and puts them helter skelter

then tells everyone she's been under the weather for a few weeks and nothing was able to get done...thus the dust

lol

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

I think I will try that with the get well cards, lol. Brilliant excuse for not dusting!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Never did get that medicine cabinet hung. I was hoping my brother would mount the backer board for me but he didn't, oh well.

Thing went well... it's all cleaned up, even the tablecloths washed folded and put away. My sons restored my "Great" room, returned my cutting table and the table my sister uses, I set up my iron and ready to return to SEWING!!! YEAH! We had moved the loveseat and 2 tables, exercise bike etc in order to set up banquet tables in there for part of the guests. I'm glad it's DONE.

I didn't want anyone to know I'd been sick. My sister would have really felt twice as bad sticking with Thanksgiving at the last minute and I was fine by today. No sense worrying anyone. I asked a son to dust for me. I like the get well card idea LOL!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your dinner is all said and done, and now you can sew! Glad to hear your feeling better too! Any pictures of the baby yet?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Way to go Pat, sounds like to took advantage of people offering to help clean up..forget hanging that cabinet today..enjoy the day, always find sewing relaxing so grab yourself a project

How about you LindaKay, are you feeling well enough be crafting?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am have the snowman glasses all done, and I bought an artificial tree yesterday. It is up, and needs to be decorated. First time ever for me to buy an artificial tree. Walmart had them on sale for $27.00 for a 6.5 foot tree.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What a fantastic deal LindaKay..

So today is decorating day? We're the wine glasses for the lady at the $$$ store?

Suzanne called me yesterday afternoon, thought she had won the lottery but no she was calling because she purchased a real tree..for the last 3 or 4 years her daughter who was staying with her convinced her into a Charlie brown tree.

Suzanne's ornaments are mostly heirloom and Danielle felt with her cat,dog and kids that likely some would get broken.

Her daughter bought a house in September so now Suzanne can do her decorating

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I wish I had a live tree. When we lived in this house the first time I told Bill I wanted to buy an artificial tree since I wanted to put up one in both the living room and the family room. So we bought one and what do you know, I never had a live tree again! 😟

I do love my current tree though. It's prelit and so easy to put together. Has lots of lights, too.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I do artificial Joyce because I put it up so eRly but I do buy hose pine.scent sticks and when you come in you'd almost think its real

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Where do you find the sticks Betty?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Michaels, Joann's and I think big lots
The come I think 8 in a round plastic container

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

I saw them at Home Depot too. Look almost like dark green straws.

I switched to artificial years ago because my youngest son was allergic to trees. Several years later I also developed the allergy. Oh well... no more camping for me!

Victoria Harbour, ON

At least not under the pines

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I saw them at Walmart the other day, too. I thought they were kind of pricey.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Floor mats almost done. One coat of varathane. Waiting to dry for 2 more. .. I put iridescent glitter instead of snowflakes.
Both mats are the same.
Betty, once these are dry can they be rolled up for storage?

LindaKay he is just too adorable
Excellent job, you've got me smilling!
I'm in awe

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Can they be rolled for storage?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes they can, takes a day or so to flatten.

You've a second one I believe, are you doing the other?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have them both done with the same pattern. I liked the smaller snowmen.

Thanks so much for another wonderful tutorial for our Christmas project!

Victoria Harbour, ON

you were ambitious..glad you enjoyed

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I enjoyed it very much!

Victoria Harbour, ON

now if the other do I'll feel better

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Give them time Betty, they will all enjoy them when they get time to do them!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

My sister is out of town until the 15th. I still have the binding on 2 sides and the wall hanging goes up and I tackle the tree skirt next. I'm in charge of the table decorations Tuesday night for a women's meeting (8 tables) and then a church dinner the 11th. The 11th is a little daunting. 30 tables.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Amazed that I have an almost fedora looking hat for the wine glass
You'd think I'd have something better to do wouldn't you?

Just sitting hand sewing..screwed up on two parts had to recut

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

LK that looks great! Is there anything you can't do? lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I have found I can't use a liner brush properly! I need to figure out how to get thin lines!

But following Betty's instructions, makes all these projects so much easier

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

AWESOME LK. ♥♥♥

I have not started mine yet. can't seem to find time to get anything done lately.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hang in there Thunder, you will find time! How are you and the family doing?

Mount Sterling, KY(Zone 6b)

I suppose it takes practice to get those thin lines right. I never was very good at that either. But there probably is some trick to it that makes it easier. Maybe Betty has some technique that she can share. Have a great day, you all!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Only suggestion I have is to get a 000 liner, not scroll because he airs are longer thus harder to control

Also I dip my liner in water ( no dripping wet) then pull paint with liner making a more ink like consistence

It's all in the brush

As I said you can purchase permanent thin Lin marker that is waterproof and that saves a lot re frustration

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Permanent marker is what I used for the smiles, but could not find a white one for the snowflakes. But I will keep practicing.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

we are all a ok. soldier boy and family were here for 5 days! I had to work, but we had some wonderful evenings.
Mom, Dad, Malena went to the Noles/Gator game. Noles won!! Ryleigh stayed here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I know those precious 5 days went by so quickly. Glad you had time with them!
