(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Must get in touch with Stace and find out when Sean will be "available" - he is really busy with indoor baseball... I can't imagine playing baseball in November.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Indoor baseball?

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

That's a new one for me! Indoor baseball....must be a big place!! Love to follow along with all you crafters!

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Yes, I keep eagerly checking, asking my guys to be sure THEY haven't gotten my packet and forgot to tell me... it can happen here!

Glenview, IL

Good morning.
Saw a few smmoshed mats already started, so smiling you did a good job.

Ok got mine unrolled and rested...
Um really stupid question...but is the dark side what jas been sealed? Just making sure.

Inside base ball? Cool and warm too!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Inside baseball, how wonderful, keeps the youth out of mischief

Judy, not the wood design you would normally put on the floor but the underneath is what you paint

Almost grey tone

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Well, I have mine put away for a few days, till I get back from Michigan.

Ocean Springs, MS

Have a fun trip, LK!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Linda be sure to bundle up, we have that Arctic blast heading this way.

Ocean Springs, MS

Here is my mat with faces done. I am doing something different with the border. Will post another pic tomorrow!

Ahhhh, thought all were going to do the large snowmen..so glad you did this one

Now what will you do for a border?

Safe travels tomorrow lindakay

Ocean Springs, MS

It's a surprise! Got to wait for tomorrow when I post the picture! I do plan on doing another mat to put in front of the sink, but it has to wait until I finish my other projects. That's when I'm trying the other pattern!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Julie that is awesome. Can't wait to see your border.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Looking good Julie, your Dresden plate does too.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Still no package here... I look everyday and quiz the guys. I'm afraid it will come and they won't tell me! LOL

Ocean Springs, MS

Thanks, LK and Karen. I'm very proud of that Dresden plate. Sewed another today. I'm thinking of getting ambitious and trying to make a queen size quilt with the Dresden plate after Christmas. I bought a queen size bed frame, but have to wait till Christmas is done before I buy the mattress set. Would be a pretty quilt for my new bed.

Pat, I hope your package comes soon! It's nerve-wracking when you're having to wait to join the fun!

Betty, thank you again for doing this every year! :) Sure brings a lot of fun and happiness to the family!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

This is a Dresden Plate I saw at the last quilt show. I went to tutorial on it, Easy Peasy, just gather the center until the petals have the dimension you want. You can either just tack down the tip of the petals or sew them all the way. I want to do this one for sure.

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Betty, I would never expect you to bear the expense of sending another. It's not like you are making money on these! LOL

Guess, like you said, I live FAR away from you!

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Julie, Love the mat, wonderful! I still haven't had time to start mine, so much going on this weekend.

Yesterday was a town hall meeting on a solar energy co-op and then we (DH and I) had to pick up and move 93 folding tables into our trailer for this coming weekend's holiday fair sponsored by our local business women's association. I'm not a member anymore but I do like to help the community in small ways and this is one of them. My back hurts a little but not as bad as I thought it would; I tried to be very careful how I handled the large tables.

Karen, very pretty that Dresden Plate, could you post the tutorial link?

Pat, have my fingers crossed you receive your kit today! I know what it's like to be waiting on packages, we live about 1/2 mile away from our mailbox which is on the main road. Things would sometimes go missing if the mailperson didn't want to take a trip down to our house to drop the package off. I finally caved and pay for a PO Box now, the savings in aggravation is more than worth the cost for me.

Gals,

Major water damage at the house , 7"
Been up all night
Called my insurance , say no coverage

No phone or Internet connection, at a friends to tell you not to worry

Damage put phones out

Be back as soon as I can

Was up all night trying to rid water , guess nerves got best of me, vomiting and other

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Terri the tutorial was live at the quilt show. If you've ever made a Dresden plate, you know they are easy. To shape into a flower, simply run gathering stitches around the center and pull up until you like the effect. Then put on center circle. You can either sew it down completely around the outside edges or just tack the tips of the flowers, whatever appeals to you.

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks Karen, stupid question but they are appliqued to the background square, right?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

No question is ever stupid.

Yes they are appliqued either by hand or machine.

I want to try this really soon, Thinking I can make them look like poinsettias on a tree skirt.

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks! That's funny, I was thinking about that too, making them in red for a tree skirt! The store ones are sooo pricey!

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

When I first saw it that's what popped into my head. Poinsettias.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Back up and running

Both mentally and physically exhausted

Will keep checking should some have questions

Pat, did you get yours?

(Pat) Kennewick, WA(Zone 5b)

Nope, not yet. Betty, what caused the water problem? Did I miss that part?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will look for receipt Nd see where it is at present..sump pumps didn't kick in, apparently they had mega rain on Saturday

Should be able to get all cleaned up today, Saturday DS Greg will make a trip to the dump for me

Survived it though

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

My DD and DSIL had a back-up system for their sump pump after it failed and they had a flood. I don't know exactly what it was, never having had dealings with a sump pump, but they never had a problem again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear of all the damage Betty. Wish I was closer to help you clean up. What all was damaged?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Karen, I have a regular sump pump then put a backup one run on battery incase power went out so double duty so not quite sure what happened..by end of today all but the dryer will have been fixed..getting rid of the debris might be the problem

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

So sorry to hear of your flood Betty!

I asked my husband (he is a former insurance agent) and he says here in the States most normal insurance covers internal floods, e.g pipes bursting, high winds blowing a corner of your roof off causing a leak - all except damage caused by neglect such as a pipe that leaks for many years and causes mildew, roof collapse, etc.
He says floods caused by rising water are not covered, however, if the rising water causes a short and a fire, then you are covered for the fire loss,.

Do you know yet where the water came from, was it external or internal? Is it possible it was a leak in the roof somehow? we had a roof leak in a brand new house where a lower roof attached to the house and the seam leaked but we found the water in the basement, no sign of it on the floor below the roof leak.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Flood at DD & SIL's was a small ball that got into the sump hole and blocked the arm that starts the pump. They had 3 small boys at the time. They then added a battery back-up and an alarm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

So much rain, sump pump and back up battery usually handles it but think the float was the problem, moved it around and started to work

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Sounds like it was an internal flood caused by a defect in the sump pump and not an outside flood, any chance the insurance company might reconsider if you brought that up?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Can always ask Betty.

Victoria Harbour, ON

She asked I leave it with her for a few days, will do so then ask
Tks for your thoughts

Just went into my fabric stash cupboard, bottom layer damp so will wash when I get the dryer up and running
