Lk yep the computer is a charm. This is back to win 7 for me I hated that stupid win 8.1. The project is on track and by the number I am guessing two more weeks and if so I am good with that. The counter tops are looking good as are the cabinets which are awesome and the flooring looks to be super. How is your dad? Better I hope.
Just a gray day today with a blustery breeze it rained a bit this morning but that didn't last long just enough to wet the ground.
I planted some sweet potatoes again this year. Last year they didn't grow but this year it was hotter. I got more plants from Bonnie from the coffee thread. Her hubby grows some monster. Mine are making runners this year so if the freezes hold off for a while longer I just may get a sweet potato. This is all about getting one to harvest it has nothing to do with being cheaper than at the store because if it was about dollars and cents I would burn my gh and all my tools and be at the store when it opened every morning lol.
Rm 295 "Sweet Interruptions" Hotel
hey everyone
not much going on here
Ernie good to hear your remodel is going good. Those can often be a nightmare. I used to grow sweet potatoes and had good success. I don't do it anymore.
made meatloaf , mash pot's and corn tonight. Savannah liked it. With the tv down in the basement , it sure is nice to actually talk at the dinner table. Tim always had to have the tv on , drove me crazy !!!
work at apple orchard tomorrow .
Jaye i m looking forward to our visit in Nov !!!
Gardening is like sewing, more work, more expense but also more satisfaction.
Glad to hear the remodeling is going good for you Ernie! I have not heard anything good about windows 8!
Dad is doing very good, thanks for asking!
Jaye, I am glad you are able to shop online at walmart.
Sue, that meatloaf dinner sure sounds good!
Karen, I agree, sometimes doing it yourself is more costly, but the self rewarding is more important!
Karen In the old days before that lousy school blocked my view I would sit in my gh warm as buttered toast and doze in view of the mountain. My then sweet cat Sugar would find my lap and purr and kneed . I sometimes sat beside the fresh tilled dirt and pondered tomorrow. I really like to stuff it full of transplants and see the instant garden with not a weed in sight.
Taynors I am not standing in line to give China jobs besides wait and the price will go down.
Had the Geek Squad go through my computer again. All those darn pop up ads and running slow. It took a tech hours to get rid of the ads. Finally working together he got it fixed right. The stuff that they go through is amazing. They even had a place called a MRI, had to laugh at that one.
Weather has finally cooled down to the 80's. At least I feel I can get some things done. We have a lot more scrap iron here so we may get some spending money yet. Well, off to check on my plants.
Ernie, you should pick up writing. You have a way with words.
Hello everyone. Just a short note here.. sorry.
Had sick kitties to attend to. Muffin Man had a bobo on his foot that required stitiches.
Another had a flu flare up, thank God, vet didn't require her to come in, just to pick up the meds along with Muffin Man.
Tried to give Goldie her antibiotics but she can't hold it down, so had to give it every half hour one unit till a whole cc's given. Then start all over again.
Plus making sure she's hydrated.
As much as I complain about Kel, I am really in awe of this man who lovingly said, his OT paycheck will go to the (another term for) cats again. There goes his brand new shoes.
Will be back.
Bless you Jaye and Kel for taking care of all those rescues! Hope they are all feeling better soon!
Hey Sue! Thought you might like to know October Fest that you and I went to last year is this weekend. Thought you might like to take Tom.
Isn't today Friday?
yup it is Friday.
It's Friday in the rain in washington
Well the house has got me almost pinned but I am keeping myself up on one shoulder afloat and on an even keel by remembering the storm of the night will ease off at first light and the tumultuous seas will calm. I feel like I have been cast away into the black hole of outer space. I find myself doing the back stoke as the current pulls me round and around as I careen towards the last star gate. I am not afraid of these thoughts for I know they are just a tiny speck of my great imagination and tomorrow morning I will reload.
The floor is complete but the trim needs doing and the appliances installed. They are here mostly we just can't figure out what to do about the kitchen sink. Ours is bigger than any sink we have found. I am hesitant to use it because should it get damaged it would require a farmer fix and I would hate to see that in a very expensive hunk of wood like our butcher block counter top. I think I will take it to my gh and just buy a standard sink. Decisions decisions.
someone's got to make them. Looks like another week will about do it if they stay at it.
I want a cigarette. I haven't had one for 7 years. After smoking for 54 years I quit cold turkey. I want one right now I want to feel it hang from my lip, letting the smoke rise lazily up my face and into my eyes making me squint. I want to smell and taste it. I won't have even a puff for to do so would cause me to have another and another and within two days I would be a full time smoker again. No cigars or pipes either. The good is I don't miss the bronchitis and the coughing. I like not shelling out 15 to 20 bucks a day to finance my bittersweet
habit.
I am a happy camper. They took the cast off my foot and pronounced the ulcer on the ball of my foot healed. This was healed in march to. Next Wednesday I have an appointment with a dr who may decide to cut the tendons in my big toe and just let it flop in an attempt to remove some pressure on that spot.
Morrning everyone!
Sounds like the kitchen redo is on schedule.
Don't give into that cigarette craving. I too know how hard it is to give them up.
Glad to hear your foot ulcer is healed! Must be a relief to get rid of that cast!
Hang in there, I too would go back to smoking in a heart beat. I have given myself permission to start again if I am ever told I only have so long left. I will go straight to the store and buy smokes. Until then, no can do.
I try to take care of my feet with diabetes. Before I would go barefoot a much as possible and now I never do. My Dr. checks every visit but I tell her not to worry, if they ever stop hurting, I will know there is a problem.
Some great horse stories, and that picture of grandson with horse is GREAT. I think I did go horse back riding in another life time. Think I did it once or twice and wasn't afraid then, too old to even think about it now.
Ernie you should be a writer. You have such a great way with words. If you write a book let me know and I will be sure to read it.
It is still a little cool so I went out and starting pulling up the morning glories, they take over everything in no time at all. Didn't get my sweet peas sowed yet, but will work on it today if it stays cool. Ran out of pain pills so until I go to doctor I'll have to rely on the patches I have. Forgot how easy my back decides to start aching. Think I should start out in front first. Have a neighbor who just can't seem to mind her own business and loves to complain to the city.
Smoked when I first started working, every one is the office could smoke then and we didn't know how bad it was for you. I think I smoked to be like the rest of them. So glad it didn't become a bad habit. Now if I can get my son to quit I'd be happy.
Karen yes if they told me I had the crud we would be in a foot race to purchase a carton. I take Lycria for my hurting feet it settles them down. Seems like every time I end up in the hospital that is the first drug they take away. It is hard on my kidneys whose function has diminished to 25%. At 12% one needs dialysis. Not a happy thought.
Pegi I am just a simple farm boy. The moments of clarity are prolly the reflection of me in another life. As a boy my mother read to me until I grew old enough to read for myself. I became an incessant reader many times reading two books a day. I like most kids read under the covers with a flash light. Not much chance of being caught because I slept on the second story. No one could get up the stairs without me hearing them lol. Sometimes I would hear my mother Sugar are you reading . Oh mama it is so dark how could I read. Then one day she asked me if I had been using all her flashlight batteries. Well Mama maybe a couple lol she was on to me. My mother was the greatest person in my young life. She played catch with me. I miss my mother to this day.

I agree, Ernie. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it! What a way of putting your thoughts down!
Sue, sorry about your meal.
Looks like it could rain. I wish it would since we need it.
Good morning everyone.
As expected a better SEC team trounced my tiger cubs. But Mama here is still proud of them, they were 3 tds away from catching up, but did a great 'comeback' in the final quarter. Lost by only FIVE points!!
Pegi, you are right. Besides the Carolina Jessamine, I'm fighting with wild morning glories. Even tried to take over one of my cypress trees.. quite an ambitious weed!
Ernie, when that day comes when you are physically unable to work in your garden, at least you know books will be your solace.. Linda of course! And don't pick up a cigarette, chew on a gum!
It was my father that instilled a love for reading in me. He'd make sure I read the daily papers and he'd be quizzing me on the highlight of the day including politics. Taught me the fine art of debates too. My mother would leave me alone if I were to hold a book and let me missed my chores. Plenty of times, I'd do just that to avoid housework, but I'd be in my own fantasy land instead of reading!
Lyrica doesn't work for me anymore. It's okay since I had to pay full price having no insurance. There's this opiate drug my sister sent from France that helped my feet.
I don't ever go barefoot too. But as Karen says, when my feet quit buzzing, then it's time to start worrying.
Thanks Sue.. I replied.. :) Hugs back sistah! This playoff system will ensure that only teams that win over strong opponents will be guaranteed a slot. Seems that a couple of "once upon a time everyone thought they're great conferences", have been exposed.
Never been to an Oktoberfest, Cookie. Beer has never been a beverage of choice for me.
Enjoy yourself! Eat all the bratwurst you can for me!
As for the kitties LK. I have to take over Muffin Man. Papa wasn't giving him the right amt. of antibiotics. Said it's a struggle to keep him still. Muffin Man is a finicky eater, so I can't risk wasting antibiotics mixed in his food.
As for Goldie, she is slowly recovering. Another finicky eater, but at least she's small enough to handle.
I make sure I spend extra personal time with the sick kitties. Nothing sounds good as soft purrs..
Karen, Pegi.. my reading has been curtailed! Once the patients don't need my attention, Father Tim and Barnabas will be seeing me more!! Thank you again for such a great author.
Yesterday Kel took the time to bring me to Marietta Gardens. The gift cert that my sistahs gave me here is already 2 years old!! John Shooter had assured me that it doesn't have an expiration date.
I had made 3 choices and only 2 were available. Their garden had been reduced drastically, only the quality ones remain. In their golden years now, and saying they can't compete with folks that chose to share their dls or the cheaper priced ones.
They had also suggested that we buy out their business. Then I laughed out loud!! We had a very nice visit. Mutual love for cats helped in the convo. Fay has never been an easy read, till yesterday. We were the only customers, and I got to know her warm side.
As usual, John's extra generous. Kept telling me not to divide the fans till all are established which might take a couple of years, to ensure rigorous clumps! Kel was happy to hear that :D
The biggest surprise came from Fay. Before we say our goodbyes, she drove back to the field on her go cart, accompanied by Baby her cat.. returned and gave me "Sweet Baby of Mine" as a token of appreciation!! I'm not into pinks, so I don't remember that name. But when I checked online later, look...
http://www.mariettagardens.com/Introdetail2.asp?Flowerno=18310
Still a very generous couple.
Beautiful Jay, hope it does well for you and you'll always remember who gave it to you.
Wow! That's a pricey gift!! You must have made a great impression! Beautiful DL. Looks a little pale peachy to me. Don't think of it as that four letter P word! ;o)
Morning everyone.
Jaye, I am so glad to hear you were able to go to the gardens and pick out some pretties. And that free one is beautiful.
Karen, daylilies aren't divas so they don't complain about my poor soil. Only have to feed them once a year.
Cookie, did you read the description? It mentioned soft baby P, sistah!! I don't mind if they bloom in my garden, not on my body!! Lol!
LK, it was certainly a treat for me. Always online shopping and that rare sale find at Lowe's last year. I don't get out enough to see what's new in the garden world.
Shark Attack, Wise Woman and Tie Dye Illusion, were my choices after pondering whether I should just splurge on the whole gift cert on a $$$ DL. Of course, my conscience won. Tie Dye was sold out, but Mr. John offered to sell his 2015 seedlings, assured to bloom next year, for half the regular cost. I got 10 for 5 each! They are all crosses from great parents, so there's no way I can refuse that! Mr. John said, he'll let me name my own blooms as he knows I'll never sell them.
Pics.. Tie Dye is the last one.
http://www.mariettagardens.com/intros.asp
That's the link to their own introductions, sistahs.
Boy, that middle one glows!!
That's Wise Women, Cookie! Too bad you don't care for DLs
I'll just admire them in everyone else's gardens!! ;o)
And I'll just have to admire your pond... Cookie.
Kel just told me that I should look good in pink. YUCK!!
Off to play kitty nurse.
ETA: If anyone wonders why I don't trade DLs, though I have a huge collection, it's because I'm afraid of "rust' being introduced to my DLs by outside sources. Plus Kel isn't a good helper!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THAT'S HOW WE ROLE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Everything is fine in the Saban nation
Jaye, those are beautiful! How long till the seedlings bloom?
Hey Kathy, are you getting the family settled in yet?
For now, they are called seedlings till their flowers are named. Mr. John said they're supposed to bloom next year and be the 2015 introductions. These are actually full grown plants, LK.
Congrats on your team's win Sis. Muschamp may have to look for another job!
Sounds like you will have more beauties in your garden!
The fun will be in naming them. The Shooters sell other hybridizers' work too. Mr. John said there might be some weird or ugly ones. Haven't met any that I don't like, just hope they won't be all P, LK.
As long as it is in your garden, and not on your tshirts!
Hi - back from camping
Only "adventure" we had this time was me leaving the cooler/fridge plugged into the vehicle and letting the battery drain...... borrowed a trickle charger from the campground managers & "3rd time's a charm" found the right battery was the 3rd one we tried. The other 2 are for the RV.......
Mornin' ladies and Ernie. Coffee is on but alas no baking again so it is just coffee. Besides it is best not to have to many sweets with so many here that shouldn't over indulge.
Needed yesterday to recover! I know it has always been said the 4th quarter belongs to the Noles but really!!! That was a little to long for them to finally showing they owned it!!! This Nole fan is overjoyed they benched Winston for the entire game. What ever is going though that boys mind!! Don't answer. What a relief to see we do have a good back up quarterback who given some time and nerves settling, just might give him a run for his money.
CONGRATS Kathy. Sorry everyone but I was so happy to see the Tide clear out the Swamp!!! I can only imagine what yesterday was like in Gainesville...pretty much know after having lived there for 35 years.
