Good morning sistahs and brother Ernie.
Nice cool morning and yes it seems that fall will be early. Let's hope winter won't be too far behind. (NO, just kidding)
Wasn't a productive day yesterday, but contented to do nothing except for taking pictures of anything that moves in this house and the ones that can stand still outside.
Yes Pegi, I'm alive when football is here, much more than Kelvin. We both are avid Amazing Race fans. The only reality contest where the winning is honest and the pair win by their own efforts, and rules have to be observed. Couldn't wait for that!
Coffee is ready, and it's about time I take out that bottle of Bailey's!
Just some Danish to go with that!
BBL.

Good morning Jaye, only one up so far, but I think I'm hearing Missy Amelia so it won't be long until her little sunshiney smile brightens my day.
Cute kitty!!
Sue and I had fun yesterday. She got some really cute clothes. Nothing fit me. No one carried XL. L was as large as they went. Guess I should start watching what I stuff in my face!
Off to clean house... Have a great day!
Good morning here it's gray but dry and think the gray will clear later. Jaye you wish winter would get here and I wish it would stay away. I understand your wish, as it will remove that awful humidity . It will bring the freezing rain and winter to me lol, Is kitty a large one I like nice big cats. Our black kit goes about 14 pounds.
Lolol!!! Sorry Ernie, sometimes my sarcasm is too much for even myself!! Noooo... I dislike winter!!! I should add a NO in parenthesis! Will edit that.
Forrest is huge compared to its sibling Goldie. Its mother dropped him off at our doorsteps, sick and with an injured paw. His original name was Gizmo, and the vet didn't give it any hope. We nursed it back to health, and when it finally started using its leg, it ran as much as it could. Kel started calling it Forrest Gump! That name stuck.
Oh Cookie, I wish I can fit into an XL top. My triple Ds won't let that!!!
Sue, nowadays the sizes aren't of the same cuts as thirty years ago! So, the large of now is actually medium!
Cooked roast beef in a slow cooker last night. Having that for lunch along with creamed potatoes with jalapeno cheese sauce.
Our potatoes for the month!
Just discovered serrano chili is just too hot for me so when I ever get around to making the salsa verde LK posted I'll use a much milder one.
Better get to my large basket of laundry before it gets too hot out. When the weatherman says it is going to cool down he meant only by 1 or 2 degrees and that still isn't cool. I'm afraid that the month of Sept. will be another hot one for us so have to put up with heat for a while yet.
You don't have to use Serrano chillies Pegi! For the green color effect, maybe you can try those mild banana peppers.
Good morning everyone. Thought I'd have a quiet afffair on Labor Day, but Kel had other plans. On the road in the afternoon, thank God I had cooked.
Hope yesterday was a good one for all with great food and company or just relaxing.
LK, are you home? I got my Salsa Verde!! Nope, didn't make it, after I see this jar of Roasted Salsa Verde by Table Market that beckons me. Hey, beats buying all the ingredients and labor over the stove! Lol! I will let you know how it tastes.
This will go with a pork roast with fajita seasoning, I have in the oven right now!
Yes, another morning of early rising. God is good as I am not waking up to headaches nor body aches.
DD coffee with fruit muffins. Karen, hope Amelia likes blueberry muffin.
Have a fantastic Tuesday everyone.
Morning, thanks for breakfast.
Thanks for the coffee. I don't know about Amelia liking blueberry muffins but I love them. Thanks again.
Very quiet day here yesterday. Kim spent most of the day getting lesson plans done for the week. I mostly puttered around the house. To hot to do anything else.
Yes, I can't believe we are getting heat!!!
Sis Kathy I hope you are back to normal stress. What is normal to you? Lolol.
Puttering around the house is a stress reliever for me Marion, besides sewing.. since sex is a rare word nowadays! Hehehee...
Here they are..
Pork roast bbq actually, with the bark... and the salsa.
Amelia loves blueberry anything thank you. In fact she's a very good eater, the one thing she won't eat is potatoes in any form.
Scape the salsa Verde of which LK speaks is good and I must say especially good on pork. My son worked with a guy who was married to a woman from central Mexico. He got the recipe from her.
It's a funny thing about food. Everyone thinks everyone else's food is better than the food at home. It isn't really but just seems that way because you don't have to fix it.
Wow a bit after 6 and it's still o dark outside. Today will be a good day I am about to go fishing. A friend since the 3rd grade has invited me to go on his boat. A very nice boat it is to all 42 feet of it. I had a 32 once and that was just right. I like Randy's boat to ride on and the fishing is ok but there is an awful lot of work to keep that thing a thing of beauty. And I could only guess at the expense of up the keep. Helps that he lives on a canal and has a dock at home.
Pegi send some heat up here if you have extra you are welcome to our cool. Some days it's down right chilly mid 50's. The green house is so nice on those days I often sit ther and have a bit of a nap.
Oops time to go. I was on the phone and the time sped by.
well, i fell off my porch today, scraped my leg all to pieces, and jared my back.
just made banana bread, have roasted tomatoe sauce in the oven, then i'm going to make pear cake, from the pears off my trees.
other than that i'm fine as frog hair
Thanks for all your prayers! Bill sailed through his first surgery. Surgery was at 7:30 and we were pulling in to Micky D's at 9:10. All went great! Now if Thursday's surgery goes as well, we'll be happy campers!
Sissy! I'm putting you in a straight jacket!!
Glad to hear all went well Joyce.
Count on me helping put her in a straight jacket......knowing her, she would still find a way to hurt herself. :-)
The bought salsa's awesome!!! For under four bucks, tis worth getting another jar. Yes, I had some smeared on the meat. Of course with pineapple pico de gallo on the side. Ate too much acidic fruits lately that I'm getting mouth ulcer. Got to put a stop to that. Oh, had black beans too.
I'm blessed that there are three great Mexican restaurants nearby. From 3 different regions, and they taught me to avoid Taco Bell.
Pretty sure I was a Mexican in my past life.
Sue, menopause can alter your moods drastically. You're a great canner, so when will you pass down your talent to Savannah.
Ernie, I'd love to live on a boat. My ex' BIL had a houseboat, and I love to spend time on it. Love waking up to the sound of birds, splashing of gators... buzzing of mosquitoes.. Lol!!
Got to add that in, as of course, bayous aren't Shangrilas! To enjoy freshly caught catfish, that's a treat.
Hope you catch plenty and I'm sure you clean your own catch, right?
Jaye
I'll help you Cookie..
Must have missed your post mentioning Bill's surgery. Now I shall pray for the next surgery. What kind of surgery, Cookie?
Sis...Kathy... oh Sis.... :(
.
i am fine
Jaye, Bill got an IVC filter. It filters all the blood from the lower body to the heart. It's like an umbrellas' spine. It blocks any big clots. Thursday is the removal of his 4 cm kidney stone!
glad Bill 's surgery went well. hooray.
my my we fall down , then bake banana bread hmmmm , no more falling. OK ! stop it. :)
calling the medicaid . still waiting to see if i qualify. hope it doesn't take to long
my gym workout was good. boy am i soar. she added weights
What is this about Crissy pregnant !!1 ??? our Crissy ? !
No! Our Crissy is not preggo!
Soar as in flying or sore as in aching? ;o)
Kind of a long day. Son & I went to 3 stores and that's a little too much for me. All groceries too. I don't even bother to look at any clothes as the prices are really "soaring" (that ones for Sue), Don't think I'd go shopping often, but when you run out of coffee creamer and dog food all at the same time......well. I'm spoiled with Coffeemate creamer. Love the Irish Creme, but the store always seems to be out of that. Sweet Italian creme is good too. Didn't get my nap in today, so I'm dragging around. In the early morning it is nice and cool and wish it would stay at way all day. Haven't been to Lowe's in months, I bet they miss me. I'm usually in the garden section and I do want a couple of house plants. Maybe next week we will make it.
Kathy you are moving too fast if you keep falling down!! Girl, you have to slow down, just give me a little of your excess energy. I go at a very slow pace since I'm afraid of falling and breaking a hip, etc. My feet always seem to get in my way.
Hello everyone, I am back home. I had a great week end. I am tired, as I had to help my son move from one lace to the other. I did no lifting, but just driving him back and forth was tiresome!
I will catch up on all I have missed soon!
Coffee is ready!
Blueberry muffins are ready too!!!
My favorite..thanks Barb. BTW, coffee is DD.
Only kind there is Marion and to think DD started up here in the North. I'm glad they spread south so you could enjoy it also....
Morning everyone! Thanks for breakfast ladies!
wow ladies (and gentleman!) busy folks!!!!!!
let us see now -
LK, glad you had a good time!
DD= Dunkin Donuts........ (sorry, no question marks, or others - keyboard acting up)
Kathy - yes, move slower! Take great care!
Joyce - so glad Bills surgery went well - Praise God! Now, I am sure his 2nd will go well too
Sue - hope you have some news re Medicaide
No, Crissy is not preggo - it is Bettys friend Ritas daughter Crissy who is pregnant
Jaye - I agree Salsa, and a BOAT! lol
Ernie - we must be having the same weather - windy, blowing rain, and cooling down. Summer is not gone YET though - we go RVing on Friday :-)
Love to everyone, and sorry if I missed anyone!!!
The fishing yesterday was pretty good. The rain rained the wind blew and the waves waved lol and now is the good part. We boated two 16 pounders and lost two others. No excuse to lose two good fish.
Soon it will be time to till the garden and put it to bed for the winter. I have two huge farm truck loads of partially composted manure to dress it with. Boy my rhubarb loves the stuff. I like to bury it deep in the fall and let it break down on top the ground. In the spring I will give it a light coat just as the growth starts to clear the surface.
The tearing out is still taking place. Yesterday He changed a sheet of sub floor from under the sink dishwasher area. It wasn't really bad and I probably could have used it but no way am I putting good flooring over suspect material.
Am not a happy camper someone's Golden retriever ate my foot dressing now I have to go to town and get some new. I bet they are going to like this. Oh well even the best kids sometimes do dumb things. Ok off to town.
morning everyone, i beez here. haven't fell yet today
I agree no excuse to lose 2 big fishs! LOL Can't believe it is time for people to start thinking about putting their gardens to bed for the winter but that comes from living in the south. Absolutely love rhubarb!!! Was introduced to it when I lived in Canada a year with my late brother and sister in law. Now when I go visit my niece in London, Ont. she always has a pie for me...with some butter tarts on the side.
Good to know you beez here Kathy...and no falls...keep it that way.
Preparing dinner for my son and his family tonight. My DIL still is not up to par following the miscarriage last week so mom to the rescue.
Ernie, my DH would have been in 7th heaven catching 16 pounders. He loved to fish, but not too much luck at times. I definitely love rhubarb too, just wish we could grow it here. I drool when I think of strawberry/rhubarb pie.
Go slow Kathy, although even going slow I can take a tumble.
My day is starting out slow as usual, can't make plans as they never work out.
I don't think Sis Kathy knows the meaning of the word "Go Slow" unless it's a traffic sign!!
Barbara, we can brag about DD since we don't have a Tim Horton's!! Oh yes, DD is better than Starbucks, sorry Marion.
Bill deserves all the good prayers and well wishes for his surgery and recovery Cookie. That's a big stone, yikes.
Hey there Susan, thanks for clearing that up. Was gonna check Crissy's FB page. Am glad that she's still going strong with Joel.
Ernie, the fish that got away? What kind of fish were they? Yup, no excuse.. some can't even bag a pounder!!!
Was telling Kel that soon he'd have to get some pine mulch as there are new DLs to be protected. He said we're still in summer as the heat was registering 90s.. duh
I gave up on planning, Pegi. Very rarely my body would cooperate with my mind. So, as much as I tell myself to seize the day.. it seems the day will desert me again.
Spent hours at the eye doctor this morning.
A couple of months back, I picked up my new glasses and when I got home, I found I can't read with the new reading pair. The glasses for driving are fine.
Called the optometrist and she wanted me to return when my blood sugar stabilized. For on that day, it was a tad high.
Welllllllllllll.... after a few postponements, finally returned to the doc. She was on an extended vacation, but her boss was there, and he was very confused as to why I had to return to using WM reading glasses when the prescription was right. He tested my eyes, still the same results, my blood sugar was registering 130, no worries there.. and he admitted he had never seen a patient with my predicament.
I kept telling him that I can't see with the prescribed ones, even with the charts he showed me.
He said that my right eye was registering a minus 3, while my left is a plus 3, so my prescription shouldn't be so severe. (I was using WM +3)
I thought I was going blind, and he reassured me that I'm not. He's bent to find out what went wrong.
To prove to him that I'm not lying, I asked him to give me something to read. He handed my personal info chart. The minute I held it to my face, that was the Eureka moment for him.
I was holding it 6 inches away, that's how close I hold any reading materials.
The other optometrist had tested my sight, with the charts back at 27 inches! That's actually how 'close' one should hold books. menus.. etcetra.. etcetra..
When I held the personal info at that distance, I can read!
He did apologize that I had to return and told me that I can return the prescribed reading glass if I wanted to. But he did add, if I held reading materials that close, my eyesight will get worse. Well, I will just have to readjust the distance..
I am just glad that the Lord made sure the original optometrist wasn't there, if not, she'd still blame it on my diabetes!!
Now I understand why I had to increase the font size on this pc to 175 percent!!! Not anymore, got my glasses on, face not almost kissing the screen!! Lol!!
Kel wasn't too happy that we lost 4 hours because of that optometrist carelessness. Apparently she was supposed to have ask me first, how close do I hold my books. All these could have been avoided, and I can trust my blood glucose meter!!!
