Mystery squash

Duluth, MN

OK, here we go again! I planted four Cocozelle summer squash (a Latin zucchini). But they didn't all turn out the same - two are the actual Cocozelle squash on the seed packet and two are as below -- These mystery squash almost look more like winter squash than summer! They are very fibrous inside, uniformly oblong (not bulb-like on one end at all), and grow to about 6-8" in diameter, then just get LONG. They grow very very quickly. I haven't tasted one yet, but I'm wondering if I should wait and see if they develop into something as a winter squash, or if I should try to harvest them very small?
Haven't tasted it -
COuld these be a Loofah or a wierd Spaghetti squash? It's really stringy inside at this size, unlike most Zucchini that just are mealy at that size...
Interestingly enough, I had some of what appear to be exactly the same thing last year....
Any ideas?
Extension service suggested a Kuta or a Grey Zucchini?

Did you start with plants or seeds? Might be able to track it down if you know the source. Kuta is rare and while it has similar shape, it starts out light green. Is it a bush plant or a vine? Definitely not a loofa (sponge gourd). Don't know of any Grey zuchhini with that shape and coloring. If it is a vine I would treat it as a winter squash.

Seeds - Cocozelle seeds to be exact! I will check if it's a vine or not. If I remember correctly, NOT a vine but a bush....

I would try it at 3-4 inches as a zucchini. One of the problems with OP varieties is that growers are not always careful enough to insure seed purity. You probably got some crosspollinated seeds.

I'll give that a try. Bigger does not seem to be better in this case....

Second the spaghetti squash

finnbee indicated that the plant was a bush, not a vine. I believe SS is a vine like other winter squash. The fruit sure looks like an immature SS tho.

In picture #1, the squash is making spaghetti as you can see on the left of photo. Maybe some seeds from plants that have crossed.

Im just going by what the other posts say. That is one of the suggestions but the original poster said it was not a vine but a bush.....not trying to argue just trying to make suggestions using the info that has been given already. The thread starter mentioned SS in the first post and Farmerdill mentioned that the store bought seeds may not be pure....
