OK, here we go again! I planted four Cocozelle summer squash (a Latin zucchini). But they didn't all turn out the same - two are the actual Cocozelle squash on the seed packet and two are as below -- These mystery squash almost look more like winter squash than summer! They are very fibrous inside, uniformly oblong (not bulb-like on one end at all), and grow to about 6-8" in diameter, then just get LONG. They grow very very quickly. I haven't tasted one yet, but I'm wondering if I should wait and see if they develop into something as a winter squash, or if I should try to harvest them very small?
Haven't tasted it -
COuld these be a Loofah or a wierd Spaghetti squash? It's really stringy inside at this size, unlike most Zucchini that just are mealy at that size...
Interestingly enough, I had some of what appear to be exactly the same thing last year....
Any ideas?
Extension service suggested a Kuta or a Grey Zucchini?
