Sure hope you get your lunch Marion!

Morning everyone! 80 degrees already, so it looks like another 100+ day!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

has anyone seen my food processer? it seems to be lost

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Have a great trip Marion! Don't try to tempt Kim into eating what she shouldn't be.

It 's good to know your ancestors, Karen.

On my father's side, his grandma's family was of royal Indonesian bloodline that fled the Dutch occupation in Indonesia. The family dropped the prefix prince or princess when they started a new beginning in Singapore.
I brought that up in one gardening forum on FB, and got a very rude response from a Dutch Indonesian saying the Dutch wasn't cruel to the natives. I was shocked when she used the word native!!! Nothing's changed then? And the funny thing is, she's moved to Canada!!
Paternal grandpa... Indonesian.. moved to Singapore as a child. During WW2, the Japs sent him to a camp.. guess where? Indonesia. Five years later, though released earlier, after saving enough money for boat fare, he returned, only to find out that he was reported dead.. and on the eve of his wife's wedding. That was heartbreaking for dad.

On my mother's side, grandma and sister were adopted by Egyptian traders when they had dealings in Shanghai, China. They moved to Singapore.. no other relatives.
Maternal grandad had Indonesian, Malay and Indian heritage. He's a character!! He worked for the US Embassy for 30 years. A break during the war..
I think he knew one of his grandkids will be a US citizen.

As for invites to palaces. There would be none. Though I can see my ancestral palace in Jakarta, Indonesia for an admission price!!

Sis Kathy, why do you need a food processor for?

Its 88 too here, LK. The rains had flattened my old Rose Of Sharon bush.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry about your flowers Jaye!

Interesting family histories everyone! Not for sure but I think my Mothers family came from England.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

found my bfood processer. it was at target! making salsa

FU, United States(Zone 9b)

Taynor, wasn't trying to insult you. But have a good one.
When I say weird or sarcastic things about stuff, I'm really referring to me or my own life (from things in the past or the present).

And, no I am not taking a break from this site or thread because of anyone on here.
I do work online, then would come to Dave's Garden,... and I would sometimes get depressed from being online too much, too often. So, I thought it would be good if I took a break from just doing things online for a while (every so often), no other reason. ------ Everyone has 'always' been great on here.

Anyway, have a good week everyone. Talk to ya'll soon.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, Kel likes to brag that his family's roots are in Normandy.

Depress?? What is that, Christine?? Lol!!
Come to us when you're depress. We're the experts at giving you hugs and we'll try to make you laugh too.
Understand where you're coming from. As I said, from time to time, one sistah would go missing.. look at Sistah Judy.. (her pc is the cause) and then reappear.
Sistahs here can tell you that I'm the queen of depression and if not for them here, I think I'll overdose long time ago. Not ashame to say that I need them, and will be forever grateful that no one judge me here.

Sis Kathy, I love salsa with extra onions and cilantro.

its count down to fair. i have so many things to do.
also the production company that is filming Jessica's story is coming the monday after fair. aug 11 .

took kids and their friends to water park. very entertaining for people watching.
Half way through Fifty Shades of Grey.... eh ? not impressed. but a good read.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Have you read the Outlander series? Can take 6 mos to a year or more, but a powerhouse read. Will be on Starz as a series starting Aug. 9.

I think I've only quit on a book two or three times, once just recently. I didn't see it getting any better. I'm reluctant to do so but really feel if I'm not enjoying in any way, why bother.

i may look into that series.
summer is my reading time.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Our Barnes & Noble book store has a used book section. I bought the entire series there.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

To begin with I want to apologize how I just jump in here now and then .............I do lurk and pray for each and all through your good and bad times .

I guess I am here now to vent my emotions of what has happened in my families life ! As some of you have read on FB that my cousin Rhonda passed away suddenly ( I didn't want to post as to why on a social media site ) .Well I am Angry ,Sad, Disappointed , embarrassed and any other emotion you could possibly imagine ! I feel like I am on a wild roll-a-coaster ride ! And I know that you all are my cyber family and I need to share with people that don't have emotions involved to start a family battle !

Here is a link to what has taken place in our world and it has just begun ..............

http://www.wtsp.com/story/news/local/2014/07/22/pasco-county-murder-suicide-two-realtors-dead/13009535/

If you would Pray for all the families involved healing and getting through this and for Rhonda's soul .

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Thought and prayers going out to you and the family.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Put up 18jars of salsa, and 6 quarts of tomatoes. Need to do a lot more tomatoes.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear of the tragedy Synda! Sending lots of thoughts and prayers! ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is a lot of tomato's!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

It won't get me half way threw the winter. Need at least 15 more jars. I also Need to make tomatoe sauce.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Do you grow your own maters?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Yes I do, and my own peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, bens , squash, on ond onions.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Hugs to you and yours Synda. I know it's not much comfort, but you are not held accountable for adult family members.

Glenview, IL

(((((((((Synda))))))))))) So very sorry...

While, trying to type with shaking fingers and blurred vision. Let me take hold of you Tightening my arms around you...

It's been 31years and 26 years since similar devastation shattered my heart.
I will keep you and your in Thoughts and prayers.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

(((((Synda))))). :o(

How many mater plants do you have, Sissy? I've got 11, but the only ones giving me any ripe ones (and not many of those!) are the two Sunsugar cherry plants. Guess it just hasn't been hot enough for them. The cukes, zucchini and yellow squash are going gang busters though! Haven't had any green peppers yet either. The corn looks good, but it's just starting to tassel.

Rainy here today. I cleaned house for one of my clients this morning and now I'm taking it easy. I've been working for Joan getting ready for her sale this weekend, and I'm really ready for a rest!! I have 32 1/2 hours in after 4 days of work. One more day to go! She's paying me in plants and garden art, so I don't mind!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Sissy, you need a rest. That's to many hours, you are a better woman than I am. I'm pooped, and still have to go to church and cook for 150people. I'll fall asleep during Bible study.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm resting... 😊

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

You better be!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

So sorry to hear of your cousin passing, prayers for you and family at this terrible time. Karen is so right that we aren't accountable for other adult members of our family, but news like this does affect us no matter what the situation happens to be. Several years ago my SIL's sister had cancer and on New Year's Eve she killed herself. So heart breaking for those left behind.

Another warm day and my computer is really going crazy. I guess I may have to call my tech support. My security shows I have no threats so I always feel I'm doing something wrong.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Pegi, I know it still affects us, I just wanted her to know she doesn't need to feel embarrassed.

Is your computer a desk top or lap top? Your saying it's a warm day makes me wonder if it's over heating. Desk tops need to have open air space to be properly cooled by their fans. Laptops need to sit on a hard surface as their fans need the bottom clear. Just a thought before you call a tech.
There is other maintainance that needs to be done from time to time too. You need to clear out cookies and run defrag to clear up your disk space. Might be none of those but the first things I check before hollering for help.
Oh yeah....after doing those things shut down and re-start your computer.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Make sure the vents are clear too, give it a good dusting. I use an air can once in awhile to clean it out.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I Thank Each and Every One of You for you Hugs and Kind Encouraging Words .
Judy I am So Very Sorry that You have had to endure something like this ,and twice to boot (((((Hugs)))))) back at you !
Pegi yes it is hard for those left behind .
I can't even begin to Fathom what our Darling Sue has dealt with Mentally and Emotionally !
I myself didn't really know Rhonda as an adult, I used to babysit her and her siblings a lot when they were young. I guess what I am so angry about is her selfishness !!! I feel bad for the other members of my family that are devastated .I can't imagine how her boyfriends family feels ,I would be so angry if someone took my loved ones life .And here that person is my cousin and that embarrasses me, that a member of my family would/could be so heartless !
I have been having fibro flares all summer ,this weird cool wet weather just keeps it rolling .And STRESS is to be avoided ...........LOL Not in my life .Maybe someday I can set back and just live a very boring one !
I haven't even tended to the flower beds due to the pain .I am so happy for you all that have veggie gardens and envious at the same time !

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Guess I should get my butt in gear .Ryan has been volunteering for overtime at work and it is wearing me down.......... LOL .Especially when I only slept 2 hrs last night ,I did catch a couple more hours this afternoon . Ryan worked 8 straight 12 hr midnights last week had 2 days off and is doing it again .So I can't even tell him and Rick supper is what they can find because Ryan gets home from work ,showers and goes to bed until it's time to get up and go again .He doesn't have time to cook anything for his lunch .So I'm off to drag my lazy aching behind to grill some turkey burgers .Ryan will make himself a salad to take .

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I wouldn't want to trade places with anyone whose family member takes her own life. I'd be wondering if it's mental illness and should I too be seeking psychiatric help, and worse, look at my family with different eyes. Sorry Synda that you now had to wrestle with the thought what went wrong. BUT, I wouldn't be embarrassed. That's her choice, no one gave her the gun.
I agree, Rhonda should never subject her boyfriend's family to such grief. Now I'm wondering if the Lord will put them in the same mansion..
After all, in Christianity, all sins are forgiven, only if you commit blasphemy then He'll retract His precious gift.

(((((((Judy)))))))) She's loving you from above.

You have been working your behind off Cookie! That's good wages.. plants and garden art.
Is that the same Joan with the beautiful garden?

Sis, I'm out of tomatoes! Had the last one last night. Hoping to find more this weekend from some country road side stalls. Perhaps I might be able to get some green ones. Love them pickled.

That darn computer!! Take Karen's suggestions Pegi.
We have a little fan that blows on the laptop to help cool it off as Kel can use it for hours.
As for the desktop, it's standing clear all around and I try to clean the vents. Be surprise how much dust can get on that!

The Barnes and Nobles had moved to a satellite town, much further from here and there's no second hand department there, not even music!
I'm not subscribed to Starz, guess I can wait when the series come out on Netflix.
I had always imagined Claire as looking like Meryl Streep. I love the plot.. and the sub plots.. and the sub sub plots!! Yes Karen, I too sometimes have to take breaks!! Diana Gabaldon is too intense!

I change my mind again as to the next pattern, LK!! Lolol!! But what I had cut can still be used. I'll just pack that away for another quilt. That's me, so indecisive!
So, instead of the sewing machine.. it's the mini rake and a mini hoe. The kind that kids use. I sit on a little stool and patiently get the crab grass out of one bed. Think the grass will win.

The mosquitoes left me alone. Vicks works.

Anyone seen Barb? Hope she's okay.

No matter how wild the ride gets Sue I hope you know that we are all right there with you. Hope you can feel the love......

I'm so sorry to read about your cousin Synda. It is a hard thing to deal with and my prayers are with you as well.....

Jaye, I have a vision of you sitting on a milk stool hoeing the garden!!!!

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Wednesday is payday here ,so bills are paid for this week .Supper is made and gone .Ryan has left for work .So now my evening is FREE !!!!!

Sad to say that this isn't my first time dealing with someone committing suicide ........... Another cousin in 2009 shot himself and I have had 5 friends do it over the span of my adult life . I had a fiance murdered when I was 21 years old and a very close friend murdered 7 years ago come July 25th to which was also his birthday, he would be 45 this year .But never has any member of my family taken a gun and purposely kill an innocent person !

Rick's birthday is tomorrow ,he will be a whooping 44 years old .It's a shame he will never catch up with me .....LOL. I guess that is what I get for being a Cougar ......LOL

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Happy birthday to Rick tomorrow!

Yes, Jaye, same Joan! I've got my eye on a really neat thing. It's a really tall obelisk. Not sure how much she's asking for those. I might get a nerd little conifer for my garden as well if I can find one that I can afford and I fall in love with.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

hugs Synda♥♥♥ and Happy Birthday to both you and Rick.♥♥♥

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank You Cookie ~

Christina I have to politely disagree with you ! The Northeast is a BEAUTIFUL place to live and have Very Sweet people ! And suicide and murder happens all over the world !!!! My cousin lived and was very successful ,living in Florida . And 3 of my friends lived in California and were all brothers .The other 2 friends were from here and brother and sister ,but there was also 3 other members of that family that killed themselves .And it isn't always at the fault of another persons actions or words .I am sorry you have such a negative outlook of us northern people .Please don't stereo type us all ..........

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Thank You Thunder ~

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sorry Christina but suicidal thoughts are signs of a bad depression!!! That my dear lady IS a mental illness. Someone, somewhere is failing to get the proper treatment or just to embarrassed to tell anyone they are depressed. Committing suicide is not normal and certainly not because of where a person lives. Depression is hereditary and unless treated has far reaching results for everyone.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

I take Great insult to being called "ignorant" or "unknowledgeable" .
I didn't come and post on this thread to Torture YOU !!!! I have been here off and on for many years and YOU my Sweet Woman are not making a Great First Impression !
I am sorry that YOU out of 318,892,103 in the US have such a low opinion of others just from Your experience !
May the Lord Soften Your Heart ..................
