No, but I lost the five pounds I gained cooking for my daughter and grandson, and another two. For some reason It is getting harder to lose weight.
Made the rebel zucchini bread Saturday. He really liked it. He never had it before.
Room 290 at the Sweet Interruptions Hotel..
I'll let you know when I make them. You can fly up and have some.
Oh, you're always teasing us with ripe tomatoes and homemade salsa...I want some!!
Sounds like maybe Christina got disgusted with us for some reason. Didn't seem to like what Sue said about Tim giving her money, but if your ex husband handed over dollars, I don't know how else you could have said it!!
I, too, will miss her beautiful pictures.
Wish my ex would hand some over. I would take it.
Sissy, will send you some. Do you wan't strawberry jam too?
This message was edited Jul 21, 2014 7:32 AM
Duh! Of course I want jam!! You're so good to your big Sissy!
You like I make the biscuits for the jam too? LOL
Oh my gosh! You're making my stomach growl!! Love it!!
Made the neighbor a blck forest cake for his birthday Thursday. He said it was very good, and tasted like more.
Ooh with cherries and everything??
Of course with cherries, silly. Will bring you one when I come to see you.
Oh goody!!
Since when do we have to say something miserable to be on this thread.
Sorry, but it just hit me what Christina said about not having something miserable to say.
I thought this thread was to say and share our daily lives and what's on our minds.
Think I will go eat worms while pondering this situation. Someone please let me know if I'm wrong.
Kathy, all the food sounds good!
Not much on my agenda for today, other than mailing out bills, and laundry.
going to dr. and grocery shopping.
Michael will bee working in the area for at least 6 months, so I need to keep food in the house
A couple days of slim pickens..SS comes on Wed. Seem to always run out of money before we rub out of month.
Sorry Christina, sounds like you are trying to work through some unhappy memories. Hope you'll rejoin us soon. Enjoy your photos, you really have a talent for them.
I'm awake!!! One sister (bless her heart) decide to entertain me over the phone this morning, regaling stories of her and the kids' trip to Indonesia. Thank God she doesn't think FB is enough!! I love listening to her joy and excitement, sure do miss her. Funny we all have the same DNA but not one sister sounds like our mother. She certainly doesn't sound nasal like me! Anyway, I had to cut her short after an hour, and called her back, so we'd split the phone cost! In that way, FB is better.. free. :D
Christina, take your time. Sometimes real life can be overwhelming when bitter memories start flooding you. So sorry you go through such cruelty from the "unmentionable". He doesn't deserve your thoughts, and I hope you'd join us soon.
I will miss ANYTHING you have to say. This is a totally free speech thread and even if you ran out of pictures, we want you back.
Sue, that's good that Tim chose to be kind to you. My ex makes great friends after the D. He even gets along well with Kel, sends him Christmas presents, and tried to send me things I'd miss from Louisiana like cracklins!
Sis.. what is squill jambalaya? I'll take some plain rice with seafood gumbo!! Not a tater salad gal.
Cookie, I love black forest cake with chocolate shavings and yes, extra cherries! We might have to fight over the cake, after extra insulin of course!
Marion, don't eat any wooly worms, fish with them gal!!!
Karen, it is always slim pickins here! Lol!! At least the cats aren't starving and I haven't change their cans to the cheaper ones. They eat better than me!
There's too much moisture outside from all that rain, and the mosquitoes are out with a vengeance. Another day of staying indoors, and hopefully I will get the sewing machine going.
Look LK, Karen, Marion, Thunder...Barb,.. Sue....

Just wanna say Hi.
Wow you all are/have been busy!
Oh my gosh, me too.
Ive been sick for almost 3 weeks now...Think Im finally at the tale end of it, I hope, cause this was just nasty.
Any Sistah, so smiing, while in between all the crud, took the down time to finally read The searies...

Hey Christina, Ive enjoyed your pics. Wow, that is one big kitty, and so pretty!
Just want to throw in here to I also Call Joyce, Cookie, Sunshine, since the day I met her!
OMG...Thunder!!! How exciting, so glad you Sailor Boy is coming home...MY certainly understand time standing still while you wait for the day.
Well hands on the hips, I am about to give up on the gardening thing!! Yep, can you believe i am calling it that, lol not really i guess, i am just FED up with fighting over food, with the animals!! Sigh, the deear ate just about everything!! Including my Carols Love Roses!! Now i'll never get to see what color it was going to bloom! That and that #@##%^@ Evil Cat that lurks, now caught it doing its duty at my garden door,! I'm just fighting this loosing battle! Squirel litterally hanging around to eat all the suet...OMG>>> Not to mention the Poison ivy i've got all over the freaking place!! Yes I am breaking down and buy the POISON to kill the ...it! What a mess i am still digging the front jungle, yesterday I was going really good until i broke into an Ant hill, YIKES ran for my life, lol that was the end working that section.
ROFLOL, Well nothing like coming for a visit ranting and raving, Bet ya'll just missed me.
I know I have missed all of you too...
Hmmm...maybe i should get lost in another book?!
Wink and big armwraps Sistahs.
Hey Judy! Glad to hear your on the end! 3 weeks is a long time to be sick! Sorry to hear about the deer and animals in your garden! Hang those bars of soap around like I told you too! Get a dog, that will keep the cats away! Don't know what to do for ants. When you figure it out let me know! :)
Gettin' up late this morning....slept really good and hard last night.
Cracklins...a gal right after me own heart!! Put them in cornbread, a bowl of field peas, some onion....just leave me be so I can enjoy them!!! I did cook some field peas last night but it is one of the things Kim has to eat in limited quantities.
I will take the strawberry jam...I will save you the trouble of making me some biscuits Kathy..if I ever get an oven then I can do that. Wait! Correction: if the oven is ever installed, I can make biscuits. Been sitting in the floor for 2 months now. I do believe in pushing the envelope with kitchen design!! :-)
Did someone mention cherries? Kim has put me on restrictions with cherries....I eat wait to many..love those things.
Sue, after all you have gone through with Tim, it is nice to read he is helping with some funds for the twins school supplies. I can't believe it is that time of year already. Guess I will need to plan my shopping day with my GDs. It is a tradition that we shop for supplies and have a lunch date.
Well still drizzly....no complaints as for once the plants are looking so much better.
Christina, I too will miss your pictures but as Jaye stated this is where we all come together to share what is on our minds; support those who are having stress that is overwhelming in their lives; share recipes;tease each other and so on and so forth. It is an online version of your very best friend who lives next door...it is therapeutic for what is going on in our lives. Oh yes, it also a place to share our joys, hope, aspirations and pride of our families and/or talents. I, for one, could not have made it through the past 4+ years with out the support of these ladies.
I hope I haven't offended anyone by getting on my soapbox. Luvs you gals muchas.

Many ants don't like coffee grounds!
I have had a few older folks (native Floridians) tell me to put a line of grounds all around the house. Many critters will NOT cross the line.
I have never had any issues with critters coming in the house. So haven't tried it.
Spending the day gathering the dangerous sewing supplies from multiple places in the house. Putting it all in the sewing room. Scissors. Needles. Pins... not good for curious 1 year olds. Hoping to find sewing time later. ;)
sis jaye, I meant squirrel jambalya, or rabit. sorry, I don't have any guinnea
Sorry to hear your not going to join us anymore Christina. Sounds to me as if you need a break from life? . Did our lives cause you some distress ? . No one here has Masters or Boss's. We have humans , loved and some not so loved. We accept them for who they are.
I found your comment HURTFUL and down right INSULTING ! . I will not LOOSE any sleep while your choose not to join us. :)
nor will i apologize for my words.
Hey there sistah Judy! You're missed for sure and I'm sorry it took you so long to recover. Now the gardens don't have to give you that much distress!! Yes please, immerse yourself in another book. I'm about to order a new one. People of the Morning Star I believe? My bookstore doesn't carry it, moreover I swore off riding with Kel that far! Lol!
Anyway, try what Thunder says about the black pepper. That's an easy solution.
Send that drat squirrel to sis Kathy. She knows what to do with it!
Thanks but no thanks on that squirrel gumbo Sis Kathy. I had tried that once, fricasseed and can't acquire the taste. Now I'll take wild ducks and of course guineas. Be happy with seafood gumbo with lots of green onions!
Thunder, your home too? Dangerous house weapons lying around on this floor too. Once I pulled out a needle off the sole of my Crocs. Had to use a pair of pliers to remove it. One of the cats decide to lay out some jelly rolls. Now how is that dangerous you might ask. That infuriate me to the nth degree since I had to pick up 42 strips that I didn't give them extra food. Yes, dangerous to them!!!
Soon the day will be here when your boy will be hugging your neck, and the girls cry out maw maw!!
Marion, said it right, Christina. We are all BFFs here, just online. AND like BFFs we accept each other, quirks. perfections and all. We also tend to disappear now and then, and when we return, we pick up as though we have never left. That's BFFs right?
If you're lurking..
You'd be surprise at the traumas some have gone through, here. One not so pleasant. Our Sue here had lost her oldest daughter to a violent crime. Her happiness means a lot to us now, and it took all she had to realise that her ex isn't necessary for her.
We are just happy that Tim chose to be kind to her now. Exs can be bitches too!!
Rain, rain, rain... I am not sick and tired of this.. yet. Had carnitas cooked last night and that's what we had today
Tonight is more pork. Bacon, tomato and mayo sandwich. No lettuce, but fresh spinach.
I am so enjoying vine riped tomatoes!
Ooooh hovering over my tomatoes on a daily basis. So want that first "mater sammich" of the season.
Took Amelia to town today to scout out birthday presents, before we left she had to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to cousin Sammi. Then she sang it again in a deep gravelly voice. She is such a hoot. Once she hears a song twice, she starts singing it, I'm really racking my brain to remember them for her. She just learned "Oh Dear What Can the Matter Be?" a couple days ago.
why am i craving chicken and rice with soy sauce ?? seems i can't get enough.
going to be hot tomorrow. may take the kids to the local swim park.
what does squirrel taste like ? ... nuts ? HEhehehe
i love any jumbalaya . our fair has a vendor that has louisiana cuisine. Nothing compared to what Jaye can cook up but for us its ok. but i only find it during fair.
Hahaha, omg I so cant wait to tell someone that!
Teach her "Mamas don't let your sons grow up to be cowboys"!!! I can bet, she'll make strangers' smile with that, Karen!
Kel's not into fresh tomatoes. I can easily eat one like an apple. I've even sliced them up and squirt Kraft's Mayo over them!!
Last night, it was tuna and tomatoes for snack..while cooking the carnitas.
If I have enough, I love to make fresh tomato soup with fresh basil and oregano of course.
Sue, I do chicken rice by adding slivers of ginger in my chicken stock. that's the Chinese Hainanese way. Boil a whole chicken with ginger, garlic and star anise added. When chicken is cooked, shred, reserve broth to cook the rice in. Add salt to the stock of course.
Add fresh chillies to your soy sauce dip, or better yet, get you a jar of sambal oelek from Jungle Jim or Chinese store, and add some soy sauce, maybe squeeze some lime for acidity.
Kel prefers the children's chicken rice.. that is... nothing hot. Just fried chicken with some rice on the side!! Lol!!
Sistah Judy, once I read the book, I'll mail it to you. Of course, I got to order that first.
This message was edited Jul 21, 2014 7:30 PM
I'll start her on it Jaye, she picks them up fast.
Oh I guess I'll have to eat the children's style with Kel. Simply cannot tolerate spicy at all.
Well another year down for keeping check on the nevus in my eye. Same as it was when discovered 11 years ago. Doctor doubts seriously it will change but to be on safe side...it gets checked.
Tried a new pasta place tonight. Busa di deppo......no, not what you gals are thinking! We shared a Caprese salad with avocado and then had pasta primavera....oh my to die for!!!!!!!!
Now it is time to kick back and read some more in The Outlander series.
Waving to Judy..good to see you gal.
Been there once Marion, kind of a fun place. As long as everyone wants the same thing.
Only read these Marion.. Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber and Voyager. Quit reading romance novels when I moved here, could be, I was more into theology. And then the People series drew me away too. Could pick up the other books.. as I do like Gabaldon's writing style.
Wish there's a used book store nearby.
Good luck on that eye exam.
Karen, you won't believe what I just snacked on!! Yep, tomato wedges, spinach and mayo dressing! Kel doesn't want any sandwich, so I am extremely happy to eat his share of tomato!
No Bussa De Deppo around here. Does it serve squid?
Off to bed early tonight. May you all have some great rest.
Pegi.. hope this week will be easy on you.
I've read Diana Gabaldon's entire series, some twice. T'm deeply engrossed in the newest book in the series. They will be on Starz starting next month. I signed up just so I can see it. My family heritage is Scots so was very interesting to me.
OK you have me drooling Jaye. I love tomatoes, & cukes sliced, swimming in Mayo & sour cream mixed half & half.
.
Karen, we signed up for Starz also just so we could watch the series. Kim had been after me for years to read the books...glad she keep nagging at me.
Love tomato and cuke sandwiches.....just plain tomato or cuke will do and always mayo!!!!
Jaye, the eye check up was today and everything is just fine. Just one of those precautions just to be sure.
Off to bed ladies...I am tired for some reason tonight.
I read the first one "Outlander", then somehow I read the third & fourth. The I found the second so went to second hand book dept at Barnes & Noble & bought the entire series and started over reading them in order. I'm almost tempted to do it again because it took so long for this last one to come out. There are references to previous books but I can't remember what I read where.
I can't remember the author but I also enjoyed the series that started with "The Other Boleyn Daughter" There were Scots ancestors of mine mentioned several times in them.
running to the store to get garlic for my salsa.
good morning, and BBL
Karen, that is just to funny about the books you mentioned. I have just started the Outlanders series ...they go to bed with me every night! :-) Kim and I also like the other books you mentioned. They are written by Phillipa Gregory. Going to Scotland is definitely on my bucket list.
Kim has to go to Bainbridge today to assist with computerizing some newly imposed test to be used by the school. Ga. Dept. of Ed has said they will use this new test and they are having trouble keying the Spanish test......so Kim has to go to work. I am going with her with the promise of going to a vey favorite place for lunch. :-)
Oh right Marion, I just couldn't bring up her name. Our family name from Scotland is Bucklew. In Scotland the name was Scott and the name was actually a title bestowed, Buccleuch. Neat story behind it. There is still a sitting Earl of Buccleuch with three lovely estates. I have been invited to reunions but so far I'd be required to pay my own way and lodging, he hasn't invited me to be his guest.
Love to go though.
