Glenview, IL

WEEDS! LOL BETTY, still got thank em, nothing like taking out anger on them.
My neighbor asked why I didnt spray them dead...I said its the best therapy ever!
The day of the argument it took every ounce of energy to go to the yard instead of jumping to something I will regret later....lol been there, done that and still feel bad about it. Oh well its over...

So here is whats been keeping me busy.

...not sure if pics took?

So The jungle behind that beautiful little Japanese maple...It all gone.
That guy, He is my neighbors landscaper...One day he came asked my to bum a smoke.
I was digging the corner of that mess. Was glad to take a break, chatted with him for a couple of mins.
asked if he could do anything in exchange for the smoke...Had him move the over weights wheel barrel, and help me move the very heavy bench to the side.

Next Day H'e knocks at my door. Julia answered for which he was confused, lol..When i cam he sAID OH THERE SHE IS LIKE i WAS HIS LONG LOST FRIEND! (oops)...LOL, asked if needed another cigerette. He said no but was wondering if i had any work he could do for 20 bucks, I said ill get you a shovel! So there he went to work at digging out that mess...He was stranded, car probs, etc. So what the heck. He felt he could get it done in half hour!! I'm thinking what kind of landscaper are you, no way in a hlf hour...3 1/2 hours later it was all dug out and i am still trying to clean...As for him, We gave him 50 bucks, a pack a smokes and a beer, felt it was fair...Gosh, i remember putting that garden in...it was a masterpiece, I loved it...and when it is finished i'll dance around showing pictures! If i don't give in to the goshdern animals first!!

Well then I have been sick forthe last almost 3 weeks! took some of that time to read my Series of 3. Wow, glad i did.
During which time, my MIL was in the hospital again...Could get off the floor, Thank God Steve was on his way past there...stopped took her to doc and they admitted her. She had every test, nothing bad...Turns out, She has been taking and not taking meds correctly!! Sure explains quite alot of things!

Meantime, Got not good news about my nephew. Been on such a roller coaster of emotions, but i'm hanging in and trying to behave, lol I know hard to believe, my being good, I mean.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear of your MIL not doing well. If you have meds to take it is important to take them the same time every day, not when you feel like it!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

So good to "see" you Judy. Sure hope that you are well now. 3 weeks is a long time to be sick, especially in the summer months.
Love the photos!! Can't believe how grown up Jake looks.
Been quiet here but I'm expecting my nephew to come in next week from Indiana. It will be good to see him.
Norm's latest PET scan came out clean and then he turned around and got a bad case of food poisoning. He was so sick and shaking all over. He is good now thank heaven.

~~~waving hello to all~~~~
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Glad to hear Norm is better. Food poisoning is the pits!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
I had a wonderful lunch today. I drove to Keene NH (about 1.5 hours away) and had lunch with Mittsy's friend Judy. She had a place in Florida and is one of Mittsy's dear friends. Judy's daughter lives here in NH and Judy came up to visit. It was great to see her again. Judy told me that they sewed 600 of those placemats and also made 180 pillowcases as well as all the isolette blankets they make. What a terrific group of women.
Lyndonville, NY
Judy, so good to see you on here!!! Thank you for the much needed hugs.
Betty, you had a box delivered here....from MI. You want me to open and take pics for you??
Victoria Harbour, ON
Debbie, when you have time..it's something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue swap..always fun seeing what the something borrowed is. Lol. Again Debbie, thanks for letting me have pkgs sent to me at your house..
Barb, sorry to hear Norm got food poisoning, wasn't it when his nephew was visiting? Mittsy and her friends certainly are a great bunch..wonderful what they accomplish..glad you enjoyed yourself today..
Ann has been making isolette covers as well, she is enjoying giving back to the premmie ward.
She was telling me Melissa had a 1st birthday party for Addy and Alex and they both got colds and were sick afterwards..just goes to show they are still very prone to anything going around.
Judy, you sure must have had a bug, not like you to be down for so long..smilling here at your deal with the gardener, wish I had one here..grounds look spiffy
Speaking of grounds, put it off long enough, time I get the mower going
It's me and the bugs
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
Judy. Judy... you stay away much too long girl!! Can't believe you got rid of all that in the front. Holy crap !
Hammocks look cozy.
Nice to see you too Deb. :)
I think I have managed to get all dangerous sewing supplies corralled into sewing room again. Amazing how it wanders into all other rooms.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Think they have legs Thunder, now look out, sewing machines will be working over time!
Finally got enough energy to cut grass, started the rider, put the blade on and bang there went the main pulley belt. Called Greg, left message, decided to go into midland and see if Canadian tire Gotham one, was backing up and there was Greg on the Spider
We gabbed, about mom, I got told to settle myself or I'd be having a stroke..
Decided I would not run into midland, instead I'd use the push mower, whT a work out, all done, weeding needs done, perhaps tomorrow night. Tomorrow I will go in search of a new belt, Greg said he could put it on for me.
Doesn't matter, he has 2 weeks to fix as I won't be here to get the grass done
Out to pull a few tall flowers that are taking over, bath then bedtime..yippee. When I wake up only 3 more sleeps. Lol
im watching reruns of Murphy Brown LOL to funny stuff
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
I tend to work on different projects in different places. Hand work in living room so there was needles, scissors. Threads... in there.
Scissors, and pincushion full of pins and needles on the desk in the dining room. No clue on that one. I do sometimes cut big pieces out on that table, but that doesn't need pins and sewing needles? ?
Quilt rack in the hallway. With a quilt on it. Sewing needles there (got to get some stitching done on that one been there way too long)
Yup stuff was every where.
Sewing machine gonna get a workout tomorrow. Caterpillar blocks to put together. Back to piece. And hopefully some quilting started. After I get some place mats made for a birthday present for a friend at work. Oh yeah, and stuffed peacock to stitch together for miss Malena.
Sweet dreams Y'All
Well I thought I was losing it just a few minutes ago ....... I finally turned out the lights and when I laid down and looked up at the ceiling there was a tiny flash bouncing around. Somehow a firefly got into the house. I know I am sleep deprived but........
Judy I chuckled about Jake's adventures. Little does he know that you were thinking if he did half the things you did at that age you would have to lock him in a closet until he was 21. I always swore that's what I would do if I ever had kids.
M I had never heard of those spruce beetles until you mentioned them and then I was watching a show on TV. Man they can get to quite a size .... I had no idea.Poor little Duke (all 75 lb of him) got 2 deer fly bites late this afternoon. Popped him a Benadryl and that helped with the swelling.
Barb I am glad Norm is getting over his food poisoning. Three cheers for his pet scan.
Betty I am so glad you are going away for a couple of weeks. Gets you out of the mix ...... let Sharon do everything as M suggested.
LOL Thunder... I am so glad you were able to round up all those sewing supplies. I pictured you talking to them as you came upon them telling them to get back where they belonged.
I just can't seem to fall asleep so think I ill move to the recliner. Maybe listening to Jonny Lang isn't the best sleep enhancing music I could chose. Thank you, thank you Jean for recommending him.
Dianne
Victoria Harbour, ON
You sleeping Dianne?
Haven't seen a firefly in years..what fun we had as kids going out trying to capture one.
I also never heard of spruce beetles..will have to look up what they look like. I used to give Sailor benedryl as well, hope duke is up to his old self today.
Thunder that is one heck of a lot of sewing going on..when does Malene visit next.
Sue when do the kids go back to school?
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Attaching a pic of a Spruce Beetle .. makes me shiver to look at it, and, I's prefer a wasp or Bee over one of them chasing me !!!
There are Fireflies here, but, I'm never up long enough to see them do their thing LOL ..
Dianne I hope you slept some, and, that Duke is less swollen.
Big TStorm here at 4am, so, had 2 dogs planted on my head ... Lilly stays under the bed.
Hope the belt fits your machine Betty .. one thing I have learned, BELTS and PULLEYS etc are all so different from one another ..
Not sure what's up today .. Lorna is trying to decide whether or not to go to work as it's supposed to thunderstorm again.
I might go into Shoppers, have a couple of coupons to use up ..
Whatever yer all doin .. have fun, and, stay safe ..
Glenview, IL
Good morning!
Household already humming this A.M.
Lets see now, yesterday i worked inside due to weather, very high humidity levels! Today too. So decided I can play.a little in between husehold stuff...I got to admit, we have been having a fabulous summer, weather wise. I sure hope Saturday willbe a beautiful day for Betty.
I m already pacing on the wait, lol.
Oh the bird woke up...the very first footstep she hears, shes gotta let the whole house know she is awake...this bird is tierring., heaven to betsy she is spoiled rotten!! Still takes a couple naps in the day. I have to say she is definatley a shoulder bird. One really nice thing is she always goes home to poop, and with me, I got her trained to eat at her cage even if its just a snack. AND my favorite is she now says thank you, when I give her a snack or morning toast!! The worst is she nips and boy does that hurt! I have literal beak hole in my fimgers!
Big smiles Barbara! So glad Norms test come out clean...yikes sure hope that food poisoning go through quickly.
Awe sounds like you had a lovely luncheon with Judy!
Thunder, glad you got all the Sewing weapons picked up! Nope wouldnt little ones fiinding those. Lol, amaizing how things tend to find in all the places they are not suppose to be in!
Oh yes, Susan, wow iy was so nice to see your post(s) Comgratulaions on Being a Grandma!!
Debbie, sorry to have missed your birthday...Im glad it was very nice! Beautiful pictutes...and speaking of, wow that was a spectacular picture of the moon!
Glenview, IL
I LOVE THAT it made it in the news...personally you should apply to be their photographer!
Sorry, tabby only allows typing so much so have to make little posts...
M, so glad to see yor fleeing to ac, lol me too. Thats saying alot cause I hate A.C.
I enjoyed seeing Lornas work....the areas will be so pretty when she gets the all cleaned up.
Waivin Hi Bev, Shirley!! I hope you are well. Bev how are your gardens coming along?
And did I read right Shirly wants to move back to Nebrask? Wow. Or is that town in Wi?
As far as this cold, yikes it went through this house like a tornado...
BETTY, you asked about the house rentals...ep it was booked for all of july and now 2 for August! ONE more and we can pay the taxes, woohoo. As far asthe cleaning, our girl has been able to keep up. We have double sets of everything, so for the occassional back to back just just makes the switch...and does the laundry on the first full off day.
Ok gotta go make dhs lunch...
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone!
Sounds like everyone is off and running errands!
Judy our parrot is the same way sometimes. He hears someone talking or walking, and he starts squawking to be uncovered!
Betty, the weather forecast is 99 all next week, so make sure you bring light clothing! It's going to be warm.
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
Do you take your nippy bird back to her cage when she bites? She should learn that the penalty for biting is no more shoulder time for an hour or so. Trust me if you are persistent, she will get the point.
Victoria Harbour, ON
I'm all packed, thankfully those easy wear outfits fit the bill for any kind of weather..must go back and look at the weather channel and see what the other areas are calling for..yesterday chicago had 90% rain listed for Saturday..hmmmm remember Judy when Liz,you,Ann,Steve and Kenny were there last year, or was it the year before, anyway it rained early morning and was raining when we got on the boat then the sunshine came out for us..
Judy sure makes life easier doesn't it when the cottage has rentals for most of the summer..
forgot to ask, where is Steve working these days, still downtown Chicago? Am sure if he does he isn't too impressed about going on a Saturday but knowing Steve, he's a good sport and won't say no.
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Busy room today ^_^
Judy, love hearing about Petrie .. I betcha he's just a luv ..
I had a Budgie Bird when I was a little gurl, green and yellow, yappy lil guy when he saw other birds outside .. otherwise, I can just remember that white thing in the cage ?Cuddy Bone?
Lorna stayed home, so, we went into the city, took Lilly with us for some special 'Girl time', her nose has been right bent since Zoey arrived .. she LOVED it .. went to a pet store and got some treats for the crew, took her to Timmies, of course, .. Lorna is out with DH right now buying a new trimmer .. the other one is worn out ...
Sooooooooo windy here .. temps have cooled from the 100s+ to the 60s ,, incredible ..
Best get busy doing something, sweeping the floor looks to be a GREAT idea ..
Hope Dianne is feeling less dizzy, that Debbies heart is mending, the Mary has so MANY patrons the shop is overflowing .. and, that everyone has some JOY in their lives right now, even if it's a beautiful flower to gaze at ..
Morning all,
Going to be a rain day, at least it looks as though it will!
Greg dropped in last night, put the belt on the riding lawnmower, just might get the chance to go over the grass I cut Monday just to give it a trim.
Kyle will drop in and see what list I have for him while I am gone..
Talked to mom last night, I was short with my conversation but did call..she said likely she might be there for but a week. Ahhha, now no room at the residence as I cancelled it Monday..if she is still interested in gong there Sharon will have to call and make arrangement OR have her at her house to watch over her.
Did my part, wasn't good enough at the time, as you can say I'm upset by this
Greg gave me the what for last night once again saying I'd be having a stroke..just let it be so that being said I'll be travelling and won't take worries with me
2 more sleeps
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Greg gave you wise advice Betty, it'll be difficult to do, but, do it you can ..
Supposed to be in the mid 70s today, have the DinL Grammas Memorial to get to .. then home to do some dead heading ..
Hope everyone is happy and safe
~M~
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
Mornin' everyone. Looks like we are going to be in the 90s today but after a few days of cooler temps, I shall not complain.
Went to Bainbridge with Kim yesterday.... she needed to help program the test mandated by the Ga. Dept. of Ed into the computer so it will be easier to scan for grading. Monday her summer will end and it will be back to work. Not very happy as first reports says her classes are maxed out and several levels per class...not good. Shall wait and see what can be sorted out.
Going to continue sorting things out in my downsizing project.
have a wonderful day everyone.
Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)
Betty , Have fun on your trip. Sorry I won't get to see you. Me and some friends are going to Branson. Don't know how long we will be gone. LOVE BEV
First fun trip ever.
Bev, you have fun on your trip as well! You deserve it!
Lyndonville, NY
Bev, how exciting! Soooo happy for you to get to do that!!
Looks like the sky is going to open up any minute here....is dark like 9:00 p.m.
I was going to go to Rochester to get the contacts exchanged, but am not going to
drive in a deluge of rain with new "eyes" in.
On Monday night, I went down to the lake..my new peaceful healing spot to watch the sunset.
Look at these colors!!! Never saw such at the lake before...but I sure enjoyed it.
Waved over to Dianne & Betty.....stood on my toes and up to ~M~ way up there!!!
Glenview, IL
Good Morning.
OH MY GOSH, already school time!! LOL, saw a commercial for back to school for the "Store" yikes and yow, I remember how crazy that was, so glad I'm not there, however i might just go shopping to catch some deals on office supplies. Speaking of the job, did I tell you, the manager, whom I actually really liked a lot,
Wow, Apparently, came in one day, handed in his keys and walked away. It is my hope he actually gave secret notice, but i hear that wasn't the case. I am telling that particular store is just Taboo. They replaced him with the manager who Hired me at the other store, poor guy looked ragged...LOL, he asked what i was doing now and told him after that job, I am retired!! Oh and interesting, The women who took my spot, getting ready to walk too.
Anyway, Marion, I sure hope Kims schedule/classes gets worked out. Did they get that testing figured out?
Speaking of school, Waiving Hiya Sue!! Well, i was glad to see Tim actually helped you out with the twins school supplies, i hope he pays all their school needs. It's a nice surprise for you. So how goes your mini zoo over there? Say Hi to Tom, so very glad for you things are going GOOD...Oh yeah, you mentioned The Sistah Gathering at your house..Wooohhoooo, sure cant wait! I am and have been planning to be there and so your excitement begins...Do you have a date in mind?
Well, I was called in for a second interview with that job I was hired but not. That was over a week ago, thought it went great, but I haven't heard either way...I've weighed all the option, benefits etc, and it is only ok, so I've decided not to pursue and chase it. It was really fabulous as far as time/days and commute.
In there defense, i know they have been extremely busy and maybe the other interviewee had better computer skills, or they are waiting to hear about my background check...lol who knows, im just blabbing away. Ohh yeah, probably didn't help that i was sick too.
OH Dianne!! You had a good chuckle over Jakes brattiness, hehehe you are so right, If that boy only knew some of my mischiff at his age, I think he would be surprised at his crazy ma! Any while you were chuckling i was laughing pretty good too about your smelling the boys mouth for toothpast...haha, what we pet owners don't do for our brats!
Linda Kay and how is Paco? Oh and how funny is this, i got this bird to call s' b r e e n a!! first time she did, she said Hey S'breena come here....hahaha, I love it. Got to admit, she is really got a nice vocabulary, and so far no potty beak!
How sweet M, a girls day out, so glad Lily had that, special one on one, sure hoped it helped with Zoey relationship. now she know you still love her...Did lorna find a new trimmer?
Yep, so glad the weather has cooled down, woopie, turned of that AC and flung all the windows open!
My plan for today is work out front, this will keep me occupied and time will hopefully go fast, oh gosh 2 more days.
Barbara, you know forgot to mention how exciting that Norms nephew coming for a visit! Sure wish i could roll my self up and stow away in his bag! I sure hope you have a fabulous visit. Is Norm feeling better today?
How are you doing Debbie? Still sending you tight armwraps.
Will tell you all, my neighbor Dog is also gone. Cadin's (tri-color collie) cancer came back with a vengense. They too had to make that decision. While Marge was telling me, I was still very saddened for them...A very well behaved dog. They had a memorial and burial in their yard. Oh gosh I feel really bad for the dad, I am actually quite worried about him and told Marge. I have never seen him so sad. However i do know how hurtful it is. I still till this day, miss my Skittles, even still shed a tear with memories of her.
And here is P, trying her hardest to earn a spot in my heart. Well, it didn't take that long, lol. Yep, We do send her home when she bites, She is learning our different tones, When i am angry I tell her why she is being sent inside locked up. Usually for biting or chewing my clothes. hopefully this sinks in soon, cause so far she remains clueless, I try very hard to be patient, she is after all only 14 months old, still a baby.
Her flying skills are getting better, she now knows the way to our bedroom on the other side of the house.
Once she found her way to me in the basement!! I think it scared her to death, cause she never follows me down there again, which is good because we don't want her venturing down there...
M, yep a cuddy bone for parakeets...Awe my first bird was a parakeet. Ahh, my Sunshine, she had a blue body and yellow head. She was an absolute love, also very smart and talkative...Loved kool aid and wine!
lol and the only bad words she knew was son of...and oh shhh...lol!
OH my Gosh, Karen, That is just too adorable your little GD daughter sings! i have enjoyed reading about that...My Julia was like that. I sure hope your little one continues to delight you with music and song, and Happy birthday to her!
Speaking of birthdays, Happy Birthday to our little miracles! My gosh already a year, bummer they got sick from their party...Anne, Anne...Continued prayers and giant smiles while they grow stronger and healthier! OMG, Betty have they started walking yet? Gentle Armwraps and birthday kisses for Addie and Andy!
Well Ive blabbed on and on here...better get out there and work on that front...Lost a lot of time, being sick and either raining or humidity too high! Today is to be absolutely perfect in the mid 70's. Couldn't ask for a better day.
oh rally i better get quiet and get to work!
Have a great day everyone.
Glenview, IL
Bev!! So smiling and dancing in delight for you!!
You and friends have a marvelous time...You deserve this trip big time.
oh, such a beautiful bloom.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Betty, I agree, hard to believe those little ones are a year old already! Happy Birthday to both of them!
Hey Judy, sounds like you have a list of things to do! Don't work too hard!
87 right now with 65% humidity! I just came in from washing the mustang, and I am dripping wet. Maybe time for another shower?
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
Thanks she's have a great birthday so far, just had her first bath. One of the things her mom and I found for her was a board with magnetic letters and numbers with chalk board on one side and a dry erase board on the other. Well guess what? the dry erase marker is NOT water soluable. My fault, the marker at first glance looks like a Crayola washable marker. Working on her jammies now. It did come off her in her bath. Now it said on the wrapping it was age appropriate for her. I might be taking myself downtown to that toy store in a bit.
Her birthday presents consisted of toys she showed interest in, so far she is enjoying them.
I had to rein in her mother though as she wanted to buy toys she liked even after Amelia said I don't want it.. Um yeah she still likes toys, unfortunately Amelia doesn't like the same toys and won't be persuaded.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Oh Bev, when will you be in Branson..how far is Branson from your home.? Sure hope you enjoy your trip, have lots of fun with the girls..you deserve to be out enjoying yourself.
"M" we're there many at the celebration of life?
Marion, you sure are on a mission, between you and Barb little will be left of their craft supplies. Marion, how come Georgia when Kim works n Florida? Must be frustrating when they change teaching program. When does she start teachng?is it september?
Debbie those photo's are gorgeous..glad you are getting out and enjoying some alone time.did you end up going to Rochester? Had some severe rumbling and wind came up but no rain.
Sue need to have a date as well, wondering what month..hooe the weekend is part of the celebration so I can make it.
Smilling here Karen, Lordy why would they sell such things, water soluble is a must for kids...bet she enjoyed herself though.
Judy, I think you should be a lady of leisure...help Steve out where you can and enjoy being home. If a job is meant to be it will come, look at our Susan, she has a job made in heaven, working for the Lord.
Big sigh, guess I have to call mom
Did I tell you 750 King Residence called me today re the suite for mom and my canceling it, wondered if I reconsidered? Gave her Sharon's number
Not sure what the outcome is.
Know it's early but I'm tired tonight, not doing much but I'm tired, maybe tired of doing nothing!
Hey Judy !!! I have not thought about dates yet. Maybe late spring ? June ?
We have many little boutiques and other fun stores in town. A few nice restaurants. Ok only 1 nice restaurant.
Karen that age is so wonderful and cute.
Betty sending you love girl. Yes good advice ... leave it behind. Easier said than done. You got this girl.
LK humidity is the pits
Karen those were some nasty storms ! we got one or two around 5 am.
Debbie pretty pics. those are wonderful pics
Marion hope Kim gets the classes worked out. Good news on the heat coming down for you.
Bev sounds like a fun trip. have a great time
Memorial service was well attended, about 150 people .. lots of catching up .. Gordon's Brother is married into a religious family, and, as luck would have it, his wife's sister's husband was the Minister today .. so .. after the small service he came and sat with us, always nice to touch base with the OUTLAWS LoL..
Super fella ..
Can't keep up with all you guys .. all I ever hope for is that you are happy and safe ..
This lil Canadian has to go to the bathrrom, drank WAY too much tea today ..
I know, thanks for sharing ^_^
~M~
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Love the colors in the pictures Debbie.
I am the same way with tea. Also beer. Have one glass and I have to go potty 3 times.
mulege, Mexico
Hi Everyone,
i will probably leave on Sunday for Ca. I have an appointment for a follow-up mamogram on Tuesday morning. My doctor really prefers that I go to Kaiser whenever possible and my pscription for pain killers is messed up.
It will give me a break from our heat and humidity and Tony can get the a/c's professionally cleaned and we can both have bit of a break.
If there is a problem with my breasst Ii'll be at Kaiser and able to plan from there. Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.
Aside from being Godawful hot and humid it is nice here. Very quiet. A few sprinkles of rain a few days ago. Not enough to hlep much. Skies are beautiful - so blue with a few white clouds.
Maria has taken her adopted daughter to La Paz to get enrolled in college. She will then be going to Ca. to see if she can track down any of her blood relatives as she was adoppted when she was a baby.
Last night I slept for many hours but had some really yukky dreams and woke up in a lot of physical pain. Part of my reason for deciding not to delay my trip.
Must get back to cleaning out the van. Still holding a few things from my last trip.
Betty, I'm so happy you are getting away and can leave the mom stuff for Sharon to cope with for a while. Do consider taking a "wrong turn" and coming to Mexico for a long visit. Heat and humidity would probably be less stressful than what awaits you at home.
big hugs everyone, katie
