Yes J's Grands are pretty young maybe 8 and 6 or close to that.
Looks like I will have to start enjoying Shakespeare. DIL Deb and GS JR are in the choirs for a local Shakespeare group and we went to watch them a few weeks ago. I'm not a big Shakespeare fan, but they act in a big barn and it was fun, just wish they did different shows. A good 3 hrs of Romeo and Juliet to hear JR & Deb sing 3 times for maybe 5 minutes combined. Now Jamie is going to act in the next play, Titus Andronicus. He is going to be a solider non-speaking part as work might be sending him on a few different trips this summer.
Your neck of the Woods Part 10 Memorial Day
sounds like a fun interest for them to have developed, Holly! My brother was into theater for a while and really enjoyed it.
Enjoy the ball/t-ball games! :-)
Cool, I like Shakespeare!!!
I'm home, not very motivated to go outside and work in the Garden might go out and read under the Gazebo. Had a great time J's grandson's team won their game by 1 run. It was a good game and very close. Only had to do one game turns out the second game was also for the Grandson the Granddaughter's game finished up last week.
Glad you had a fun time, Holly--hope you got some relaxing time in at the gazebo, enjoying the beauty you've created.
FYI, Holly and Ric--today I feel much better post-surgery for the ptosis. So, the day of surgery it was painful, Friday very bad headache with lots of swelling, Saturday very itchy and uncomfortable with even more swelling (my eyes were practically swollen shut yesterday--I felt like those characters in books who are described as looking out of tiny slits following a run in with a bee hive :-o), but today it's much better. So, the first few days are tough but then it seems to be okay! However, bad patient that I am, I never stopped yardening entirely! ;-)
Hoping you are seeing better today, catmint and the swelling has subsided.

thanks, Jan!
7 of the grandies? How many total do you have, Jan? An embarrassment of riches! :-) Would love to see some photos!!
Sally, you were lucky to have a sister to help you with the hair coloring. Like I said, my brother was never much good for that sort of thing... ;-)

haha Catmint, a brother is the LAST person you'd want to 'help' with hair dye...
I had the hair dye conversation with my sisters recently. I have never dyed my hair, and so far no real grey to contend with. The conversation started because my youngest sister (6 years younger than me) has started to get grey hair and was bemoaning the fact that both her older sisters aren't yet. Boy, were we surprised to learn that the other sister (4 years younger than me) has been dying her hair for 10 years! It looks so natural and is the same color as her hair has always been that we never even knew :)
Looks like you lucked out on the gray hair genes, Aspenhill! One of my grandmothers was graying by 40, and the other barely had any gray at 85. So, guess which one I took after?? ;-)
I think it's funny that Jamie has more grey than I do and started about the same time I did. Josh has more male pattern hair loss than I, and his dad had a mop of hair.
I wish I'd gotten my Dad's hair (not the mustache, mind you..), he had GREAT hair!!!!! I got Mom's hair, and quite frankly, I do not dare to see what it would look like if I don't dye it!! =0
My Mom had what I call 'used SOS pad' gray hair, not attractive at all. My former mother in law (who passed away on Friday) started going gray at 20, dyed her hair for years, finally let it go gray. She had the most beautiful gray hair.
I noticed mine is getting to be more gray than brown again, tempted to let it go and see how it looks.
My coworker has thick gorgeous grey hair. It can be done. But not by me LOL
My husband dyes my hair for me. It's a big production -- he dons the gloves, covers my shirt in a trash bag, wraps up the hair plastic wrap afterwards etc. It's so much cheaper than going to the salon. I can't imagine spending $100 on it every couple of months.
sounds like you've got a keeper, SSG! :-)
Well, yes, he doesn't mow the lawn but he does dye my hair. I guess we all have to compromise. :)
ssg I never guessed you had dyed your hair! Good job Mr Ssg!!
yeah I for saving the money too
I would never have guessed either, SSG! :-) Sounds like a good trade to me!
I have NEVER yet dyed my hair yet--and i am 77.
I DO have gray around my face and temples--and it is spreading---I use this product called
"Fanciful Rinse" (get it at Sally's--get the right tone for you) to just dab around my gray areas
after i shampoo. It only lasts till the next shampoo--or about 2 days.
So far--most of my hair is the same color I had when i was CHILD.
I am grateful for my Genes that I do not have to pay for any coloring.
The day will come--and I am not sure what i will do....
I LOVE he people that have the silvery white gray hair. That is very attractive.
The "dishwasher" gray--is not so nice looking...
I don't think the silvery white is in my family---so I will end up with the yukky gray.
G.
My maternal grandmother had snow-white "grey" hair, my Mom has it.. and I'm sure that's what I have underneath the Preference by L'Oreal. ;) My Dad had hair like yours though, Gita; darn near no greys at all, it was pitch black and THICK and wavy. When he died I think he might have had 4 or 5 greys in there. Then again, he was very young, only 56.
Ssg, your DH sure does sound like a keeper! Mine will mow the lawn, in dire straights, but the norm around here is more like him doing the inside chores (dishes, laundry, etc), and I go outside and do all that stuff out there. We laugh about our reversed roles, but it's all good, we're both happy 'cause he is NOT an outside kinda guy! =)
speedie, sounds as if you have a keeper too. Holly and I spend so much time and effort outside this time of year, housekeeping suffers. Many times housekeeping chores get done after dark or on rainy days. We joke about the floors since we both track in and out while yardening, she'll ask what I'm doing and I reply that, I thought I'd better vacuum before we decide to plant it.LOL Dishes are the same, they end up in the sink till evening, and then get loaded into the washer. Laundry is a whole different matter, when I run out of clothes, I do loads between outside jobs, folding waits till evening. We could use someone who likes to do household chores.
Speedie, that's terrific that your DH will do the inside chores and let you focus on the outside! :-) What a perfect combo!
I have my 12-year old DD to help out, but getting her to pull off the earbuds and focus on chores has become a time-consuming process. :-b We did get a fair amount done yesterday, though.
LOL Ric--your indoor life sounds a lot like mine has been the past few months! :-D I love the part about plants growing on the floor!!

I am very thankful for my Hunny Bunch! :) Actually, it sounds like we all have Hunnies to be thankful for. :)
Ric, so now we know about y'all's "indoor gardening"!! Hahahahaahaahaaa. Holly: "I'm going into the kitchen Ric, ya want anything?" Ric: "No thanks, but be careful not to trip over the tomato plants and Vinca in the hallway!" LOL!!!!!! < =D
I'll try again with a pic of 7 of 12 grandies.
Also, please be praying for us and our journey which starts this afternoon when Jeff gets home from school. I have to finish packing up the cold food and we should be good to go. I'll check in when I can, just know that I will be thinking of you all having fun in your gardens, whilst we galavant.
LOL, It was a bit rainny here yesterday and I finally knocked down some of the cobwebs in the livingroom, cleaned up the house plants and moved some of them onto the back deck figured the overcast and rainy weather they are calling for would be good for them and give me a chance to move them outside without them getting sunburned. I even swept up the floor just a little as I was tired of concrete dust and crumbles under my feet. I just finished painting the last of the 3 leaves and now have my diningroom table back.
Jan, Have a great trip.
Safe travels, Jan and Jeff!! What a precious crew of kids there!
Thank you. We are like two kids in a (i wAs going to say candy store), but, lumber yard and nursery would be more appropriate. Hehehehehe
The most 'precious' thing is they can go home, so that we get the best times with them. Hehehehe.
I hope you have a safe trip!
ohmigosh, Jan, they are adorable! :-) Happy travels!
Holly, I wasn't motivated to be outside yesterday either--we got some tidying done, and the laundry not only done but *put away*--woohoo, that is like a totally big deal in our family... ;-)
Jan---
Be safe....have a good time...and take a lot of pictures to show us
when you get back..
This is a wonderful thing you are doing....God speed.....
G.
Jan, that one girl looks sort of like you. She's the one in the back by the window. I hope you have a safe trip :)
yes Jeff, that one is especially Jan like. I see her! It fascinates me how we can see people in their kids or grandkids faces.
I agree, Sally. It is amazing how much shuffling goes on during cell division and yet a child can be the spitting image of only one parent! Or a sibling, or a grandparent!
Yesterday I went on a field trip with August. One of the teachers who is familiar with my husband and August but not me, commented: "Ooooh now I know which parent he looks like!" Yeah, he's mine. Adele looks a little more like Sean, but not much.... Sorry, Babe! ;)
Hehehe, I knew which one you meant ,right off. She is the spitting image of me. Personality wise, not soooo much. I am very laid back.
Gita, this isn't the missions trip that we are leaving for today. This is drivetoalaskainanrvtrip. The Ivory Coast mission trip is two weeks after I get back in August. Then home for two weeks and a plant swap at RicnHolly's.
Thanks everyone. I'm just waiting for Jeff to get home from school and finishing up last load of laundry.
How exciting, Jan! Have fun!
Oh my GOSH, you guys are right, she looks JUST like a little miniature version of Jan!!! HOW WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! < =D Jan, that pic is beautiful, what a gorgeous bunch!
LOL, the "drivetoalaskainanrvtrip"!!! Took me an extra minute to work that one out! ;) YAY, you'll be at the Swap in Sept Jan, me too!! < =D
Any of you familiar with Leo Sharp? He's apparently a famous daylily hybridizer.
He was caught trafficking cocaine for a major cartel and sentenced to 3 year in federal prison. He was 87 years old at the time of the arrest.
Here's an excellent (but long) article on it, with some pictures of the daylilies he's hybridized. He's apparently famous for the daylily cultivar Brookwood Ojo Poco.

Check out the arrest video near the top of the page if you don't have the time to read it.
sounds like a colorful character!
