Holly, thanks for the heads up.
Spring Plant Swap 2014 in Lucketts, VA - Part 2
Thanks, Gita,
Looks like I have a few Pink Coral vines that made it. (3)
Also have a few Delphinium that look healthy.
Hi!
Has anyone seen my post of haves and wants? Since I'm new, I can't find it! :) Thanks.
Welcome, Blossomgiver! You posted next to last here, and then Holly welcomed you.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1347379/#new
Glad to have you joining us.
Hi blossomgiver, welcome!
Catmint - may I have some of your Monarda didymus Coral Reef please?
Devon - trying to get plants in to attract the hummers for the girls - may I have a few of your Monarda "Raspberry Wine" and Penstemon "Huskers Red" if I've not asked already.
Jill - never mind on the Jasmine stephanense - obviously hacking my down accidental didn't kill it. I've got a bush of it all sprouting up now....whaaa whooo!!
All: I've add baby Red Buds to my list. I was in the back yard finally and I'm not seeing any Passifloras yet...will keep looking till Friday night. If there are any they will be small...just an FYI
Anyone with any Agastache? I realized it didn't come up last year and I'm not seeing any this year yet. :-( Donner, do you have any remaining?
Anyone know if clematis cuttings can be rooted - I have a white smelly good one that has taken over my right fence. Happy to share as long as someone provides instructions.
Got you down for the 'Coral Reef', Chantell!
Less than a week away! I had a lot of yardening help this weekend and it was beautiful weather to be outside. I think the yarden is officially "ready" for our get together - well, as much as I plan on doing anyway LOL.
I know this thread is getting really, really long but it might be too confusing to start a part 3. If anyone is having a lot of difficulty with it loading, let me know but otherwise I won't start a new one until the post swap chatting and wrap up.
OOPS, I welcomed on the wrong thread. Bad me.
Blossomgiver, There is no chatting on the Haves / Wants thread so I will move my welcome over here. Maybe after the swap you would like to come visit with a shovel and see if I have anything else that you would like.
Greenthumb & Muddy would you be interested in some mini cattails for your ponds?
Oops, I did, too. I'll follow you anywhere, Holly. Hehehe. Welcome Blossom
Looking forward to Saturday.
Blossom,
Please check your d-mail. Thanks, Jessica (Gardadore)
Chantell: I have you covered.
Thanks for all your help. Green -- may I have campanula? I have white Jap. anemone. SOS - may I have moss phlox? Holly -- I'd like Yellow archangel and creeping phlox. RRR, I think you said lisianthus didn't make it. Aspenhill -- what hellebores? I have foetidus, rose and white. Coleup and Gitagal asters, please and solidago.
Gardadore -- daphne, knautia and any Chelone, thanks. See you son.
blossom - I have 2 noid hellebores potted up for grabs - they are probably Pine Knots strain, which will be single pink or white shades, but I don't know for sure.
Chantel, I won't be home until Friday afternoon, but will dig up Agastache for you on Saturday before I go to the swap.
Ric, I would love to try some of your Spanish bluebells!
I'm still seeing things starting to sprout up, far later than usual, while others are already at full height. Not giving up on my agastaches yet, but it doesn't look good... surely one or two will make it??
Holly, sadly my Pickerel Weed isn't showing any sign of new growth yet either. But one of my hardy water lilies is crowding its pot (yellow, I think), so I could sure divide that one. I'm just starting to see leaves on some of the lotus, too.
Is anybody interested in lotus tubers? They are hardy, at least usually -- a couple of pots aren't showing any sign of life yet. I should be able to root around for a couple of starts even if I don't dump out the pots to divide them this year (as I should but may not be able to). I even have a couple of big Costco pots available (at cost, $17 with tax) -- instant water garden!!
Oh, and I also have extra of a water garden / marginal plant called "water celery" -- hardy, and needs to be "thinned" often enough that I wouldn't set it loose in a pond. :-)
Thanks Critter, Think I'm good for water plants this year.
Catmint I have you for them on my list.
thanks, Holly. Is that Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica)?
No They are Spanish Bluebells or Wood Hyacinths they are a spring bulb. I do also have you down for Va Bluebells a very different plant. I think I confused you when I said I had you on my list. What I meant was I was putting you down on my list for the Spanish Bluebells.
Here is a mass planting at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and one of my much smaller plantings. LOL
thanks, Holly--yes, I wanted both kinds--thanks! Love that mass planting photo!
Cat--I have often offered bulbs for Wood Hyacinths--aka Spanish Bluebells.
I have loads of bulbs--they multiply so fast!
The colors they come in are blue--white--and pink. I have mostly white--and blue.
The few pinks I had have to 'propagate" for a year or so.
This picture is from 2005--that is how long I have had these.
The white ones are from this month.
G.
Gita, Ric is looking for some pink and white so if you have some white ones to bring he would love that.
My friend Theresa is planning to come, perhaps bringing her brother Tom as well... many of you have met them at previous events. I'm hoping my new neighbor & gardening friend Martina will come by also.
Theresa says she'll bring pasta salad. or cake. She's an amazing baker, so I'm hoping for cake!
Donner - please don't worry about it...I don't want you having to be digging the morning of the swap...really it's not a big deal.
Very pretty, Gita! Could I have some of your white ones to go with Holly's blue ones? :-)
I have white wood hyacinth also. They get thick so there are patches that need to be thinned. If you don't get enough from Gita, I sure will have them at some point.
Hey guys, I think my "promised" list is up-to-date but I'd like everyone who I'm supposed to be bringing stuff for to take another look at the list. I need to take stock of what I've promised and finish potting up, so I'm going to stop taking requests at the end of today. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=9757942
Please let me know if I forgot anything!
Last minute requests/offers:
SOS07: Were you able to find a home for your Delaware White Azalea? Do you just have one plant or more than one? If you have 2 available I'd love to have both but I'll take just the one if you haven't promised it already.
Buttoneer: Can I have one of your cinnamon fern? I saw a huge, beautiful one at Longwood Gardens this weekend.
Blossomgiver: I don't know how to root ninebark either but if you bring me several 6 inch lengths wrapped in damp paper towels, I'll try to root them myself. I'll probably fail, but there's a dim possibility that I might succeed too! ;)
Gita: I have a butterfly weed for you.
Ric: I have 'Mortgage Lifter' seeds but no plants yet, do you want some seeds? It's not too late! :)
I will also bring a bunch of Black-eyed Susan babies with me. They're probably 'Indian Summer', but I'm not 100% sure. I'd say I'm 90% sure. Tons and tons of volunteers! :)
Holly and cat---
It will be NO problem digging up a hand-full of the white bulbs for you both.
I have very few pinks--and they are mixed into the blues.
Have NO idea where....sorry. If you reminf me early next year--I can rag them
when they are blooming.
AVAILABLE----ask away!
A big bunch of dug up Stellas
A bunch of dug up teye-a-tetes
Several pots of dug up Euphorbias---(amygalodes )--(sp.??)
About 4 pots of Nepeta "walkers low" catmint...
4 pots of rooted yellow/green Acuba
Gita
Gita, can I have your Tete-a-tetes? I lost some last winter in the deep freeze. Thank you! :)
karen--OK! thanks...G.
Typwc I'd love BES volunteers! Your Mohito is huge already and your H 'Lime Light ' is actually one of the two plants in the large container I bought last fall.
Gita Two 'Walkers Low' Catmint for me please and I have room for another clump of Stellas if no one else speaks up
Blossom I am interested in your 'Ruby Spice' clethra.
Ric I need three blue Spanish blue bells to complete a design.
Anyone I have one or two 'Black Stem" Colocasias
Yay! Thanks Gita!
Coleup, I'm so excited about all those things! Will bring an extra bunch of BES for you.
Gita - if there's enough I'd love a pot if the Nepeta "walkers low" catmint
I have lots of heirloom tomato plants grown from seed that will be available. The seeds I picked up at the seed swap were labeled Cherokee Purple, Rose, Polish Linguisa, Arkansas Traveler, Georgia Peach, Limbaughs Legacy, and Mortgage Lifter. There are at least 4 of each variety and up to 8 on some. Ric, I can give you what grew from seed labeled as 'Mortgage Lifter', but even to my untrained eye, the plants that grew from that batch of seeds look very different from each other - I think a few actually look like pepper plants instead of tomato plants LOL....
Anybody interested in Alpine Catchfly (Lychnis alpinus)? There are always extra volunteer seedlings. They shoot up and bloom with tiny hot pink flowers in their 2nd year... low foliage is also nice... and they do reseed but not thuggishly. Joyanna passed a lot of them around last year, but I know we've got new people coming (yay!) this year, and really every garden should have this cutie.
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1907/
I just google the Catchfly and I'm sure I can find a space in my garden for such a pretty little thing. I will take some if you have enough, Jill.
If you have more than enough for RRR, I'll take some too Critter :)
I bought one this spring and wouldn't mind another.
