Gita, may I have 2 of the Acubas please? May as well get started on the shady side of the house.
Jill, I would like some of the Catchfly also.
Thank you.
Spring Plant Swap 2014 in Lucketts, VA - Part 2
Gita, I would like one aucuba and one Walker's Low catmint, please.
Coleup, I'd love a black stem! Sadly, mine isn't waking up.
Does anyone have any tall ferns up for grabs? LMK
Does anyone have any golden Euonymous they could share?
Coleup----Chantelle----Cat---and SS---
OK on all your above requests. Gita
Just wanted to add--i am NOT 100% sure my Nepeta is a "Walkers Low".
I saw a picture of some nepetas--and mine looked a lot like it.
OK! Just FYI, Gita
I'm going to have close quarters as usual - if we bring soda and ice might a couple of you bring a cooler or 2 or do you have done Terri?
Jill - I'd love some of your catchfly if you have any remaining
Jill, if you have enough I'd love some catchfly also! :-)
It is getting close to crunch time---I am going NUTS! SO many plants!
Where do they all come from? next year--i will NOT do this. (she says....)..
WHY do i do this every year?????????????
Therefore--may I ask that there be NO NEW REQIUESTS from me!
Closing the "book".....
Thank you. Gita
I'm looking for an assortment of mints for pots if anybody has a variety of mints lmk.
Very ominous looking here..
I can give some cuttings, maybe roots will come up with them.
Mints in pots always look straggly for me, tired of them
Apple mint, some other, will just bring , you can either take or just leave them to make my van smell better.
Hahaha thanks sally.
I have some NOID mint I can bring, Terp.
Sequoia, what do you mean by tall ferns? I have Ostrich Ferns. I don't think of them as particularly tall, but you can have some if you want them. I'm planning to bring a pond full of them : )
I've noted Alpine Catchfly seedlings in a number of places, even a few in pots where the "original occupant" is no more, so no problem bringing plenty of them. (noting requests so far from Roses, Sequoia, Catbird, Chantell, Catmint)
I've got some Chocolate Peppermint potted and will yank some up on the day of the swap also. Friday will be my day to organize, pot up some more goodies, so I may have a flurry of last minute posts LOL.
Excellent thanks everybody.
Coleup I have you down for the Spanish blue bells
Our pond is not that large, but we appreciate your offer. Thanks for thinking of us.
I have been away and without computer access much of the time over the past few weeks. If anyone requested anything from me on this or any other thread instead of d-mailing me, please d-mail me or you will likely not receive your request.
Holly, if you have mini-cats looking for a home, I'd like a start of them, please. I'm not sure mine are coming back this year. Thanks!
If anyone would like a lotus tuber, please speak up -- I probably won't bring those "just in case," but I'd hate for somebody to miss out.
'Chawan Basu', 'Pink Pretty Princess Peyton', 'F. Thousand Petal'
And yes, I grow them in big pots. http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/3338/
Gotta Jill
My Corydalis lutea went to town with volunteers popping up by my front walk this spring... I pulled up a dozen just this afternoon as I was weeding, and I tucked them into a cup so I could give them a new home... ?
SSG, I checked out my remaining potted azaleas... one 'Poukanense' looks deader than the proverbial doornail, but I did find another that's looking a bit rough but still has foliage... I'm guessing it will get more TLC from you than from me, so I'm bringing it!
Sally, realized I'd never addresssed "that vine thing." I thought it was a wisteria until one bloomed last spring with very jasmine-looking and jasmine-scented blooms. Yet it doesn't quite look like my Stephan's Jasmine... Somebody left me a pot of mystery vine a couple of years ago, and it self-sowed in my moist gravel "pad" in the corner of the back yard; that's where these vines came from that I potted up last year. So, basically, I'm looking forward to your finding out what it is, LOL.
Sally, do you have any 'Blue Spruce' sedum left? Mine did not like its location last winter. :-( Also, do you need more "teeny tiny sedum?" Mine is very happy (and multiplying) now!
Oh, and if you have a piece of fernleaf Corydalis left, I'd love to try it Thanks.
Happy, if you had good luck with your 'Linwood' forsythia cuttings, I'd love one, please. I'd also appreciate a start of your Euphorbia amyg. v. robbiae and your Sedum ternatum, if available.
Blossomgiver, do you still have a 'Ruby Spice' Clethra available?
Critter: I've got you down for Euphorbia amyg. v. robbiae and Sedum ternatum. I have plenty. The Euphorbia is very hard to dig up because its roots glue to whatever is below the top soil so it may look terrible. But it is quite aggressive so let me know if it doesn't work and I'll bring more.
I never got around to rooting the Linwood forsythia. It is supposed to be easy to root, and I definitely will be rooting some for myself. Would you like fresh cuttings on Saturday, or rooted plants later this season, or both?
Chantell, I've got coolers. Don't worry about bringing any for the drinks.
Jill, I don't think my lotus made it through the winter - at least I don't see anything yet. I'd love another tuber of the Peyton Pink Princess just in case. And if the one from last year is still alive, I'd still be thrilled to have the extra one.
Muddy, Ostrich fern would do. I'd like a couple small clumps if possible. My Capistrano rhodies are getting sparse as they get bigger and I wanted to put something behind them to fill in the open space.
Critter, my azalea's alive, too! I'm glad at least one of yours survived. I'll try to keep this one alive. :)
Almost forgot to bring out this point. BEWARE!
This is Tick season and we just came back from Central Va (Dillwyn), which is having the worst tick season on record. I was bitten 8 times and 3 of the bites have become infected so I am on a high dose of Amoxicillin. Having learned the hard way, I now literally cover all exposed areas of my body with insect repellant (any %age of Deet). Since there are woods at aspen hill's house, like our place, I would highly recommend taking precautions as we will be doing. The Rocky Mt. Spotted fever from the Rocky Mt. Spotted tick is extremely serious and in some people, has become fatal. Chills, Fever, Seizures, and can affect the heart. I would rather be stinky and enjoying the day with a lot of stinky people whom I will continue to to enjoy our friendship than smell like a rose and leave a fragrant memory.

BTW, Bobbin is coming as is another lady who just joined DG, (Blossom giver), with her friend. Looking forward to a great and safe day. Button.

Buttoneer, very good advice about using Deet. I'll bring a can of Deet spray to share with everyone.
Does anyone have an extra cherry tomato plant? Or a small determinate tomato?
Terp, I'm bringing all of the Ostrich Ferns growing in random places in my yard. Many of them are already 2' x 2', so they should fill in your area nicely.
Critter, I have some rooted NOID Forsythia volunteers I can bring if you're interested. I need to dig them up because they're too close to other plants.
The ostrich ferns were for me Muddy ;)
And thank you!

Sequoia, I think Muddy is generously sharing her ostrich ferns with a number of us: Critter, Cricket, Terp, me and you.
Oh sweet, I didn't know :)
Yeah, I got mixed up. Terp wanted mint. Good thing I wrote everything down correctly on my list!
Here's an offbeat offer for all you veggie growers. I have an almost full bag of kaolin, an organic crop protectant: http://www.gardensalive.com/2/p/8072/
I bought it thinking I would use it to protect my plants from the cicadas that were expected in great numbers whenever that was. I bought special cicada netting too and we didn't get a single cicada! I like to think that the money and time I spent kept them away : )
Anyway, I'll put the bag in the car and perhaps some baggies in case a couple of you want to try it.
I don't grow any veggies, just berries, and it's not something I want to use on ornamentals because it leaves a white film on the leaves.
Sorry to say that the seeds that were sold to me as Cardinal Climber lhave leaves that look nothing like the leaves of a Cardinal Climber. I will bring what is growing in the cups for those of you who requested Cardinal Climber, but I don't really know what kind of vines are in the cups.
ssg, I been meaning to say I have a couple Sungold CHerry tomato to bring.
good point Button- we pick ticks off constantly.
Muddy, sure, I'll take some forsythia noids. Just pull them up (hopefully easy after the rain) and put them in a bag tied shut around the roots... I'll pot up one as a backup and put the others right into the ground to help block the view of the construction fence. Thanks! And thank you for keeping us from being completely overrun by cicadas that year. ;-)
Roses, i've run into confusion with "cardinal vine" before... it's one of those common names that's used for 2 different plants. Maybe you have Ipomoea quamoclit (also aka cypress vine) rather than Iopmoea multifida -- or vice versa. Good news is they are very similar -- vigorous annual vines with little red blooms that the hummingbirds adore!
