Hopefully she will get through this "crisis" and realize she can handle little emergencies. Maybe if she can call a friend to help talk her through this.
Sweet Interruptions # 285
Whenever Kel and I have that chance to Havana, fix extra meatloaf for him!!
Marion, he loves ketchup on his. I'll just grab some Cuban food ;)
Will Sue ever consider selling off the property and move close to you?
Rarely fix meatloaf here Karen. Like 3 times a year maybe. Kel wants ketchup smothered on his and I like mine brown. So I had to fix two pans.. just thinking of that makes me lazy!! Lol!
LOL well Jaye, I am seriously hoping you and Kel make it here some day...sooner rather than later. I do put a catsup based topping on mine but it also has nutmeg and brown sugar mixed into the mixture. Sometimes I think that is why the kids ask for it. :-)
Karen, I am so hoping and praying this is a hurdle as I almost get sick thinking I might be facing that drive again Monday. Getting to old to do this by myself. :-0
The idea of selling was/has been discussed but she isn't completely ready to do that just yet. Besides she really needs to wait a little longer to adjust to mom's being gone.....and getting therapy. Wouldn't want to have to find someone up here as she does have 2 really great people working with her.
PS Jaye..standard menu here: meatloaf, mac and cheese plus baby lima beans. Spoiled that male child of mine.....now his girls.
Hooray so glad to hear Sue is doing good. ! :) Well those poor little kittys left with no mama to feed and love on them. Oh so much hardship you gave them kitties. For shame.
Tom may be at moment my everything. But there is still time and other issues at hand that need to be dealt with. If we continue this relationship further.
well its wonderful weather out ,but i m inside cleaning :(
hurt my wrist/ hand at gym. the fingers just are so stiff !! and the pain shoots all the way up my to my shoulder... not horrible pain but enough to keep me alert of my hand.
wake up everyone. it's morning. rise and shine!
....but it is early. Do I have to get now?
Morning everyone!
Sue, sorry to hear about your hand! Hope it is feeling better today!
I've done been to wally world and the supermarket, put groceries away, and am fixinto set up new computer, then make strawberry preserves
Good day everyone.
Today, is a blistering hot day. It's 90 degrees and I'm not in Texas!
Hey Sis Kathy, why the new pc? I thought you got a new one not too long ago. So sorry you've been having pc problems. At least the prices have come down a lot.
I'd like to start my shopping done early, but it's hard to wake up sleeping beauty.
No Marion, stay in bed for as long as you can! You need the rest after all that running around you did for Sue. Indulge in doing nothing. Monday will soon be here, and I pray you don't have to make that trip. Hopefully the repairman get the pump fixed and life continues at her new best usual.
Sue, be careful with that hand! Stay indoors, no lifting for now. Scratch off that to do list for the day!
Kel hurt his little right pinky finger the day before and must have affected a nerve as like you, the pain runs through his shoulder too.
LK, did the gingers make it this year? Mine are starting to show up. I thought for sure the ice would kill some mounds, but all survive.
Stay cool sistahs
Looking good LK. Similar in taste to jalapeno jelly?
I just bought a new tower. this makes 4 computers and 1 laptop. it's made buy acer. it's my mothers day present. jaye, you know I get one every 2-3 years
Sorry Sis, didn't mean to rile you up! Thinking that maybe you don't get along with electronic stuffs.. like your vacuum cleaner! Lolol!!!
Acer's a good buy. My gift from you all is still running good. Just need it's brains checked out once so far!
I bit the bullet. June 2nd is slated for MIL's hip surgery. She doesn't have anyone willing to take care of her when she's released. Her other son and DIL aren't talking to her.
Her favorite niece is shooting for the new season of Sleepy Hollow.
Her sisters in law washed their hands off her.
So.. instead of Kel having to take leave,. I will be staying with her until she's back to normal.
I do hope by then, on acct. of her age, the doctor will decide to keep her longer at the hospital for the convenience of physical therapy? Kel and I doubt that very much.
Hence sistahs, I'm asking prayers EARLY!!! God loves me so much that He's giving me greater challenges!!!
Jaye, so far only 3 gingers have popped up, they are about a foot or more tall. Don't know why there are not more?
The jalapeno's are sweet like bread and butter pickles, but with a little bit to them. Not real hot.
It is only 83 here, but the humidity is 56%. Supposed to reach 96 this afternoon!
Sending lots of prayers for you Jaye!
They don't pop up at the same town. Go ahead and 'flood' the mounds. Imitate the monsoon season.
Can you share the recipe Sis? I'd love to make some.
Thanks. I WILL need them.
Bread and Butter Jalapenos
4 lbs jalapeno fresh peppers
pearl onion (if desired) fresh or canned
8 cups white vinegar
4 cups sugar
4 Tablespoons mustard seed
4 teaspoon ground turmeric
4 teaspoon celery seed
2 teaspoon ground ginger
Wash and cut jalapenos and onions into thin slices (about 1/4 inch) and pack into jars (I would suggest a pair of rubber gloves for handling jalapenos, personal experience!).
Place remaining ingredients in large sauce pot and bring to a boil.
Pour hot mixture into jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space.
Remove air bubbles. Tighten caps.
Process 10 minutes in boiling water bath, makes about 8 pints
Let sit for at least 2 weeks, and enjoy!
I water them daily. Sure hope more pop up!
OMG LK.. the ingredients are what my late mother used for her Malay pickles!!
Except that she used juliennes of carrots, cucumbers (with the middle removed), whole shallots, deseeded sliced red chillies and real gingers!!
Sometimes she add ground peanuts to the mixture. Her pickles never last long. As kids, we love to eat them with white rice.
Thank you LK. My sisters will be shocked!
Oh, once in a while, she'd add chunk pineapples.
Sounds good! Just make sure you have the doors open, or a good fan going. It will clear your sinus's when cooking the brine!
strawberry preserves are finished. now to clean up the mess
Hello all, been kinda busy around here. We are having tbe gang over for mothers day. We have not had pepole over in awhile. So I am looking forward to it very much. I got my mom themost adorable purple hummingbird necklace at kohls for mothers day. She will love it they both are her favorites.
Seems like all are doing well. A happy bunch of friends on this site. Glad to see that. Have a great wednesday all.
Bright sunny day, slight breeze and fairly nice. Patio is full of junk and lots of dirt so I was out seeing what was hidden under everything. Think my trash barrel is going to be full this week. Getting rid of some styrofoam containers I know I will never use. Had big plans at the time, but out they go. Will keep some nice ones for planting. Taking a rest before I go out and tackle the job again.
Today is Darwin's 80th birthday. Wow, he doesn't feel like celebrating at all. Laying on the sofa now watching the boob tube. I don't have to worry about him wandering away as he has a hard time walking around. Waiting for a call from the nurse at Palliative Care about the "powerful" laxative not working. Don't know if he should continue taking it or not. I know constipation is what is making him miserable right now. The chemo/radiation shot hasn't seemed to affect him in a bad way. When he sees the oncologist on the 23rd then another order will be put in for the 2nd shot.
Going to wash up some flower pots that have collected a lot of dirt. I may have my son take me over to Lowe's for more potting soil and maybe a couple of plants.........on sale.
I haven't got a clue!
Well, garden club went well last night. 12 showed to make troughs. At one point, I thought there were 19 coming. So I was pleased with 12. I worked so late getting ready for them that I got my shower but no make up for the whole night. I was so tired I didn't even care. The house and garden looked great though!
Marion, I'm so happy you're home and I hope Sue deals with this and is proud of herself to the point she realizes she doesn't need you at all! Anyway, enjoy your time at home with Abbie and Katie Beth! Oh yeah, and your kids, too! 😋
Karen I don't know what that plant is either. Maybe some sort of lily?
Happy Birthday Darwin.
happy birthday to Darwin
Sounds like fun Cookie. im sure they all had a great time.
went shopping today.

one shirt
some work out clothes just sweats and a tshirt
two pictures with inspirational sayings.
Got Tom a new tshirt. LOL it says , " I'm not a gynocologist , but i will take a look " Sorry if i offend. i just couldn't help myself LOL
Found out it is garlic, what looked like a bud is called the scape, you pull those off.
karen i didn't get a good look at the picutre. yes and the flower will come to seed soon. I pickle my garlic scapes. You can also chop them and use them in soups and other dishes. they have a mild garlic flavor.
good morning
im growing out my nails . they make me feel pretty :) but honestly i can't type LOL and its kinda of a pain.
we shall see
gonna be a warm one today !
Good morning everyone. Happy birthday to Darwin.
To funny about the shirt Sue..it brought back a memory I had forgotten about. When Ross and I moved to Gainesville, lo those many years ago, there was a Dr. Eidness on staff. He was somewhat of a major joker and could come up with some totally shocking statements. I took Ross to work on morning while he was in town and being we hadn't met yet, he came over. Ross introduced us BUT forgot to warn me about his comments!! So the introducing I got was "Hello, my name is Fred Eidness, I am the company gynocologist and I make housecalls" Duh! What does one say?
It just doesn't pay for me to be gone very long. Our over the stove microwave died while I was away..no huge problem, we can deal with that for awhile. Then last night I mixed up the meatloaf (Yes Jaye, with catsup on top for Kel) put it in the oven and went about my chores. Checked back later and no heat!! So now, I have to go find a new wall over and get it installed. This makes the 3rd time the thermostat had gone in the 11 yrs. we have lived here so I am not going to put another 250 -300 into a 16 yo oven. Kim has cake orders so this is rather necessary now. Just the way I wanted to spend my day! Oh well, it could be worse.
marion, sorry to hear about your stove. what happened to the meatloaf? did you serve it raw?
I have a small convection oven so I put the one for my son and his family in there...cooked it sent it on it's way. Then I divided the one I had left (larger as son will be working here on Friday and Saturday and will want meatloaf sandwiches) into 2 smaller pans and backed them. Kim and I had left overs.
Saved the meatloaves so all was not lost. Just didn't have oven shopping on my future things to do. Oh well, it is, what it is.
y'all need to go to this thread and read what these girls are doing to their babies. it's unreal!

Happy 80th Darwin!!
Hope you had the appetite to devour some great cake or ice cream!
Pegi, would you believe last year, I made use of postal boxes as planters for new clematis? I just remove the bottom, and camouflaged the outside with more soil. I am surprised they work.
The clematis returned this year, I thought they're gone!!
I'd just have to be on the lookout for styrofoam boxes now.
Sis Kathy, that looked like some weeds that cropped out in our dry areas here. Hmm.. don't kill it yet, wait for blooms.
It's a shame that the grocery stores here don't sell garlic greens. They're great in stir frys.
Hey Sue, I got a kick out of that tshirt. I'm sure he won't mind looking......just like most straight men!! Lol!!
Oh Marion, I would be red faced if someone would introduce himself as the company gyne making house calls!
Told Kel about your macaroni side dish to go with your meatloaf.. you're lucky he's not next door. You and Kim won't have leftovers.
Yes I agree, don't put any more $$ in your old oven, time to get a new one, to help with Kim's hobby.
Will you be adding more hydrangeas this year? When I think all is lost, my Nikko blue is still faithful.
LK, I "FB"ed my sisters, and they told me that mum added coriander and cumin seeds. Celery seeds aren't available in Asian countries. But yes, very similar recipe.
I'll try to remember to raise the window when I do it!
Karen, I see you're still trying to sell your house. I hear the housing market is on the rise now, perhaps soon, sistah you'll get a buyer.
Ronna, summer will offer more concerts!! I'm sure your music lover husband has a couple in mind!
Antibiotics finally kicking in. The vertigo has lessened, though the ringing is still there.
I had switched from Allegra D to Mucinex Decongestant...and it works better. Finally something is draining.
Been flushing, but quit when I read online that if one's ears are clogged, not to flush. Might damage the ear drum :( Oh well... always something!!
Waving to Barb and "Lurkers" :)
thanks jaye, i'll let it bloom
If it survive drought, it's a weed!! Lol!!
Cookie, I'm glad that all your work for the garden club pays off. You don't need make up, you're beautiful au naturale!!!
