2014 N Central TX RU May 18th (Arlington) TRADE THREAD #1

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Sheila could I get some American Germander and some Rudbeckia from you?

(Becky), Lipan, TX(Zone 7b)

Steadycam3 - Negative on the Matelea reticulata, I want some too now though! LOL

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

About the 4 o'clock seed, flower child. I still want some of those peach or salmon colored ones you talked about last year. also if you go out there now and look, you'll probably see lots of volunteers that you could dig up.

Arlington, TX

Sheila could I have a JP phlox if you still have one?

Arlington, TX

Stephanie, I potted up 2 red columbine seedlings for you.

Sheila I looked at the Engel Mann daisies and don't see any side branching. Maybe they do that later in the season. Sorry.
Joe would you like to try Coreopsis basilis?

Dallas, TX

Steadycam - 4 o'clock seeds are yours. I did notice that the plants were coming back strong and was surprised b/c it seemed early. It did cross my mind that I might be able to dig one up. Will give it a try.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I have some that are hot pink and maybe a white one coming up. Are you interested?

Dallas, TX

Steadycam3 - No thank you on your kind offer of 4 o'clocks. However, do you still have a Blue Crown Passion flower to spare? If so, I would love one.

Frostweed - Do you have another Passiflora foetida to spare? If so, I would love one.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Cheryl.

Whoever asked for the 2 blackberries, I have them for you! (I'll re-read the thread in the morning when I'm not dog tired from work!)

Cheryl, I'm off to add your list to the thread's sticky.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Stephanie, dont forget to add StillPlaysWithDirt to the stickies.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

OK....here is my one post update for today (LOL)

TFC - scratch the seeds got it.

Steady - I have you down for Golden Groundsel, Rudbeckia, & Am Germander

SPWD - Cancelled the winecup, found a local gardening friend that has a bunch! Also, I don't want the Matelea Biflora MW, seems the Monarchs don't use it, but thanks.

Newtons3rd - Ok on Phlox for you, and thanks for checking on the E. Daisy!

Baja - Pretty sure I can bring you a small Flame Acanthus, do you have Brazilian Verbena & W TX Mistflower?

Anyone have False Nettle (Boehmeria cylindrica)? Yes, it is a weed but also a host plant for Red Admiral butterflies.
How about Green Milkweedvine (Matelea reticulata) for the Monarchs?

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Marty! Will get her added, too. (I thought I'd already done that, but obviously the brain isn't what it used to be! LOL)

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Sheila, do you have any more rudbeckia? I haven't seen mine this year. :(

Dallas, TX

ILJ99 - Bringing you coffee grounds.
Could you be more specific about Garden Art? Are you only wanting Bird Houses & Feeders? Or do you want funky Yard Art as well? I think I might have an extra tube feeder but have to hunt around to see if I still do.

ALL: Some of you want clay pots and I have said I will be bringing some. Need to know if ok to bring clay pots that have vertical hairline cracks in them?

ALL: Has anyone heard of a butterfly feeder? I saw one that was kinda disc shaped but didn't know if worth it.

ANBODY: seems like someone had flame acanthus and firespike. Who? And are there any left?

getting cross- eyed (sorry, not politically correct) going thru all of the lists.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

The easiest thing to do is to write down what you want from each person as you go through the thread.

Arlington, TX

Stephanie I have a seedling chocolate flower for you.

Sheila I have E. Daisy seed from last year and I will bring it for you.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh my!! I am so sorry, I am loosing track and I haven't posted anything, I guess I will just have to do a marathon reading and posting one of these days.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Joesphine thanks so much for the fig trees

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Cheryl, got your updated list marked. Thanks for the plants.

Good news! I've gotten most of the stuff from last year's RU planted!! LOL

Dallas, TX

Newtonsthirdlaw - I would love a Carolina phlox. However, since I am getting a JF Phlox, if someone else wants the Carolina Phlox, go ahead and let them have it. Don't want to be too phlox greedy. I still need to look up in the DG Garden files some of the others you have listed.

BTW, are you Cheryl?

Arlington, TX

Yes and take the phlox. I honestly don't have time to spend on trading. I hope to get rid of my plants in the next few days and whatever is left will go to a friend who has a large piece of land to fill and won't mind duplicates.

Dallas, TX

Josephine and Stephanie: Do either of you have an extra Passiflora foetida? If so, may I have one please?

Dallas, TX

N3rdLaw - Thanks for the Carolina phlox.

Steadycam - Do you have any of the blue crown passionflowers left? If so, may I have one?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

newtonsthirdlaw may I have
1 Salvia pentstemonoides
1 brazos penstemon
1 fame flower
1 rock rose (nice sized)

tx_flower_child
do you have another seedling of peach or salmon colored 4oclock

SPWD may I have 1 Opuntia Paddle or 2 spineless please? and a few Iris

I have a Hot lips salvia blooming so I won't need any of that thanks. I must have bought it at Lowe's last year.

Marty I would love to try some knockout roses. Maybe 1 or 2 of each?

covenantgarden do you need any more elderberry? I have one in a 3 gallon pot if you want it and maybe 2 smaller ones.

I can't remember who ask me what kind of garden art. I would love bird and hummingbird feeders, funky Yard Art, Bird houses anything to display in my yard. :)

Question when I run out of room very soon should I move and buy a bigger yard? I still want everything I see :P

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I will pot some Passiflora foetida for you.

Arlington, TX

How about 2 of each?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

That would be great newtonsthirdlaw

Does anyone have a Blackfoot daisy to trade?

I also have several maybe 5 Violet Ruellia Ruellia malacosperma if anyone wants one or 2 http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/38214/

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

cheryl, I like the cowpen daisies and some seed for the silver ironweed.

Arlington, TX

The 3 are yours steady as well as the seed. It is from my plant from last year. Not at all certain about how to sow or viability.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Tx Flowerchild, I found another passiflora and I have the firespike and flame acanthus. I'll put your name on them.

Thanks, Cheryl for the Cowpens. I never get any volunteers and they are outstanding when in bloom. I love them. I will do my research and figure out the ironweed.

Sandy, got you down for knock out roses.

Arlington, TX

Steady I am laughing at your post. Not cause I am mean but because they are such a pest in my yard I have basically banned cow pen daisy. I am not exaggerating when I say in one bed with good dirt I had 100,000's of seedlings this spring. It took me so many hours to pull them all out. I wonder why you don't get volunteers? I try to keep the spent flowers cut but last fall I was too busy to do anything and this spring I did suffer.
I wish I had taken a picture but it looked like I had planted cowpen daisy as a cover crop!
C

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I dont know why either because the bees just cover them up all season so I know they get pollinated.

Arlington, TX

A mystery then.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Cheryl, I'll take the cone flowers and the toad lily if no one else wants them.

Arlington, TX

They are yours.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Cheryl, on the Silene, I found californica seed but not greggii. Are you interested? The other one, I keep reading that it's banned as invasive weed so no seeds for sale.

Arlington, TX

No I think I am going to go with the Jack flash variety. The greggii is native to TX so I will take my chances with the "altered version". I actually just ordered seed for Jack flash.
