I did include seeds in the robin that were sent to me in advance by Juhur and FLsunshineGal.
I too, am interested in FREE BEER. :D
Um, I was reluctant to call myself the Seed Nazi in light of the obvious distasteful connotations. If you participated in the Fall Robin you may have seen that I posted a link to a Seinfeld episode about the "Soup Nazi" where the sole objective was to keep the line moving.
As in this episode, my role is to keep the Robin moving, hence I have posted RULZ and called people out a bit in the first round. if I offended folks, I had to say that I can't say I didn't warn you! I've been a member long enough for some of you old timers to know that I'm not REALLY a jerk. Not a really BIG jerk, anyway. But things in text can be taken out of context when you can't see someone's face or realize they are being sarcastic or mean . . . ...
I had more time when I started the Fall Robin. now I have less! Also - the RULZ seem to have helped keep things moving, even if I offended some. Oooops. I appreciate you all being proactive about keeping the bird moving along, especially as spring approaches and some of us (!!!) have not started ANYTHING from seed whereas Pam and WWK have plants that are 6" high already.
I am still hacking away at my thesis - don't ask me what the heck I'm talking about - so I'd better get back to it. i just wanted to check in.
Have a good night, and try not to get too deep into distasteful topics, Juhur.
As always, thanks for playing.

CLOSED: 2014 Spring Round Robin Seed Swap
Juhur7 Thanks! How about this? I should have the Robin tomorrow(hopefully) I 'll look and see if there is any, if not you can send them later. If there are some in there,I'll get a few and you can just add those back to the Robin when you get it. Will that work for you? germination is tricky with peppers, I had some TAM peppers(heatless Jalepeno) and they also had a low germination rate. Maybe they like warmer weather? Have you tried using a heat mat with them?
This message was edited Mar 15, 2014 11:23 PM
Yes Nanny ,, all good ,
Those I have are under a photo spot bulb . They have all the heat they want , it comes within about being five degrees of being too hot for Marigolds .
I have Four plants this evening , 12 or 14 seeds got me the ones I have ..
Thank you for hosting Amanda 😁 im glad you took the reigns from Susie. I know you have been terribly busy and really appreciate you taking over. This is much better arranged than anything I could have done..
I was set up!!!
But I was honored to take on dj's swap.
I still have to ship the door prize, but I want to keep it!!! :D
post edited for content, you know like they do in the movies? : ) What I meant to say was that if the Robin was scheduled to land today she is still circling somewhere. So I hope there was no misdirecting of mail. I am a little paranoid about the mail service around here. My mail is always getting lost and it is a sore subject I am afraid. I have nothing against the US postal system except I cannot tolerate the constant mishandling of my mail. So if I sounded a little harsh, there is good reason. Anyway, I will check again come Monday. So if the HOST would be so kind as to let me know the status of Ms. Robin, I would appreciate it. Thank you kindly.

I don't mean to sound impatient, but I have found it necessary to track packages before and the sooner you get a handle on it, the better the outcome. If it was scheduled for delivery for Monday instead of today, that's fine. I go to the Post Office every day (for work) so it's no big deal since I am going anyway. But if tracking shows it was already delivered...OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!! As the Queen of Hearts would say!
ps. I have an ongoing war with my mail carrier, to put it bluntly...she's an idiot! My mailbox has 4 " tall numbers and she still can't seem to get my mail in the correct box...ARGH!

Amanda..has time to use offense terms over and over again on this thread..but doesnt have time to give her input on the Greensboro round up thread CarolinaFlower8 started since apparantly Amanda is to busy..you planning on making the Late Grand Entrance this coming year like last year Amanda?
Ps..is this a Comedy Thread or a WWII History Thread?..for some reason i thought this was a ''Gardening forum''..for ''Gardening threads and Topics''..
Well most of it is Gardening , that is . however , I'm guilty , But I was still talking seeds and trades ..
Nanny , mail hardly ever moves to expected . either , faster or slower , Depending on season and mail load . It will show .
As for me , I keep trying to read only but seem to have to play say , only then , I never really have been as right to things as I should be, lol only having a bit of fun ..
I'm hoping it gets a little warmer soon , it's nicer but ,,, it's still cold !!!

I think it might be a good idea for the HOST or the shipper, to send the tracking number by dmail (or whatever means the HOST deems appropriate) to the next person expecting the shipment, as soon as it ships ,because in the event that Robin goes MIA, they will be in a better position to find the missing Robin. It is difficult enough to try find a lost package WITH a tracking number, but darn near impossible WITHOUT one!
Also it gives the recipient an edge, knowing exactly when the shipment will arrive. Someone once said "It is better to be proactive than reactive". Just a suggestion.
Usually these packages arrive pretty much when the USPS says they will. Whenever I ship anything I track it daily, to make sure it ends up at the correct location in a timely manner. I have had more than one incoming package that was delivered to the wrong box/person. One of which was never recovered at all. Luckily that one was replaced by the company I ordered from, but somewhere in this town, someone has a bedspread and curtains that they did not pay for! I really despise dishonesty! I will step down off my soapbox now. Anyone else care to take up where I left off?
:)
Nanny I have had to chase down a few packages , and credit cards with that are Nightmare . When it happens that way ,
As far as honesty and the thread , If you (anybody) gets any seeds from me that fail to grow (I hope not , their usually good) But I replace the seeds , (all I can do ) but anyone goes through potting and planting and that cannot be made up for (it happens to me rarely ) That as to this is about as honest as I can stay .
It can do that or be that too I guess .. oh well . Here's hoping still it shows ..
This message was edited Mar 15, 2014 11:42 PM
My reference to dishonesty was directed at the person who accepted the package that didn't belong to them, not anyone on this site. Maybe I am a little bit of a control freak when it comes to shipping and receiving. I used to do that for a living, lol.
You really could not blame someone if the seeds you got from them did not grow...there are millions of reasons seeds don't grow, too many variables. Everyone I have dealt with here at DG have been great, no complaints here.

I have gotten wrong address packages , and given them back to post office , or returned them to same or one of my neighbors myself.
I did not think you were saying anyone here was being dishonest ,
Most folks here are patient as long as you give it chance ..
We all have the "control freak" syndrome to some degree . At least I get that also ..Not often anymore though , I let go ....

Hi MN :) Glad to see your back also :)
it's a sad sad day :( storm with high winds is comming thru and as of about an hour ago greenhouse and everything in it has blown into the wind.. :(sad thing is radar showed it all above us.. so a couple hundred seedlings and seeds r in my yard neighbors yard..:( will have to wait till tomorrow prob to see if anything is salvagable .. will however give me an excuse to spend all day plantng seeds again tomorrow or next day..and rebuilding greenhouse... will def have to have more anchors
OH NO!!!! That is my worst nightmare, every time we have high winds or a bad storm!
So sorry Garry, I have had mine damaged by wind but nothing as devastating as yours. The wind is really bad up on this hill that I live on, so I am always afraid I will come home or get up in the morning after a windstorm to find the greenhouse has sailed into the next county. I get very nervous when the wind cranks up.
So sorry about your greenhouse. We had a little wind last week and I had my worries. My plastic is getting old and one good tear and it would be all over. It's getting warm here and what little rain we got this year is probably the last of it. I've already put tomatoes and melons in the greenhouse and today I have some cucumbers to go in. I'm doing Okra for the first time this year, that's exciting, but I need to clear an area out in the sun for them.
Yes that is ashame about the Greenhouse ,
Seems the wind blows all the time , but , as soon as you start using something , That has resisted the wind for what seems like always Bam , the winds takes it apart .
Brings to mind Bungee Cords or supports wired to concrete blocks , if I try one (greenhouse )
Seems sometimes everything is okay , until you start using them . Tools and various items are like that also .. One of those "it is that way" kind of things .
Too many Negative Vibes this past season ..lol
My greenhouse is bolted down to a 12'x36' wooden deck and has hurricane straps over the top,and it still rattles and moans when the wind gets up. The structure itself is suppose to withstand 80 mph winds, but I am a little doubtful about that claim. She did survive 60 mph, but lost one roof vent in the process. I would not want to test it at 80 mph!
LOL ?(Questionaire for greenhouse) I would not even want to drive at 80 all that long anymore!!!
I was not implying anything bad at any of you and I thank you for the Wooden Frame? bolted down unto info ..
If I use lightweight material in a window frame I was thinking about adding extra screws to wire each frame for extra strength and stability , Of course 60 mph or more (tornado force winds ) even some homes hardly withstand that , So there is really not much more one can do with lightweight structures .. That and most plastics , eventually break .. That has gotten better at times over the course of decades.
Of course having to redo things is a pain , !
When the wind speed gets up to 80mph I will be in the basement and the greenhouse is on it's own!!!! I don't even like to stay out there when the wind is 25-30 mph. it pops and cracks & makes a lot of noise! The key to those structures being able to withstand the wind is that they will move somewhat like a building built to withstand an earthquake or a skyscraper. Still it is very unsettling to be inside of with all that going on.
Well hey, I sense sarcasm and a little meanness up there "themikesmom." The fact is that I asked Dawn to start the planning for the Greensboro Round Up because I am finishing my master's degree thesis and cannot take the time away.
Last year I hosted 4 or 5 overnight guests in my home, and we could not leave the house without them. That made us late for lunch. You must have been very disturbed to come over to this thread and hunt me down!
Nanny - I'll track the package today.
Garry - how awful. :/
Susie - your comments are always welcome. This IS your round robin swap.
Later.

Edited to say: p.s. If anyone has a problem with me (!?) feel free to contact me directly. Else, I will ask Admin to admonish people from slander and libel on this thread or any other. Thank you.

Im alive, lurking, and waiting :) Just checking in!
Garry- Thats Horrible! :(
THE ROBIN HAS LANDED! Got it just now! I Can't wait to see what is in there! But I have to work first :(
Amanda -It did say on the label "Expected Delivery 3/15/2014" but it is here now, so I guess I can cancel the "hit-man" that was I was going to hire to go after the mail carrier! lol But I will keep his number handy in case anyone else on the route has an issue with USPS ;)
Okay thanks - I just logged on to post that it says the box was delivered. I'm glad the postal carrier is the one who was going to get the hit man...
A.
Edited to say - we're getting another ice storm today! :(
This message was edited Mar 17, 2014 1:25 PM
Have fun Nanny!
Amanda- No,no hit man coming after you, it's the Mail carrier that I have a problem with!
O NO! More Ice??? This is like the science fiction movie "Day after Tomorrow" where the polar ice caps shifted...It's just plain NUTS.
That Robin and this weather sure are a slippery thing !!!
I don't even want to think the other ,,
Lmk me later Nanny about the seeds we talked about ,, Enjoy ,
and Excuse me but ; OH BOY !!! I'm Next !!!^_^
Second , third , fourth and etc , No more ICE ,, Goodness ,,
Besides, it would be very bad etiquette to put a contract out on the HOST.
Question for said HOST, or anyone else who is familiar with how this works. If I add items to the side trade packet am I then supposed to log them on the list and the recipient then initials to verify receipt of those items?
Mipii- Thanks! I will have fun and pretty soon you will, too!
Juhur7- I did look for the hyacinth beans- None in the Robin, unless I overlooked them. I will put some in for you. You also requested German Chamomile,Purple Ruffles Basil, and Drama Queen Poppy? All these will go in the side trade bag with your name on them.
Domehomedee, I am sending you some birdhouse gourd seed per your request.
I am going back to play in the seed box some more!
Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
