Best/Worse/what did I learn today!chat with friends old/new

Verona, ON

Sending positive thoughts and prayers for both you and Norm. I know all too well as do many here how hard it is to sit there and wait.

Miserable day here. Foggy, rainy, black ice on the roads and snow forecasted for later in the day.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

Oh Dianne that is not a good forecast as all. My late SIL and brother were in an accident on black ice many, many years ago and sadly it left her with serious brain damage. Scary mess.

Stay in, love the dog boys and please be safe!

so we now add the inner bag into the outer bag

NOTE..you will be seeing batting both in front of your piece and inside

Depending how wide you want your straps you can cut the width of fabric anywhere from 5" to 7"

I cut mine 7", folded it and pressed then folded the fabric edges toward center fold

for the 7" wide strip once folded then folded again I cut 1 1/2" batting and inserted it lengthwise under one of the flaps..folded it and sewed 1/8th inch along both sides of the strip then cut in half, now have 2 straps

am I making sense???? lol

almost done, am sure many are saying 'thank the Lord'

now comes the fun part

Photo 1: putting your hand into the opening, gently pull the good side of the bags out

Photo 2: you should end up with this

Photo 3: push the inside bag into the outer bad

almost there Liz..

now comes time to sew the opening ..straight stitch across the entire bag top

I bought large buttons when at Joann's, rather than sew it on I used embroidery floss as I used the floss to ancher top to bottom

didn't have cording this morning or time to show you how I anchored it so took a bag out that I had finished so you could see how to finish it.

used 1 1/2 yards of light cording and a toggle for drawstring

really push the corners into themselves so they are nice and crispt

with a darning needle and floss I pushed the needle from the inside corner, through outside corner then back in through same corner, cut and tied..did this to the remaining corner peaks..use co-ordinating color of floss, not noticeable but saves you having the inside bag coming out from the outer bag..then along the middle seam I tie in a few places..nice and secure

One last post..

when Rita got up before 6am she saw my bed was already made so came downstairs to see what I was up to, think her adrenalin was working overtime as well, excited about purchase of her home..

so didn't she start working on her quilt

this week I managed to get 4 bags done and 2 no sew fleece blankets

see in my stash here that I might be able to squeeze in 1 more black/white tote bag then that is it for the bags..done so many these past few years that I can do them with my eyes closed

here goes, machine out and see what I can get done with the last of the black/white pieces
