Depending how wide you want your straps you can cut the width of fabric anywhere from 5" to 7"

I cut mine 7", folded it and pressed then folded the fabric edges toward center fold

for the 7" wide strip once folded then folded again I cut 1 1/2" batting and inserted it lengthwise under one of the flaps..folded it and sewed 1/8th inch along both sides of the strip then cut in half, now have 2 straps

am I making sense???? lol
