Bright, sunny but frigid day out there.
Got up around 4 am and started my day with not 1 but 2 double chocolate cookies. Got an inkling of how I am feeling today? Have done next to nothing all day.except read. I did move in some extra wood so if the winter storm we are being warned about actually happens I will be warm. Oh and I did vacuum. Had to clean up before the cleaning lady gets here tomorrow.
I was such a 'bad' girl my mam used to tell me she brought home the wrong baby from the hospital. Wouldn't ya know I ended up a Behavioural consultant. lol Had lots of experience from my walks on the wild side so I could identify with the kids.
How is Shane feeling now Debbie? Any relief from his dental pain?
Oh Thunder your grandbaby is delightful.
Did anyone happen to watch 48 Hours on Sat night? They had a 2 hour show focusing on 3 school bands from New Orleans. It was great so if you missed it and can get a chance please do so.... you won't be disappointed. The show made me think of our Mary and her son's involvement in band.
Need to find something for dinner. My mouth says I want a Shrimp Po'or boy but I thibk salad will win out.
Dianne
Best/Worse/what did I learn today!chat with friends old/new
Wind is up Dianne, not calling for bad weather for me this week, will miss those snowdays for sure. Hope it misses you, you certainly have had your share this year.
Caring for chocolate so you must need comfort food.
Missed 48 hours but will certainly go check to see if I can find it 'on demand'..
Cannot see you Dianne as a rebel?? Think the devil is in most of us right? Lol
Seeing as Rita made ham/eggs and ome fries only right I get supper..luckily I'm getting off easy, took last bag of spaghetti and meatballs out of freezer, not much work to that.
I just got to smile, You would be proud of her you who sew.
For a gal that is just learning talk about catching on..the quilt she wanted to do really was an oversized throw so she played with the pattern, figured out what she needs for a queen, read and re-read and is now comfortable with cutting.
I have finishing touches to put on the 3 totes I made so can sit and watch a show, told her I'm as close as a call should she need me!

granny shes good she didnt want to talk to me last week,
i had to force questions on her to get a nod or i dont know
just sad, she loved to talk and talk.
wish they could cure dementia ;(
"M" I haven't had coffee since Feb. 1st...part of my preparation and cutting out sugar. They said 2 weeks before...so I just quit. Headaches haven't been fun....but a few motrin help.
Shane is still trying to find dental help, and hopefully Shannon will somehow push him and help out with that. Gosh, I am just not happy with this situation.....but honest, I feel better with her NOT here.
We are not walking on egg shells as much...only when DH is home.
Trust me...Dianne has a twinkle in her eye....I know she was a rowdy one! hahaha
And she sure can keep those two big dogs in line O:)
Going to be a long day tomorrow....so heading to bed.
OH Betty, that is not the rooster I was thinking....the one I saw was stained glass with light inside.
That is very pretty. I do have a gift card...might need to go look.
Off to bed. Good night.
Those are nice bags Betty.Amazing how much fabric it takes to make one!
Liz,, sorry to hear about your Granny! Never easy to deal with Alzheimer.
Betty, the iPad auto correct can be frustrating to say the least!
Morning everyone,
NOT snowing yet but the sky is dark and heavy so might get some before days end!
Debbie good luck with the tests today..careful driving
Barb, we're you able to get out this weekend?
Thunder will get dimensions for you..easier taking photo's and leading you through them via notes and photo's..ok with that?
Was up early, very early lol. Worked on brown tote bag to see what fabric I am missing to finish it, had 7 rows of a tree skirt pinned, got them sewn, 2 more to go and another will be done.
Taking a fleece no sew kit with me today for something to do, Lordy don't feel I've had a long weekend.
Hope you are all out of storms way.
My iPad drives me crazy so more often than not I use the PC. I ALWAYS proofread if I use it.
It would truly be fantastic if there were some way to prevent Alzhiemer. Or to at least lessen the symptoms.
Love the pictures Betty. Love your new treasures. Rita is getting really brave and that is just wonderful....
Not sure what I'll be working on today. Yesterday I cleaned house so today I can play!!!
Norm got me a new keypad (first one in about 10 years) and I'm having a time getting used to the "feel" of it. I really need to proofread here now too. LOL
Edited to add: Yes I did get out on Sunday to Walmart and now I'm thinking I should have stayed home. Chest is a bit congested which I surely do not need.
We are due to get another 4-8 inches of snow today starting around noon and going through the evening. All the schools are either closed or on early release. They are trying to get at least 3.5 hours in so it is credited as a day with school. Snow days are adding on at the end of the year and the way things are goin these kids will have no summer vacation!!!!
How are things going up there in the far North "M"? Are you still swimming? And is Lorna getting ready for her job? Think of you often.
Dianne, it is great to see you post more often and know that your hydro is on!!!! You have been hit really hard this winter between the cold and the snow. I keep you and your family in my prayers every day.
Off to see what I want to get into....Waving to all.~~~~~

No sooner did I start to head to Barrie did the snow blow in..quite stormy..keep saying to myself maybe this is the last of it, wishful thinking for sure.
Barb, I asked Rita how late she stayed up, said 11pm
She is on a mission now lol Problem is she didn't account (nor did I) on making it queen vs large throw..she will go on-line and see if she can order the white, light grey she picked..drats..she bought double of everything else but not that.
Budding, looks good!
Great temps LindaKay.
Still snowing, think I might have a nap, eyes getting heavy lol
Pockets of Plenty
2 yards of drawstring cord and toggle
1/4 yd of fabric or Fat Quarter for Drawstring Closure Fabric (this creates a flap that can be drawn up tight to hold contents in)
2 yards fleece (they use fusible fleece but I use regular and use spray adhesive)
1/4 yard to handle
1/2 yard for lining - cut 2 pieces 20 1/2 x 16 1/2
1/2 yard for body of bag-cut 2 pieces 20 1/2 w x 16 1/2 h
OR
I use 5" squares - sew 5 together for width and 4 rows across for
depth..Makes the bag a couple of inches bigger than directions that will be given. (make 2-front/back)
buttons (I bought extra large one at Joann's..was $9.95 but was on 75% off
*** WILL MEASURE INSIDE POCKETS AND FRONT POSCKETS WHEN I GET HOME and add to this supply list
15* here right now and the snow is just starting. 4-7 inches and we usually get on the high side. Hope Norm doesn't work too long today.
yikes, lots of snow for sure!
Betty it IS snowing here and has been since about 4 am. It wasn't snowing when I went to bed at 2am but was when I got up at 4 am. Called my cleaning lady to cancel.... darn but I wouldn't risk her safety on the lane. And if I wouldn't drive out it to pick her up at the end of the lane I sure don't expect her to drive down. I told her I would pay her for this week even though she didn't come .... money is pretty tight for her family right now. Of course she said no so I will have to find some way to trick her into taking it. All school buses in the area are cancelled and probably again tomorrow. The lane hasn't been plowed yet and it was a dicey drive already. The lane is like a mile long luge run. Heaven help you if you meet someone when you are coming in or out.Thankfully there are so few of us who stay year round you can sort of time when to go out.
I have a crisis here - I can't find my hidden stash of chocolate. I keep some hidden for days like this!
Barb hope you are not coming down with something. Do you get the pneumonia shot as well as the flu shot? Due to my use of puffers my doc makes me get both.
LK do you have to worry about the emerald ash bores that we have devastating our trees here. This frigid temp is helping kill off several bad insects and is also keeping the wood ticks at bay. For that I am thankful. The ash bores are turning into a threat like the Gypsy moth was in the 80's.
Debbie I have to keep these boys under control or I wouldn't stand a chance. lol Hope you get to enjoy your day out.... be good to yourself.
Susan how goes the battle? Bob still enjoying his new job?
Hope the weather cooperates on Fri as I have to drive into Kingston for an MRI on my noggin. At least they are letting me have the MRI at a clinic near the outskirts of Kingston so I don't have to drive all the way downtown and fight for a parking space.
Crissy how is your arm doing? Hope it is healing so you can get back to being the Crissy we all know and love.
Marion your Valentine's Day sounded wonderful. You are so fortunate to have such a loving family. Someone must of done a great job in raising them, right???
Time to change the wash over. Thank goodness I vacuumed in anticipation of the cleaning come so the floors don't look half bad. Duke is really blowing his coat and add to that Diesel's Streak's and Sassy's fur I am positive I get enough hair in a couple of days to spin and knit a sweater. When I had my Sammies a friend who is a spinner used to come and get their fur when I groomed them. She used the undercoat and by golly one day when she was over wearing a sweater that had their fur knitted into it Tundra and Ana would not leave her alone.
Stay safe and warm everyone.
Dianne
We have a Wool Arts Tour here every fall and there is a lady who holds her angora rabbit on her lap and pulls his fur (gently of course) and spins it as he sits there!!!! The yarn is sooooo soft. And when he has had enough, she puts him down and picks up his brother and keeps going! It fascinated me.
Dianne, the ribbon of snow must have left "M" and travelled south east towards you, 'tis snowing here but not enough for a snow day! Bet that sweater was a warm one..nicest sweater I ever had was one I made from mohair, loved it, set it somewhere never to be found again..often thought of buying some lama wool and make another but likely would have to put a mortgage on the house to afford the wool.
Am sure it's hard when you do cleaning and depend on the income and it gets cancelled..although she says no likely she means yes please..perhaps you can include an extra chore when she comes next week then can pay her for today's missed cleaning. Kind of you for sure. Ouch, no chocolates, best you stock up when you are out Friday.
Finished a flannel blanket now I'm looking around for something else to do.
Now Barb there is something we could join in, Midhurst is having their show some time next month, always enjoy seeing their art as well..
Other craft I'd love to do is pottery , using the wheel.
Done ceramics, porcelain and fired kilns for everyone and would love to take something new on..
what would you all like to take on????
Oh I have chocolate Betty I just don't know where I hid it from myself. lol
Dianne, we don't have that nasty bug in Texas that I know of. Sounds like a very invasive type of bug?
Hope you f ind your chocolate soon!
I've done ceramics, porcelain and stained glass. most of the needle arts, not good at painting so will stick with sewing what I still can. Miss making all the frilly little girls things, but I guess it's OK they don't wear them so much anymore. I even went all over the dresses I made in the past, whitened them back up and refreshed ribbon elastics, starched and pressed and still they just sat and didn't even get tried on for a picture. Siiiigghhh.
I have never done ceramics or pottery. I don't think there is a place here that teaches it?
I did ceramics for about four years .. My daughter still has some of my pieces...
Afternoon everyone. In the mid 70s and loving every second of it!!!
Had an appointment with Neurologist today only to be told I need surgery. I have according to him "severe" nerve problems in both elbows as well as tendon issues and carpal tunnel yet again. My left hand is much worse with major muscle loss. I was given a list of things I should not be doing at this time and it sure is good I got it today instead of last week. Climbing ladders is on the list and guess what , I wallpapered a room over the weekend thus up and down. Oh well it is done so now I can proceed with getting the nerve issue resolved.
Just another hurdle in the game of life...but glad to now know what is causing the problems. Wahoo!! When this is corrected I should be able to sew with out so much pain and problems.
Had fun, was always a surprise surprise when you opened the kiln..
Rita put a final offer on the place she wanted and was to hear at 3pm..keep waiting for a call to let me know how she did..would be mean wouldn't it to say I don't want her to get it want her to stay with me??? yes it would and really I do hope she gets it.
know she will be back, needs sewing lessons lol
Fingers crossed for Rita.
Marion when will your surgery take place and where? Going to be difficult to follow all those rules I am sure. I know it is not in your nature to keep still.
Pups and I played in the snow for awhile. The both love to do the snowplow thing. Duke is like greased lightening. We toshed out to the mailboxes. Its a mile out and I was enjoying myself - forgot how bitter cold it would be on the way back. The wind is howling so it was making the snow pelt my face. Felt like there were mini daggers in the snow falling.
Has Ann given you an update on the twins lately?
Dianne
Finished another tree skirt. This one is a giant dahlia. Sondra , Mojo Quilter, had a great tutorial on this . I had bought a book but hers was much easier to understand. Once I got the dahlia put together I was kind of making it up as I went. She had a nicer center but I didn't do it, you really don't see the center on a tree skirt. I added the ruffle because it was smaller than I wanted. Thank goodness I have a ruffler for my machine.
Love the tree skirt Karen. Lucky person who will be receiving this.
Dianne, no date has been set as I need to go back to my Primary doctor who will recommend who I see next. Not a really involved procedure from what I was told but the recovery time was a bit more. It will just be wonderful to not have the tingling, soreness and actually lose of feeling taken care of so I can get on with things I so want to do.
I am so glad you were able to get outside with the boys today...cabin fever can be horrible. Did you find the chocolates? Sounds like something I would do...put them up for safe keeping and forget where that place was.
Marion, although surgery isn't anything one looks forward to I'm sure you just want to get back to 'life' without all the pain. Hoping there is no long waiting list...any reason for it??
Karen, LOVE the tree skirt, wow you did a great job...are all tree skirts similar or all different pattterns? thought you would have received your box today!
Katie, any chocolate in that mailbox of yours, deserve to have some there after the long walk..not so sure I'd be making the trek until the snow melts. Stopped snowing here, hope the storm is quick moving and tomorrow you'll have sunshine.
Guess you've enjoyed the Olympics seeing as you haven't been able to get outside much!
Hoping the wait isn't too long..bet Kim is relieved to finally know what has been causing you so much distress..the not knowing is the worse.
I don't think it will be a long waiting period. Yes, Kim will be relieved.....thank goodness she has been around as I have not been able to do quite a few things lately. The doctor doesn't see any reason things should not improve greatly once the surgery has been done.
Even more grateful I managed to get all the wallpaper hung first.
I can sure understand being grateful having someone around..today has been a difficult day, can't get comfy and pain free so quite understand going home and having someone in the house should we need them gives us a sense of comfort.
Just spoke to Greg,he is dropping in tonight.
Said he was going to explain about where he is going and the purpose..he flies to Labrador but will drive home..Not taking his machine, has a racer waiting for him..took it out all day yesterday to get the hang of it..they do 3,000 miles, no trails, they break the trails..said he'd give me the website so I can keep an eye on him..I do believe they are being tracked by satelite.
Then spoke with Sharon, she is not a happy camper..her dog is pregnant - 3 pups but one is dead...she has never had problems before, just doesn't understand it! Not same dog being bred nor same father.
Most are different. I have repeated a couple patterns but changed colors. This is only one I will make in this pattern. Have 8 done now and two more almost done. Six of the grands have theirs.. Others will get them as they either marry or set up housekeeping. Getting in the order they are made so whoever is next will get this one and next after that the Dresden plate. It's done except for a bit of quilting. Stuck on what I want to do with it. Hard for me to do a pattern so it won't be too fancy what ever I decide. After that are a couple of the patchwork ones and six more after that.
We didn't have mail yesterday because of holiday and hasn't gone yet today.
Marion I sure hope you will have relief soon. Just be sure you don't try to rush the recovery. Let it all heal properly.
It's Dianne treking through the snow seeking chocolate. I'm in Mexico wearing a t-shirt - that's all.
Going through wheat withdrawl.
hugs, katie
Lucky you Katie, think between you and LindaKay you've the best weather of all, we should all pack our beds and come visit..if only that we're possible.
Herd this morning on the news that Canada is signing with Mexico to allow a lot more direct flights into Mexico..
I bought a pattern for Dresden tree skirt, must take a closer look at it, like you I've only a few more to do
Already had my bath, meds and in bed..Greg said he would come visit tonight but he will have to shuffle his way to my bedroom.
Rita gave a 3:00pm take it or leave it offer and didn't get a reply..she is very disappointed.
Sorry she did not get the offer. Just tell her there is a better home for her.
Will do..Greg dropped in, gave me a bit more info re his trip to Labrador
Don't know I'd he should have lol
Told me march 1 I will be able to key team 7 in and follow him through the race
A bit of info on it

It was a really long day....
New mammograms are something....but still not comfortable. I got the high-tech business today.
They found areas of concern in both...so...I promptly got put on a "lump alert" and was assigned a patient adviser and my 40 minute appointment turned into 3 hours.
Mammograms and then..into an ultrasound lab...and then a doctor. Turns out right now, they are all cysts. (Thank you God) but I have been through the ringer...and it felt like and old fashioned washing machine ringer!!!
This all flared up the PTSD from my Mom and issues...and they want me to have genetic counseling because of the family history of cancer on both sides. Lots to weigh pro's and cons'.
SO....after 3 hours of that, and snowing when I got out....there was no shopping or "me time". I might go out tomorrow....depending.
Debbie
