Ick!
weather in the garden #136
yesterday's snow is now gone
I still have some lingering in the shady corners...hopefully, it will melt today. Should be 50 & sunny.....
snow gone here - between it and the cold some of the early blooming bulbs have wilted
yes, daff stems were not happy from the weight of the snow. flowers look ok though. 35°
My daffodils are picking up their heads and looking beautiful again, even though it is 44 degrees .
It's still pretty.
This am once again there is frost on the ground, no snow anymore. Overnight low was 28F. It's already 34 so soon the rugs can come off of the perennial boxes.
Partly cloudy, temp should once again be around 50......my daffs never picked their heads up again! Pam, should melt by Sat. when temps are somewhat warmer!
41° overcast. Thinking about showers.
65 and sunny
Sunny & 60.....a beautiful spring day!
Up to 59°
Gorgeous day, most of the snow is gone. I found eyes on several peonies while raking out the beds today. :-)
Yes, here, too! Should be sunny & 60 today....tomorrow I have an order of plants to get into the soil.......geum, delph, echium among them......
only 48° Peonies have a couple inches length to the stems. Must get new supports.
I got some peony supports to try from Lee Valley through mail order. They have to be assembled though.
I think I can get them at the local garden center. they have things like that.
The ones from Lee Valley are much sturdier. Mine are all bent after only a couple of years. Also, Lee Valley has choices of longer legs, which should help with my older clumps.
Frosty morning, but should be around 65 today......
Yesterday was in the high 55 s I prune and feed my roses, planted potatoes, carrotsl ,bok Choy
and transplanted my winter sowed lettuce.Oh Boy that was a lot for a retiree in one day.
I saw a good idea for peony supports that I will try with a few of mine - pound in three 4' pieces of rebar and tie string back and forth creating a star like design. My three largest peony always fall over so I will test this with them.
That sounds very interesting. It shouldn't be very noticeable once it weathers. I guess you leave the rebar in place, and just re-string every year? I just invested in a bunch of grids and legs from Lee Valley. They are way more sturdy than the standard ones. Have you ever tried them?
upper 70's today
Was up to 62 today and transplanted my beets, sowed cosmos and sunflower seeds . Cleaned up on of my sunny garden bed.I enjoyed the beautifull weather today.
Another warm sunny day today. Frost is expected midweek, though, so the plant babies are staying put until next weekend at least.
56° hazy sun into the 60s today We both have our yearly eye exam this morning. So glad that the hanging pine branch (section of trunk?) is down.
You've been busy, Cytf! I weeded today in 70 degree temps.....raining now.
Just came in from my walk.....way different from yesterday.....45, cloudy, windy.....ugh!
53° & light rain. Person in Lexington was struck by lightning but that is 45 min drive away from here when the roads are not too crowded.
Gosh when was that? I'll read it in the local paper tomorrow. Before 9 am my dog was hyperventillating, so I waited a little longer to drive 60 miles in the pounding rain for a job assignment. There was a fifteen minutes period of very loud lightening strikes. Rain continued for the next hour and a half. Patches of occasional sunshine now and the overnight low prediction has been modified from freezing to about F40.
Robindog I could not resist such beautiful days ,we will be getting rain on Friday. Was 53 degrees this morning I cut back the Montauk Daises today and watered my veggies.
Need to cut back my Montauks as well! No lightning here, but the wind is just awful....another day lost outside!
44 and cloudy
54° but strong winds make it feel colder.
High today was 53, low during the week, 30.9. The Daffs are coming up 1 millimeter at a time. Everything else looks the same as last week.
Ahead of you here, Pam.......daffs are in full bloom......less wind today, high of 58.....garden is being tilled in a few minutes......
We could use a new thread if anyone knows how to start one....rainy & 40 here....may end as sleet or snow....lovely.
I don't know how to start it. 45° light rain all day.
