SWEET INTERUPTIONS 278

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

My sister is flying back to Minnesota on Monday; sure hope they can fly into the Twin Cities airport. She is going to miss the warm California weater, but no matter what it is always nice to get back home. Since they live in town house now with no basement their floors are heated. She said it is so nice on the bare feet.

In the 70's here and temps going up. One weatherman said something about rain, but everyone is waiting to see if that happens. Don't know if I mentioned it, but our govenor is putting us in emergency water drought. Even if we get rain now and it goes through Feb. we will still be in a drought. We are always in a drought, but guess some years are worse than others.

Well, I intend to start on cleaning office today....................

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Bertie did fine with her surgery. Thanks for your prayers!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad to hear that Joyce.
Hope you get some rain Pegi.
Moderation is the key to all of it Susan. You do not need to totally eliminate all these things from Bob's diet. Just need to be more mindful and serve the good stuff more. His numbers will drop.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

it has been too long too cold around here !! usually only cold for a few days at a time, then back up...but not this year. and you would think with all this cold all the germs would die!!! but there are record numbers of people sick with viruses, and infections !! yuck !! my next electric bill is gonna be a doozy !!

supposed to get to 68 today that would be heavenly !!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Going to be another "trying" to get my office in shape day. It seems I'm not making a dent in any of my clutter.

Jaye, I hope you are feeling better. This is suppose to be a healthy year, but doesn't sound like it.

Can't even seem to get out and check on my plants, now that is being LAZY! Did dig out a couple of large dusty miller plants from in front. They sure can grow out of control. Don't know what I will plant there yet, in anything.. Full of snails too and I so hate them.

I always figured that Florida was such a warm state that is why people go there to retire. I'll be happy to send anyone some of our warm weather.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

At this point, I'd be happy to have some warm anywhere. I have my coat on even though the furnace is working just fine. With our temps in the minus numbers, it just doesn't get very warm.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope it gets warm for you soon! Come on spring!!!

I am back home, and I had a wonderful time!

I found a bunch of kid fabrics for the Conker Cancer project, but still looking for a soft yellow to use for the background for my blue dresden plates. I went to hobby lobby and Joann's, and yellow is a scarce color for some reason.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Just the right yellow can be so hard to find, I remember many many years ago I wanted the perfect soft yellow for our bedroom. Fortunately my FIL was a house painter and decorator of such a vintage that he mixed his own paint colors. He made the most beautiful soft yellow for me, I've never seen the like since. The thing is yellow is NOT one of my favorite colors and I can't even remember anymore why I thought I needed that color. I had just given birth to our oldest daughter and FIL was so smitten with her that he bought me a lovely necklace (which I've since given to her) and was determined to mix just the perfect color for me.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Aw, Karen, that's the sweetest story.

Cooked lasagna for Bertie and her guys today. Finished out the meal with 7 layer salad, yeast rolls and Rum cake. Took her a loaf of pumpkin bread, too. Hope they can get at least a couple of meals from it.

Got up to almost 40* today and tomorrow it will be well below 0*! Yikes!

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Yum joycet I am going to make lasagna monday. Been so hungry for it. With some garlic bread and maybe a salad. I painted our living room a beautiful yellow a couple years agao. Just love it. When the sun shines it really glows and is so welcoming. Love it. Linda glad you are home and had a wonderful visit. Yes, I am going to be able to go to the hospital with my dad when he has his surgery. I guess they re saying a very small spot so hopefully they will get all of the cancer out and all will be good. Bless him.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

unbelievable day today..... Bob wasn't feeling up to going to Church and singing in the choir, and I didn't feel like being away from him for hours, worrying about him.
So, I stayed home. After service, I knew I had to go to the church and pick up some decorations from there, so take home and also to someone else's home. Thought it would be a good idea to have help.
There were leftovers being given out, from last night, so I got lots. That, plus the "take out" I got for him for last night - we had tickets for the dinner, and he didn't feel like going then, either (and for a Scot to not go to a Robbie Burns dinner...... well!!).
Then, after the Fellowship, after the service, our accountant said "have something for you, to help tide you over"..... asked me to open the envelope after I got home........ it was $600!!!!
We are so blessed.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad you can be with your dad during surgery!

Susan, that was so nice of your accountant! You truly are Blessed!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I'm still in shock...........the church accountant & her hubby (the Church Board chair) are really sweet people....

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

Susan, you do so much for your church, that I'm sure everyone feels they want to help. So blessed indeed!!

Had to look all over the my cell phone, I had the old one on the charger and not knowing it was the old one. Couldn't understand why I couldn't get any service, duh. DH has a bad habit of keeping everything, so he has a box with old phones & chargers in it. I had put it in the garage and wouldn't you know I put the working phone with them and somehow it fell out of the box. Checked the floor by the box and lo and behold there was my phone. I may have to hang it around my neck. LOL

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

lol Pegi - glad you found your "current" phone!! (get the joke?)
I'm not "doing" for the church for returns, but I am getting the returns, anyway.....

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

Susan that was a wonderful gift. Very much needed I am sure.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Wonderful Susan. People usually do come through when the need is greatest.....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

You have a lot of people praying for you and Bob, Susan. God does indeed answer prayers.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Susan we all know and love you and I'm sure your church does too. They know you are "doing" out of the goodness of your heart without expecting a return. Isn't it wonderful they hold you in such high regard?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, all....... feeling more & more "down" these days, so the love of my church members, and their generosity, added to the love I feel from all of you...... it's very overwhelming, and I cry so easily these days - both in joy & worry..... never know which way to "jump" nowadays...

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

♥♥♥ hugs Susan ♥♥♥

yup, been awake most of the nite. nightmares so bad I was afraid to close my eyes

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the coffee Barb!

Sorry your having nightmares Kathy!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

That's awful. First sign of a nightmare I'm up out of bed. I'll read, sew, do anything to stay awake until I can't function anymore and the body makes me really sleep.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning ladies!

Brrrrr! Minus 11 here right now. I'm wishing for Spring!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

well we are 10 degrees and going to get a wind chill of minus5

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stay warm everyone!

Anyone heard from Jaye? How is she doing?

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Our new little Rebecca not due until early March is making threats of an early arrival. I have all the baby girl things here(don't ask), they've been stored a while so need to start washing them as soon as I go buy the baby safe soap. Manda's babies tend to have sensitive skin so must be careful, nothing harsh, extra rinsing. They also tend to be small when full term so this might be a wee punkin. Then figure how I'm going to get them down state to her. We had figured we had plenty of time. She sees her Dr. on Thurs so will know more than if nothing happens in the meanwhile. I've been present for the birth of nearly all of the grands and greats so hoping the weather doesn't throw me a curve.

Manda has all the baby boy stuff so will need to get those from her for boy great due in June. Our baby stuff just keeps circulating and somehow I seem to be the one who does the transferring.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Will keep her in our prayers!

dropping in to say hi

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

snow here, the roads are frozen, supposed to be at a funeral, but staying in where it's warm. they are closing roads and schools anyway

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hugs everyone!! I cannot ignore Barb's call of hot chocolate. Thank you Barb, the elixir of a very cold, cold morning.

Is it cold enough for everyone here? We are supposed to see some snow today and tomorrow. But thankfully, up to six inches and not the 1 foot that some crazy NCers are predicting! Hope not anyway.
The cats have been demanding more food, and we now have a new stray that joined the group.
So that makes it... plus new racoons and possums... let's say we are making Purina very wealthy.

Susan, we've been praying hard for you. You don't know how thankful I am to the Lord that He found a way for you to have a little help. Praise God. He always makes sure we are never in dire need.

If Rebecca is impatient to see the world, may her entrance be a safe one, Karen.
I want so much to be in your shoes, surrounded by grands and greats!! You are so blessed and your great love for them shows in their appreciation of you.

Me.. think I'm slowly getting out of this mental haze. As I said, I can't seem to focus on anything except mindless routines and crocheting. Thank God, Kel needs me to accompany him on the roads, and that MAKES me get out of the house.
I got to get out of this if not Kel will make us broke too!!
Trying to cheer me up last night Kel asked if I wanted anything from eBay. So, I told him I'd be interested in acquiring a new jelly roll.
With his Android, he navigate through the lists and I found something wanted. There were 5 bids already, and I told him to key in 19.26.
Kel placed the bid for 1926!! He had forgot the decimal point!!
There's no such thing as confirmation if not used on a pc!!!
So for 2 hours, the poor man was so worried that he'd be paying for the most expensive jelly roll ever!! He was already writing scenarios in his head if that's the case.
I was calm, as I know it won't go further than 40 and that it's not a piece of art where buyers can go crazy!
He slept easy last night when he won it for $31. It has 60 pieces of Asian print. Though I really want it for under 20, it's much better than 1,926 right? Got to get better so I can do all the buying :D
There was a Kate Spade jelly roll that went for 77 dollars!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Mandatory school closures here too Sis. Yes, the living got to take care of themselves, stay warm and safe sis.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Jaye. Glad you got your jelly roll! Glad to hear your getting out of the house. So what is your new adoptee?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's a yellow cat with white collar and white feet, LK,
Kel said apparently there must be a sign only visible to strays that there's free food here!!

That cat is so scrawny, you can see its bones. It's been hanging around the food bowl, constantly eating each time we look out the back door.
I'm hoping it will let me pet it, so we can take it to the vet.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

cell phone circuits are overloaded. roads are closed all over the state. my neighbor is stuck at work, Michael is on some back road trying to make it home. at least my neighbors husband is home and has checked on me numerous times. he is threatening mylife if I go out side. solid ice under snow. my4 wheel drive is doing us no good

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Same here too Sis. Can barely get a signal.
That's a good neighbour you have. Stay indoors, bug the computer...watch tv, but do keep warm.

Kel's hurt arm won't be able to crank up the generator. But if the power does go out, our grid will be the first to be returned to normal, as the state prison is on the same grid.
So much for little blessings.
