Good morning everyone...
Zero sleeps left, kids come home tonight! YAYYAYYAY!

Karen, I used the teens shower... Once I got in there I realized my mistake, but I was so intent on not slipping I just wanted the shower over with. Lol. I did remember the towel though.

Cold here, no snow... Will you be going to work Betty?
Watching Canada AM saying it's quite blustery.

Happy to hear you found the plaque Susan.

Best fire this off

Great news about the plaque Susan, perhaps someone just moved it out of the way for Christmas decorating and forgot where they moved it to..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty re: plaque... no, it was already "out of the way". It had been dedicated, and placed in one of the podiums where it wasn't seen. Someone was hiding it... our biggest concern is that someone is "losing it" and doing stuff irrationally. That's sad if that's what it is....... It's someone who is physically fit enough to climb the stairs into the choir loft and lift the heavy-ish plaque.

Just got an email from my sister Alice re: mom -
"Mom was very agitated yesterday evening sometime after 5 and had to be given a sedative. It is methotrineprazine. It is a strong psychotic sedative. You can look it up if you want, but that is what it is. She was trying to get out of bed and was just extremely agitated. They now have an alarm on her bed, so if she tries again the alarm goes off. She also had hydromorphone early in the a.m. for pain in her shoulders. I was up for a couple of hours and she would not wake up. Has been asleep all day. No breakfast or lunch. Nurse and I both tried to wake her but she was not receptive. Nurse read the chart to me and they are again going to assess her for palliative care. Joanne will be up sometime this week to do that. The chart also it says she will not be returning to the community. I asked if that that means T’s. and Renee said yes. I think we are crazy to keep T’s. Stan is in agreement. Also wants to be part of the move if we decide to do it. If we do move the furniture out I will appreciate if I can organize it. Way too confusing when too many of us are trying to do it. I asked if they were giving her drugs based on her size and Renee said they are for sure. She is not on oxygen and her breathing is deep and seems natural. Mouth open of course. I can’t think of anything else. Stan is going up today. I told him to maybe wait a couple of hours because she is in such a deep sleep. He is going to T’s first to pick up Boost. "

Betty I dont shovel I dont have one!! It wasn't his non-job issue that wasn't the problem, he a;lways did side jobs or collected unemployment, he was always getting something going, I mean it did get real stressful but he was always busy doing something and I didn't want a divorce until I figured out what was really going on. I spent my inheritance fixing things up and he felt he didn't get a piece of the pie, thats what came out in court anyway. I think the bar scene was the problem, he started going to a bar next door to the one we frequented without me and got close to the female owner, who's a known coke addict, I think he started using and it made him go insane.

Betty and the rest of you, do you have tourist attractions around that could sell southern jams, jellies, butters, southern style bacon, biscuit and pancake mix, and a bunch of other things? My company will pay for travel if its worth going to get a sale.

I go to the bone doc Wednesday at 8:30am!! I'm skeptical, there's no telling what they might do or say. LOL!! I think I will get this contraption off and something else a tad normal will be purchased at the nearest pharmacy/walgreens/walmart. I go to the therapist at 11:30 Thursday morning.

LK OMG!! I am so glad you're feeling better!! Did you get a flu shot in 2013? I haven't and the Urgent Care P.A., Mr Boom, told me to get one but I heard they don't protect against the common cold that bronchitis and pneumonia come from.

Susan, we all get to focusing on our own selves when stressful situations come around, its ok!

Well we're off to walmart. Everyone have a wonderful evening!

Crissy - every July Calgary has the Calgary Stampede, and the majority of companies (business, restaurants, Churches, Community Halls, etc) have free breakfasts/lunches during the two week celebrations.
They serve bacon, pancakes, and biscuits, and of course eggs (not on your list, but this is what they have lol)
You might want to get in touch with the Calgary Stampede, for suggestions - 1410 Olympic Way SE, Calgary, AB T2G 2W1 (403) 261-0101
A VENDOR's contact is: Deb Hauser, Sr. Coordinator 403.261.0522
dhauser@calgarystampede.com

website is: http://cs.calgarystampede.com/ Check the Vendors tab.......
Other than that, I can't suggest anything, but it's worth a try!

Here's hoping you get that "contraption" off, and get something more comfortable.

This is our newest dog Blackie. He is about 3 years old. He is doing much better. He is gaining weight and the fleas and ticks are all gone. He has been in the neighborhood for awhile, and we finally got him to come in the yard to eat, and we took him to the vet and got him his shots.

No flu shot hear Crissy. I usually get them every year, but not this past year.

Awww looks like a happy puppy now.

Verona, ON

Love the pic of Blackie LK. He looks very happy. How do he and Luna get along?

Snow finally stopped around noon. Plow guy came in around 3 pm,, replowed and took the time to tidy up the messes he had made from previous plows. He often comes in about 3 or 4 am just to make sure those who need to get out to work can. He has been so busy this year he hasn't been able to come back and tidy up after each of his plows ( it is all considered 1 plow) My drive and turnabout look much better, no one would get stuck in it now, Betty I am as bad as you - I haven't been out since Thurs afternoon.

Betty do you think there are some shows that Crissy could attend here in Ontario? I was thinking about the CNE.. She wouldn't be eligible for any juried shows but there are lots of others. Wouldn't that be fun to have her here in Ontario for a few days?

Susan don't hesitate to talk about your mam. Heaven knows you have listened to all of us in the past. The great thing about all these ladies here is they are great listeners and very astute so often have words to pass on we would never think of ourselves,

Started cleaning out the double closet in the den. Oh my!!!! This is going to be a big job. There is stuff and more stuff piled on top of each other and then there is the junk that at at the moment seemed like a great idea to keep. LOL I've already gotten bogged down with my recipe file.I can't stop myself from ripping out a recipe when it reads like it will be delicious. I will just have to shut the door to the room when the cleaning lady comes tomorrow.

Barb are you able to get out at all with all this snow, ice and cold? Library visits still a go?

Sending positive thoughts Crissy when you visit the bone doc.

Time for the pups' last call so I can at least pretend I am going to fall asleep.

Where are ya Debbie?
Dianne, Diesel and Duke

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you, Crissy, Dianne, and all of you.... you make things easier.
When I can't find the words to say, I'm just copy/pasting.....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

My first time to the library here was last Friday Dianne. It was really enjoyable. I can't go this Friday - echo cardiogram and lab work. Weather permitting, I'll go the next week. I try to get out at least one day on the weekends with Norm but other than the library thing with a neighbor, I'm in all the time. It is so cold and I can't catch my breath in it. We are in that deep freeze again.....with snow....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Dianne, Luna and Blackie get along great. There is a little jealousy between them, they play great together.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

wow and double wow, -37 with wind chill factor, brrrrr

have a electric blanket plugged in to keep me toasty..Suzanne is home with cold/flu and bronchitis..personally I think she never stops, never rests and these past several months she's always sick, body's way of saying 'look after me'

Sharon and Kim warned me that my mom was completely out of control, did call her last night, she was pleasant as can be, didn't complain once..guess it's my time for the nice mom..asked her were she went on the weekend, said here and there and travelled 300 miles so who knows.

Barb, may I make a suggestion, my FIL and a friend both had the knitted neck warmer with the deer hyde so when they went outside wind could not penetrate..only with the neck warmer could they venture out in the winter..I believe I gave you a piece of hyde when you visited..might be a great project to do..glad you are getting out at least once a week.

LindaKay, Blackie is a gorgeous dog, kudos for you for all you are doing for him.

Dianne I was on a cleaning mission this month, can't believe what I threw out and with the xxl space bags I managed to contain 5 large shelves into 2 bags easily stored.
Andrew who plows for me was over doing the same, pushing away the banks and cleaning at roadside so I have a clear view when leaving the drive..between he and the municipal plow all is under control at the moment. Only good thing about this cold is the no snow..Advisory Alert on right now for the frigid weather, can't imagine being outside for any amount of time.

Crissy, Dianne is right, we have the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, not far from where I took you when we ate at the CN Tower..truly would be a major event if your product could be included in the food building.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Loved the CN tower!

LK, I remember when you coaxed Blackie into your yard. He looks sooooooo much better!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you sitting enjoying your lazy boy Joyce. Lol
Bet you have a lot more time n your hands not making mushrooms..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

No Betty - no deer hide. I have the knitted sleeves and cuff to fit into a quilted vest but not the neck warmer thingy. I wrap a scarf around and I am okay as long as I am only going from the house to the car. I can't stay out in it for any time though.....It really has become a problem for me in ways I didn't think about. My dear SIL passed this weekend and I can not go to services in North Carolina. Too many sick people in the planes....Doc says no... So we will get together when the warmer weather comes.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Barb, it is beginning to sound like you need to move south....some lovely homes in this area. :-) Sorry to hear of your SILs passing. Hugs and prayers to you and the family.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending prayers for your family as well Barb.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Barb, I'm thinking that too, you might need to consider a more beneficial climate for your health. We would like to keep you around for a long time yet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear of your Sil's passing Barb, am sure family understand, doesn't make it any easier though! Hugs

If I send you one cut out and instructions would you knit one for yourself?

Tell you, if I were USA citizen if move south n a sec, well perhaps not, would miss the kids too much..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

You don't have to be a US citizen to move south Betty. Have 2 granddaughters I will share.....well share a little. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can only spend 6 months at a time..guess winter months would be ok. Lol

Nice to dream

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

My condolences on the passing of your SIL Barb.
Not being able to attend the services is quite disappointing, but, I also know people understand.
Moving south would surely be an option, but, so many things to weigh to make a balance .. family, friends, jobs ..

LindaK, Blackie looks like a lovely addition to your family ^_^

Betty, Lorna's parents went OUT in that cold for eye appts .. Lorna is frantic, and will be til she hears from them.
It's -40 here with the windchill .. we stayed IN today, will go to thegym tomorrow, besides I am totally pooped out from the week of babysitting.
My GDaughter said to me "Gramma, I just LOVE the way you can WRITE' .. I asked what she meant .. she's 15 .. she and her generation, have NOT been taught 'long hand' !!! As in writing .. she remembers the year (grade 4) when they were told there was NO NEED to do long hand !! I am still getting over that shock ! She had me show her 'try' .. both she and her brother were in awe, but, just couldn't do it without LOTS of practice !!
I showed her your Xmas card Barb, you have THE most beautiful handwriting ..
Anyway .. iPods or iPads waken them each morning, and, from then on in, they are captives of technology .. Gord and I sure learned a lot we wished we didn't know (re the technology and how much it is used).

I have a story (with photos) LoL
So, it's Monday, last day of our week long babysitting gig .. I ask the kids if they would like to go out for supper, of course they both did ^_^
So .. at 2:30pm we get ready to leave the house to go and pick up both kids.
Mojo, the Bulldog, is crated with a treat .. Winston and Molly are 'good' so, they are allowed to be free in the house. We've left them before.
Austin is first to be picked up at 3:10pm, then on to the high school for Brooklyn at 3:30pm .. they both want PIZZA and WINGS, so, off to Pizza Hut.
Supper conversation is a buzz with talk of Mom and Dad returning home that night ..
By 5:15pm the 4 of us leave Pizza Hut, mingle in with the 'rush hour' traffic and head home ..
Gord and the kids go in first as they need to get the dogs out (Mojo) out of the kennel, and, I am slower in the snow.
Brooklyn appears at the front door as I walk up, a look of terror on her face ! All 3 dogs are around me, so, I know it's not poochie related terror, ..... well .... seems little Miss Molly jumped UP onto a dining room chair (they are high as bar stools) .. got onto the dining room table, and knocked over the TREAT CONTAINER .. the lid came off, and, both she and Winston ate ALL the dog treats !!!!!!!
She is a small 'svelte' dog, but, I could see her tummy was FULL !!!
I ran to the table .. OMG!!! 2 deep scratches on the surface .
I'm thinking, '7 days with 2 teens, no problems, 5 hours before my son comes home, PROBLEM' .. but, since I could do absolutely NOTHING about it .. I sat down and watched the news all the time keeping my eye on Molly .. BTW, she is fine ..

SO .. there you have it, wait til you see how HIGH she had to jump from a hardwood floor !!!

Oh those little stinkers! Hope your son was not too upset with the scratch!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh no "M", no way to buff it up? Drats not good!
Think you had best learn to sew and make placemats. Lol..

Lordy it's a cold one, got home and into a scalding hot bath, Jammie's on and deciding if I should go downstaupis and do something vs heading straight to bed, what do you think?

Hmm guess I will call mom, that ought to decide what I will do

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Alison says not to worry re the scratches .. she is going to put a table cloth on the table, or, pace mats ..

Betty .. I said hot bath and BED, rejuvenate for tomorrow ..

Watching Corrie, then I am off to ctach up on some Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs

downstairs won out..Rita and I got talking about an easy quilt she'd like to try, like the black and white ones I did for mom and Melanie, ideas flying around in my head so downstairs we are..I have to wait for Rita to sew a 9 block before I can help so here I am

posting a picture of the 2 tree skirts I just finished, the 3rd on on the design wall will have to wait for the weekend

Doing something like that would be great!! I need to find out when I'm going to Gatlinburg and when the shows up there are, then let my bosses know and see if its doable.

LK what a handsome pooch!

Barb I agree with the others about moving south, maybe its time to move where I'm at! Ha!! Seriiously, the normal temps in the winter are lows in the 20's and highs in the 40's and summer range in the 90's for the high. The temps obviously fluctuate but you know.

LOL Betty, love how downstairs won out! You crack me up!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Barb - so sorry to hear about your SIL's passing....

Verona, ON

Barb my sincerest sympathy in the loss of your SIL. I am positive your family understands why you can't make the journey. As someone said we want you around here for a long time so take care of yourself. Is this stormy weather interrupting Norm's work schedule?

I am as bad as you Betty. I was all achy and overtired around 8 pm and instead of heading for bed decided to tackle another chore that could have easily waited for another day. Now I am wide awake.

I need to stay off of FB. The rescue that I got Duke from needs a foster for an adorable 10 mon old Rottie/GS mix. The saner part of my brain says NO do not make the call but the other side of my brain says go for it. What to do??? I certainly have the space, the time and the patience although I would probably end up a foster fail, and have a third dog for my pack.

Stay warm and safe everyone. It was so cold here today that after I bundled up to walk the dogs I only got about 15 yards from the house when I realized the pups were sitting at the back door waiting to go back inside. Wimps I say!!

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all,

How cold can it possibly get?? Think not much colder
So far I believe it's the coldest day yet, started the car, started like a charm, thank goodness!
Will do so very 20 minutes or so that way I won't freeze when I go out..would have been so nice to stay in bed ..

Dianne, the whims won't be making the 15 yards this morning..hmmm another pooch, yep me thinks you should stay off Facebook as well. Lol

Have you been experiencing earth tremors from the cold?

Hot chocolate awaits

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Thank you all for your kind thoughts regarding the passing of my SIL. They are appreciated very much. I did feel really bad for my brother though as neither of my brothers that live here in NH were able to go either. One brother is 77 and cannot fly and the other - his wife just had major surgery and he is not supposed to fly. My brother in NC will come up here when the weather breaks...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Am sure he understands Barb..hugs

Brrr -38 and colder, not sure what the wind factor is but close to high 40's

Want to share your sunshine

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Fairly mild here today before it heads downhill again. If sunny and not windy, might let Amelia bundle up and go out for a bit. She's been begging to go, just loves it. Funny in TN she never asked, guess she knows I'm a softy. Bad area they lived in really wasn't a place for her to go out.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice to be young and not fret over the cold..
Yep. She has her grandma wrapped around her fingers..she is adorable

Love the grandsons but I sure wish I had a grandaughter

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

It is 30 here at the moment but I shall not complain! Well not here anyways. Bundle up and stay warm everyone.

Ah Betty, granddaughters are such a delight....don't know about grandsons as I lack one of those. The youngest GD has been sick but yesterday her teacher sent her work to do so she wouldn't fall behind. Well her only comment: "Boy she knows how to make a bad day worse"! Never know what that one is coming out with these days.

Barb, I am than sure your brother understands. Still it doesn't stop you from feeling sad about not being able to go.......taking care of yourself is more important at this time. Stay warm!!!!!

(((Barb)))) So sorry to hear of your SIL's passing. I agree with others, stay home and safe for now.
Nasty bugs going around and a plane is not the place to be.

Betty is thinking of moving south....and I am thinking of moving to Canada! lol

Have same weather as Betty & Dianne, and dang is it ever cold here.

Miss you all....sending hugs A very cold and freezing Niagara Falls.
