Just got in, big lot store closing in Barrie so went to see what I could find in celebration of my news..Of course they had organizing metal units to put in cupboards re kitchen so here I am, cleaning kitchen cupboards. Lol

Bought a floor lamp, always so dark in the living room just using stained glass lamps, was a good deal, cheap but might give me more light for reading

Thanks for the support..Debbie you are bad

Mom just called, pleasure talking to her, imagine me saying that!!
Rough day, she is thinking its been a week today, I encouraged her and told her how proud I am ..

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

continuing to send hugs to all.

I sent package to Judy, and she has told me that she has me. she said she is working on something special :) I laughed with her and said I had something I was working on for her...and would send when finished....at the rate I am going I may change my mind and send her something for spring!!!

I'm half-awake after an afternoon nap. I reinjured my left ankle to get my birthday off to a good start!! Oh, well, several hundred t-shirts are packed and wrapped and labeled and put away in our storage shed. When I get fabric paints, etc sorted I'll be able to do Sherril Kahn-type t-shirts.

Getting the level of pain killers reestablished. They really work well. Best when I have a steady supply and don't go up and down so much.

Came in 2nd in a poker tournament last night and won $25!!. Haven't won any money in a while so that was nice.

Will make a honey cake for myself. Maybe.

Mostly having a lazy dishing Dianneay and was here to remind me not to stumble around and hurt myself.

thanks for all the birthday wishes.

hugs, katie

Heavy rain most of the way, gave out and crashed at son and DIL's Had hoped to make it home as forecast for today is snow statewide. Only 4 hours on the road today, home will look pretty good. Then we have to 1. clear the snow so we can get in, 2. clear the way to the garage, 3, make room in the garage, 4. empty the truck mostly onto the garage, 5. at the very least get the baby's crib together. siiiigh.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Betty what wonderful news! I'm sorry you still have to be in pain though. Glad Mom is behaving.

Happy belated birthday, Katie. Hope your ankle isn't too bad.

I have good and bad news. Kitty Neeky looks to have broken her leg. Vet appointment at 2:30 today. Pray that she can be splinted, because if surgery is called for, we'll have to have her put done.

My good news is that grandchild number 14 is soon to be here. In fact, she probably is already, but we haven't had the call yet. They're in Texas. A C section was scheduled for 7:30 their time. They weren't expecting any complications.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oooooh exciting Joyce,, Hope you get the good word soon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

thrilled with the weather,yep, not summer but it's not -40 below and blizzard conditions so I'll take it with a smile.

Joyce, ohhh, that means you have to come back for a visit so I can embroider yet another name on that quilt you have. How exciting for you, 14 in total, omg how do you even remember their names

Roger's mom and dad had 38, mind boggling

Ahhh Neeky, sure hope it's an easy fix.

Karen, best you enjoy the last 4 hrs. of your drive, sounds like you've days ahead of you before you even get into the house to relax.

How are you feeling today Katie?

Susan, you are likely on your way home, bet is was difficult to say goodbye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, 38 kids??? Holy cow! I have never heard of a family that large!

Victoria Harbour, ON

oh no LindaKay, we were talking about Joyce's 14 grandchildren and I was saying how many Roger's mom and dad had..they had 11 kids and 38 grandkids then add in great and great/greats..we used to rent the Legion for our Christmas gathering

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is still a huge family!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rogers dad came from a family of 13' only one in that family had less than 10 kids.

Melanie's dad came from a family of 17

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow! That is a lot of family! I know before Mom and Dad passed we had to rent a hall for a family gathering and there were only 3 kids for them! Can't imagine having that big a family. We actually only have 13 grand kids ( and 3 of them are step, but they still count!) and one great granddaughter and she belongs to one of the steps.

Be careful what you say, Betty, for I'm sure to take you up on that!!

We'll soon be leaving to take Neeky to the vet. Keep your fingers crossed.

I have a pot of Great Northern beans on the stove with ham and other goodies. That will be dinner tonight. The last two days it's been in the fifties, but we're headed back to the teens. Bill is stacking more fire wood.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

My mom was one of 11 children and thankfully we lived on a farm with a huge yard so all gatherings were at our house.

Joyce so hoping and praying they can do something for the kitty. I know Kim has had several with broken legs and they have been put into cast. Did quite well. She even had one that had to have a leg amputated and it was surprising how she adopted to 3 legs.....and the kitty being 13 at the time. Think positive.

What time is dinner? I love great northern beans. I'll bring the cornbread as I just bought a package of fresh course ground cornmeal. Oh my way...............

Joyce, you and the girls are always welcome, so much we didn't see last 2 times

Greg on Sunday night was going on and on about how I missed taking everyone to see the S.S. Keewatin, oops an oversight so you just have to come back and visit

Marion, is Kim now fully recovered from her fall?

Joyce, hoping to read later that you've a kitty with a cast home and on your lap

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Pretty much so Betty. She is now experiencing the joys that come with being over 50...not bad but starting to have some things she has noticed aren't as easy to do. Ah, such is life.

I, too, am waiting to hear about the kitty.....so hoping it is good news.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I DID receive my package, listed everything but I dont have a clue wherre lol!
I DID NOT get mine sent out yet, this broken elbow is still immobile and I am MMMAAAADDD. Seems as though they changed the way they heal bones since the last time I broke an arm. Instead of leaving the arm in a cast until its healed, usually 6-8 weeks they take it out half way through healing and put it in a stupid brace for "limited" therapy. I have a shattered Ulna that luckly didnt separate so I didnt have surgery. Last Wednesday they put me in this brace that has a locking mechanism on it and told me that I cant use it or move it for anything, but I am to go to physical therapy. I asked why did they take the cast off and the nurse said that we have to get it mobile now or it will not move. I told her thats the biggest bunch of bs I have ever heard, I had a cast once for 8 weeks on this same elbow about 10-15 years ago and it was fine, she basically called me a liar. I told her that in the cast the swelling was down and the pain was gone, with the brace the swelling and pain came back like they were the day after I broke it. Its now been 5 1/2 weeks since I broke it, I hopefully get this stupid brace off on the 22nd, and I have stared therapy already. Enough of my rant lol!!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY KATIE!!!!!!!

Hi everyone!!!!!!!

I found out at work today that the food show I get to work is in GATLINBURG!!!!! It'll be this summer sometime and I cant wait!!

Susan so glad you got to see your mom.

Betty so glad about the hip! Shaking my finger at you for messing with electricity while standing in water. Glad your mom is doing ok!

Joyce hope the kitty will be ok, you dont have to put a cat down because of a broken leg, there are many inexpensive alternatives.

Well typing with one hand is a drag so Im gonna get off of here. Miss y'all!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sending lots of healing prayers Crissy.

Drats just wrote a novel and poof it's gone

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Happy belated Birthday, katie!!!

Yes, I had a great last day visit with Mom - she was so sweet as I left..... said to say "thank you" to Bob for letting me come - told her "there was no LET" lol
it was such a sweet "leave taking" Mom was great, and waved her hand goodbye as I left the room. I gave her several kisses on the forehead and cheek before I left.
Today...... not so happy news - she's still with us, but she, who has been bedridden and unable to get out of bed without help for over a week, got out when no one was looking.... she must have slid out, then walked the few steps and turned around to the visitors chair, and sat down. Then she slumped over. Her roommate must have been sleeping but when she woke, she saw Mom and used the call button. The aide got Mom back into bed, the gave her a lecture.
Mom is NOT to leave bed. She's far too weak. She'd only had 1/2 cup of tomato soup, and a few sips of tea that day..... far too weak, but yet she got herself out of bed.
If will alone could do it, she'd survive anything.........
I know she's determined, but that isn't enuff for an 80lb woman in her condition.....

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Safe travels Susan, sending you hugs ♥♥♥

~~~~~~~ waving to Y'All~~~~~~
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Morning everyone!
Susan, did your Mom get the window side of the room she wanted?
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
We are home. trip was great until the last hour and a half which should have only taken an hour or less. We hit snow which got worse and the road was pretty bad. No incidents though. Now to the task of blending them into our home. Have a truck full but most will go into storage with about half of ours. Great to have a baby about again.
Our family is quite large too. 4 kids=15 grands and coming into 11 greats(2 due this spring). We have halves and steps and adoptees but I challenge you to tell which is which. Plus a few not counted here which just decided to join us at some point. Former DILs child from second marriage is counted because she decided she was our full grand from the get-go and will argue with anyone who dares to tell her otherwise. We don't ALL manage to get together very often but various ones of us do. Youngest DDs 25th anniversary party last year had us all.
Crissy, I just love being told something I experienced didn't happen or was impossible. Yup just made it up.
Too cute, Barb.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Oh boy, that was funny!
Victoria Harbour, ON
so laughing, thanks Barb!! wonder if that is how the young ones are when I approach them...lol
About 1a.m. I typed and typed, went to scross down and there went my post so will try to remember what I was gabbing about.
Mom phoned last night, we had a lovely chat for 1/2 hr. then to bed I went at 6pm and dozed off the minute my foot touched the bed. This morning mom called back and she is in hysterics..I so don't want to offer alternatives or suggestions as to what she should do..Mike and Kim are on paperwork and able to offer $$$ till house and cottage are sold so I will not bud in..no sooner did she hang up that I found I couldn't move my neck..likely muscle pasms from ..add Sharon msn'ing me prior to leaving for Virginia telling me she was through with mom and never wanted to speak with her again..so that's how my morning has gone..did bring in christmas fabric and a pattern, was thinking of starting a Christmas tree skirt but put it back into the tote, my cutting and sewing takes a bit more energy and brains than I have today!
Karen, don't envy you trying to fit everything for the kids into your home..when you thought last year you would be moving much of your furniture was given/sold right, so maybe somewhere you've an empty room.
Crissy so nice to hear from you but NOT about what you are going through..never heard of something they put on your arm and lock..Gatlinburg, hmmm what kind of work did you say you are doing that will have you there, how long will you be there???questions questions
If you can or if your swap buddy can, could they post photo's of your SantaWarren box?? will post on the post we are keeping track on that you've got yours and your swap buddy's will soon be in the mail.
Victoria Harbour, ON
LindaKay, did you have a flight booked for Michigan? Is it this weekend the 80th celebration?
Susan, so glad you've memories of leaving your mom with her smilling and waving..lordy, she could have broken a hip or something trying to get to the restroom on her own..bet Bob was thrilled to see you get home.
Verona, ON
Here I is, here I is.... at last!!! I just got my internet back about an hour ago so haven't had time to read. There were 1602 emails waiting for me to look at. Guess I know what I will be doing for awhile.
Just wanted to pop in and say Hi and tell you all how much I have missed you. Even with a thaw last weekend I can still skate the mile out the lane.
Oh Mary you spoiled us with your Santa Warren gift box!!!! Duke would not leave the box from the second I brought it into the house until I opened it and he got to have some of the treats his Auntie Mary sent him.
Will post after I get caught up reading. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.
Dianne
(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)
What a wonderful sight.....Dianne posting!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
ohhh great seeing you post Dianne..we've all been worried!
Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)
I don't have an empty room Betty, but we are working on re-arranging. Their computer will fit into my computer room too so we will share there. They do most of theirs on their phones anyhow. Put them and baby upstairs. Is one huge room with 2 king 1 full and 7 twin beds. We are taking out one twin to make a cubby for the baby's crib and they will use one of the kings. We are sleeping downstairs. We will need to share the upstairs bath as that is the best shower to use. One down has a tub and shower but is old fashioned claw foot tub and too hard for me to get in and out of. They will put their TV up stairs for when they want to watch something different. We sat and had a good talk today about what is expected. I told Steph not to be afraid to speak up and other than normal grandma stuff, I'll try not to interfere with their baby rules. I also told them that clutter makes me crazy if it lasts for too long. If we have a lot here for a week-end it gets cluttered but I know it will go away.
I think we'll be OK there will be times I know when we will drive each other crazy but we will just have to work through them. They are making a good plan to get back on their feet.
Victoria Harbour, ON
I'm sure all will work out, just those nasty little bugs, those drive you crazy..half the battle is your having sat down and gone through what is expected from both sides..bonus point, that little great grandaughter
I hear you on things dragging, everything I own has a place, I'm trying with Rita at the house to let things go..dishes in the sink, bed not made as I make it, hey just me being anal..am learning..keep wanting to go make the bed or clean but I realize I'm not living alne anymore..at least a few months so leave it alone.
Not moving the best today so didn't go out for lunch, Suzanne went and got me a salad and baked potato from Wendy's
Looking forward to end of day
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Hooray!!! So happy to see you Dianne. I tried to email and I even got a Christmas card back that said "Unable to deliver".... We have been worried. On top of that, I lost your phone number. But Debbie bless her heart, kept us informed on what happened.
How are D & D?
Victoria Harbour, ON
Evening all
Today seemed to be like forever, so glad I'm home and in bed! Put the fireplace on, love that it has a unit that flickers light along with crackling sound..Then add in about 30 quilt books to look at, well can life get better?
Few flurries on my way home tonight, here is hoping they will not amount to much. Dianne, not as bad as you I'm sure but one has to be ever so careful, inches of ice remains all over.
Barb, start your project yet?
Liz, did receive your envelope, thank you for the workshop idea.
Going to post top label for you in a bit..knew I had forgotten to do something
Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)
Good to see Dianne posting ^_^
Susan, I wish your Mom well, T&Ps as always
Lots or arthritic pain today .. I think it's because Murray.s house isn't as warm .. his woodstove is down in lower level of his home .. with 3 floors up to heat ..a home for a YOUNG family .. we are not too good at running up and down the stairs/ started using the portable heaters today ..
Kids are being great .. hope it stays that way LoL
Almost became a automotive statistic today .. not really up to typing about it .. suffice to say, there are some VERY bad drivers out there ..
OOOOoooo Murray is skyping from Punta Cana .. off to talk with them to see how their day went
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Glad to see you posting Dianne.
Betty I will not be going to Michigan. Ticket prices soared to over $600.00 this past week. I told my sis I will visit when it warms up a bit.
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
LK the weather has been horrible up there, but I'm sure you know that lol
EVERYONE I work at House of Webster http://www.houseofwebster.com and (I didn't know this when I was hired) but am now part of a brand new 3 person outside/inside sales team. If you all know of places that sells specialty items, like any kind of gift shop, or upscale grocery stores like Jim's in OH, can you please let me know what it is and where? I can't do much 'outside' with this arm but hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to. It is more than appreciated!!!
Along with the outside sales I get to work a couple of food shows throughout the year and Gatlinburg is one of them! I don't know when I'm going but I suspect I'll only be there a couple of days. I wish I was going when the Sistahs Reunion is going to be there.
DIANNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY you have internet again!!!!!
Well I caught a cold today and have a fever and took some Nyquil so everyone have a wonderful evening!!!
