Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I hope to someday have a dog that can compete at Westminster or the Eukanuba show.

Sissy is 4 years old, she has been out with a professional handler for the last 3 months. I enjoy showing, but just couldn't get the major wins she needed, so saved up for a handler. Politics is part of the game. I had thought of driving to Mich to pick her up, but, I keep telling myself, the sensible thing is to wait until next Friday when Lisa will be here for shows. Now that she's finished, thoughts will turn to breeding, hopefully, by the end of the year.

I still have her brother that I want to send out with Lisa, but he's still growing coat. Maybe by summer he'll be ready to go.

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To all;

(HUGE HUGS) DIanne... so glad to see you again !
It warmed my heart to hear your words.

I had all the good intentions to take pictures for you and send you a flash drive but it just never happened as the shop opening was the same timing as the Santa Warren Swap.... and I needed to get everything over asap.

After I purchased everything... I brought it home and intended to take pictures. Once I brought everything inside BELLE WENT CRAZY !

She whimpered incessantly....I suppose she knew there were doggie pressies in the box.... so I had to put the box in my car JUST TO SHUT HER UP and ended up mailing it before I could take pictures....
(HUGS)
I"m glad you are doing well....and weather cooperating

Love to all
Mary

2 more sleeps and we will be back to normal!

Just spent almost 20 minutes trying to figure out the washing machine... So hoping I poked the right buttons, and, that it's ok to use a POD in it.
It's new so I think it's fine.

Cold here, more snow expected as well

Murray and Alison met an Airforce pilot from Pittsburgh
He and his wife are vacationing in the Dominican too,he will be going back to Afghanistan next month.
He's originally from Duluth Minnesota, so, since folks from thunder bay go there frequently, they had lots to talk about. Small world!

Guess I should go and check out the laundry. Down 3 flights, and back up. My hip is actually not too unhappy

Mary, i had to move the dog treats I brought..The. 3 dogs were driving me bonkers!

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Good morning everyone!!

Deb its great seeing you! Nice to have some champs around, Sissy is beautiful!!

Katie I am so sorry you are in so much pain! Yes hot baths will help!

I think everyone north of the gulf states has had a tough winter this year. We were snowed in for a week here in AR, then that about melted and then got another round and for 2 days we didnt get above 11*F!

Mary how are you doing??? Lol about all the whimpering!

I am hanging in there, yesterday was the 6th week since I broke my elbow and it doesn't hurt at all now but I AM following doctors orders and not using it except for my light therapy! I go back to the bone doc on Wed to get an update and hopefully get this brace removed, then Thursday I go back to the therapist to change my therapy according to what the doc says. I wont have health insurance until Feb 1st so all of this has to come out of pocket and Joel hasn't found a job yet, poor fella is all kinds of stressed out and depressed, because of the arm and house/car insurance unexpectedly tripling we are $300 in the hole every month. Then I had to get sick and end up in Urgent Care yesterday, I'm getting bronchitis, its still in viral mode so no antibiotics but he gave me some cough pills and a new inhaler for my borderline asthma and told me since I don't have insurance yet to get an over the counter fever reducer and if there's no improvement by next Thursday to call him, he will save me the $150.00 base visit amount and just call in some antibiotics.

Betty everyone is right, you can't let the guilt get you. I love Marilynne's suggestion about doing things that she has no interest in, she'll move on to someone who has time to pay attention to only her, of course there will be blame but so what. I really hope Bernie steps in, its time.

Thought I had dropped n earlier so 'morning' everyone

Called mom last night, no a swer, left voice mail, emailed Mike who said all she told Kim is she was going away for a few days so I will not worry, will call tonight and ask how it went.

Deb,Sharon says there is more politics going on in dog shows than in government.
She should be home later this afternoon and then the waiting begins to see if the breeding took.she didn't have a good experience with here last birth, different mom and dad so hooe all is well. Because of the titles she holds she has a waiting list for the next 302 years,

Mary, sure am missing your evening posts and updates and how your new venture is going..hoping as the months progress you will have more time to come and chat. How is witchypoo doing?

Crissy, here is hoping your final examination shows all is healin as it should..drats on the insurance Crissy, another few weeks and all will be covered, too bad you couldn't put off a few of the appts so they would get covered.

"M" are you also counting days until spring. Lol
Nice being away but always doesn't it feel so much better being in the comforts of your own home..won't be that many more years the kids won't need a sitter..

LndaKay you feeling any better?

Debbie, soon will have to come and find you, you are missing far too long!

Did top of a Xmas tree skirt, on my 2nd one, when I'm looking for something to do another day I shall quilt them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Doing a bit better. Some days better than others.

Glad there is some improvement!

Hi everyone, It's almost noon and I'm still in my jammies. I caan't believe how much I slept last night - at least twelve hours, Less pain this morning when I finally woke up. I took a pain killer and it's starating to work. It's an adjustment I just beame aware of: I'm in pain but I'm not sick. I get frustrated because I want to be doing things but my body says "no way." I need to see if I can find someone to do the basics like washing dishes and doing laundry as those two tasks take up most of the energy that I have.

On the up side, the kitchen is gradually coming together and I've found a few things that were MIA.

Dianne and crissy, glad to see you back posting You've been missed. Also Mary. Deb, big welcome; we are all dog lovers here so you are in good company. I have four dogs - all "Mexicaan" a breed not yet widely recofnized but they don't know that.

Got a kilo of fresh halibut and fresh veggies from local vendors who make house calls so I can eat well this weekend.

One kitchen cupboard is a bottom corner one that turns around. It's temperamental - sticks and makes things fall over, then refuses to turn. I have to figure out what I can put in there that I don't end up cursing at. Such big problems.

Betty, wonder if your mom is hoping everyone will worry about her beinng gone for a few days. Dream on.

Well, I need to get out of my jammies and see if I have enough energy left to do anything else.

To answer some of your questions: I have a large fabric collection, all from the US. Ebay, thrift shops and fabric stores. Lots of projects to do. Someday.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Collecting is half the fun Katie..one day something will strike you and you will have all you need to make it..funny, girls here who come to sew rarely bring thread, hello there, NEED thread...
I'd never think of going to salvation army looking for fabric..have to tell the ladies when they go to keep an eye out for me, even using it for backing would be good
For your lazy Susan could you not oil it, maybe they are just dried up

Nice when you can get into a deep sleep and rest, waking up feeling like a million bucks is rare these days. Why is it when you can sleep in you are up before the rids, when you have to be up you sooo want to cuddle in.

Yes, that's my guess about mom, will call tonight and leave another message saying its great she has gone out, new environment and new people, passes the hard part being the weekend..here is hoping she is enjoying it somewhat!

Rita and I are laughing, made 2 Christmas tree skirt tops, enough to make another ..best I put leftover squares away or I'll have more skirts than I Ned..want to change to another design, need almost ten but don't want them the same..

Drats and more drats, body is aching big time...if I take something for it I will no longer be productive..Rita is warming up chicken and slidders I made on the weekend, I've a big pot of stew in slow cooker warming for supper and she is looking for what she can make for supper

She says it's nap time, think I'll not nap but will rest

Hey, Ladies! Sorry I haven't been on much. Been kind of busy, even if we did get another couple of inches of snow yesterday. Sherry and I went to a new outlet that we heard about. It's called Hayneedle. They have lots of different things there. I wasn't really looking for anything, but the prices were unbelievable! So when we went to check out, (I didn't have anything, but Sherry had found a couple of things) they had playing cards and they had discounts of from 20 to 50% off. Wowza! I had seen a pretty recliner, but hadn't looked at the price or seriously thought about getting it. Sherry got 30% off of her stuff which made it amazingly cheap!

So, I went back and looked at the chair more closely.

Here is the chair. It's a BarcaLounger. Brown leather, originally priced at $499.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Anyone want to guess what I ended up paying for it?

Keep meaning to tell you, that Bertie, (my dear friend and neighbor) has to have rotator cuff surgery this coming Wednesday. She wants to do it now so she's back in business by gardening time.

Joyce, yippee we have matching recliners..how about $275 unless of course you got it for 50% off.. Now is the chair for Bill or yourself? How is Bill doing? Behaving I hope

Poor Bertie, all that gardening is catching up to her..likely she will not be able to do as much gardening this year as in previous years.

Best you both remember where this discount store is for when I next pop in and have a bit of time on my hands. Lol

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I've shopped at Hayneedle online. Was very happy with items purchased.

mulege, Mexico

I've found lots of nice fabrics at good prices at thrift shops. It's where a lot of stashes go there when their owners go to heaven. You might have to search for them or ask where they are as they are often in a dark corner. kb

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

It's for me! The ticket on the chair was $112. BUT then I pulled the 50% card! Yippie! I jumped up and down! Cost me $59!!!!!!

They're only open on Fridays, and not every Friday. I will definitely shop there again!

Calling it a night

kept myself busy tonight cutting 5" squares for Karen and myself..need a few tree skirts for Bethel House sale in April and the one using these squares shouldn't take much time.

I belong to an organizational site and I joined a 21 day boot camp which I completed and now it's a tidy up program..

last night I had to clean the washroom, make sure nothing was dragging, everything in it's place, tonight I had to put 5 things in their proper place, did so upstairs and then did same downstairs and clean washroom again..not sure what they add in for tomorrow night

more fun when cleaning is a 'game'

Did want to quilt but Missy would growl each time I tried to use the machine so gave that up,
so guess I will call it a night

OMG Joyce, that is the bargain of the century, now wonder you are excited...for that price could you not have gotten Bill a matching one lol

Verona, ON

Maybe Missy is trying to tell you something Betty - like relax for a bit mom. Love the idea of the boot camp. I need something like that. I do so much better when I have an agenda to follow.

Still snowing. More forecasted for tomorrow with high winds and the polar vortex returning. Spent the afternoon making sure I had enough wood in the carport for a few days. It was much easier a task as the Escape is at the garage. It is having a facelift since I decided I was going to keep it rather than trade it in.It has such low mileage . The Escape is a 2002 and being a Ford has a few rust spots that need to be attended to rather than let go.

Love the chair Joyce. What a steal! Good for you.

Debbie hope you had the day that you needed. Did you take any pics?

Oh Katie I love the idea of fresh halibut. I am anxious for the ice fishermen to start hauling in their catch. We have a tradition where I trade them fresh baked goods for cleaned fish.Works great for all of us. I hate ice fishing and several guys in the village are either out of work or work shifts so fish all day. Several of the unemployed guys feed their families with their catch and are to be congratulated on not sitting in front of the TV doing nothing. They often take their families out with them on the weekends and the kids either fish, skate or play games. It is like they make their own little village on the ice in the 1 bay. They BBQ and just have an all round good time.

Mary I sure hope you and Lance are taking some time for yourselves. I know how hard it is to start up a business and get it to where you want it to be. Will you soon have someone you can train and trust to either open or close? Are you open 7 days a week? Excellent though that your lunchtime trade is so good. How is your FIL? I read a book over the holidays and it made me think of you. It is a true story about a lovely young woman named Ruthie Lemming who lived in St. Francisville. I will mail it to you once this winter stops rearing its ugly head.

Judy I have a fire all day and night every day. I think of you as I tend to the fire. I need to get some more sage, I didn't realize I was so low. Enjoy your time at home. Knowing you every minute of the day is jammed full of thins to do.

LK are you still on medication? How are your pups doing?

Well the boys and I are ensconced on the bed so I think I will either watch TV or read for a bit. Hoping that the sandman will come see me tonight sooner rather than later.

Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne, Diesel and Duke

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone,

No can sleep, Dianne the sandman must be at your house tonight..nothing but crazy movies on, tempted to go downstairs.

Haven't checked Dianne to see if it's snowing, just taking it for granted that it is, seems all it does. Think I heard a plow earlier...with the amount of travelling you do and if you are not having major repairs I'd not get rid of the escapade..

Not sure the ice fisherman have been out much due to the storms..know my cousin Doug who lives on an island in Cognashene has rarely been to town, more snow than snowmobile or scoot can handle..don't know how one spends most of the winter without a store.

Did you hear of the teen this week who with a life jacket went out on Lake Simcoe, could hear ice cracking all around him, luckily was able to call 911 for rescue?

Big sigh, guess its downstairs I go

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Betty, when you have a quilt on the frame, could you put a piece of plastic over it? That may make Riley pick a different spot for his nap!!!! I'm sure there are plenty of fabrics for him to lie on.....

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Maybe need to rig Riley a higher perch as that's what they seem to like is to get up high.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!

I fell asleep at 8 on the couch last night, Todd woke me at and told me to go to bed, and I slept till 7 this morning. Guess I needed the sleep?

Dianne, I have just today to finish my meds and i am feeling much better. I still have a bit of a cough, but not anything like it was.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Wrote a big post last evening, and, as happens sometime, POOF way it went into cyberspace ..

Sleep .. hmmm .. starting Monday night I will be again getting some ^_^
I tend to sleep with one eye open while at Murrays, just can't fall into a deep sleep .. plus, his 2 Boston Terriers sleep UNDER the covers !! So, I'm always worried I might kick one of them in my sleep ..

Seems everyone is doing OK in here .. I am home right now, missing my poochies and kitter cat .. and, I am safer to shower here .. no bath mat in the tub at Murrs .. had one shower there and was in a panic when I realised the tub floor was slippery ! PLUS, you'll laugh at this one, I went to wash my hair, no glasses on, I'm picking up bottles trying to see if it's shampoo .. with2 teen agers in the house there had to have been at least 6=
-7 bottles of ? for hair .. anyway .. I chose ?something? and, I do beleive it was CONDITIONER or BODYWASH !! At any rate, my hair feels like totally groddy !! (my BEST Cali giurl imitation) hahaha

If I can I'll post a pic of Murray and ALison taken last evening before supper, it's just a beautiful pic ~

Guess I should get the shower out of the way and head back .. ONE MORE SLEEP !!

Take care everyone

Sandman missed me too Betty. Here I thought I was tired but that was all it was ....a thought. Not much on TV at 4 am is there?

Oh M I have been there re hair wash. I was staying at a friend's and when I thought I had shampoo it was really Skin So Soft. Yuck! What a mess I had. Understand about wanting to sleep in your own bed.

Still snowing here. My American neighbours from Webster NY just pulled into my lane wanting to park so they could walk down and check their cottage. I haven't been down since before Christmas and the ice storms but it seems all is well. They had come to Kingston for the weekend to enjoy the restaurants and bars. They looked like they had a great time. lol

think iwill go shovel so the snow doesn't get ahead of me.

Stay warm and dry everyone.
Dianne

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

M, look what a nice time Murray and Alison are having knowing all is in good hands at home. Would be ever so much easier if we could shower with our glasses on. I also have done the same "shampoo" wise.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Karen I tend to think there's lots of people who have been caught on the 'no glasses in the shower '. Very frustrating.. Feel so much better now, back to Murrays to make supper and Gordon will take Austin to bagpipes for 6 pm.

Just testing out this tablet, hope this goes

Hope the sun is shining in your little piece of the world.

M

Verona, ON

Still no sun here M just snow, more snow and blowing snow. In fact the OPP just issued a DO NOT go out on the highway warning. Apparently visibility is just about nil especially on the 401. Betty you were staying in today, right?

Time for me to go shovel again. The plow guy hasn't been in but I imagine he is waiting for this evening in hopes the snow will taper off. He'll definitely be here by 7am as there are a couple of people who need to get out for work. I sure appreciate being retired and not having to worry about that. I spent many a sleepless night over the years worrying about my morning drive.

Stay safe and warm everyone!
Dianne

Not a bad day today. Bundled up Amelia for her first time to play in the snow. I got her a snowsuit but forgot mittens had to use socks today.

Karen, you have any old sweaters around??? Make mittens.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I do have lots of polar fleece, could use that. Thanks for the reminder.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Looky here what I just found. Mittens coming right up.

And look at that sweetie Amelia enjoying all that winter has to offer! Bet gandma's at the sewing machine right now making warm mittens.

Dianne, giving up on the shovelling till the snow stops, can't believe how much fell today. Rita's SIL is driving home from Ottawa in a second hand vehicle he is picking up from his cousin, add cel phone needs charging and his wife now worried about the roads,

Dianne, I haven't been out since 6:30 a.m. Friday morning..think I could very well become a hermit

"M" good looking kids! You are lucky your hair didn't fall out lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

"M" you need to make sure the only thing available in the shower is the shampoo BEFORE you get in!!! LOL

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mittens came out just right, plus she loves them. going to make her more tomorrow. Thanks again LK.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Well Barb, you'd think that was one of the automatic things you do...like making sure your towel is within reach...probably forget that about once a month. LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LK I had missed that you were sick!! I hope you're feeling better soon, this year is bad for all different kinds of nasties!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Where did all of my typing go???

Karen she is adorable!

LOL Marilynne!! I've done that in my own shower before!! The things we forget is hilarious.

Betty LOL Missy is such a crazy cat! Love the visitors she brought in the other day. Tiga did that all the time but Missy has a completely different personality.

Dianne sounds like you have a good deal going there! Fresh fish is always good!!

Debbie where are you??????

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Hi Everyone
I had a long post copied, to paste here, then went and copied the "mittens from a sweater" site for a friend lol

I won't be dancing for St. Patty's day........ I'm Scottish, not Irish lol maybe dance for Robbie Burns dinner, on Saturday tho - nah...... I couldn't jump up & down today at Church, for the Children's Hymn lol

oh my...... I seem to be talking all about me, when I pop in here..... I'm so sorry I'm so self-absorbed lately..... I love all you ladies, and wish all your pain away...... please take care of yourselves.....

My mom's "up & down". She was great the day before I left to return to Calgary, but when I got home I got an email from Alice saying Mom had gotten out of bed (80 lbs, 1/2 cup soup only that day, and complete bed rest), walked 3 steps to a chair and collapsed into it. Good thing her roommate woke up and called a nurse. They got her back into bed and lectured her.
She hallucinates and forgets she has to stay in bed.....
One minute the nurses/Drs are saying "weeks, rather than months" and the next they're saying "she may go back to the semi-care home, so don't give up her room there - could live to 98".
Ladies..........she's 80 lbs, no IV or feeding tube, and is too tired to eat most of the time. I'm trying to be realistic here.

Had something nice happen on Friday - a "living/loving memory" plaque that holds about 100 mini plaques, went missing from the Church while I was away. Everyone looked high & low for it.
Friday night Bob & I went to put away all the Christmas decorations......... I peeked into the music equipment room, and there was the plaque, jammed inbetween the wall and a file cabinet, with only 2" or so showing...... someone deliberately jammed it in there...... don't know why?!?!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning everyone, knew I should have shovelled last night and moved the cars around but was too lazy so up and at it this morning..went into Rita's room to find her car keys and she didn't even wake.

Susan, now what will your sister's do about keeping mom's room? Sometimes one has to be realistic. You don't have to be Irish to do the jig Susan, just ask me. Lol

Crissy, it's this week you go for your arm, here is hoping with each day it's healing and that contraption can be removed and therapy can begin..sorry Joel hasn't found a job..not having one creates it's own stress..I remember when your ex didn't have employment, think that is what caused problems wasn't it.

Booked hotel in Buffalo for Feb 15th..lots of packages to mail so the savings all but covers the cost..Rita and Linda to go, not sure about Suzanne as she babysits most weekends for her daughter. Would be ice to visit with Debie for a bit but she's busy/busy these days..miss her as well

Well, best I get a move on, coffee getting cold

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like your car will be packed again Betty.

Morning everyone!

Thanks Crissy. I am almost back to 100% I got bronchitis New Years morning, and took all my meds, and was feeling pretty good for a few days, them wham it hit again. I finished the last of my antibiotic last night, so I am praying this crud is gone for good!
