very cool idea, typ! I'm sticking with my order from Kinsman, though, for this one... but I can see a lot of places where I could use DIY versions! :-)
Spring Plant Swap 2014 in Lucketts, VA
I wonder if they sell stuff that would work? Eg take critter's lovely archway. Would something like that work for wisteria? I guess the only issue is that it would take more than one archway over time and so there's cost yo consider.
Critter your clematis will look gorgeous on it! :-)
Typ, I saw that DIY arbor and had pinned it too. I think Mike and his brother could make it, and I'm pretty sure we have access to a conduit bender and there is a stash of rebar in the pole barn. It has been added to the project list, but that list is so long I need to prioritize. I doubt it will be ready for the swap :)
Thread is close to 250 posts. Time for a Part 2. Please continue any and all general discussion here:

I have made some small changes to my YUK bed .
Dug out the "nepeta--whatever"--a Cat mint--and potted it up in some pots.
A big one--and a couple smaller ones. These will be available--after they "perk up" a bit.
In that place went the short Goldenrod I bought.
Dug away some divisions from my new England Aster too. Lots of them!
Hard---b/c these multiply by root runners. Tried to get some roots with each one.
Right now--they are still "pouting"....but will perk up in time.
Wanted to make the clump smaller...and will have some to share.
Potted up 5 pots of FMN's--they are blooming away. Will share.
Have 2 pots of "Amaranth Hot Biscuit" I grew from seed...after looking at the pictures--
I don't want it. Too big for my garden. Don't care for the yellow--looks dirty...
The seedlings are already 6" tall--have staked them. Dibs?
MY double yellow Rudbeckia Hirta seedlings ALLcame up. They are all coming along--
under lights--still quite small--but there will be lots available.
I am sure there will be Coleus galore to share.....Considering whether to pinch them
again or not...they are--like--almost full size now. Hard to decide...
Will have 4 small, all green, Hostas from last year. The "Green Fountain" ones.
They are cute and small now...maybe 4"- 5" or so. Came through the winter OK.
Will be digging up a clump of Stellas--to plant a fern I dug up in place of them.
Also--a clump of Tete-a-Tetes right next to it. Gone!
Will plant a Brunnera I got in their places.. It needs to get planted!
Anyway--I am sitting here--mentally trying to think what I have for the swap.
I still need to post them in "my haves"--but will be too short of time this week.
Daughter and her SO arrive Wednesday. I work Tues, and Wed,---nothing is tidied up.
I don't think I want to sit here for hours reading DG--but will when they are running around.
I want to not stress out while they are here--ONLY one week!!...and it is over Mothers Day
to boot--which day I am also working 9-6--and will spend half the day doing my
"Kiddies planting a flower for their Moms" Clinic. I am prepared for 100 kids
to take part in this. It is MY "baby to do....3rd year....
They all will be making me dinner while i am at work---Yummm....
SO--I will be very busy and tired too....
Please do not overwhelm me yet with Swap requests. After the 17th--OK! Please!
****tonight's temps will go down to 43* here....get your tender plans covered or stashed
somewhere....***** Days will be fine.
Gita
Gita, I know what you mean! I'll be more "available" online toward the end of the week, when Joyanna & I are in Pittsburgh... when I know which cuttings struck roots etc, I'll go down through this thread and search for "Jill" or "Critter" to see who posted interest, then I'll post about who is down for some asnd if there are some left. Your approach of "hold off until I post on the haves thread!" also works!
Enjoy your daughter's visit and the HD kids! Happy Mothers' Day Week!

I just dug up a clump of these heirloom primroses from my YUK bed.
Divided it in 5 sections and potted them up. Available....LMK
I have had these forever--in different beds...
I was always stepping on this clump to empty and re-fill my bird bath--
so I thought I might as well dig it up and put down a stepping stone to step on.
Picture is NOT mine.....Googled it.
