7th annual DG Christmas Workshop..now elves need to get busy
Thanks for the new room Betty.
glad you got it Betty....waiting for package, trying to be patient....it is ALWAYS so exciting to do Betty project ^_^
Elfie, I'm here in the Deep South, too! But I don't like this Deep South cold! How many days till Spring? LOL
Look on the bright side, your snowmen will not melt!
I always say, "If it's gonna be this cold, we should get some snow!" *Sigh* Happens about every 8-10 years, Maybe!
SHOES. And why not paint the two little signs at same time
a piece of sandpaper is in your kit..you may have to give it a light sanding..remember this isn't high end woodworking..rather primitive but sand to your heart's content
Step 1: paint entire boot brown (photo 1)
*Note: I left the shoes to show you that 1 coat is not enough
let dry and do a 2nd coat..no need to do the sole because it will be painted black
Now that I've given the boots a 2nd coat and let it dry we come to step 2
If you are confident you don't have to tape off the sole, then go for it..
I taped it to show you
Step 2: Sole taped (photo 2)
Step 3: paint sole of shoe, including bottom with black (photo 3)
Step 4: tape ready to be removed (photo 4)
A quick note..at this point the shoes don't look the best right? you are saying 'yuk' am I right?
We will decorate the shoe tomorrow after given a light sanding to edges to make them look used..once they have buttons, highlight and bow they'll be ready for legs..
we will get to that tomorrow night..it's past my bedtime
it's past my bedtime lol

Betty can you give us a paint list so I can be sure I have what I need please?
Brown
Black
white
off white
misc colors for his scarf
about all I can thinki of
Not sure on what brushes / what painting skills everyone has so I'll try and improvise
photo 1: IF you have a liner brush paint light squiggly lines on side heals of the boot as well as the back
sole of the boot
with wood tip of the brush dip in beige paint and dab a circle of paint and pull out paint to create
edging on boot..you can then dip end of a toothpick into paint and make a few small dots
IF you don't have a liner then you can put a toothpick into beige paint and pull the sole lines
then look for something that has a small end on it i.e. pen, pencil and dip into paint then create
the circle as shown and pull out lines as done above with the liner
Photo 2: sand the boot to have a worn look..I personally like to see 'wood' at most of the edges
**I also sand the entire boot lightly as it softens the painting and smooths the surface
Photo 3: at this point you can glue the string bows to the book
or
make a bow with raffia..I did not use raffia because at the time of mailing I couldn't find any
Photo 4: what the boots look like with raffia
LEGS: (2) does not need painting as they won't be seen
SOCKS: As to have a nice finish of the sock push in the end about 1" on both ends
Questions on the Shoes????

just incase the storm is in your neck of the woods and you by chance get your package today I thought we might do the wine glass candle shade!!
what is needed is a needle..I used a darning needle
I also so I don't bend the flat shade while punching holes in it with the needle have set it on a towel..
WINE GLASS LAMPSHADE
Note: not a lot of glue on the stickers, I'm not so sure I'd not next time put a dab of glue that dries clear on it by rubbing the glue with my finger before setting it on the lampshade
Photo 1: in your kit you should have a lampshade kit - done with watercolor paper
...my placement, put your snowflakes anywhere you like on the shade
Photo 2: along the bottom and top edge I made a design with my needle..
note that when piercing with the needle while the shade is on the towel I lightly pierce
the paper, when all piercing is done then I go back and push the needle through making
each hole larger
Photo 3: I like to see the flicker of the candle so what I did was here and there amongst the
snowflake I followed the snowflake design and pierced with the needle
Photo 4: In your kit is a thin piece of tape, I set it at the edge of one end of the lamp shade,
remove the tape cover and bring both edges together to form the shade
Now I found after awhile it let go..just not strong enough to hold together so a dab of
glue before you put them together would help
hard to see on the poto where I put the white tape and dap of glue but it's there
also want to say at this time that if when you attach the ends together if you inset the tape a little further in it will sit higher on your wine glass
you don't have to use paperclips, the tape I sent should be able to old it together..just press firmly but if you do have clothespins or paperclips, won't hurt!
Betty I got my kit today. Mailman delivered it as I was leaving for the Dr. office for these darn allergies. I will open it when I get home.
that is great news LindaKay, means some if snowed/rained in might be able to play if not at least look at them! lol
As always, am impressed with your mail service
what a wonderful bit of fun that looks like ^_^ thank you Betty !!
you received your kit as well?
no not yet, Just saying thanks....♥♥♥

Waiving Hi!!
OH Liz...hopefully yours gets there tomorrow!!
Big cheerful smiles, Betty mine actually got here on Monday...hehe, I ripped it open soon as i got home from work and today my envelope is going in the mail, sorry, but no surprise it's late again...
Oh yeah, very excited too...lol there is one piece I couldn't figure out where it's going to be!!
Thanks Betty for the Santa piece!
which piece are you figuring out Judy..
do you all have postal service tomorrow or will it have to be next week before the balance of you receive your packages?
Liz...yours is a big box so likely takes longer..wonder why?
Hey, eye brow raise and hands fly to the hips....and why is Liz getting such a big box?
Girl, How many are you doing. haha, yep still nosey over here!
Betty, i'll take a picture...but it sorta looks like a tie?
So, i have to go to the top and search for a supply list...I have the white paint, but am anxious to get all I need..
Yep mail should resume tomorrow, so hopefully everyone's will be arriving.
Was smiling big when Barbara got hers...can't wait to see and hear about Seans excitement when he finds out they have arrived!
omg judy your still at it????????? lol
betty are you going to take a closer pic of snowman?
will do when I get home
Betty, got my package today! Getting my paints ready and will start this tomorrow morning! Thank you so much! ♥
oh oh got my box!!!!!!!
got to get out paints thank you betty
Sean came yesterday and we were going to work on the project until we discovered all the paints and brushes were in storage!!!! He was thrilled to see his name on the package Betty. We will set up a Saturday soon.....
OK! Up early this morning. Got the boots painted and the first coat on snowman and arms! Yay!
Julie is the snowman painted in light tan
Just got back from the city, hospital with step dad all day, had intended to get the next step done in the a.m.
So hold on gals and gent until then
got my wonderful package!!! thanks much Betty. ^_^
I have a lot going on, but I am excited to do this. ♥♥♥
Betty, I painted him white! Just one coat! Did I mess up?
Glad they are arriving!
Julie, you can base coat him off white/tan as a second coat..reason for the off white/tan is because we will texture him with white so he doesn't look flat
First thing this morning I shall base coat and get his body/arms done
Have most of tomorrow off, will sit and do all of our snowman so you can follow through. Likely by then all will have their packages hopefully
