Sweet Interruptions. Rm 271

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You forgot the picture Jaye. No frost here yet. It was 85 today. Supposed to be 60 for the low tonight.

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

In the 70's here, so much better than that miserable hot weather. Hoping to get out and do some much needed work in back yard as long as cooler weather stays.

Mandy nearly gave me a heart attack, she is so afraid of any little noise so why didn't speeding cars stop her..............I'm so thankful for that young gal, saving my fur baby. Staying close to me more than ever now. I wasn't paying too much attention to traffic either and I surely could have gotten hit.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Oh, do be careful out there, Jaye. As we get older, it's so much easier to fall.

We had our first frost night before last and it was a hard frost. Same this morning. The Colocasias now bow their leafy heads back there and droop. All the annuals are gone.

I'm glad everything is okay with your doggie, Pegi. I've been known to do exactly the same thing. I was younger then though. ;)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sisters.

Yes Pegi, you are acting like all mothers should. Act out thoughtlessly when it comes to kids' safety!! I'm glad you had that angel then.

Haven't been out there to check, but Kel said the sheets did their job, he checked under them when he came home an hour ago.
Surprisingly, I didn't get any warning of impending frost from my local channel, but his friends told him about it and he relayed that to me.
There was one brugmansia that's about 7 ft, tall that I can't get to, Carole. I chose to be wise and left it alone. I can always buy a $7 cutting right?

Ahhh.,, I'm sure the elephant ears are gone!! Just yesterday afternoon, I took a pic of it, as the plant returned after 3 years!! Had a bad snow that fateful year with not enough mulching.
From a giant one, to a mini leaf!

The chills that I gotthe night before, I realized where that came from. Kidney infection!! Sis Kathy and I are so close that when she's sick.. I become sick too!! Lolol!!
My urine was dark last night, and I instantly made a half pound fresh spinach soup with slivers of ginger. Ate the whole thing and drank it up. Spinach has some properties that can help with kidney infections. Lucky me to have some.

This morning, the urine's a little lighter. But the back's aching. Will be adding some lemon juice to drinking water.
Anyone with suggestions besides going to the doctor? Used to take Alka Seltzer, but I've been warned not to do that, even bicarbonate of soda.
This is just one side of a Noid tree in it's 3rd flush that I had forgotten to post pic. The other is my lovely returning EE. Hope Mr. Frost didn't kill it. Buds right to the ground. I'm not one to trim the brugs.. let them grow naturally.

Back to bed, will be back later. Have a cool day sisters.

Jaye, the best thing for kidney infections and UTIs is cranberry!!! Being on a low dose antibiotic every day, I get them frequently and a couple of days of cranberry tablets and it is gone and stays gone for quite a while. I swear by them... Haven't had to see the doc for them since I started with the cranberry.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Jaye I agree cranberry is good for the kidneys. Get some plain cranberry juice and don't dilute it.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Make sure it's 100 percent cranberry juice, not the cranberry juice cocktail. More expensive but much more effective.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I didn't mention cranberry, as around here it's just the cocktails that's sold sisters. Nothing 100 percent, Karen, LK. I used to drink that up years ago when I had chronic UTIs back in Louisiana. I think this one here is set by my high sugar the other day.

Barb, since you said there are pills, I will be heading to WM which is OOT, and will try looking for some. I'm sure there's some there.

I'm glad I brought this up! So off to the store!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I buy cranberry capsules at Walmart.

Love the EEs, Jaye ...

What are the upside down jars for? decoration, or are you rooting roses under them?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I recycled the upside down wine bottles (3L) as edging for that bed. :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cool!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

got frost last nite. not a hard one it was lite, butv still to early for frost

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

Cranberry drink is not sold higher than 20% actual juice. You can buy a cranberry blend that is 100% JUICE, but you cannot drink 100% CRANBERRY because it is not a juice fruit. Regardless, as long as you catch the UTI early enough, drinking cranberry juice cocktail will certainly help with the symptoms.

Great news! I was able to bring Kahakaha the kitty home from the hospital on Friday. She was in there for a full week after having been missing for over 7 weeks. She's doing remarkably well and seems to be enjoying being home. Between starting a new job last week, and getting back and forth to visiting hours at the hospital, I've been very out-of-touch. Now the hubs and I are both down with the flu, so plenty of time to watch the kitty recuperate and catch up on all of the discussion boards.

So glad she is home and dong well!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

(((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) For my sisters!!!
My urine is finally clear!! Yay!! That fast!!!! Drank a bottle of Diet Cranberry, from concentrate of course, no blends. The others whether regular straight cranberry or the blends have too much sugar.
Yes, got some cranberry pills too, 500mg strength. Took one at 1 and another a while ago. Just to make sure whatever I have is all gone!
Thank you so much!!

Carole, you won't believe this. I had also made a barrier with wine bottles, for a couple of rose bushes another lifetime ago.
But once here, living in a Baptist county, decorum and Kel made me throw away all the empty wine bottles. Kel said that he doesn't want anyone to know that I'm a closet wino!! Lolol!!!

Lanakila, you can also try to give Kahakaha some Pedialyte. And if she's not diabetic, add a tad of honey or Karo syrup. We did that with very sick kitties. They seem to perk up faster.
Sorry you both are down with the flu. Seems the whole family needs some good healing vibes!
Praise God, you've found kitty.

Sis Kathy, how are you feeling today. I'm proud of you for going to bed early last night. Congrats on Tide's win.

I think the temps dropped to the very low 30s this morning as the brugs were badly damaged. Hopefully some buds can be revived by warmer temps the next few days.

On to my second bottle of Cranberry, and I am glad you all reminded me of this miracle fruit. Thank you again my sisters.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear your doing better Jaye.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Ummmm, I'm afraid the Tide rolled over Tennessee so I can't share those sentiments, Jaye and Kathy. lol.

Well, you don't have to be the one who consumed the wine to have a wine bottle border. You can just be a lover of all things enviornmental and/or recyclable. I'm sure people would assume that though. Hrrummph! Yes, I consumed the red wine ... and still have red wine just about every day. For the health benefits, of course. Also have a bunch of blue beer bottles that will most likely become a bottle tree among other things. It's a Southern tradition, after all. :) I just haven't gotten around to it.

So glad that kitty is on the mend. Looks like she's doing so well. If only she could tell her tale. Well, maybe we wouldn't want to hear it. But indeed happy that she's home and recuperating so nicely!

Well, several nights of hard frost have taken down just about everything. Now it's warming back into the 70s. Yep, it's fall here. Nice leaf color coming on now.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jaye - don't overdo with the cranberry. I use it only until I feel better and then I stop. I'm afraid if I take it all the time, when I need it , it won't work because my system is overloaded with it. I'd rather wait....
Very glad to hear it worked for you!!!

This is my first year with brugs, so I brought them in last week before this last cold night. Two of my kitties are fighting over one particular pot. They seem to like sleeping curled around the base of the plant. One wall in my new office is completely window and it faces East. I'm thinking about taking one of my brugs and a plumeria to overwinter there. I think the plumeria will continue to bloom and it would be wonderful for folks to be able to stop in and smell them! The brugs were started from cuttings in the early summer, so they are about 4 feet tall right now. Do they die back to the soil line, or do they just drop leaves and continue growing taller next year?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

If brought indoors, as long as the temps aren't below 60's, have bright windows, and high humidity, they'll keep on growing and producing buds, (if Y'd) Lanakila. When the interior's too dry, there'd be mites.
The ones I left outside die back but return the following spring.

Thanks Barb. I'll heed your advice. My body's on overload already with all the meds I have to take!

Lolol Carole!! The bad part about me is I'm too honest. Though I only have one friend that comes visit now and then, I'm afraid I might blurt out if she were to ask me where the bottles come from!!
Poor Tennessee, I was actually cheering for them to get more points than that. Alabama is NFL lite.

Too honest isn't a bad thing.

Yeah, the game wasn't even a fair fight. Boring.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's one reason for my failed first marriage, Carole. I was brutally honest and my ex can't take it! :D

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I see. Some can take it and some can't.

Thumbs up for Thoreau!

Since a few of my sisters aren't FaceBook members, here's a pic that might warm your hearts.
Apparently this animal lover has his permit to build shelter for his beloved horses, turned down. Nothing that says he can't build tables and chairs right?

Good way to beat the system!

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

The kitties seem to have come to an agreement. They are sharing the brug!

Awe. Those are so cute. Just make sure they don't chew the plant as they are poisonous.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

AND THE TIDE ROLLS ON!
DEAR jaye and I will be growling at each other in 2 weeks, when the tide comes up against lsu.
ROLL TIDE

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well the Tide may roll but just remember FEAR THE SPEAR!!!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

It looks like there is plenty of area to build on Jaye. Where did this happen? The horses look content.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Lanakila - SO glad your kitty is home, safe and sound!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

I fear nothing lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone.
Kathy your up early. How is your back doing?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sisters.

Barb, that was copied and paste from another site to the site I c/p from!! Could be in some posh English countryside that may demand a brick and mortar building. Who knows. Kudos to the guy that thought of this and still enhance the view!

Lol Lanakila! Same here, got a few cats that loved to curl up around trunks, but I have to spray them away for they'd be throwing dirt all over! Cats are opportunists and can find the most unlikely places to relax!

There you go Marion! You're finally perking up!! The Spear should be rightly at #2 on the BCS standing. I've seen Oregon play, they have a fast and shock offense, a legacy of Chip Kelly.. but their D is nothing like yours. May yours be one of the finalists for that Crystal Ball!

Sis Kathy, I'm fasting till LSU meets your team! Nahhhhh... our D is still incohesive. Maybe next year we will all be on the even playing field with our offensive seniors gone.

Anyone watched S.Carolina's QB saved the day? The relieve QB couldn't do anything. Connor Shaw came in with five minutes left in the 3rd quarter (he had an injury), team was at 0 with Missouri scoring 17 and they went into 2 overtimes to win by a field goal!!! Missou was undefeated till Saturday! Yes, SEC teams eat each other up.

Then yesterday's big men football was truly crazy!! I was rooting for D. Lions, and it looks like Dallas was headed for a win, till the last few seconds! Stafford shocked everyone, even his own team, when after he called for a 'spike'.. he FLEW over to cross the plane and scored!!!!! Giving them a 1 point lead over Romo and company!!

Manning was playing like an old man, limping and young RG3 was stellar in the first half! I was about to throw one kitty to the screen! The second half, Manning found his mojo and YAYYYYY!!! That kitty's lucky!

Ok, I'm calm now. Got my football angst out.
Heading to OOT for groceries and getting materials to finish my Handmade w Love swap.
Will be back.
Hugs my sisters!!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

lol. Still bouncing my basketball here. :)

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

back 8is getting better, but I can't lift my left leg more than 8 inches when i'm sitting

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Gee, Kathy, I hope that gets back to normal soon.
