Sweet Interruptions. Rm 271

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sisters!
Of course Carole, I'll add your DH's special request to my prayers too. Is he drinking enough fluids. Sometimes a little fat can facilitate matters too.

This household is happy to know that you had found your kitty Lanakila. As long as she's eating and drinking, there's hope there. She must have been badly injured, if there are maggots. Maggots kinda clean the dead tissues off her wounds. Kel rescued one with maggots on its leg, and I went berserk. Calm Kel said it's a good sign, and the vet agreed. Can't save Possum's eyes, but it's as healthy as the rest of the cats now.
Our kitties send KahaKaha sweet happy purrrrrrrsss.

That's a cause for celebration Barb!!! Praise God, praise Him! Now you can discard that anxiety hat! May Norm continues to have a clean bill of health. No more doctors' appointments to be slated on your calendar. YAY!!!

Susan, I am still astounded over the audacity of Bob's ex to do such a dreadful thing to him. She knows how much her actions will hurt you both, such an evil person. As I said, God doesn't sleep and karma won't be pretty.

Sue dear, your boss is a wise one. LSU is the team to cheer for. Bad or good, I love the joie de vivre spirit in that team, take a look at our crazy coach. Is Austin interested in football?
Marion, I do hope Noles beat Clemsons. I'm surrounded by Clemsons and it hurts to see them going out in their orange, when they beat LSU last year!
May you NEVER have that problem of getting your comforter out of sorts, tangling up your feet. At our age Marion, we aren't agile contortionists.

Anyway, good for Charles being able to return to work. Has he finished your dungeon?

Pegi, I have a suggestion. Why don't you get a kiddie pool and fill it with fish. Darwin don't have to go far to feed his fishing angst and he doesn't need to purchase a license! Lol!!
But sister, I'm happy that Darwin's spirits are up.

My ex' SIL will have to go through speech and physical therapy. The doctor said she'd have to have round the clock care. She has a daughter and my ex that she can depend on, but I'm sure they'd agree to put her in a nursing home. So said, she was off Coumadin before her toe surgery, then after the surgery, a nurse told her to take 2. None knows whether she did it or not, for soon after, she has that stroke. I don't know the workings of Coumadin, so I'm not comprehending this at all.

It's gonna be a football day for me and LK, since you don't watch football, you will be sewing I deduce? Or better still, take a trip to the stores.

More than an hour ago, I tried to wish Michael a HB. Unfortunately sis Kathy said he has left the house. What a disappointment. I wanted to sing him a HB a la Marilyn Monroe, and for added bonus, in my birthday suit :(

Good thing anyway that he's gone, if not sis Kathy might have to ask for help to pick Michael up off the floor!

Cooking chicken and sausage gumbo here, Kel will be well fed for sure!

Not taking her coumadin could have been ex-SIL's problem Jaye. I know it's a blood thinner to prevent clots. I was on it after having clots in my lungs. It does cause bruising and bleeding though and has to be monitored. I was very happy to go off it. In fact they said six months and I reminded Drs. often and quit right on schedule. I already take aspirin and bruise and bleed at the drop of a hat. Coupled with my thin fragile skin, I look like an abuse victim most of the time.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks for that info Karen. That's what my ex suspected. So, she shouldn't be off Coumadin too long, then for just a simple outpatient surgery.
I can imagine how your arm looks like. MIL has the same issue.
I'm taking just aspirin, which surprised some as I had a bypass.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

I have a stent after heart attack in 95. Keep trying to get some of the meds dropped but no luck.

Glenview, IL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the new room Jaye!

Kathy is about the same, she said she only got sick yesterday 2 times, as opposed to about a dozen, so I guess that is an improvement?

Judy, glad to see you stopping buy, seems like your always busy doing something. Sure hope they get someone hired soon to help you out!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

DH plans on going to see his friend some day this week for some fishing. He has a license, bought for Christmas present by this same friend, and intends to get at least one more trip out of it this year. Years pass by so fast.

I'm off to the garage to do some laundry and maybe get rid of some junk. Just don't know where to start, maybe I'll find something I forgot I had.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Judy !!! love you and Miss you.

Hugs everyone ♥♥♥

Georgia lost , Sorry to hear that to Vanderbilt .
Alabama ROOOOOOOLLLLLLLL TIDE.
sorry Jaye your team is loosing so far to Ole Miss. But i m sure you know that already.
Ok Stanford won over UCLA hoooray. Go west coast !!!!!
yea Buckeyes won too. eh ?
LSU losing 10 - 0 so far . come on Tigers !! do it for the Jaye.

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

Kahakaha the Kitty is doing remarkably well considering the condition that she was found in. Jaye, you are correct that her having maggots feeding on her wounds was likely the best thing that could have happened, since that kept them clean of dead tissue. She is finally feeling "well" enough to have figured out that she feels like crap. She's very, very cranky and it brings me such JOY! The doctor is "guardedly optimistic" that she'll be able to come out of the ICU on Monday. They only have visiting hours twice a day, and I try not to stay more than about 15 minutes because it just poops her out to even hold her little head up, but I count the minutes until I can lay eyes on her again. It's still so amazing to me that she survived more than 7 weeks out there!

It appears that things are looking up for several of our Sistahs here on the board, and I'm truly grateful. I'll pop in again soon to catch up with everyone for real!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the update on the kitty...a miracle indeed.

FEAR THE SPEAR!!

Holly Springs, NC(Zone 7b)

As if the kitty event wasn't enough excitement, tomorrow will be my first day on a new job. Friday was to have been my last day at my old job (moving departments within the University), but I never went in because we found the kitty.

CRAZY weekend with football! The Clemson game, hah! And tonight it made me tear up a bit when Peyton acknowledged the fans in Indy. They really are playing in "the house that Peyton built".

Off to iron some clothes for work. No jeans in the new office. :(
That's ok, I got a nice raise. :)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear you got a raise!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Hope you are feeling good and that the new job is great. Praise the Lord about your kitty and I'll keep her in my prayers. Our furbabies need our prayers as much as our friends do!!!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

jaye, Michael says thank you, and keep the birthday suit. after all it is the thought that counts.
hows come I didn't get chicken gumbo? sounds sooo good. it is quite chilly here this morning. first ive seen fall in 6years. hope that don't mean i'll see winter to.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning my sisters.
LK, I am truly happy that your sister is able to hold some nutritions.

What a piece of another good news Lanakila. Congrats on that raise.
Keep eating KahaKaha, you need all the nutritions you can get to help with your healing.
All your aunties here are in your corner with prayers for your recovery.

Yes Barb, we treat our furbabies like real human babies, and no one can tell us that they're just 'animals' when they're ill!

Thank you for filling in the blanks, sistah Judy!!!!! So good to see you here, and I am certain you are happy busy occupied when it comes to your work. You love challenges and you'll soar!!
Yep, I'll take that route too. Hire someone to fix your garden. Good thing about hiring outsiders, you can be in more control of your gardens.
How is Jake doing? Has he a girlfriend yet.

Congrats on the Cardinals win Sue! They need that win for sure after the Utes upset!
Now they have to do the same thing to Meyers OSU boys.

Didn't come on yesterday, as I was hurting badly from the fall, and moreover it was a sad day for me.
Even though I have only one friend here that I do hang out with, I tend to make friends with many waitresses at the local restaurants. Through the years, whenever I see them, I'll catch up on their family stories.
We were compelled to pay our respects to one whose 23 y.o son died from an accident. No more easy going chats, but tears streamed down my cheeks when I hugged her. She had always bragged about her son, extolling his virtues and she kept us informed on his school performance that Kel and I felt like we have known him for 12 years.
Being a fireman, the county gave him a grand 'sending off' by placing his casket on top of the fire truck. The streets were lined with off duty firemen, police and EMC workers.. yes town folks too, from the funeral home to the grave site.
Hits me hard, to see him laid out in a casket in real life.

Sue, then I saw you in Kathy's griefs. Not a natural thing for mothers to bury their children.

Okay sisters, I'm going into my Monday football tirade here. You can leave the 'room' now if you're not into football!!! Lol!

Yes, it was a weird Saturday full of upsets with the SEC teams. Ranked teams losing to unranked ones.
Manziel Texas A&M got hurt in the second half, that cost his team, allowing Auburn to win by a field goal.
Then Georgia got their butts hurt by little brother Vanderbilts!!
Tennessee beat the crap out of South Carolina Gamecocks. Their star QB was hurt in the 4th quarter I think.
And it come in threes, they say right? Then after that happened, you'd see more. Unfortunately that superstition is true. Our QB was throwing pick 6 and the young defense didn't help neither. We lost by a field goal too.
Weird, weird, weird Saturday!!

Congrats Sis Kathy on Tides win. It's an ugly win, but Razorbacks might be convinced they need a better program. Darn. 52 to nothing... oh well, I shan't say much as LSU might get the same trashing.

Marion, I forced Kel to watch the game!!! I've been telling him of how awesome "J Boo" is, and he's impressed! Finally, the rest of the football world took notice of this great, humble quaterback and I love how the team make their appearance on the field with not much fanfare while those Clems had fireworks and balloons and the 'rock' to make a grand entrance. Dabo think he's a rock star!
That's over the top for a college game, even by LSU standards!!
Oh what a trashing!!! Move over Johnny Manziel, here cames Jamieson Winston!! Why oh why didn't LSU pick him up??
Anyway, if Miles had recruited him, he won't be a starter till he's in his senior year.. like Mettzenberger!
Congrats Marion, your team is now ranked #3 on the AP poll. We had the game recorded too.

I watched the Oregon ducks play, and they shouldn't be at number 2. Their defense isn't as impressive as your Seminoles. Hehehe, I think I heard one announcer saying that the 'Noles defense is like an SEC defense. Nope.. Seminoles has its own brand of football now!

Lanakila, I got teary eyed when I see the pouring of love and respect the Colts fans gave Peyton. At the end of the game, it proved the wonderful character Peyton has by returning acknowledgements on the field from his former team mates, assistant coaches and to those that he used to brush shoulders with, like the stadium security personnel.
"The Stadium that Peyton Built" The Colts must never forget that.

Did Michael enjoy his surprise, Sis Kathy? I mean, his brother, of course not me!!
Oh, the gumbo's gone! Made roux from scratch and Kel had 6 big servings! Didn't have enough for the next day. You know how gumbo's better the next day.
Next week, I might do a shrimp and okra gumbo. I know I'll have the pot to myself, Kel's not into seafood nor okra! Yep, bad me.. he can have pizza!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Jaye, I sure hope your soreness is letting up!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Kel said I might have cracked a rib, LK.
I don't think so. The sore is right under my right breast. It's all blue there. Took extra painkillers last night. Might have to do the same in a while.
Thank God for crockpots. Roast pork's ready for Kel and all he has to do now is to open a can of green beans.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Seriously you could have cracked a rib. Might better have it checked.......not that they can do much but wrap you. Then again, they don't do that much any more either.

I stayed up and watched the game Jaye, until I thought the Noles had a good enough lead. I was really surprised as it has been 12 years since they have won in Death Valley. I was talking to Charles about them yesterday and he said they are that good. Much lower keyed with their talking this year....needed to happen that is for sure. I was totally impressed with Famous Jamious....so cool under pressure.

Sorry ladies but I like football too. :-)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye, I agree with Marion, get some of that pretty fabric you have and have Kel wrap you up in style! ER's are not much help with broken toes or ribs!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oh my.. great suggestion LK. I think I'll do that. Might stop the hurt too when I breathe.

Marion, it's Jimbo's year for sure! That man isn't going nowhere! And Jamieson is such a natural leader on and off the field.

Piece of bad news. Kel's cost for family insurance has just been raised to almost $700 a month. You all know I've been looking forward to Affordable Care insurance for myself. That's not going to happen as NC is one of the 29 red states that rejected the Medicaid expansion, and hence made ACA unaffordable. Our stupid governor said there's always the ER for folks like me.
ERs in the long run will cost more to the state :(
Guess I'll die early.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Lanakila - so glad that KahaKaha is doing better - has the strength to be cranky lol

Oh my.. such pain and heartache - prayers for you, and all you hold dear - The Lord will provide....

Jaye - do Not say things like this - surely The Lord will provide for you as well - you're one of his blessed "lilies of the field", just as I am..... he will look after us both, if we only release our troubles to him.

It's election day here, and I know who I'm voting for...... the current alderman, and current Mayor.
They're both trying to get us good housing when this mobile home park is demolished and our mobile homes are bought out by the City.
Last night I spoke to our alderman, and even if not re-elected, he will still be able to work with the residents of the park, to get this worked out for us.......

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jaye you need to keep trying to get signed up for disability.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Will be my 4th try, LK.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Keep it your prayers Jaye, this will be your lucky time to get approved! You need to get a good lawyer, they don't charge you unless they win, and the fee is taken out of your check when you get it!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I think that all lawyers are on contingent basis when it comes to claiming disability.
I'm living in the wrong state LK. Not having worked for years hurt too.
As I had said, if I were living in SC, there are medical programs set up for people like me that fall through the cracks. I asked Kel's family who lives in MB whether I could 'borrow' their addy.. none would help.

Okay enough of feeling sorry for myself!

Got your birdhouses LK! Thank you!!! Love my LSU birdhouse, you're so thoughtful.
Yours and Karen's are ready to be mailed. Thank you again!

Go Tennessee and Vandy! The Titans didn't fare so well.

I'm glad to hear the good news here. It lifts our spirits indeed. And praying for those with sorrows. I know how that is.

Have a good rest of Monday.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes, proud of Vandy! About time for Tn to show some spunk, Carole.
So.. you'd be following SEC?

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Yes, sort of. :)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Awesome Carole!! How's your DH by the way? Does he follow fb?

Kahakaha is back home now! I'm pretty sure Mama Lanakila will be watching her like a hawk.
Poor baby, found just in time. Praise God.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

THANK YOU JESUS!
AND THE TIDE ROLLS ON.

glad texas a&m lost. maybe this will put johnny who in his place. sorry, but I lost all respect for him last season

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear kitty is back home!

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Me too ... happy about the kitty news!

Jaye, DH knows a lot more about fb than I do. He follows it but not fanatical about it. BB is our sport. He is better in some regards but still has the Foley cath that is driving us both nuts. He doesn't make a very good "patient".

It's raining here this morning.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning sisters.
Cool and no sign of rain yet here, Carole.

How long must your DH have that Foley catheter on? Poor DH, not only must he tolerate the discomfort, but he he has to drink at least a gallon of water a day. The aggravation you mentioned must be making sure the tube remains straight.

I fell asleep around 5 this morning.
At midnight, nausea hits me, and I know it's not something I ate as my stomach was empty since 8 that night. I had only one small bowl of rice porridge with some soy pork. My mind started to be in a fog.
Lola all of a sudden got up and started pawing at my chest. Told myself to better check my blood glucose again. Read this sisters, at 9, it was at 210. Which was normal after meals.
Well.... bg hits 412! Talk about a fright. I have never hit above 300 since the heart surgery. I gave myself 70 units of Humalog and 50 units of the long acting Lantus.
Called up Kel at work and told him what happened and for him to keep checking on me.
Got on Facebook, wanting to ask for prayers on my page. There should be a friend who's online and would see it. Then, ,God's grace, a fellow prayer warrior was 'chatting'. Immediately, I wrote on her wall to pray for me.
Michelle, from her home in her Houston, prayed along with me. She stayed with me until I checked myself one hour later. Supposed to be 2 hours after the shots but I can't wait. Praise God, numbers went down to 252. Praise God, praise God.
Around 3, pricked myself again, it was 212, Gave myself another Lantus shot, 30 units more.

I don't know what causes that spike. Could be my pancreas is getting worse. Or some stress triggers it. This morning it's around 102.

Hopefully, I can avoid the insulin pump. I know I'd get continuous insulin, but you all know the rest of the story... So in the meantime, I just have to prick myself more often.

At that time when I went on FB, Michelle was actually posting that she's quitting that site! Told her that it was divine intervention as the Lord doesn't want her to stop her proselytizing on FB! Where can we find 'midnight' angels when we need prayers!!

I sure don't want to wake my church sister up nor make Kel return home.

So that was my 'excitement/scare' this morning.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

take care of yourself jaye. am praying for you

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you my sister. Love you too!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Praying for you to Jaye! Glad that Lola woke you up!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jaye - not for anything but Norm's nephew hit over 600 and he is fine now. Norm's hits around 300 fairly frequently and he is okay. Normal for him is around 190-200. His metabolism is such that if he takes more insulin at 200, his numbers go up!!!! I know everyone is different and I just want you to know that my prayers will be with you for some kind of leveling off of your numbers.

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

I agree. I'm adding my prayers for that.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thank you LK.. thanks Barb. Prayers are very much appreciated.

I have a friend that hits 500 and she'd be fine, and if her sugar goes below 300, she can't function.
Me, got to hit above 140, under that, I have the shakes. Somehow my doctor keep telling me that I should try to keep it around 110!!! Yikes!!
Kel is also like Norm. He can function at 300, but I think too it depends on the weight.

400 was scary, cos when I had my heart replumbed, the number then was around 500.
Another factor for the nausea could be bad acid reflux. I'm out of Protonix and OTC stuff doesn't seem to help.

Had two dry toasts for lunch, I think I'll just boil cabbage for supper. Back to a bland vegetarian diet.

Thank you very much my sisters.
