SANTA WARREN'S 3rd. CHRISTMAS EXCHANGE

Dianne Wrote:

There is no $$ limit on your gift(s) as we decided it would be exactly as if you were buying for a good friend. I know I certainly look as all of you on here as family; Your gift can be handmade or not. Excellent idea to look back and see what everyone got in their parcel. Part of the exchange is posting photos of the contents of your parcel. I'll enlist Duke this year to match up the names.

Betty,
Dianne
Barb
Marilyn
LK
Thunder
Mary
Marion
Debbie ?
Judy

DID WE MISS ANYONE

Thinking if we have the parcels mailed out by Dec 1 everyone should receive theirs before Christmas. Well we can't count on my mailman but he's just special. Could I please have your answer by Fri Oct. 14. (p.s. Betty changed Dianne's 11th to 14th so that some who post more on vacation can see it)
That way we can get the names out early.

If we miss your name please let us know...

OUCH, re your knee Betty, take 15 minutes to elevate your leg and ICE the knee, works so well ..
Have an 80th BDay 'do' to go to today for a cousin, should be fun, haven't seen many from my Dad's side of the family in a long while.

Sue do hope Meaford is a success .. enjoy!

Must go back to the other thread, I take it Dianne is perhaps in need of a hug ?

PS misting and dreary here ..

DGSs wedding shower is today, Very strange for our family we are used to being the hosts and in charge. Limits? we have to limit our guests? No kids at the reception? We've booked rooms in a hotel with indoor water park, kids will have pizza party and then go play at the pools. Ah well what my daughter gets for having all boys.LOL

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Betty, one of the ladies I clean for has two bad knees. She says that she turns around and goes down the stairs backwards. Says it's much, much easier on the knees. Just thought you might want to know! Have fun in Meaford. Since I was there and in the tent, I will be picturing you there! Have fun! ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Am back, tired out, Linda and I made quite the pair limping. Lol

My car was full, bought the lovelies fall wreath for over the fireplace, black rod iron pumpkin candle holder, candle etc .. Specialty lights to set on fireplace which dance, am sure I will love it at night, good thing is after Halloween I can use it for Christmas decor

Joyce picked up a Dresden plate Christmas tree skirt, wonder who said she needed one as hers got ruined in basement flooding

A Victorian Santa think he is holding a snowshoe, should be great for a Christmas gift..

Would it sounded badly of me if I said I found it hard getting excited about much seeing as I knit/paint/sew/stained glass and can do a lot of what was there?? Not boasting, am sure some of you feel the same

Joyce thanks for the going downstairs backwards hint, going to try that!

Ohhh even picked up round rocks to pant into pumpkins. Lol

Hot bath waiting

Loveeeee my fall wreath now that it is hanging over fireplace

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OH my Betty, sounds as though you had an UBER glorious day! Enjoy that wreath .. I have one hanging on the back door, only a dollar store one, but, it is such a cute thing .. my DGD thinks it's just THE BEST, so, even after 3 years, it stays!!

I'd be carefi=ul with using reverse to go down the steps .. only because you'd have to be EXTRA vigilant as to what was behind you, but, I'm sure you would be if you thought it worked ^_^

Went to my cousins 80th BDay today .. she looks fabulous!! Her past 18 months have NOT been easy on her .. bowel cancer with surgery and chemo, a fall and she broke her hip .. anyway .. tough Irishwomen that we are, she has risen above trials and tribulations and with her super family to help, the 'Come and Go' was wonderful !! Glad I went as there was a space of time I thought I wouldn't .. today it is DAMP and cool, and my bones are aching, not just my hip either :-(
Have attached a pic of Claraine.

Enjoying a glass of wine, and, the FIRST woodstove fire of the season !!!!! Funny, Lilly is in her 'BUN' right in front of the woosdstove (the cat beside her in his), and Piper is stretched out on the floor in the kitchen .. he does NOT like the heat ..

Off to conjur up supper ..

Omg, "M" those critters are just too adorable!
Your Aunt sure doesn't look 80..

Yes went to grandma lams, like the craft show facilities you couldn't move..did buy individually packed bags of perogies, apples, fruit, bread right out of the oven..thought I'd put spaghetti on then stopped at Swiss chalet, ordered 1/2 ribs/1/2 chicken, ended up eating about 1/4 of it so the rest is in the refrigerator for tonight..no need for bread to go with spaghetti..perhaps tomorrow.

Dianne, the area near where the lady sells the cabbage patch type doll was at a standstill, you couldn't move at all. In the 2nd building there is one vendor who does extremely well, no word of a lie, both Linda and I wanted I Christmas piece and we counted 37 people in the pay line..like that every year, you would think they would move her to another location as it doesn't seem right to block 5 vendors..we ended up putting our pieces back

Now I did think of you at the Meaford factory warehouse, the had about 10 different stained glass lamps, huge, some 2 pieces on metal rod to hang over a table or kitchen work space, know not same quality but I was really impressed even more so when it was $59 .99

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty you should make your crafts and sell them.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I think so too. You would make more than enough to support your habits!!!!! I'm talking about buying fabrics and paints and gadgets!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You girls so know there is no money really in selling such wares!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

I agree with you Betty, especially when your 'wares' are for the LOVE of the craft, not the money, but te memory.

Sounds like a busy venue fer sure !!

Feel like applesauce, crab apple tree got hit by frost but I did get enough for a few bowls..cooking now, that will be my bedtime treat!

Seems different expecting someone home, Rita was meeting up with her family today then going back to her house for more packing up..if she stays for a few weeks or so I will get a key made for her..only time I lock up now is bedtime, everyone here was giving me the what for not doing so.

Sharon called and said her back wasn't all that bad today, she is trying to get a dog sitter so she can come up Thursday night and finish her quilt..in the meantime Linda may come in the morning to do her two pillow shams to match her quilt..guess there is no rest for the wicket

Oooh see lights in driveway, guess my houseguest is home, just in time for applesauce. Lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh fresh applesauce! Lucky you having access to such good ones.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

Mmmmmm applesauce sounds so good. Love it fresh & war.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Agree.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was delicious..Rita brought home yogurt ice cream and chocolate syrop as added bonus, then a bowl I'd applesauce..don't think I was within my calory intake today.

Comedy in bed, used to early nights, if Rita will stay awhile I have to get used to my doing my thing and she doing hers..

Does take a bit of getting used to someone else in the house

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all

Ok who has the sunshine

high winds and heavy rains..

Brrr. Even turned up the heat

Rita just left, although she is exhausted she is forging through last few days of packing..only has until Wednesday as new owners take over Thursday. barb, you know how big her house is so not an easy task to move what she has, with rain today and open trailer not the best..she might have to wait until tomorrow to do that part.

Linda wanted to come and do her pillow shams, not here yet, doesn't like to drive in inclement weather so perhaps she won't come and I shall get to play on my own today.

Have swiss chalet for lunch, took out spaghetti sauce so no cooking today..can life get any simpler? Lol

LindaKay, how is your nephew and your sister?

Debbie, Paul home?

Here is my pretty wreath and black rod iron pumpkin on the mantle

Morning, even though that was a couple of hours ago when SMOKEY meowed to the world, that, if HE is up, we should ALL be up!!
I took the early shift.

Made 6 containers of applesauce the other day Betty, first time putting a bit of vanilla in it, turned out well!! Would go very well with Frozen yogurt :-)
Cooked pumpkin last night, so, am getting ready to make a pumkin pie, and, DH has said he'll peel the apples for an apple pie as well.

MY GOSH, re Rita! Does she have any help at all ?? I can't imagine taking on a task like that, I'd likely have to call in a company .. mind you, I guess there's lots of stuff she's refinding ..

Rain here yesterday and today.. looks like they did get snow out west ... brrrrrrrrrrrrr ...
The first fire in the woodstove went over well with the animals, but boy oh boy, it sure gets warm in here when it gets going !! Fire going = windows open LoL

Well, those pies are not going to make themselves ..

Have a good day

Still downstate, hoping the weather will clear so we can go to grandson's football game before heading home. Don't especially want to drive in the rain either.

Shower yesterday was very nice, love spending time with family. DGS & fiance loved the tree skirt & ornaments. As soon as they were opened he said "Grandma you win again" Made me feel so good. There is a matching small circle that would make either a good skirt for a table top or a dinner table centerpiece. I didn't bring it but asked and they said they would love to have it too. When I cut the wedges for the tree skirt, the in between wedges can make into the smaller piece, kind of a freebie.

Victoria Harbour, ON

"M" don't you dare mention the word snow..yikes, much too soon!

Missy and Riley got into it this mornimg,..I left Riley in and ca't fight began.

Guess Rita not knowing how many $$$ she will end up with wants to save every penny..right now the house on Lake Simcoe Gerry will live in, she is exhausted and hasn't even thought where she wants to live and buy/rent, house/condo/apartment??? So in the meantime she will have a safehouse here with me.

"M"' Are your pies for Thanksgiving? How can you cook the pumpkin pies so early for them to be fresh, you don't freeze them do you?

Likely Friday or Saturday I will get into the pie mode..4 pumpkin, 2 lemon merangue,2 apple,1 blue berry and 1 cherry..that ought to fit everyone's likes, kids like taking pies home with them when they leave.

I have to decide if I want Foodland to debone my turkey, guess I should go in today and order in the size I want and book a time to bring my dressing to them..or just stuff a regular bird..have to ask the kids to bring a couple of beer over this week so I'll have them to baste it.

Hard to believe Thansgiving is this weekend isn't it

Karen, your homemade gifts (time and love that goes in to them) cant but be the best gift ever.they will cherish them each year as family gather for Christmas.

Always the thing for wedding showers, which young couple has Christmas ornaments to start their first year..great gift.

Can you not stay another day or so as not to be driving in the rain?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Cool here today. We had a cold front come in yesterday afternoon, and out temps dropped from 85 to 55 in about 15 minutes! I had to go put some sweats on! It was 45 when we got up this morning!
Betty, I love that wreath! It is so pretty!

Betty, Steve is doing very good, but my Sis is not. She still can't walk. About all she can manage to do is get out of bed to a wheel chair, go potty and get back in bed with the help of the nurses! This has been going on for 3 weeks now, and I told her she needs to tell the Dr.'s to do something. Her laying flat on her back is not good! She has lost 43 pounds in 3 weeks since she had her stomach surgery, and the Dr. told her that is too much too fast, so she may have to have more surgery for that!

Lyndonville, NY

Morning,

Yes, Paul came home Friday afternoon about 4:30.

Love the pumpkin wreath, very pretty!!

We have had heavy rain for two days. Looks like a short break in the rain, but more due.

Betty, hate to tell you this, but DS already had snow out in Colorado last week. Sigh.

Maryville, TN(Zone 7a)

We're very big on special ornaments. Always used to go to downtown Detroit Hudson's every year for a few. Kids got a new one every year and it's a favorite wedding gift.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg LindaKay, that is far more weight than anyone should loose in such short of time, could it be something far more serious going on?? Just the weight loss would be enough to make her so weak..she is not alone is she??

Wow that is a chilly morning for you..brrr

Debbie, you better duck, throwing the rocks I'm painting orange at you for mentioning 'white stuff'. How is your new wheels??

Karen, understand about the ornaments..each year my grands get an ornament, mostly ones I've made, few bought, couple from travels to Frankenmuth..they have containers for them, when they leave home I'm hoping all remember their box of Christmas goodies.

Reminds me, every year since Roger died we put an ornament on the tree for him, should purchase ornament box to put his in so when something happens to me they will know which are more special..

I've a coup,e from my great grandmother, more than 100 years ago, don't even want to hold them as they are so paper thin..

Victoria Harbour, ON

which side of the rock hit you Debbie, painted or side yet to be painted..maybe you were quick enough to duck..

My Sis had her weight loss surgery three weeks ago, She was home from the hospital for 3 days, and they had to call an ambulance, as she could not walk. They found out that she has bulging disc's in her lower back. Kathy is the one that believes that she should not have anything done to her back, as it will cause damage! I told her last night that if she does not do anything she will lay there and die! She needs to at least have an injection in her sciatica, if not surgery.
She has lost 43 pounds, because since she had her weight loss surgery, she has had severe nausea, and can't hold anything down. The Dr.'s are also concerned about her nutrition intake!
But I was very forward with her last night when she called, and told her she has to do something, or she would not return home!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You must be so worried LindaKay..think I'd have opted to stay heavy vs taking a chance with some of the nightmare I've heard about after having it

Lyndonville, NY

OUCH! Betty, rock throwing not nice. And it isn't here...its Colorado!!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LindaK, something is fer sure NOT right with Kathy. I know several peeps who have had bariatric surgery and their weight loss over MONTHS has been SLOW and steady, and, they EAT .. not a lot, but, they eat, most especially protein.
I wish your sister all the best, but, if she doesn't make a decision soon, she could be in a peck of trouble!

Betty, DH LOVES fresh pumpkin pie, and, he goes to the market every Saturday morning, and, I am on my THIRD pumpkin pie .. they usually last a week .. plus I've been making apple pies to use up the tree apples .. I told him that I now have WAY enuff pumpkin!! Have about 3 bags of pulp forzen and can now make'em during the winter ..
WOW, you sure make lots of pies at Thanksgiving ! I'll have pumpkin and apple and MAYBE a lemon meringue.

DREARY here .. soon as the pies are done we are on to making dog food .. by the time that's done it'll be time to cook supper ... whew, be ready for bed early tonight fer sure!!

Buzzer is goin

~M~

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

OH LK, so sorry your sis is going through this. Certainly not fun, and you so far away. :o(

Betty...did you say a tree skirt? Seems to me I did hear that someone needed one. What do I owe you? Can I pick it up in Frankenmuth?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh so you saw I hadn't forgotten you..as soon as these projects are finished I'll get it done

step 1, buying the pattern lol

pies, "M", kids love to joke that I could have 50 people attend Thanksgiving and each take a doggie bag home..one think I always worry about is someone going home hungry

last years 'pies'

Oh wow! And I have to wait til NOVEMBER????? Those pies look amazing!

Betty, do you want me to buy and send you fabric? I will, if you tell me what and how much to get.

Hello and good day everyone!!

Whew, it has been a serious whirliwind for us here...
everyone is good and BUSY.

As of late, i've been working and working and working my tale off.
As you know the job is still very new...I have a good understanding at how things are run, We have a fantastic start of a team, and our efforts to work together has paid off big time!!!
for the second time since i've started at this store, We are in the lead and this time We hit Bonus!!!!
I can't tell you how happy i am, the first time, at the other store we just missed it, so this is just too cool. Not to mention it really helps all the frustration, My Gosh, We actually pulled it off.

So, i think i've got the weekends off now. My schedule is still going to be crazy, half the week I close and the the other I open, either way i still am pulling 10 hour days, lol better then 15....Those of you who know me, I bet can just feel my excitement, I was celebrating all weekend, tonight a fire, offering prayers of Thanks.

So between yesterday and today, did all my house cleaning, lol the dustbunnies have cob webs! Also finishing up on my swap, then it's the last one for a while. Just feel awefull for not being able to work on it, lol and I can't stand the "guilty" feeling for not coming to visit.

On the second was my Mumm'as 12 anniversary, I was glad i had to work that day as it kept my mind occupied...When i got home at 10:45 My family summond me directly to the back yard. They had prepared a memorial fire for Mumma, including a photo of the two of us and sage. It was just beautiful.

I enjoyed it until midnight and just couldn't stay awake any longer.

This weekend is particularly rough as it is Bears anniversary and that one is always bad on my heart.
Steve and i are going to the cottage, i am going to invite my brothers and sister to see if they want to join us...

Not much else other than work....
Betty, i so laughed out loud at your Witch Corpse...bummer that Mrs, Noseworthy got broke? Going to put mine out today...A fun day just to decorate, first time in ages to Decorate before Halloween!

OK, off to finish up so i can play!

Hope you are having a good Sunday!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congrats on the bonus Judy. I knew you could do it!

Verona, ON

Oh Betty you are going to make 'yes' pie. I will never forget the first time I heard of 'yes' pie.DH's family was very big on 'yes; pie. I laughed and laughed when I figured out what it was.

Talking to a friend who is exhibiting at Meaford and she says it is better than last year but all the real business unfortunately goes to the resellers. It breaks my heart that people who import are even allowed into a so called Craft show. One year at One of a Kind a company slipped through the jury process. They were allowed to finish out the first day but were shut down completely that night. There was an eager artisan in that spot the next morning all ready for business. The artisan got the call to come about 2 pm in the afternoon - he lived in Windsor. So he had to pack his wares, drive a few hours and begin setting up at 11 pm. He was more than glad to be sleep deprived just to have the chance to be at the show.

Rainy, dreary day here. M you just might have the right idea having a fire.
D

Verona, ON

We crossed Judy.... I am so happy to read things are going well at work. Busy is good!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

So glad to see you back posting Judy, been missing you like crazy!

wow, bonus time and what pray tell will you spend it on? Know there has to be a list a mile long but this first bonus spend it on you..

These anniversaries are always difficult, heart breaks all over again..mamma and Bear so close to same dates..will do you good having family with you, hooe they accept the invite

How did you make out with the cottage rentals this summer?
Hooe all went well and more $$ in your pocket.

Joyce, you can always make a trip across the border for our thanksgiving and work on tree skirt with me..no, I'm ok with fabric unless you don't like it scrappy?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yep, a lot of 'yes' pies. Lol

What was your friend exhibiting Dianne!

Yes lots in attendance, but as a potential buyer it was much too crowded, barely able to move let alone stand in lineups.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Scappy is good... ^_^

YAY Judy!
