Sheila, please set aside a white and a pink Mexican petunia for me, a lyreleaf sage, and a frost weed for me. I was thinking since we have moved our RU, I could meet you on Saturday, or maybe get Marty to bring them back.

2013 N Central TX RU Oct. 20th in Arlington TRADE THREAD #1
Sheila -
I'd be glad to take the 'coral nymph' salvia off your hands.
I'll put in a placemarker for now - hopefully I'll have something to offer by the day!
I will put you down for petunias & Frostweed Joy; and Coral Nymph Salvia for you flower_child.
Thank you, Sheila.
Josephine, I know you haven't put any thing up yet, but I'm wondering if you have that wonderful elephant garlic to share. I so enjoyed growing garlic last year (first time, and I didn't do everything right), and I would love to grow the elephant variety this time. If you don't have it, that's ok. I totally understand.
Yes I do Sybil, and I will save some for you.
I need to update my wants list - frostweed goes on it Sheila. Anything that blooms in fall ranks highly with me as a want, I have bees foraging that I forgot to feed today.
I will amend list after Bones....

I will be digging lots of Narcissus Sybram, hadn't divided them for 12 years, divided this spring and my gosh there were a lot. I owe you one for my beautiful Ice Plant I think
You don't woe me anything, Gypsi, but I will enjoy having Narcissus (for the first time).
What are some fall and winter bloomers in your area, Syb? I know asters would work and there are several varieties. I have some Ageratum or East Texas Mistflower but dont know if it's hardy in your area. There are chrysanthemums which would work. I have a wild poinsettia that is just starting to set red bracts that Ilovejesus gave me that is really great looking but I only have the one she gave me in the spring. Maybe someone up there would have some to share. I have some golden rod that blooms sept and oct. Are you interested in that? Also, I have firespike which blooms now until end of November here. The Confederate Rose Hibiscus blooms in oct nov but it might be too cold for it there. let me know if interested in any of these.
chrysanthemums bloom here in fall and winter. They are easy to start in May or june from cuttings from an adult plant, but mine died of drought when it was 5 or 6 years old. blue mistflower lives here and blooms in fall, it is winter hardy. (I know you were talking to sybram, but I should turn this computer off and go to sleep and I haven't..)
Steadycam, I have Mother-of-Thousands that I would love to share. I know it has many names, but I don't know them. Would you like that?
Sybram, I would rather you save me a Tropicanna. The MOT gets too tall for the bowl Im creating. Thanks for thinking of me and my succulent phase.

Dennis, I would love agave splendida and agave neomexicana if still available.
Gypsi, I would love the peach iris too if you have enough.
Sybram - is your fern evergreen?
Bananna18 - if reminded right before the RU, I can bring some coffee grounds. Do you have a preference on coffee brand? (Just kidding. I'll be trying to score from Starbucks if that's ok.)

Anna, I'll put you down for the agaves. You're the first one to request any!
By the way, I have a chitalpa tree in front of my house. Chitalpas are sterile hybrids, so I have no volunteers. You are welcome to drop by and take some cuttings if you would like to give that a try...
Txflowerchild, are you interested in Virginia Blue Fern, Polypodium pseudoareum? If so, you could save me a couple hanging baskets or large red clay pot. What about asparagus fern? I have that also.
banana could I have a john fanick phlox?

I have some Drosera filliformis for you Dennis if you want them.
I'm definitely interested in the drosera. Thanks! I might have a small hechtia texensis. Are you interested?
I would be if I knew what it was.
Oh yes, if you have one I would love it. How much sun does it like?
That red one is a knock out!
I just got mine about a month or so ago. It had a baby coming up next to it so I separated it and it seems to be surviving. I'm not sure how much sun it needs, yet. I have it in a pot that I will move around until I find where it is happy.
Did u get it from Yucca Do nursery?
No, I got it from a place in Houston called Cactus King. It sounded really cool. It is the only bromeliad native to the continental US.
Steadycam - I'm not sure what the Virginia Blue Fern is. I need ferns that can live outdoors in Dallas, 24/7. Prefer them to be evergreen as opposed to deciduous. Asparagus fern, altho lovely, is a houseplant, unless I'm mistaken.
I'll be glad to save a hanging basket or 2 for you and will have a variety of clay pots and plastic ones. When you say 'large', how large is large? (approx.)
Not sure if all of the hanging baskets have the 'saucers' attached. Does that matter to you?
Will check back later.
Frostweed -
I now have so many irises of my own that I think I will politely decline your kind offer of a purple iris. I'm sure that someone else would be delighted to have it and I would feel too greedy to accept it. (One of my neighbors has a large bed or purple irises that I will be dividing.)
However, you have some plants that I'm certainly interested in.
Having done some homework on your 'handle', I would very much like to try my hand at a Frostweed.
I'd also like a Flame Acanthus if still available.
You do have more plants that I'm interested in, but for now. let's leave it at Frostweed and Flame Acanthus. Please and thank you.
Thanks, Dennis! I just might come and take a snip. What color is it?
Marty, I think I can get you one or two semps. I find they are very fussy about the kind of soil and amount of sun. I have lost many but atleast have one happy one.
Cheryl, I will pot up the phlox for you. Just want to let you know it will spread ( not too aggressively)but easy to pull up.
I considered ordering one a while back but just couldn't believe it would be ok here. I actually think it was another species that was supposed to be hardy to zone 8.
C
TXflowerchild, here is an article from your Dallas Morning News about ferns for Dallas. You guys have the fern guru right there in Dallas. The article recommended virginia blue for your area. Both the Blue and the Asparagus are winter hardy here but Im 2 zones from you.

Steadycam - Thanks for the article. I knew some of the ferns mentioned, half at best. Was very surprised about the maidenhair fern. I've been warned (admonished?) at several local nurseries b/c it's so hard to resist touching them. Apparently, they don't like like to be petted. Or that could be a myth.
So yes, I would be delighted to trade those hanging baskets for a Virginia Blue Fern. And as I said, I'll be bringing some red clay pots, but give me a clue as to the size you want. I'm sure that they'll be among the last things to go into my car and I could be worn out by then. Oh, snap. My bad. Prob. should load them first.
I really love Asparagus ferns and grew them long ago and far away. But I'm reluctant to bring plants inside to overwinter b/c I have a very curious and unpredictable cat.
Anna, my chitalpa is the white variety.
O.K. Flowerchild, the Fame Acanthus and Frostweed are yours.
Thank you, Josephine.
BTW, the main reason I'm not asking for more of your plants, aside from greed, is that if I do get to attend one or both of the native plant sales, I think my $$ goes to those worthy societies. Please let me know if I'm wrong and the money from sales only goes to individuals. (I'm sure they are worthy individuals, but I hope you know I'm just having fun in saying this.)
