I've bought this plant cuz it is very decorative. In danish it's called "silver tree" and I guess it is the same as the "wirenetting bush", as it is called in english.
Is this plant not supposed to be a bush and not a tree like mine? I know the plant is bound to a stick, but is that to make the bush grow upright or is the only purpose of the stick to keep the tree from not falling to the sides?
Also, is there anything I need to know about this plant?
Thanks
Wirenetting bush, how to take care of it?
If you have a botanical name for the plant that would be better. The plant I know as Silver Tree is really different, and I do not recognize wirenetting bush as a common name.
Is this Corokia cotoneaster? If so, I know it as a shrub (bush) that does not need staking unless you want it to stay more upright. Without a stake it tends to grow all over the place, wide, not quite hanging but it can spread a bit, as well as up.
I think the stake is a good idea in the house. Gives you a place to tie the plant and keep it in bounds.
That is exactly the latin name. But can't find much info on how to care for it. Wheather if it wants to dry out before watering and stuff like that.
I have it in a southern window with good sun and let it get pretty dry before watering. It has been happy with this treatment.
Ok, sounds good. Seems like it ain't a complicated plant. But it does grow pretty slowly. Mine does, anyway.
Around here Corokia cotoneaster is a shrub for a fairly sunny location, average garden water or somewhat on the dry side. Great in containers (outdoors).
Translating this to indoors, I would try high light and moderate water. Probably not a hot south or west window unless there was a sheer curtain. Really good draining soil. It will need pruning to stay small enough to keep indoors.
