Beginner Gardening: Wirenetting bush, how to take care of it?, 1 by MadsHilde

Is this plant not supposed to be a bush and not a tree like mine? I know the plant is bound to a stick, but is that to make the bush grow upright or is the only purpose of the stick to keep the tree from not falling to the sides?

Also, is there anything I need to know about this plant?
