2013 N Central TX RU in Arlington**OCTOBER 20TH** ATTENDANCE
Frank, Brian and I will be there with plants, signs and wagon.
Come on Everybody!!!
Heman and myself will be there.
(1 member 1 guest)
I'm supposed to be attending a 70-year old birthday celebration that afternoon, so I will have to be "tentative" for now.
Carla
I should be there. I'm not sure about the rest of my family yet.
I hope you and Carla can make it, there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest yet, maybe because of Labor day, we shall see.
Yes, the holiday, the heat, and school starting are all getting peoples attention right now. But just think, it will be a bit "COOLER" by then and the plants will perk up and so will we!
Hope to see you Carla and the family too Dennis.

Prev post: I will put this on my calendar & hope to attend my 1st round up! I won't have many plants to trade since I am in the 1st year in this house & just getting the natives started at this locale. What are desirable alternatives...potting soil? Containers? Other suggestions? -Laura
Update: I have just realized this is the same weekend as my family reunion which is out of town, so I won't be able to make this my 1st round up :(... I guess I will have to wait until spring.

Welcome Grownative, great glad to have you come to ours as your first one!! I came to my first to Arlington 2007, after joining DG back in 2005. I know you will love getting to meet some faces to take back with online names!
As for plants, not a problem potting soil is always welcomed in trades; and there will be lots of plants being given away at the end that owners don't want to take home.
@Steadycam.....Hi Marty, glad you are driving up again to join us. Guests are always welcome.
I never have enough potting soil!!!!
Laura, you can always trade things like plant markers, potting soil, empty nursery pots, bulbs, and stuff like that. We have had people trade the 5 gal buckets pool supplies come in as well as shredded leaves and manure. Coffee grounds are also a good trade item. Whatever you do, don't let the lack of items to trade deter you from coming and having a good time. You will not leave empty handed!!
Actually, Im to the point now, thanks to a lot of you guys, that I can contribute plants but I dont necessarily need or want many more plants. Right after the RU, Im usually pretty low on pots, soil, markers, etc. That said, Im now in my succulent phase so I'll be asking.
Rick and I will be there. We really enjoyed the Spring Round-up. Can't wait.
Carol
I am new to the area but was an avid gardener in KY. I plan on coming & will bring a guest. Looking forward to meeting other gardener s & finding out what grows good here. My attempt at a vegetable garden was pretty sad.
welcome sc! We are glad you are going to join us. You'll have fun I guarantee!
Wow!! Scs you live in Arlington? that is great, do I know you? Please come and join us we love new members, and of course experienced ones too.
Josephine.
Welcome sc!! I do vegetable gardening as well as flowers. The best advice I can give you is to amend, amend, amend your soil!
That will be an interesting weekend for me. The Hempstead RU is on the 19th and the Arlington RU is on the 20th. I need to be at both.
Wow girl, you are going to be exhausted, but one good thing is you will already have the car loaded.
Like Grownative, this will be my first RU. Attendance is a 'maybe' as my niece in NY is expecting a baby boy about then and if I can cough up the $$, I'll be going to New York City! Her brother and wife had a baby boy in April, also in NYC, that I haven't met yet so a trip there would be very exciting.
Thanks for the tips on things to bring for trades, etc. Too bad I just recycled a gazillion or so (anyone notice my tendency to exaggerate?) nursery pots at Northaven Gardens. But I still have some nice ones I can bring. And I'm walking distance to a Starbucks that would be delighted to donate some coffee grounds. Plus, I never know what I might find if I rummage thru my garage. Hmmm.
And a very big thanks for starting the RU in the afternoon.
If anyone is interested in carpooling from Dallas, let me know. I live close to Love Field, but even closer to Nich Hard nurseries.
Let's hope the baby is born later in October so I can be at my first RU.
Joan aka tx_flower_child
Um, I just reread this thread and I hope that the date was a typo. I'm quite good at making typos myself so no offense intended. Anyway, we are talking Oct. 20, 2013, right?
Yes, it is October 20th 2013, thank you for noticing, Sheila will fix it right away, these things happen,
You try to be so careful but sometimes it just happens, no big deal.
I hope you make it to the swap.
Josephine.
Richard and I will be attending. Looking forward to my first round up!! (1 member, 1 guest).
Beverly AKA bezziec
That is great!! we are getting a lot of new members this time, which is wonderful.
Looking forward to seeing you.
Josephine.
Please post on this thread if you can make it on October 20th 2013.
Josephine.
Welcome to Daves Garden and Texas newcomers and first time Round Up attendees!! I hope all the stars will align for us and we will meet you guys at RU.
Sorry I am just now doing the correction on my date. Just seems everything is closing in right now and I have been neglecting DG RU thread. Stephanie has offered to do the trade thread and I will put the link in the top post of this one when she gets it going. Thank you Stephanie. I will also be putting a list of names and number of guest at the top.
My husband is coming with me, so should be added to the list. Thanks.

I think we can come. My book club is that day, but it's a book I don't' want to read!
Excellent, I am so glad things are coming along well.
Should I bother bringing any used pots, clay or plastic, that havern't been cleaned and sterilized?
Just asking.
I can use plastic pots, quarts and gallons are good for me.
:( As usual, I won't have much to bring. Maybe I'll stop at Lowes on the way.
Carrie, don't do that. Just come!
OK ^_^
Josephine - You're welcome to any plastic pots that I haven't yet recycled. Northaven Gardens in Dallas recycles them and I periodically drop some off there. I just wanted to know if it's ok if the pots aren't sterilized. I'll rinse out any dirt, but that would be all I'd do. So if I do get to the RU, which is dependent on the timing of the birth of my new nephew, I'll just throw a bunch of pots and misc. stuff in my car. I have a lot of misc. stuff that could use new homes.
Yes, it is O.K. if not sterilized, I never do it, too much trouble. Just bring them on my friend!!!
I would take a few 8-10" clay pots for an art project too.
Make sure you put your in the trade thread tx-flower. We put down our offers, wants, and notes to keep track of our trades on one post and keep editing it.
