>> I officially declare war, LOL!
I was going to suggest beer saucers, but the bait seems to be the most effective thing when you have a lot of slugs.
I've read that slugs can smell the bait, and will be attracted to it even if the pellets are scattered somewhat thinly. Thus it may be better to apply smaller amounts every few days or few weeks, rather than a lot all at once.
Personally, I think that after it's been rained on a few times it is less effective, but others have told me that it still works after a rain.
I wish I could find the site that advised using only a certain number of bait "grains" per square foot. They showed a photo that showed grains separated by an inch or three, and claimed that was enough to attract any slug that came within range.
GOOD LUCK!
When to plant Broccoli & Lettuce for autumn?
i was following what the back of the box told me with, it said to water after applying, i guess thats to "activate" it or something.
But yeah, i dont think the beer dishes would have handled what i had down where im attempting the kale.
>> water after applying
Hmm, good! maybe it releases the scent.

I understand. When we had two bad years in a row, the saucers got crowded with drowned slugs, but we still had lots.
One website claimed that, if one was poisoned but recovered, it was smart enough to avoid that area for several days. IF true, that might be part of why bait works.
Ortho has a slug bait out called, Bug Getta.. It works better that anything I've ever tried. It even keeps its power after a rain.
im thinking the "Early Purple" broccoli may have stalled a bit, they certainly arent as vigorous as the arcadia broccoli so far
I have green beans growing & flowering. I have cucumbers flowering & my Kale sprouted. So I am doing good.
Sorry i havent updated in a while, wanted to wait until you could see some definite difference from the last set of photos, we have had a good couple of weeks with highs in the 70's, which seemed to cause a growth explosion, now we find ourselves in a battle of the high 80 degree temps (we are in our, what i like to call "roller coaster" time of year, you know, nature not sure which season its supposed to be and all, lol.) They are saying even possible high of 89 on sunday, im worried it may stall the broccoli plants again. I also got a photo of how the Kale plants that survived the deer and slug war are doing.
