raining on and off all day. left the hospital, stopped where I lived along time ago, and dug up my giant blackeyed susans. the cops were across the street. must have thought I lived there.
teaching sara how to make blueberry jam. we picked 3 1/2 gallons yesterday
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
I have one made for the table as well, almost 4' x 3', love it, did away with ironing board. This is mostly I would assume for class plus it's a bag so you can tote around more quilting supplies till ironing pad is needed.
Not sure why Debbie, got my days mixed up. Having extra bodies in the house sure plays havoc with daily routine.
Rain, rain and more rain

Maybe rain here - we need it. Left foot and hand attacked by fire ants. Owie. kb
Katie, you need to get some spray for those ants!
Hi...Just very quick tonight, sorry but not such great news.
I;ve been trying to reach Moonie for a couple of days, tonight DH Jim returned my call!
Jean/Moon/ My Moonbeam has had a stoke this morning. She is going to be OK, Thank Heavens.
She was having symptoms, got to Hospital they dd MRI, UTI, all seems good, said it appeared to be a mini stroke,
Again, Thanks be, doesn't appear to to have any damaging effects.
Just please keep her in your thought and prayer, good vibes for a rapid healing!
MoonBeam, I Love you, Gentle Armwraps and just heal fast!
....
I'm off tomorrow! lol, so far loving these hours.
Oh Judy, so so scary! Thank you for updated all of us. Just had a feeling something wasn't right, she hasn't
been feeling well.
HUGS to you and Jean/Moonbeam also! Lots of prayers
OH NO! Thanks for letting us know Judy!
Sending lots of prayers and gentle ((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) for her!
Sending huge hugs, and lots of positive thoughts and prayers to our Jean. Thank you so much for letting us know Judy. What a shock this must have been for you.
Buckets and buckets of rain starting late afternoon with lots of T and L continuing all through the night last night. Poor TO was hit very hard with public transport and city roads and highways being closed. TO had a month's worth of July rainfall in 1 night. Even the airport was diverting arrivals to Hamilton and Ottawa.
Think I will try and grab a few hours of sleep now. My body is finally trying to tell me it is tired, Sweet dreams everyone!
Dianne
Morning all,
Judy, thanks for letting us know about Jean..I'm at a loss for words, like those before me am sending prayers and soft hugs. Getting her to the hospital immediately was a godsend! Scary situation for both she and Jim.
Prayers for you and your friend Judy. Love Bev
Have to say I'm just sick to my tummy, honestly I am and I'm overwhelmed with the thought that something could happen to one of you.
I'll be on the lookout for Jean's next post, her always researching and her vast knowledge always there providing us with guidance.
Jean, we are with you in spirit...
Bev, how are you doing sweetie?
Debbie, prayers going along with you today as well
Ohhh will enjoy the day with the girls here at home today..been awhile since I've been able to join in with their antics
This message was edited Jul 9, 2013 6:17 AM
Have fun with the ladies Betty...
Thanks Judy for letting us know. Sending my prayers for Jean as well and for Debbie. And I'm asking for yours too. My brother has been admitted to hospital with double pneumonia. I'm so scared for him. He is in Boston and I can't get there right now.
Hello to Bev - good to see you post.
Sending prayers for your Brother Barb!
Betty, how did you get to stay home on a Tuesday? Enjoy your day!
prayers for moonbeam
As I'm new to the forum I'll just say my thoughts and prayers are with those needing them the most.
Betty, lordie what a deluge in Toronto and your area as well..lots of folks out of their homes.
Foggy here and we're under a thunderstorm watch.
Not expecting to do much today. DH took the dogs in to be groomed.
Tomorrow I see the orthopedic surgeon, scared stiff, know I'll leave with a date for surgery.
TTFN
M
Barb, prayers coming your way..hard being in a different area and not being by his bedside but understandably so seeing you are unwell and just healing.
Paul is in Sault Ste Marie with Jim, Suzanne in Toronto so said I am just staying home..having a good time with them...came upstairs so I could work for 10 minutes then back down.
"M" the weather network said you would be badly hit today..
Glued to t.v. when I can re the Quebec disaster..imagine, people just evaporated from the explosion..mind boggling
girls are sewing little shoulder carry bags, lightweight so am watching..nice bags to make
Barb sending positive thoughts and prayers to your brother. What is his name please?
M I know you frightened you must feel about your apptment but just think the end of the pain will be in sight. You can start a countdown - that's what I did when I had my knees replaced. They laughed at me in the Recovery room when I said I didn't need any pain killers as my knee already hurt less than it did before I came in. Yes once I came around more there was some pain but compared to what I had been through I could handle it.
Glad you got to stay home today Betty and visit with the girls. Did you see on BT news the guy using his canoe on Davenport Rd? Haven't been out the lane yet but the 1 hill just after you pass me is washed out pretty badly. I'll have to do some trimming of trees before I rake the gravel back. That area of the lane is rarely used since we moved the dock and built the house. There is 1 cottage after us but they left to go back to Rochester on Sat.They probably won't be back until mid August so there is some time for me to fix it. If I don't get to it then they can help me when they get here.
This train crash in Quebec for me brings to mind 911. So many of the bodies evaporated and DNA was the only way to identify them. Another stumbling block to the identification process will be that a large dental office was destroyed by the blast thus all their records are gone. It is just such a tragedy and my heart weighs heavy for the community.
Katie how are you feeling? Any word from Tony?
Had my first local strawberries on Sat. They were small but very sweet. I might venture out there this week - I know it is getting to the end of the season for strawberries but that also means reaspberries will be ready. Yum!
Think I might try a nap. I finally fell asleep a little before 6 am but was up again within 2 hours. My eyes tell me I am tied.
Dianne
Dianne, they've been asking those who have relatives missing to give dna samples so they can try and identify some of the bodies..shutter to think had it exploded in Toronto while travelling through..bet there is some major changes coming.
Don't you try doing the cutting and cleaning, lordy much to much for you to do.
girls just left, already I'm lonesome..lol
great bunch of girls, all either had dr. appts or places to be..asked if I could take next Tuesday off. Ann will come back for supper, will take spaghetti out of freezer and make a salad, Ann will bring wine and rolls..maybe if we were to have a drink or 2 we might win T.V. bingo tonight
Darlene had to do more packing, was at her new home, they were just putting granite countertop in and light fixtures
Aline had to go to the Doctor's
Pat had to go work the food kitchen
the others decided they would call it a day as well.
Next week they will make the little carry purse, will have a line up of girls with sewing machine doing various parts of it..they are hoping to do 20..with scraps I made one..easy, I shall ask my travellings buds if they want one for travelling if so will give me something to sew rather than quilt tops
week after, gourds are being drilled, some will be snowmen, others will have Canada goose
Amazed, Ann who doesn't sew has now started to sew materinity wear for her daughter, going to be sewing little, here she is, showing us the finished one, 3 more to go..they will be comfy for Melissa while she is in the hospital next few months
Missy trying to get Darlene to give her a dish of milk
June will be a grandma next month so she's doing a canvas with a verse on it!
all busy/busy
sure looks like rain out there
Oye! Laid on the bed this morning and watched the footageS re the flooding in Toronto. the train crash in Quebec and the airline tragedy in San Francisco .. before I knew it almost 2 hours had past and my mind was in a fog .. you were mentioning things happening in THREEs Betty .. I think it happened ..
Fer sure 911 comes to mind Dianne. re the devastation incurred.
The weather is damp and cool .. DH keeps threatening to light a fire in the woodstove, OR, turn on the furnace .. hmpf ... old Menopause Marilynne here would croak if either were to happen !! I do believe he's yankin my chain ... so .. I'm being quiet .. no sparring ^_^
The whole 'thing' about this impending surgery is the WAITING!!! If the surgeon were to say to me tomorrow .. come on in Thursday and I'll do it .. I'd be dandy .. scared witless, but, I'd do it .. however .. minimum wait is likely to be a month .. max 2 months .. so .. every night I lay my head down, I get to PRE play the surgery ..one of the BIG drawbacks to being a nurse.
But, as Dianne says, I KNOW the pain will be gone, I'll be able to garden, shovel, cut grass, walk the dogs ets .. have to keep those POSITIVE thoughts in there ^_^
MMMMMMmmmmm strawberries .. they will be ready here in Thunder Bay just after July 12th .. 3 precious weeks of picking and that's IT!! Am so hoping I can make some freezer jam and some muffins and coffeecake.
Hoping everyone in need of T&P is receiving mine ..
TTFN
~M~
Why am I suddenly hungry for fruit loops???? Give Ann a squeeze from me!!! :o)
Wish I could have been there. Miss all you girls!
Off to give plasma....Hot, hot hot today.
Hosta club meeting tonight at 6:00. At a nursery, like I need something else to try to cram into this garden!!!!
You know Joyce you will find something. How did it go at Joan's yesterday?
Prayers for Moonbeam and all others. So glad we stick together here.
tony was back today. He'd had a stomach bug yesterday. I hadn't asked him when he called as I trust him to have a good reason if he doesn't come to work. Grateful it was not a crisis with a family member.
We are doing clean-up from the insulation project and taking frequent breaks to admire the work. Also taking time to plan the next steps. There are always so many things to do we have to remember to stay focused. As well as grateful.
The fire ant bites gave me flu-like symptoms this morning so I wasn't much help. I did provide thanks and admiration along with "take it easy" instructions.
With the endless upkeep and furbaby care any progress is great. And progress in this weather is a miracle.
Having trouble getting my van insurance renewed. At least the people at seem to be trying to help. Extra stressful because someone in San Diego is trying to blame me for damage to his vehicle.
There's always something.
I agree that the wait before the surgery is the worst part. I'll take an extra dose of recovery any time.
hugs, katie
Betty, looks like you all had a good day! Wish I was closer to have a craft Tuesday with all of you!
Hey Cookie, have fun at the hosta meeting tonight!
MarilynneS, waiting is the worse part of anything, but hopefully it will all be over soon!
Katie, take care of those ant bites please? Sounds like you got bitten several times, and with all that venom, plus the scorpion stings, it is no wonder your not feeling well!
Joyce, I am not sure I believe you need any coaxing to bring home a plant, new or old. Lol. How did your day go at Joan's..is Bill behaving?
Judy how did your training go, testing done, aced it i bet! are you now on regular schedule and if so what is it?
LindaKay wish you were closer as well..any plans to visit your dad this fall? Loved meeting up with you, with so much gabbing and visiting together didn't have much time for one on me chat, but that is ok, another time. Wonder what the closest airport to Kathy is?
Katie, glad that it was nothing serious with Tony, must be a tremendous amount of strain on him being financially responsible for so many..bet their are a lot of days he would like to rest but can't.
Was the insurance issue due to the accident you had the trip before this one? Are you able to get insurance in Mexico that would allow you to drive on USA side?
Ended up in a nest of red ants when I was in Florida one ear, omg talk about pain.
"M" you are almost there, you should give yourself a pat on the back for being so patient under the circumstances. Did Gord light the furnace?its actually so humid that you can see the haze, sky is darkening, bad weather ahead.
Debbie update please.
Susan must be at the Calgary stampede, think its this week unless she is confined toned..hooe that is not the reason
Thinking of our Jean, here is hoping she's got meds and doing ok..
Kyle dropped n last night for an hour, said he was off on seadoo today, these new ones are called something different, old age, forgot the name, hoped to go to Beausoleil island for the day, hoping he will be home before the storm hits.
Have less than an hour to go to man the phones then I will run into Foodland and get strawberries, "M" made me hungry for strawberry shortcake for our desert tonight.
betty, BHM airport is 20 minutes from the house. I will pick you up. I have 2 vehicles so no need to rent a car
I've just emailed my niece with a suggestion (big grin on my face while I was typing) about her dilemma with the 2 unltrasounds. Since the 1 in India said girl and the 1 last week in Mexico said boy she should either come here to Ontario to visit me or go to her inlaws in Oregon to have a third. Then she can put to rest her worry that she is actually having twins. Her dad, my big brother is a twin so there is a chance. She just wants to get back to India and be with her DH. He is a mechanical engineer for a large mining company in India and could not get away.
Oh Betty strawberry shortcake sounds wonderful - or hot biscuits.
Katie I am glad it was nothing serious for Tony or 1 of his family .Is medical care expensive for families in Mexico? I imagine that it would be if you could even find someone to treat you.My big brother lives in Mazaltan (????SP??) and recently was in hospital there for heart problems. Guess he is still alive as I haven't heard otherwise. Yep, we are a real close family. Speaking of doctors I hope Debbie's Shannon makes out Ok today with her new doc.
Barb how are you feeling today? Continuing to improve? I sure hope so as it must have been torture for you not to sew. Probably hurt more than the sciatica!
lol you are full of good suggestions Dianne, too bad she couldn't do a slight detour and spend a few days with you..likely it's a boy seeing as they couldn't see it at the beginning and then saw something of interest to lead them to think it's a boy.you will be a great Aunt!!!
Likely Debbie is enjoying the eye candy while trying to listen to the doctor. Let's hope he's able to get a new view on Shannon's case.
when do you think this humidity and rain will stop, this summer I hope..keep thinking what if the rain was snow, yikes, not a good thought.
portable hand phones, 3 units, lost one a month ago, today I lost another, how can you lose phones, easy for me as when I'm working at home I carry them around, downstairs phone gets upstairs, upstairs get downstairs, sometimes outside.
was clock watching, decided I had better run in to Canadian Tire and purchase another trio set as with the one hand phone sometimes I forget it's upstairs or downstairs and am running when it rings, very easy to fall on the stairs..
prayed to St. Anthony, patron of lost objects and what do you know, I have 2 phones, where was it?? was cutting grass with the rider on Sunday, put it in the drink container incase Linda called..luckily had the cover over it so no damage, just needed charging..saved myself some $$$, more fabric dollars (grin)
Maybe you had better keep the phone with your glasses Betty. Grinning widely as I duck and run.
Betty, no trips planned for this year that I know of! Kathy lives in Grand Rapids, and the airport is 20 minutes away from her place!
Phone on top of her head??? :) She needs a big pocket on her shirt!
Oh my, I just read about Jean. Sending hugs and prayers that all will be okay. What a shock.
Seems everyone has been busy today...had early thirty doctors appointment...CPAP machine needed to be check. Ran a few errands and when I go home I was exhausted....heat and humidity. Has a quick lunch of watermelon and pampered myself.....I took a nap! That is something I don't do very often but I certainly did enjoy it today.
Keep watching the reports on Chantal and wondering how Kim is doing.....certainly hope she is a place that doesn't flood easily. Maybe I will hear from her tonight about the plans...whether they are staying or coming back early.
Grand Rapids Alabama Linda Kay??
Dianne, yep, you had better ripen and hide..maybe that lightweight purse can hold the phone..as for glasses on head, still didn't learn my lesson but using $25 glasses so not as ig a loss..old habits die hard.
Good for you Marion, you must have needed it if you dozed off, does that mean you won't sleep all night? Sure hope Chantal takes on another route and that Kim isn't in danger and that she gets home on regular flight.
Omg omg
Rarely go to post office, I should have though, have the biggest smile, there was a parcel from Thunder, thought to myself that I must have missed a round robin quilt panel and was ready to bring it to work tomorrow...nope, the nicest note inside, I'm so blessed, it was a red/white/blue patriotic angel she made out of towels...thank you, thank you thunder, you made my day...doing happy dance!
By the way, how are you feeling Thunder, getting around? And the boys?
Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Nearest airport to me is in San Antonio, 3 hours away.
Love that angel!
linda, she was asking about airport closest to me
Yep, closest airport to you, for fun checked Buffalo to Nashville and it was in the high $400's
Oh that angel is so cute!!! And so clever. What a great surprise...
Just want to let you know I talked with my brother and he says they caught the pneumonia in time but that he will be in hospital for a few more days. I guess he is still in a lot of pain and it can be managed better there. He is laughing and joking though so I feel he will be okay. Gave me a nasty scare though......I thank you all so much for your prayers. They work!!!!
Aw Betty you got one of Thunder's delightful Kitchen Angels. I got mine in the Santa Warren Christmas Exchange. I love mine and keep it hanging on the garden door that leads to the deck. I was horror struck when Thunder said I might want to dismantle it and use the towels. Don't think so Thunder!
Good for you Marion having a nap. I sleep so poorly at night that if I didn't have naps I would have no sleep. I used to feel terribly guilty about napping but finally my GP sat me down and gave me a 'talkin to'.
Just watching the Toronto news and between the train wreck and the flood in Toronto we have really had a beating this weekend. Add to that the plane crash and NA has taken quite a thumping. Overall we are very blessed things were not worse than they were.
Critters are fed now I have to think of something for myself. Salad or Frosted Flakes???? What diverse options, eh?
Oh Barb, holly, know prayers work but instant Miracle, wonderful! Now more prayers for you, need you up and creative..norm must be terribly worried about you.
Tell him I often think of him, doing crafts with us and having timmies and donuts for when we got up.
