Hi there Karen, was telling Joyce this morning that Ann was asking if we were going to meet up in Frankenmuth come fall, up to it? Knw you need fabric lol
Normally, more than not Karen if urgent the best of care with short waiting periods is given.
Have you been getting this rain as well?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Shucks, my luck didn't hold...it is raining. Not hard like we have had but still it is water!!!
Betty, the cost of flying from Atlanta to Tally is out of sight....easier for me to drive there and pick her up. Besides, one of her students will be in competition that weekend just south of Atlanta and we can stop and watch. She is into dressage and cross country; will be trying to qualify for Nationals to be in Texas in September. She actually thinks Kim is her "big" sister rather than teacher....have know the girl since she was about 2 as her mom is our vet...and we are also good friends with the mom...widow like me and we sorta support each other.
Getting great ideas for this piece, tks.
Nice that Gord enjoyed the birthday. Now what will he spend his big winnings on?
Gathering before the sky opened. It is hard to believe quite a few patches of burnt grass even though we've had much rain.
Always good to have a sump pump on hand..I've one in laundry room with battery back up, luckily I've not needed either.
I don't use my cel phone, should I guess but I always see Pple sitting with people paying little attention to goings on because they are texting or gabbing. Always get Jeff's last. Phone..blackberry something is my last..do use the in the car though, great when I travel.
For camera, i have a cheap/cheap Kodak, maybe I should put it on my Christmas list.
Marion, I didn't do it!! Haven't danced in two days!
I'd love to meet in Frankenmuth. If we are in TN by then, and I'm soooo hoping we are, I could get back up IF it's the week-end the guys have their cannon shoot on Harsen's Island, it most likely will be the 19th of Oct. I'll have Walt find out for sure on the date. If we're still here, I can make it any time.
They keep telling us rain but so far none, however, I think that will change as my DGD & family are on their way up. They've had nothing but rain in TN and it will be just our luck that it will set in here now too.
You won't make the trip in one day then, you will spend a night?
How wonderful for you to offer support, she will enjoy the support I'm sure. Kim comes back when?
Going to clean berries, strawberry shortcake is my bonus desert for getting all I wanted to get done this weekend.
Is the house still on the market Karen? What a disappointment it was for you to have that deal fall through.
I'll have to see as well, with Ann's daughter having twins it will depend on if she is needed. So enjoyed last trip.
Hmm wonder where Jody is
I forgot to mention I like the idea of the stain glass piece for the arch.....love that. Lucky lady, wish I could find something like that for my yard. Guess I need to do a round of the flea markets and see what I can find.
Kim gets back the 13th...this coming Saturday. Actually Taylor (the young lady) has a wonderful bond with Kim and likes her at shows for a calming influence.....her mother makes her nervous.....guess like a typical mom does..right? LOL Taylor's dad was killed in a horrible accident (semi driver past out and ran off the highway hitting the truck her dad was driving waiting to get onto the highway after the semi had passed) and it wasn't long after we lost Ross. Taylor somehow bonded with Kim over this as they both were/are dad's girls. Has been really good relationship for both. Surprising how Taylor can make the transition when in the classroom from Kim to Professora Sproul. :-)
Debbie, I am so happy to hear it wasn't you doing the rain dance...would have upset me. Maybe Jean sent it my way, who knows.
Bernice had it sitting on her deck, has a Victorian house..she and her husband just made a transition in life..sold their house to daughter Michelle and hubby (Noah's mom) and their 2 car garage will be converted into granny suite for she and Cliff so had no need for it. Michelle works for realtors, goes in and stages homes, I love what she has done to the hiuse now that she bought it! I am in awe of her creativity!
Tragic story, so glad Taylor has Kim!
Gee seems like yesterday Kim left and already talking about her being home.
Betty, we re-listed it with an agent. He is one of the top in town and seems to think it will sell before summer is over. I sure hope so. It's a different kind of place, not really good as a house to live in but great for a cottage and will sleep 20+ people. Also makes a good rental and here they rent for $1800. plus a week in the summer. There is a small rental house across the way , and we have two extra empty lots. We have a total of 3 acres and 300 foot frontage on a lake with hard sand bottom. Before we were living here, I rented by the week in the summer and to college students by the month during the winter. All the students were either in aviation or law enforcement so we had a good crew here. Each had a private room and shared the rest of the house. So it's a good investment. Just need someone who wants it.
Well let's hope the right byer is out there looking. Know how heartbroken you were when the deal fell through. How long will the family stay with you? Long drive from Tennessee, how many hours..14 or so?
Route they have planned says 12 hours but there are three kids and my DGD has what I call "tiny tanks" so......
They will be here until Thurs then going downstate to see her dad and other family. She has always been "my girl" we are missing each other very much. They left a couple of hours ago and are switching off driving so will be here in the wee hours. They could have left at noon but her ex had the kids and of course wouldn't bring them back a couple of hours early....it's one of the reasons he's an ex.
i'm having a kitchen towel swap for those interested

No rain dances from me....it has been raining off and on since Saturday afternoon.
I agree on the screen...use it as a backdrop for a feature in the yard and add a stained glass accent....maybe even put a solar up light behind it to enhance that area at night. The stained glass would glow from the garden.
I Just woke up and read all the posts which I have now forgotten. The bites gave me something like a flu - I slept about twelve hours except when I was on the pot. Weird dreams, too. Will tr to stay up for awhile so I can sleep tonight.
Bugs are part of living in a subtropical climate. One of many reasons I could never be on "Survivor." Hurricane Eric seems to be vanishing so no rain here probably. The heat and lack of water are part of why the bugs are so bad. The good news is not many mosquitoes.
It's 80 f. in my bedroom with a/c on full all day. We need to start work on the outside walls of the igloo but I may start sleeping in there if it is cooler.
Must feed the dogs and try to wake up, Will vacuum some if I have some energy - it's a fairly safe way to get some work done. No ladders or blades involved. Are you listening, Dianne?
hugs, katie
Here is the thread for Kathy's swap.

Betty, I agree with the stained glass, that would be so pretty in that frame!
Karen, two drivers can do that easily just too bad they will have to wait till later in the day to get the kids back. I'm thrilled that Jeff and ex have such a good relationship, both willing to bend, helps also that Caleb and Braedon are at an age they too can decide what they want.
Jean, that must mean Mary had rain for her gathering.
Ohh love t-towels, ones I got in last few swaps are hanging on the t-towel rack, use them for display so will have to wonder over.
Katie, that bloody hot for in the house, I personally would get nothing done except lay down with wet washrag on my forehead. One of these days one of those bugs will poison you and make you really ill. When you say no water, do you have water in your house or does it have to be carried from the well which in the dryness you are experiencing might be dry..boy I'd be fretting
Well now you've given me another to do..stained glass piece. Do have lights I could use.. Now that I've finished the quilt for the wedding, will have the pinwheel top done tomorrow I will look for a pattern, have a map to do for Paul so maybe I shall put sewing away for a bit, who knows maybe I will have the husqvarna back in two three weeks and can get back to quilting..in meantime I will habe the stained class project done..

thanks lk, you are a life saver
They are close to halfway here now. It's a hard thing for Jess to handle, when her parents divorced (my oldest son is her dad), we made a decision to do what is best for the sake of the kids. Besides my former DIL and I have always been close. They each remarried, both parents are happier now and there are extra grands on both sides. Jess and her brother got two great step-parents, instead of shrinking, our family grew. Jess' mom and I are still close and her younger sister will fight anyone who says I'm not really her grandma. In fact my dad provided the same for her as he did the rest of his greats in his will.
It just makes it so much easier if the children are put first. After all they are the innocent parties.
Same with my DIL/ son,one great big happy family, other than a few bumps in the road..safe travels for the family, be great for you to see them.
Got off the couch and finished the rest of my quilt blocks, maybe keeping awake till 10pm I will be able to sleep without waking up in the middle of the night and be productive at the same time
Now let's see if sleep comes
Hello To All;
Oh Katie - started feeling creepy crawly reading your post... so sorry for you! Baby that knee please....
Betty I swear it has rained all around my house but not on it... we had a few short showers today but ya'll please send me rain because I need a good soak.
Too funny I'd never believe I'd write that before I started gardening !
Depsi - maybe you can start a "round up" in your area... I have gone to three from DG in Alabama and they were so much fun, nice people and "babies" to bring home and plant !
Dianne - wishing you some sunshine.... Good idea on the photos.
Marion - totally agree about the tea... I usually have 2 pitchers running simultaneously.... Super that you'd heard of Interlachen... no one I ever talk to knows about the city so I usually say "Near Gainesville" LOL
Karen - adorable pic ! I have to agree with you... "You get what you pay for" if the Gov't takes over they waste most of our $ and healthcare won't be free... we will still be paying for it
Betty hubs grilled salmon... steamed asparagus, I made a capellini (new recipe) and MIL brought yellow rice. Hubs also made Macque Choux with Shrimp.
Not our normal family meal but seemed to be well enjoyed. No swimming... FIL and BIL are not well....
Fun was had by all.
Didn't get that pic today Betty... but will get it soon...
Can't wait for the story re: Clearwater FL LOL
HUGS
Mary
sisters, our annual sistertogether is scheduled for thee last weekend in august. hope to see y'all there.
Morning all, been a busy busy morning,
Few drops of rain on my way in, likely more of the same to come, really humid.
Mary, as usually your meal sounds so delicious, am sure all enjoyed, swim or no swim. You were blessed then having the function without rain. Guess the kids are all working and it's harder for them to visit, makes for a quiet house right?
Drats Kathy, I'll see what I can do but I'll be passing your place 1st week of August on my Roadtrip 2013!!! think I'm close by when leaving New Orleans to Nashville..will check it out though!
Was up at the crack of dawn, lordy only I and the mosquito's were out at 5:00am.
Got all of Linda's mushrooms distressed and loaded in the car. Left 1/2 hr early and dropped them off. She hadn't left yet so we had a nice chat.
Told her I could tell her house has a lot of Betty lol
Sign I painted of her house, now 17 yrs old. still looks ok
Stained glass in the window
and now co-venture, mushrooms
Thank goodness for days of rest here (grin)
although I did have enough time to pack up the small quilt/throw I started on the weekend to see if I can finish the top..at a point I have to decide if I want to go purchase more of the white fabric or improvise, after all I'm making these to give for Christmas, have gifts no one left on my list to give to, terrible isn't it.
Am putting together a Christmas box, can't miss out on our Santa Warren's 3rd Christmas exchange, slap me silly I know BUT it's coming..as of the 25th we'll be on the downward slide and you know how quickly the first 6 months went. So Dianne and Diesel, let us know the particulars come fall, in the meantime, looking for a big box lol
Betty, that painting is beautiful! Hard to believe it is doing that well after all this time!
Love the stained glass too!
They bring it in in the winter..I said I'd do some touch ups but right now Linda is in process of retiring, turns 60 July 18th (which means Roger would have been 70 as they shared same birthday a decade apart) and are downsizing. Linda was my cousin, we were raised like sister's then she married Roger's brother Rene who later took off and married my brother Bernie's wife! drats that's a soap opera all in it's own. Told Linda I'd paint her another sign for her retirement gift when she finds a new home.
Use to paint a lot of signs with homes on them, Greg and Mel had one on their lawn for years but did not take it in during winters..he asked me to make him another, maybe this fall.
Goodness, that is a lot of family history to keep up with!
that it is..
Betty, love your hypertufa, just did our last club meeting on the 2nd on that subject with a wonderful presentation by one of our fearless leaders.....she's done quite abit and teaches......I have never seen those mushrooms, tho, loved them.....I'd be interested in some instruction if you find the time.....We are leaving either later today or tomorrow morning for another week up in the north part of Idaho, the panhandle......so have a lot to do......Betty, you are a wonderful artist.....need to borrow your talent.....am doing a snail mail artist's postcard to one of the sisters at the Monastery in CottonWood.....found my quote: "Dessert is like a feel-good song, and the best ones make you dance" and now need the inspiration in the accompanying art....Have a wonderful week each of you, I'll be following you as best as I can as we travel.....
LOL Betty, are you sure our families aren't related? I had an uncle who married a widow with a son and his sister married the son. Making her married to her cousin/husband. Their children's uncle was also their step grandfather.
Not liking the looks of the weather report from the tropics!!!
Travel safe Depsi, and, enjoy!
Marion .. sometimes families, and lineage thereof, can get so convoluted .. I come from Ireland and the ins and outs of the religious strife over there have made the intertwining of families sometimes a bit outlandish LoL .. but , I think yours ranks right up there !!!!
COOL and DAMP here today .. DH is threatening to put the furnace on, OR, start a fire in the wood stove, I handed him a hoodie LoL .. told him we had to be TOUGH CANNUCKS !
As summers go, looks to be that this one is going to be cool and wet as opposed to the last 2 which were oppressively hot and humid, course, it's only JULY ^_^
Septembers here are notably STELLAR !
Betty .. if I were you, I'd retire, buy/rent a shop in Midland, and create and SELL your creations !! So beautiful, you really have such a talent for balance and colour ...
Hope all who were 'achy' aren't anymore, and, if you are I hope you can rest and relax and have some drugs to see you through.
Starting our NEW meal schedule today, will see how long it lasts .. having our MAIN meal (supper) at 2pm.
Toodles and T'ra
~M~
Reminds me of this song... I am my own Grandpa!

I think I have caught insomnia from some people here. Slept off and on last night and was up at 5am. Tony isn't here. He called to say he won't be here today. Hope nobody is ill. Both his parents are still alive and ailing.
It is hot and humid so I'm not doing much. We had a little rain last night; not enough to be of much help to plants but probably raised the humidity a bit.
My outdoor bathtub is full of cool water so I am going to have a long soak.
hugs, katie
betty, your practically in my back yourd when in nashville
laughing along with you Linda Kay, almost..Noreen became my SIL twice, married my brother, then married my BIL (no relation between them though, that's a plus)!
"M" no money in crafts, absolutely not, so expensive for materials/supplies..rather do it and give it away lol at least then it's appreciated vs someone trying to get me to lower prices.
Katie, sure hope nothing wrong with Tony, that he just needs a day off.
You will sleep well then after soaking for a bit. Nice thing about it is you can nap any time during the day providing kitties let you.
Wonder how Debbie is making out with new doctor today?
Ohhh went for fabric came home with a pattern..need a few Christmas gifts for sew'ers and thought this pattern (heat sheet included) would be a great one..portable ironing pad.
auditioning trim for this quilt
betty, that is beautiful. will you teach mr?
Deb, you enjoy that trip, nice that you have the rv and can just pick up any time..
Let's hope it's sunshine everywhere you travel to.
Kathy, I did look up Bessemer, thought it was close to our travels
went to lunch, had to take an extended one, lordy sky opened, thundering out there so just sat until it cleared enough for us to get to the car.
What a neat looking pattern Betty. I have a pressing table made from a tv stand that sits by my sewing machine. Basically it is the top covered in the heat proof batting and a cotton cover on top of that. Love it to pieces...no pun intended.
Okay, Mother Nature has seen fit to give me something else to worry about.....TS Chantal!!! This just isn't fair...oh by the way, it is raining.
That is really clever Betty. I love how the quilt is coming along.
Great idea Marion.
Praying Kim gets home safe and sound and on time..... I must go check the weather channel...
As of this morning, Kim didn't know what they would be doing with the group on this study mission. I can certainly tell you what this person wants done!!!!! Oh well, I will have to just sit tight and see what happens...
Betty, new doctor is tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Been cleaning and getting house together after 4th chaos
and some things I need to get done.
