Thought I'd move us over...
Bit early to say Happy 4th of July everyone, can't stay up much beyond 9:30 and don't want to miss the hoopla..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends
Nitey, nite.
Marion, after listening to everyone I'm sticking with the snow..odd 3 or 4 days where we are housebound but beyond that a 'winter wonderland'..could not take the heat nor the humidity you have. Your mom will be disappointed she is unable to visit but better be safe than sorry! Wise decision your sister is making.
Don't think I posted photo of the Periwinkle quilt I finished on the weekend. Just have to add label in the back and put it in a wedding bag.
still 15 minutes, trying to keep awake so chatting away like a good one lol
Greg must have forgotten...will call at 9:30 to say I need help tomorrow night to get church piece
Love the quilt. Is that the one that the Missouri Star Quilt Company had trouble with the templates? I ordered one from them before all the info came saying something was wrong. If this is it...how did you correct the problem?
Sue saw mom today but only for a little while as the bad weather was moving in again. Mom has lost 2 more pounds and is down to 88......not eating very well. Partly because the CNAs set her food on the table and leave.....no way can she raise her arms to feed herself. Ugh!!!!!!!!!
OH Betty, can't believe you are putting that to the road!! I am sure one of your craft ladies will snatch that
up...or a young helper?
No second box delivered yet, but will keep an eye out for sure. If it is post office delivering, we have two women
now. Fed Ex guy now beeps at me if I am out and waves. (big smile)....and UPS will talk my ear off! LOL
That's terrible Marion..what ever happened to volunteers? likely worry over being sued for something or other..
The papers were ok for the quilt, they send the 'spider' template and not the Periwinkle, was off, actually I had cut all my fabric to the dimensions given, moved the white side pieces in about 1/8 of an inch at the bottom of the narrow printed material..a hassle for sure.
Got Greg to cut me proper templates, have some here if you want one. Too late for this quilt but lots of leftover fabric from this project that likely would make another..thinks the tear away paper they sent is enough to do 2 quilts.
Wonder how Joyce and Bill are doing, been thinking about them a lot today..
Where do you think this one comes from Debbie, Darlene was getting rid of her mom's Christmas things..guess where some went..you guessed it. Was going to keep some but looked at all those totes in back shed, about half I didn't take out at Christmas so nope to the road it will go unless you want me to pack him up
Still some receiving their swaps so I'm fine, just thought maybe with all going on at your house it may have come, want to make sure I post a thanks you and photo's for them once the box gets there..your great doing this for me.
Oh, so you actually had the wrong template. That is on my to do list for quilts...love the way it looks.
I have been wondering about Joyce and family. They had has so much this past year or so.
I really am calling it a night. Couldn't sleep last night and now my body is saying rest, rest, rest!!
Tomorrow....................
yes, it wasn't until nothing matched that I went on their discussion thread and saw all the quilters who purchased it complain..only thing I didn't like was that they sent me my package after they knew it was the wrong template...oh well, that's how you learn to be more creative.
calling it a night as well, hopefully I will sleep as well
Sitting here wide awake and doing 2 of the worst things one can do before trying to fall asleep - watching TV and playing on the computer.
Looking forward to reading your posts about what you all are feasting on and doing for the holiday. Happy fourth of July everyone!!! Will be remembering and thanking all of those men and women who are responsible for us being able to celebrate today.
Marion I found a couple of pinwheels in the closet I was cleaning out today. I will hang them out in the Memory Garden in the morning. Be careful on that wet ground tomorrow !!
My niece ( this DN lives and teaches in India) who thought she and her DH were having a daughter got the surprise of her life today when she found out they were having a son. So was the test right in India or Mexico ??? lol This is their first child and they have gone gung ho decorating the nursery including a wall mural that Laura painted all focused on Fiona - the name they had chosen for their new soon to be DD. It was gorgeous and Laura spent hours free styling this mural. Laura is very artistic so is enjoying herself getting the room ready. Wonder what name they have thought of for their son?
My neighbour from when we lived in the old farm house called tonight very upset. She got the results of her MRI today and she has a brain tumour. The neurosurgeon said they would put off surgery until she started to experience more symptoms. She was really upset about that remark but I was able to calm her down a bit by explaining a few of my experiences. They were able to tell her almost certainly because of where and the composition of the tumour it was not cancerous. Of course that doesn't stop the nagging that creeps up in the middle of the night. She feels good about knowing she can call me anytime of day or night and I can listen to her and share my experiences. She wants me to go with her the next time she sees the neuro but I don't feel comfortable doing that but told her I would help her make a list of questions she should ask the doc.
Diesel needs to go out for 1 last time and then I am going to try this sleep thing. Enjoy your holiday tomorrow everyone!
Dianne
morning all
Happy July 4th everyone, saluting the men/women who have and are fighting to keep us Free!
Enjoy a R/W/B day!
Dianne, here's hoping that you are tucked in bed, furries beside you getting some rest..hate those sleepiness nights.
Sorry to hear the news re your neighbor..she must be terribly overwhelmed, you will be a great comfort to her.
Oh Lordy, girl vs. boy, hmmm bet its a boy! Hope her mural has been designed for both. Lol
Yikes, better run
happy rainy fourth of july!
Rained all my way in this morning, much the same for 3 or 4 days, ok, which of you sent it north?
Pouring buckets of rain here. Man it is a heavy rain! Dashed out with Diesel and hung the pinwheels. Don't need a shower now, I am soaked to the skin.
How are you feeling this morning Betty? Pain level gone down?
Debbie I sure hope there is a clearing today so you can be outside. Were you planning on BBQing, I can't remember?
Sleep didn't come last night so I know by noon I am going to be exhausted. I let my sleep meds run out as I was doing a bit better so will make sure I pick them up today in the village. Guess I was doing better because I was taking the meds on a regular basis, eh?
Enjoy your families, friends and all of the activities you do today.
Dianne
Dianne, yes am feeling a tad better, at least I'm not a zombie and doing the odd little thing.
Shaking my finger right back at you, you must take meds more regularly..amazing how missing a few plays havoc with your health.
Good morning and Happy 4th of July!!
yes, we are planning a BBQ, that part is all under the back porch so shouldn't get wet.
DH said working til about 2:00ish, so that is perfect.
Waiting for the skies to open up, weather does NOT look good at all.
We are in the area of Yates Center if you scroll in
http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/lyndonville-ny/14098/weather-radar/2126400
Once that passes...the one follow will be here about fireworks time I bet!
Not sure when girls are coming, were to be here for breakfast but since DH working
everyone bailed on me.
Enjoy your day!!
HAPPY JULY 4TH to all the American Posters .. enjoy your holiday .. eat well and be MERRY (but not XMAS Merry) LoL
Murray (our son) just told me last night, that the Great Uncle of the little girl that passed away died 3 hours AFTER her .. how much tragedy can a family take !
As it is now, Murray and his wife are clearing out the family home. Neither of Leah's parents will go back to it ..
WOW Marion and Dianne and Betty .. you sure do have lotsa rain !!! We are having temps between 80-90F .. lovely stuff, but, MAYBE rain on the weekend. The gardens can use it ..DH waters faithfully, but, we have a well, so, even though it's a good deep well, we play it safe.
Off to see the dentist this aft to see if he can fix my tooth .. if he can, I will see him tomorrow at noon. Fingers crossed he can !!! Having fits about transferring from the wheelchair to the dental chair to have the work done, Gord is taking me and will help me ..but still, I worry, dang hip is useless to hold me up !!
Best get a bustle on ..
TOODLES ^_^
~M~
Woke up before 5 so I'll be napping with Dianne soon. I put some of the scraps of insulation up in the south bedroom. When Tony got here at 7:30 we got everything together and began stapling the bamboo fencing to the ceiling in the north bedroom. I w2as able to help so I guess I'm getting better. The ceiling really looks good. And the insulation should help with the bill for the a/c.
We will probably go to town for $$$ and supplies.
Marilyn, will you be getting hip replacement surgery. I am so happy with my new knee, especially now that I'm almost pain free. The funny thing is how many of my friends have noticed how much better I am able to move. And while getting hugs from Amma I was able to kneel before her instead of having to use a stool.
I'm becoming addicted to Pinterst.
hugs, Katie
P.S. Our humidity is so high it's ridiculous. Better it should rain. Two tropical storms south of us in the Pacific but no immediate threat.
betty, hurry up and get here, I now am making raspberry cake, and mac salad.
Running as fast as I can Kathy but the water is over taking me....talk about a heavy downpour!! I wouldn't have believed it I was watching it but it was so hard and fast, it has floated my paper away!! No news to read for me today..just computer or maybe TV. Watched the weather and because of 2 systems in the gulf they are saying this can continue on into the better part of next week. By then I will be ready for the Looney Bin...the serious section at that!!!! :-) Actually might, repeat might, develop into a tropical depression and go toward Texas.
Dianne, thank you from the bottom of my heart...you will never know how good reading that made me feel today. Unfortunately unless there is a break in the weather, I won't be able to go to the cemetery....pinwheels will go to his favorite spot in our back yard instead.
Katie, love the idea of bamboo fencing on the ceiling....really neat and clever idea. I have seriously thought about bamboo flooring but no decisions as of yet.
Jean, what a wonderful post and yes, we owe a huge debt of thanks to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for this country.....Happy 4th all.
Have read so much, I can't remember who I wanted to respond to, so just know that I'm thinking and praying for you. Bill and I are doing okay. Rain held off on funeral day, thank goodness. It was a beautiful service, lots of people and the minister was a friend so had just the right things to say. City read a proclamation, thanking him for his service to the city. Three police cars in the procession to the cemetery. Two in front, one in the rear, then two fire trucks at the entrance to the cemetery with lights flashing, the ladder up on one of them with a huge American Flag flying that we drove under. Bill's dad would have loved all of that! Had a 21 gun salute from the VFW. Elsie said she slept very well the night of the funeral, must have been exhausted, and for once was alone in her house. She has a little ragdoll kitty, (Sarah P.) that will be good company for her. Bill and I have been talking to her every day. We don't want her to get down, plus he will be the man in her life now. She has a biological son here in town, but he's still working, and they're not very close, so I think she feels more comfortable coming to Bill for what she needs.
Speaking of Bill, I talked to a friend of mine this morning (she's in healthcare), and she said that we really have to watch his A-fib, as it can cause little mini strokes. Geez....will make that cardiologist appt. as soon as possible now. He's feeling pretty good, but still has a little pain in the lungs sometimes. It will take a while till he feels really great, but he is so happy to be alive!
Raining here today, too, and we had at least 1 1/2 inches in the night. Last year we couldn't beg, borrow or steal rain, and I promised never to complain again, so I'm not. The flowers are happy and so am I. I don't think the farmers are that happy though. My DD Lisa said that it looks like the fireworks will be rained out tonight. We didn't have big plans today. Ric and Robyn were going to come up from Cincy for awhile, since they haven't seen the garden yet this year, but we've postponed it until Saturday now.
Guess I'll go get some lunch started. Had hoped to have burgers on the grill, but looks like George Foreman will have to take care of it now!
Glad to see you posting Joyce. Even happier the weather cooperated for the funeral.....still have you and family in prayers. I think it is wonderful Bill has such a great relationship with his stepmom..says a lots about your hubby's character to me.
No plans here, not even to the cemetery as it is really coming down hard...many road closures, trees and power outages being reported in Tallahassee proper. Thankfully I am not in town.
Definitely will be George Foreman cooking my dinner!
Nice to see you post Joyce..still frightening to hear that mini strokes could be a possibility..you will know more once you see the specialist!
If one can say funerals are nice, your FIL's was for sure, glad the rain held off..seems most of us under experiencing rain, we did want rain for the gardens right?
Glad you are there for Elsie..she will need someone to lean on.
Maybe the good Lord let it rain so that you couldn't be playing in the garden, time for some well deserved rest. Did you cancel your trip you had booked???
Ann called me this morning to tell me they admitted her daughter for what is left of her pregnancy seeing she's now 24 weeks and pregancy is viable..she asked if I had heard from you and wanted me to send prayers and hugs to you on her behalf.
Marion, might be a great time to work in the 'not' so dungeon, didn't you want to accomplish much while Kim was away??? I know, not as much fun as being outside and gardening. You will have to go see hubby with Kim when she gets home, he'd not want you to put yourself in danger.
Let's see Kathy, if I left today I'd get there what, by Sunday? you'd have eaten all the goodies by then...fresh rasberries?
Speaking of berries, don't see a lot of local berries out, could be all the rain we've had.
Keep safe Katie, sure wish you could/would post photo's of the work you are doing..the ceiling done in bamboo is interesting..can you tell me why you call it the 'igloo'? is it because of the shape???
Yep, our "M" will be running through town shortly, will be well worth going through the proceedure.
"M" I can well imagine that the family would no longer want to live there, a tragedy in itself isn't it, having to leave the home you love. Soooo you are the culprit, you've got all the sunshine way up north..when you get tired of it please send it down here..only raining off and on but Debbie sure could use it as the storm system is over her house.
Debbie, did the girls get there yet? Paul will be anxious to get home..drats on the rain, screwing up the fireworks and community events throughout the nation.
going to Appleby's for supper tonight with my travelling buds so I can put my George Foreman grill away..do wish you could all join me
Wish we could join you, too!
No, Betty, didn't cancel the trip. It was a one night, two day trip by bus to the Kalamazoo and Ann Arbor area of Michigan with the Hosta club. Wow, amazing. I overspent, but had a really, really great time!
Still trying to get to the kitchen to make Bill some lunch!!
Thank Ann for me, Betty. Oh that reminds me, DDIL had another ultrasound in TX, and now they only hear one heartbeat and not two, so pray that it is one, and it's a girl!!!
Joyce, you going to be a grandmother again? Didn't know that......how exciting.
Betty, no sanding in this damp weather...to yucky!! Continuing to clean out cupboard and getting things ready to donate. Trust me, I have several large boxes so far....no fabric though. That is pure gold and I will not, let me repeat: will NOT part with that! :-)
Yeap, put pinwheels up outside between showers..still got wet but atleast they are where he liked to sit and watch the lake.
Joyce, glad you didn't have to cancel..so what did you buy, know you are a shopper lol..will give Ann your best! You sound relieved that it won't be twins Joyce..talk about an excited lady is Ann, she never thought at this stage she'd have grandchildren and to start off with 2 wow..she doesn't want to get too excited though, still lots can happen but it's looking more positive.
actually the first day of our travels we are hoping to sleep in Kalamazoo, wish I had more time to look around..you were in Janice's neighborhood..sure miss her, hope she is not unwell.
Marion, I'm trying to do projects to get rid of scraps and I've got about 10 tops in all ready to quilt, all those placemats done and the scraps must have a way of multiplying, the more I use the more I have..what's with that?
Glad you got the pinwheels out, that alone made you feel better I bet.
M e thinks scrap multiply in the night.
I wouldn't doubt it!!
Brought in a bag of scraps that I have left over from the Perriwinkle Quilt I just finished, been surfing the web..do know how they multiply, in order to have a anchoring color I have to buy more fabric..
Suzanne just brought me lunch, regular time is 2:00pm so I'll run over to Fabricland, if nothing on sale, I'll pass till next I head to your side of the border.
You can check Pinterest. Under bamboo ceilings they have several where privacy fences are used for ceiling. They also have some very elaborate ones.
Tony and I went to town and I spent a lot of money but am stocked up for a week or ten days.
Very quiet here. Hot and humid. This is when I really bond with the local people as it seems no one ever becomes acclimated to this weather. We are all dripping sweat and laughing.
hugs, katie
Your day sounds so special Katie..will go check pinterest..actually I've been looking at scrap quilts..trying to decide on the next project I'll undertake next week to use up those endless scraps..
you must be on the mend, thinking / planning projects is a sure sign.

I rather like the dark fabric....would be a really neat pattern but that is only my opinion. What pattern is that?
stopping in, waving hello and Happy 4th of July!
I sure hope every one has a fun filled day.
Awe, sure hope kim has a minute to jot a few lines.
I have to go back and reread...So sorry, i have been on a major roller coaster ride for a bit!
Think it's all back under control, Had a total breakdown last night. The clincher was, I slipped on basement stair(just one) but holy soreness landed on my right side. I was so mad at myself! Wrist is is a bit sore, and i was praying nothing worse, hip and ankle very sore and the shoulder seems to be ok.
So my eldest Sister Ginnipin called to see what we are doing for the 4th, she is just adorable, told her about my job and she was very happy, Told me to be a good girl and do a good job! That was it, broke down and had a good cry.
DH and i have been at each others throats lately build up of stress and all kinds of turmoil.
Last weekend we almost came to blows!! You would think after 30years he would know to think about what he saying, shaking my head...But we finally came to terms last night. Thank heavens, I hate when we get that mad at each other.
Anxious to start training tomorrow and Saturday of this week. LOL, One of the things I will be doing is Banner making!! I am more then a little nervous but so can't wait to push some buttons, can't wait to check out the different mediams. (paper). ROFLOL, I had a dream that i was to make a banner for those sky messages pulled by a plane, good heavens and the thing disinigrated in the sky.
Ok, well we are off for a ride!! not much going on, all the kids have other plans that hands on the hips, don't include us,lol...
Have a fun safe day.
God Bless
P.S. M, i love that you say toodles at the end of your post. way back i used to say toddle loo, every now and a gain anyway.
Hope Everyone has a PAIN FREE day!
SeedTosser, married 32yrs, have come to despise each other during our 8 yrs of retirement......I'm his third wife "only wife I've kept longer than a pick-up" so No, they never learn..... and I guess I should add to that, I've not learned either....HA have a great day !!!
Waving Judy, it could have been so much worse, could have broken something to have provented you from getting to work tomorrow.
Lots of the pressure will be off you both now that you are starting to work outside the home. Breath deeply, in and out, in and out, now don't you feel better? Too funny about the banner..
as for your family doing things without you, you are at that point, all have lives of their own. Are you off on the motorcycle..last year about this time you had a long/long drive from my house to yours lol
Deb, you are too funny!!! Retirement either breaks or bonds a marriage right?
Drats, went to Fabricland, no sales, went to the fabric store downtown, $11.99 a meter for white tone on tone got back in the office, went to look for my rotary cutter and I must have put it in the quilt bag I took home yesterday..thought I'd get a whole quilt cut out in the next few hours but not.
WAHOO ladies, I am dentally whole and secure !!! Never even had to get out of the wchair !!!!
Judy .. keeping a distance from DH is my 'lifesaver' ... I let him do his thing, but, I always know I can count on him when the going gets tough (like these last 7 months)
"Toodles' comes from the 'IRISH' in me, born in Belfast. but raised in Canada by a VERY Irish Mum. Welsh Dad.
Sometimes I spout off something folks haven't heard in years LoL
Corries is almost over, early night for me ... kinda achy
Later ladies ^_^
~M~
good evening friends.
Well, the first day of being on the predisone is almost over. I am happy to report that I was able to be upright for a good deal of the day. Not too comfortable when I stand due to the foot but at least I colud be up and be sociable when my son and his GF came to visit. If this keeps up like this I may do a jig by Monday!!!! I am hoping I can sit up tomorrow and sew for a while. I still have 10 birdhouse blocks to do. I may try cutting fabrics while sitting too. I usually like to stand for that but I'll try....
Hoping everyone had a wonderful 4th with your families....
Hugs to all, Barb
