thanks hope you are enjoying your family time!!!
Coffee Break # 97
Ugh. Enough with the playing around! The font changes are so annoying.
No rich to get there yet, but this is so pretty.
Really hate this font crap!
yes administrator--we with older eyes don't like small font. & it is hot & my glasses are downstairs. font is clear but too small.
Poor Justin! Hate those horse flies
want some of that snow right now!
No snow for me!
Hope Justin is okay♥
They say the font size is temporary. Just wonder why it even changed, it seemed fine before???
who say temp? It better get untemp pretty soon.
I hope Justin feels better today!!
Poor Justin.....he is really sensitive to bites! Pretty house, Victor, but I'm not wishing for snow yet....maybe temps around 80 would be nice.
Nice picture Robin
Love the pic Marilyn!
Did a number on my back today...stepped off the bottom step only it wasn't the bottom one and saw stars, I can hardly walk. Hoping it's just temporary my appointment for another shot isn't until July 26.
Oh Ronnie, feel better
OUCH! Hope it's not too serious
hoping for help for you
You & Rosemary had nasty accidents yesterday....hope you're doing better!
Hope you get better soon, Ronnie. I am confident my chiropractor will find time for me tomorrow morning to readjust my neck.
My knee, went over backwards months ago, Knee a tad stiff. 2 months ago dogs took me off my feet and I went down and knee landed on the only stone around. Last week sitting in office chair and my knee cap (I say pulled out of place) I was screaming. Stood on my leg and it popped back in, what ever it was. Knee still not right. Oh well..............
Vintage Cranberry Opalescent Swirl Lamp Shade. Was made for oil but could be electric.
Lots of ice, Ronnie! Hope you feel better soon. Know that all too well.
Visited with my book dealer friend in CT yesterday. Had A great time but they have no a/c!! I was dying. I think a national holiday is in order for the inventor of air conditioning.
Pretty glass, Sherrie. Knee sounds like it could use a chiropractor as well.
Oh my, Rosemary, Ronnie and Sherrie.....Maybe you can all negotiate a group rate at a chiropractor! I hope you all feel better soon.
Marilyn, that is such a nice photo! Your Mom looks like she was doing pretty well and enjoying the day. I hope you enjoyed the gathering as well.
Nice cranberry piece, Sherrie. You'll sell that quickly!
Stay cool, everyone!
Thanks, Louise....Mom is with it at times, but the dementia is getting worse.....Read an article the other day that said a promising drug will be available in about a dozen years....will actually reverse some dementia....scary disease!
& there are multiple causes. My dad had hardening of the arteries which caused his mental breakdown. He could not remember what he said 5 minutes previously.
My mom had the same thing because of the artery blockage caused Alzheimers...I never knew that's what caused it
She didn't remember most recent events but it was a great time for my sister to write down all the old stories cause she remembered ALL of that
My sister asked what she sees when she looks in the mirror and she said she sees herself at 18
There was the whole time in her life missing, when they lived in Sayreville from 1957 to1990, so that cut out remembering me and my 1 sister
Yes, it's heart-breaking.....my Mom asked me where I lived the other day, she wanted me to bring her home because my sister gabs too much....she got that part right!
Dad would recognize us, but did no really know what was going on. Our 2nd daughter had just been born & he said when shown pictures, 'yes but she is just a baby to me'. Sorrowful as he enjoyed her older sister when she was a year to year & a half.
Same with my Mom...she enjoys seeing her 5 great grandchildren, but she doesn't know who they are.....
It is hard to believe that three people on this thread who are now dealing with family with sever memory loss. It must be really difficult to see someone so close to loose all their memory of you or your kids.
My mom at 98 never forgets anything. She is coming to Nantucket next week from Tulsa. But some years ago I went to visit a friends grandmother with Alzheimer and she was clueless as to who her favorite granddaughter was, but somehow thought I was her long dead older sister. It was so sad, but she was amusing and sweet like an adorable 5 year old. Though at times she apparently could get difficult and just plain nasty, however I never saw her like that when I visited her several more times. Now being her older Sis, I felt I had to go see her.
She became an expert kleptomaniac and would take off people's jewelery as slickly as a professional pick pocket and then would squirrel away her new treasures under her pillow. The staff at the Nursing home had to follow her around when she was off trolling for new Jewelry or anything small and shinny. She nabbed a bracelet off me, but I got it back the same day because the nurse checked her room.
I keep reading that there are some very promising medical work being done for treatment as well as new imaging techniques being developed to screen for Alzheimer's disease. It seems to have become so common with our aging population that there is now such immediate need for daycare as well as emotional and financial aid to help families dealing with Alzheimer and dementia patients. Best to you all. Patti
Add me. Dealing with our next door neighbor. We also dealt with it while my aunt was still here. She is now in FL.
Add me too...my DILs dad...it's real bad and he's only 65 :(
Add me too, my ex-MIL whom I adore can still recognize her children & grandchildren but thats it. Her memory is going, can't remember if she took her pills, who she just talked to 15 mins. ago. It has been progressively getting worse as the months go on. Tiffany is constantly reminding her Grandfather that it's not her Grandmothers fault .... he gets fustrated with her. :(
My dad is no longer here. He was 67 when he died. Both my brother & I are beyond him in age. I worry about the pill situation as I have a lot of them (which includes a couple vitamins). I keep them in one place, & move them to a 2nd place after I have them. I take my gabapentin in the afternoon after the morning time & I find it best to turn the bottle upside down after the 2nd time. that way I don't have to worry if I had taken it.
Q for Jen. Can an individual buy the gas for central a/c units or just contractors??
Just contractors you need to have a license to purchase it
Thought so. Thanks.
That's a smart way to manage the meds, Iris. I remember mine, it's the dogs I sometimes forget!
Gabapentin makes a lot of us groggy too. Very easy to forget without clues.
In my work I'm currently encountering older demented people who lose their nursing homes, sometimes because someone charges them for theft while their minds are going. It is so nice to see so much care given to elders by my DG friends.
It makes me drowzy also. However I don't feel my feet tingle. That makes it difficult to sleep.
