Thank you Wynne, but I hope you know, all those above are NOT mine. But boy do I wish they were!!!
They are from EARTHEART GARDENS in Harpswell Maine. :)
SUMMER 2013
very nice celeste - those would have been hard to pass up
Drooling........
love the blue Mittsy!!.. drool is right Celeste!!!
any hydrangea here.. if it changes will be blue.. no work needed.. I made a mistake a couple years ago and put fireplace ashes.. someone told me that sweetens the soil and does not add acid.. guess it doesn't matter with this soil
Allison, i just read that clematis and peonies like fireplace ashes, as does just about anything that likes alkaline soil, so I spread some around my clems and peonies and heucheras, and with all the rain, so far those things are looking happy. Our soil at the farm is very acidic, so I'm thinking the ash might neutralize the soil a bit for my acid- dissenters. We'll see.....I'm thinking of putting some around just half of one of my hydrangeas to see if I get bi-color blooms.
yeah I was thinking it wouldn't hurt here either.. been spreading it here and there
Definitely, fireplace ashes for peonies. They can't get enough with my acid soil. I'm interested in how it works out around hydrangeas. It would be just my luck for the flowers to be grey.
Pffft!!! I'm glad I had just swallowed some coffee before I read that. That was funny.
Hee hee hee!!
I was weeding my hydrangea garden on Sunday & noticed 3 buds on my purple hydrangea....none last year, so I'm totally excited!
Oh, yes....I totally need that yellow one also!
In the spirit of sharing, here's what I have happening. Oh Joy! First lily--Fata Morgana-- and the red beetles seem to have moved on. Milkweed shows up where ever it wants and the moths are flocking to it. And this next guy is a sneeze away. Even I can't kill a rose campion--it's never left me in 25 years.
Thank goodness for hardy geraniums. Note to self--learn the difference between Johnson's Blue and Rozanne. Even the pale pinks, can I just call them pratense? And of course even the rose colored cranesbills have a few cultivars here. Biokovo failed to attract my camera. Purple Lily Lovett was earlier in the season. Meadow rue starting to open, and NE wood asters everywhere.
Rosemary, What a show, and hearing the red beetles have moved along is fantastic. Fata Morgana is a fav, but mine haven't bloomed yet. Patti
get blooms rosemary - glad they survived the rain
I don't know if these will come out right or not.....but here are shots from the farm last week and today.

love that yellow too Celeste.. god I am so tired I almost spelled your name wrong.. LOL
Booming by you Rosemary!!!.. awesome shots!!
Louise you have to share the album before it will post.. on the left side .. on my screen it's grey type.. says shared privately .. think it will say private or something like that that when it's not allowed to be accessed .. click those words and the option to share via link will come up.. copy & paste in the box that pops up.. and click save
Thanks folks. Looking forward to seeing Louise's shots.
Bulbs in pots are starting to emerge. Third one is Golden Curls willow with hellebore and caladium just planted this spring, and the last one is tricolor willow, a reputed wildlife magnet, in its second season. I have been considering the willows for our dreamed-about stream project.
here ya go

Allison what tab is that under?
Pretty pretty. That's Suey looking inquisitive, isn't it? She's looking very alert.
Oh, yes....the neighbors behind me have a horse, 3 pigs, & a flock of chickies......her nose is going overtime!
Thanks, Allison......let's try this again! 😁 On my ipad i wasn't able to do exactly what you said, but I did change private to share. I'll keep at it if this one doesn't work......😄
Rosemary, that's a lot of pretty pics!
RD, great shot of your garden and dear Suey. How is she doing? She looks great!

Thank you onewish1. I have written it down and saved it in my address file.
The link works and the photos are beautiful, I had to slow the slide show down to 5 seconds so I could read the captions and look, too. Sweet puppies. Beautiful astilbes.
Peppermint Pinwheel is a must for me! All Beautiful, Jen!
Does anyone know of a nursery specializing in roses fairly close to our farm?
Thanks, Mittsy! Missed your post before....i agree that the Picasa slideshow default is pretty quick.
Wow!!! Love the colors everyone
Your gardens look lush, Louise.......please save some of that white astilbe for me....Suey's doing fine! Jen, love King of Hearts DL.....Had the pleasure of visiting Pam & her DH today....every time I go, I can clearly see the progress she has made in those gardens....really wonderful....& I came home with achillea The Pearl & stachys pumilla.....
Lovely!!
I will build that cairn :) looks like the birds like it.
Very lovely! I, too, can see a lot of progress, Pam! You have done a LOT! I'm sure Hank will like that cairn as much as Bill does. Some of you may remember seeing the cairns that Hank built on the big stones down the road from us at the pond where we walk every morning.....well, we have a running battle with some vandalous kids that just love to knock them down. It seems to be a regular weekend late night activity. Of course, Hank just rebuilds them before or after we walk. LOL.
