Spent the day at Longwood today

Great picture Jen! I sooooo want to go there. The Orchids had me drooling!!!
Was talking to one of the workers in the Orchid room, they are going to be remodeling it. Very interesting... they have over 10,000 plants and they constantly rotate them out so they get back into their correct environment for awhile
Thanks for the Longwood album. Its been a long time since I was there. The formal plantings are really nice.
oh wish I knew you were going to longwood.. would have asked if you if you can snag a piece of the blue plectranthus if they had it.. LOL
All your gardens are so far ahead of mine! But I do have a few things happening...
1- Marilyn, this is the yellow iris you gave me 2 years ago- and it brought a friend!
2- Peony Red Grace, 1st year, 1st bloom. Sadly, the bud was damaged by a late frost. I'm surprised that it opened at all- but what a color!
3- Marilyn, this is from you, too.
4-Clematis Veronica's Choice
5- Rhodie frost damage, lots of peonies and foxgloves about to pop. Next week there should be much more going on!
Beautiful Pam
Nice to see all those blooms, Pam! I have some interesting Siberians if you want any....... The white veronica & dwarf astilbe, plus the hostas you gave me are all doing well.....Jen, I enjoyed the tour...the hibiscus were crazy nice.....
the rain last week tipped a lot of my peony over - wife ended up with a couple huge vases full of them and sent another off to my MIL too - and added a vase of bearded iris that also tipped.
Robin, I LOVED the hibiscus too
Allison, I stayed FAR away from the area where they were selling plants
I do enjoy those blown over bouquets
Why does it always rain hard during peony season?
Peonies negotiate so you will bring them inside.
Ants & all! I have 2 peonies that open on Father's Day....not going to this year....those that are opened are ruined.
ooohh I was talking about "pinching" one of the blue plectranthus on display ... as a community service.. LOL
Rosemary, I love that Misaka peony. Is it the tree type? Raspberry Twist and Coral Charm are also beautiful. I don't like the way some plants are being renamed and then distributed through big name companies. Another way for them to make money and keep the small potatoes people like me from selling them by saying they are patented, so you have to have a permit to sell them.
Allison, can't remember if I gave you that Jack-in-the-Pulpit (pic on previous thread), but you're welcome! I'm not sure, but you're NOID iris with the cream standards and purple falls edged in cream might be Wabash. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/36921/
Catching up here. In the meantime, here's a link to some recent shots in my gardens: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.669167846443249.1073741827.100000501200615&type=1&l=ed95e70927

Jen, that brown streak on your daylily leaf is probably just leaf streak, which is a fungal disease. Here is some info on it. I get it all the time. Doesn't harm the plants, just makes them a bit unsightly. I don't use anything to control it. http://hyg.ipm.illinois.edu/pastpest/200410b.html , http://www.daylilies.org/ahs_dictionary/leaf_streak.html
Celeste, that On Stage hosta is on my wish list.
You all have such wonderful pics. I'm really enjoying them. Jen, I have to go back and look at your pics from Longwood and the tour.
Karen
Wow! The garden tour shots and Longwood ones were great. I loved all the hibiscus at Longwood. Out of the tour gardens, #10 was my favorite. I haven't been on any garden tours in a long time. Maybe this year I'll get a chance to go on one. I went on one once of private gardens in Cambridge, and that was great. Also went on another private gardens tour in Hanson, just one town over from me. Also another great one. They're so nice for inspiration.
Karen
Pam, that iris has a wonderful grape scent...it reminds me of the old iris from my Grandma's garden...Karen, your gardens are looking very nice....the geum really stands out!
Beautiful Karen!!
I have a iris that smells like GRAPE KOOL-AID!
OOOO Celeste when you split that Grape Kool Aid Iris, remember me!!!
LOL funny Allison!!! wouldn't want to get caught doing that, LOL
Talking with another gardener at the tour and she said there is one in Keyport down the shore that has 29 houses!!!! they have it for 2 days, it was the same weekend, so I'll have to check it out next year
Thanks for the info Karen...I did notice some earwigs hiding in the folds, I wonder if they had something to do with it???
