Thanks, SSG!
FYI. Globemaster is priced just under $4 per bulb (in a bag of 15), and Giganteum is priced at $3 per bulb (in a bag of 15).
2013 Group Buy for Fall Bulbs :-)
I'm hoping im doing this right....
I would like:
Iris reticulata 'J. S. Dyt' 25 bulbs
Daffodil ‘Suada’ 25 bulbs
Daffodil ‘Stainless’ 25 bulbs
Daffodil 'Red Devon' 25 bulbs
Jill, can you add an Amaryllis 'dutch misty' for me if we end up ordering Amaryllis? Thanks.

Can the Alliums be divided in years to come--or are they to be left alone forever?
Given the $$ on these large bulbs--4 or 5 will be enough for me.
Perhaps, as others are interested in these as well, we can adjust the amounts for each to make a bag.
Thanks, Gita
Oh, I also want some amaryllis but I'm not sure how we're supposed to order them. I'd like 3 different varieties. Is that possible?
I'd like 50 of the tulip Miami mixture.
I planted Allium 'globemaster' about 4 - 5 years ago. They have come back every year. The flowers were huge the fist year. The bulbs probably split because the flowers were much smaller but many more in number the following year. I noticed that their flowers are of a good size again this year, about 6" in diameter. They are blooming now.

Pixie, the way you listed your order is just right! Easy for me to read = easier for me to get it right. LOL
Sounds like my 'Globemaster' were just in not such a good spot. Thanks!
Amaryllis Go ahead and tell me what you want, and for now I'll put it on the list. We do need to order them in bags of ten, so I can't order one of this kind and three of that kind... Later, we'll narrow it down to the ones that seem most popular and see if we can get their numbers up to ten. So if you want to order 3 different amaryllises, tell me your top 3 picks, but later you may have to change which ones or drop them from your order.
I really want to get 'Flamenco'... that vivid coloration is great, and the strong picotee edge makes it even more eye-catching.
I'm also totally in love with the double amaryllises. I've grown 'Aphrodite' and 'Dancing Queen' but don't think I still have them, and I think 'Double Dream' is absolutely gorgeous... So I'd would "throw in" with ordering any of those.
Oh, and Pixie -- thank you very much for starting your order with some of the ones I want! Now feel free to browse the ADR pages and nominate additional varieties for consideration. You can look on this thread also and see who else might be interested in what you want... also, remember that the more you "talk up" your favorites, the more likely they are to make the final order. :-)
This whole "talk it up" process, adding varieties with enough interest, and dropping them again if we don't make the final numbers will be familiar to anybody who has ordered from Mamajack's or from some of the past DG co-ops...
If it starts getting confusing...
Hang in there and just keep an eye on that list in the 3rd post at the top.
Anything on the list has generated some good interest, and you can see how many more we'll need to order so we can get a bag/tray/box of them.
Anything with an asterisk has been ordered.
If your name is in the italicized list of who is getting how many of them, you'll get them in your final order. You may be asked if you can be flexible and add a few more bulbs or give a few up to somebody who didn't get "in" on them, but it's too early for that yet... at this point, once a variety has "sold out," that just means I'll add a second bag to the list and see how it goes from there.
Jill, can you please change my Amaryllis 'Misty' quantity from 1 to 4? Its flowers are so unique! I think it will make a very good Christmas gift.
Thank you.
Will do, Donner. :-)
Sorry Jill, I didn't have time to read everything or discuss the subject with Holly, I jumped in to let you know I would participate. I didn't think you were yelling, just correcting us to prevent confusion and misunderstandings, like, "How did you not see it? It was 4th on the list and posted at the last possible minute." LOL
:-) I knew you & Holly were "in," since I think you've both asked if we'd be doing this. I know there are other folks (like Happy) we haven't heard from yet. Not to worry, word will spread... I don't mind a slow start while I get organized!
I'm definitely in -- I just haven't had time to focus on this. What is your time frame, Critter?
I've already started ordering some bulbs, Happy. I'd like to get our initial orders by the end of this week, and then we'll do another "round" of ordering for June, getting some more people invited to participate, adding nominations to the list, trying to "sell out" varieties that didn't make it all the way to being ordered in the first round. Toward the end of each month, I'll take a look and see what I need to order, what varieties are "close" to being ordered if there's just a bit more interest, etc.
Bear in mind that ADR will be selling out of a lot of their bulbs over the course of the summer. By September their selection is relatively limited. So if there's something you especially want, start drumming up interest in it (remember I'd like to have at least 2 people interested before I add it to our list at the top, unless 1 person is willing to take all or most of a bag).
I'll be updating my spreadsheet at the end of each monthly "round," and while I'm willing to let people "ride" until the next round if they're not done ordering, I don't want to have a lot of $ that's not in hand... so if you owe more than $50, you'll probably get an invoice via Dmail, hopefully by the first week of the new month. As I said in the initial info -- I can be flexible on payment, but what I can't stress enough is -- KEEP ME IN THE LOOP. If you get a Dmail about payment, tell me what you can or can't do, and we can work something out, but don't leave me hanging!
Ouch (as to timing); ok, I'll try to focus on what we need.
Amaryllis wish list:
1 Flamenco Queen
1 Misty
1 Double Dream
I definitely want 3, and I'd like at least 2 different varieties, so I hope we get a lot of interest!
DAFFODILS, Descriptions & Details
PINK Daffodils, anybody? These are two of my favorites, which my nieces also loved this spring, so I might “need” some more bulbs
‘Precocious’ (split corona?)
Of all the pink-cupped daffs I’ve seen, the strong, rosy shade of this one comes closest to true pink rather than peach.
‘Audobon’ (small cupped)
The delicate but distinctive pink rim around the small cup of this daffodil makes it a total charmer. It’s a great complement to ‘Precocious’, which blooms with it in my garden.
Why can't I find either of these?
Terp, because ADR doesn't have them... if people want them, I'll look for other vendors... scroll up (or use "find") and you'll see a price from B&B for 'Precocious'... found it, either $6 or $6.65 for 5 bulbs.
Last Oct. I lost a brother to cancer, after 36 days of being diagnosed. I planted a memorial garden in his honor. I was trying for a "RIVER OF BLUE" as blue was his favorite color and we always drifted down the river. :)
I am hoping it will naturalize and fill in eventually. I used....
500 Muscari:
Dark Blue, Pale Blue, White
TULIPS:
100 Torch Song
32 Attila
25 Beauty of Spring
25 Gudoshnik
15 American Dream
50 mixed daffodils
Pixie--
Your "river of blue" looks sweet--and it looks like it is really flowing...
What other blue plants are you planning to add to that?
Maybe by the fall Swap--we could mail you some other blue plants...
We are in for a week of 90+ temps--How about Maine?
I am still trying to get stuff planted...a few things each day...as time and energy permit.
Gita
I haven't thought that far ahead Gita!! LOL Blue was his favorite color so any blue would do. :)
We had 5 days of cold rain, nights were dipping in the high 30's - 40's but yesterday was perfect. 73 and sunny!! Today...not so nice. Showers are back on this afternoon but tomorrow will hit 80 I think!!!
Pixie: That's lovely (but daunting that 500 Muscari doesn't make a bigger show). You could add Caryopteris for later season color -- and Vitex if you can find one that is hardy for you ...
Oh, Pixie, I didn't see that from the first photo. That river is gorgeous.
Pixie, that's a wonderful memorial!!
From experience with my own muscari "river" I can let you know that the "regular" blue Muscari will multiply fastest and eventually crowd out the other colors... but if you "tend" your river and thin out the regular ones (maybe replant to extend its length) it'll work fine.
I really like the idea of mixing daffs with tulips -- not only beautiful, but also the tulips will fill in nicely at first, and then when/if they peter out the daffodils can spread and take over.
Happy Dmailed me yesterday with a bunch of daffodils she'd like to add (in quantity), so it may be time to go on a daffodil spree!
Here's the pricing info I gave her. These WILL be added ot our list when I get a moment, so go ahead and let me know numbers if you want to get some. :-)
Oh, and please don't follow her example by Dmailing me with orders... she had such a long list that she said she didn't want to overwhelm the thread, LOL. She should know we're not easilyi overwhelmed when it comes to flowers!
Most of the ones listed as bags of 250 or 500 also come in smaller boxes for a little more $, but they're such good varieties for planting in groups and drifts where they'll naturalize and spread that I listed the prices for the larger quantities.
ADDITIONAL DAFFODILS
Actaea (250 size 12/14) $2.90 for 10 bulbs (and yes that's the only size bag they come in)
Barrett Browning ( bag of 250 size 12/14 ) -- 25 bulbs for $7.25
Carlton (bag of 250 bulbs, Size 14/16 ) -- 25 bulbs for $7.25
February Gold (Bin display box of 50 bulbs, Size 14/16), $4.30 for 10 bulbs
Geranium ( bag of 250 bulbs size 12/14 )-- 25 bulbs for $7.25
Hawera ( bag of 500 bulbs size 12/14 )-- 25 bulbs for $7.25
Ice Follies (bag of 250 size 14/16 ) $7.25 for 25 bulbs (size 14/16)
Jetfire ( or bag of 500 for $105, both size 12/14) $6.90 for 25.
Minnow ( bag of 500 size 12/14 for $75) $7.50 for 50 larger bulbs
Tete a tete ( bag of 500 size 12/14) $9.75 for 50 bulbs
Thalia (bag of 500 size 14/16 ) $7.25 for 25 larger bulbs
Suada IS ALREADY ON ORDER, I want to switch to the regular (still big!) 14/16 size bulbs, so they'll be $7.25 for 25 bulbs.
Love your blue river Pixie, it reminds me of the swaths of blue flowers in the area of Longwood Gardens Carillon, it's just gorgeous. http://www.longwoodgardens.org/CarillonHistory.html
Ok ok ok ok! Twist my arm a little more. I'm done, unless I see some pink!
Jetfire - 25 $6.90
Minnow - 50 $7.50
Thalia - 25 $7.25
February gold - 10 $4.30
Thanks everyone.
I love Actaea & Geranium!!!
Would take 25 of each should they become available and the price is right.
I am adding a few daffodil names t.o make you drool ^_^

"Shrike"

beautiful pixie.., and my sympathies...
THose are good daffodil choices- I have, or have had, several of them
; ^)
Pixie, feel free to look up those or see if there are other special daffs you'd like to get from Brent & Becky's... their preeason sale goes on for 2 more days and pretty much covers shipping.
The daffs Devon/Happy mentioned are all great naturalizers, which means they'll come back and multiply well year after year.. great for that "drifts and sweeps of color" effect!
Pixie, your river of blue is a wonderful tribute to your brother. It is beautiful.
I guess I'm off to look up those daffodil varieties to see if there is anything to add to my order.

'Carbineer'

Aspen: I used these two resources in picking bulbs, because I definitely want to them to perennialize -- too expensive otherwise. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/greenspring/infosheets/hardybulbs.pdf and http://www.southernliving.com/home-garden/gardens/daffodil-bulbs-00400000066014/.
I'd really like some kind of wood hyacinths for the back where it is shady, to go under hostas -- I'm wavering on grape hyacinths, but my mom had them and I really came to hate the post-bloom foliage. Plus a lot of people say they wander all over the place. I'd love a pool of blue....
'Roulette' and 'Capree Elizabeth' both caught my eye at B&B this year, too, Pixie! I love 'Electrus', but I think I'd rather wait a couple years and see if the price comes down a little... even if we order 50, it's still $3 per bulb. The photo of 'La Belle' is striking, but I'm just not a fan of the reflexed jonquilla petals. But if enough others want them, I'll still add them!
I think that coral pink & yellow combo on N. 'Capree Elizabeth' is amazing, and it's set off even more by the unusual white halo around the cup. If we get 50, it would be about $8.70 for 5 bulbs. I'd take 5, maybe more. Pixie, how many would you want? Anybody else?
'Roulette' would be striking scattered here and there among the 'Las Vegas' daffs (also large cup, so they should bloom pretty close in time). If we get 50, it would be about $7.05 for 5 bulbs. I'd take 5, maybe more. Pixie, how many would you want? Anybody else?
Even if it's just me ordering from B&B, I think I'd want N. 'Sweet Love', one of their own hybrids that always seems to be gone long before the fall sales. It's fragrant! 5 for $3.25 if we get to 50, and I'd take at least 15. https://store.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/spring/productview/?sku=01-0729
Also, see B&B's comment about 'Avalon' on their page for 'Altun Ha', which looks like a good alternate, even at $1.80 or $2 per bulb. I can definitely see it near 'Capree Elizabeth', as they both have that soft white halo.
We need to act QUICKLY to get B&B bulbs during their pre-sale event, through June 1, so I need numbers by FRIDAY May 31.

oh, and for fans of pink daff B&B has
N 'Precocious', $6 to 6.65 for 5 bulbs https://store.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/spring/productview/index.php?sku=01-0260
I like Avalon a lot from what I've read -- it just seemed to look like other plants we were ordering or that I already have.
Critter, I'll order some Sweet Love.... 15-25.
But what is the B&B shipping like? Is it ugly?
